Rom and Kernel to improve battery autonomy - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I have an HTC One M8 , bought for nearly two months because I found an opportunity . I know that is not the latest model , but I have always heard great things about it . It is currently installed rom stock MM and Sense 7 ; in my typical day , the usual 16 hours of use ( 8am - 24pm ) get 3h and means of display on, sometimes 4 hours, sometimes 3h and 15 min etc . I would kindly ask you which rom and kernel do you recommend ( maybe a kernel that lowers the CPU voltage , or that it downclocks a little bit frequency ) based on Sense 7 to optimize fuel consumption and improve the autonomy ?
Thanks so much :good:

Dont get too much indulged in saving battery etc , android is never meant for that... As far as your question concerns, try latest Leedroid Rom V 8.2.2 .. check in development section... It has good battery backup...

Post your HOX battery life here

this is a thread that gather all the info from forumer as u can see a lot of forum member post about bad batterylife(yes its a lot,i know it)
that means the battery life is one of concern of people.
so i started a thread to gather all the info from member , maybe we find someway to work out for longer the bl of our devices, and move along with ur portable charger or battery all time
before smartphone , all using 2G, after the 3G came , i see the batterylife drain significantly , so we're here to compare the 2G,3G and 4G battertlife
Follow this
1.ROM
2.kernel
3.2G,3G and 4G / country / telco
4.CPU clockspeed
5.BatteryLife
6.average rating 10/10
7.usage
8.screentime
0.add on tweaks or app to maintain the BatteryLife
0.remark on how it drains
please do share all ur experience, and all based on 2G,3G and 4G not wifi user
in XDA , u share ur 1 minutes , uncountable members' gain
so come'on dont be shy :)

7.use PowerAmp all the time,FB,Flipboard
0.using system tuner reclock at 1Ghz
0.it drain 1% per 2 min
You should add to the list : screen time
For what? this is getting funny. Another "my battery is bad" thread? Keep in mind that this is quad core HD smartphone not nokia E51 ! Your phone good score should be 2 DAYS! And when in heavy use, it will be couple of hours! this not gonna change!

just do some comparison, differ country 3G line will affect the BL too, just want know which one better.i didnt complaint my battery is bad. when u see a lot of forum member post about this , that means the battery life is one of concern of people.

It looks like you dont know anything about how 3G works and why it may affect BL. Its all about range, protocol switching, and BTS placement.
Keep in mind, this is SMARTPHONE with QUAD+1 CORES and HD display. The good battery life score with average usage is 1 DAY. with heavy usage is couple of H. If you want it to work a week without charge, get nokia E51.
Poeple need to understand that there is no such topic as bad battery life in such monsutros smartphone. Live with it or leave it.
Well I fully charged my HOX on about 20:00 and in the morning when I wake up (12:00- I'm a heavy sleeper ) , It still shows 100% of battery! That's quite outstanding, isn't it?

Yeah after a few days struggling with a battery draining issue I managed to solve it and now my HOX has an amazing battery life Even though it is still facing some battery draining with the camera (Not to mention the scratched camera lens). It lasts 2-3 days with normal gaming. 5-6 days of normal usage (without gaming)

Well I updated the software build to the latest. Than I do a factory reset. After that, I use my phone normally until it shows me the warning of "the battery is lowerthab 10%", I turn off my phone completely then charge it for 8 -> 12 hours then turn it on and use it normally again. Repeat those steps 3-4 times and your HOX's battery life should be fine

Battery Life Kernel CM10?

is there a good kernel that is cm10 supported that increases battery life? last night i was testing out while running AndroidME Cm10 1.8.0 and on idle it took 8% of battery in like 8 hours thats horrible compared to the 3% on mincho and like 1% on my iphone 4 xD
so whats a realyl good kernel you guys have had used that gave you very nice battery life?
generally if it worked for most of the population it will work for me so dont give me your device is different bs thanks for any helpful suggestions

dude that its not that every device is different chances are my device is like most of the population sure i dont doubt that all devices are not the saem but generally speaking mine could be the same as yours
I use CM10 with Leankernel, as I just wanted a simple Kernel. However I did under clock my phone to 920mhz. I found that this keeps it much cooler and I'm not seeing a difference in performance running it lower.
With all that I can get a little over 2 days standby time, as long as I don't have location services running.

100 percent doubtful. There are extreme variances in the SoC even from within the same production run. Couple that with other hardware differences, and it becomes obvious how utterly inane these battery life threads actually are. There is but one singular answer to the question, and no third party can give it to you.

I saw no difference between the consumption of CM10 and stock Rom.
Tests
The latest test in our galaxy nexus , we provide to show how different kernel will enjoy their users and create a ****ing fan club, ROM is theoretically irrilevant, every ROM had ( theoretically ) same battery drain, some rom is better, some is wrost, not too much anyway
there's some kernel don't require attention from you, the 2 is Google Stock ( for stock rom ) , CM10 Stock ( cm10 based ), the motivation is really simple, this kernel will be a stability milestone and classic kernel from phone, their dont include any improvements or another things, and anyway it's not really stable or secure as promise, because it's not updated ( google stock ) or include some ****ty commits ( cm10 kernel ).
Our attention is to custom kernel, people will always point trinity as best, it's is but not completly , this kernel has particular clock ( under stock OPP ) , that permits more stable UnderVolt ( using same values in franco , it's crash, in trinity is rock stable ) and save your balls from MPU.
i use Interactive 300-1036 ( 775mV -> 300mhz, 875mV -> 639mhz, 975mV -> 1036mhz )
Another attention is releated to Lean and Glados projects ( in XDA it's author dont open any thread )
Leankernel promise always patched kernel ( from mainline linux ) and lean, smooth, fast, Leankernel interactive is best governor tuning here, very low consumption but there's problem , because it's not have control app, it's hard to tuning right!
Glados is lead kernel innovation, but it's not updated and dont support CM10
Faux kernel is good, but too stock-frequence and governor, dont like it
Iphone4 use less battery ( not really ) becouse it's missing alot android features, disable mobile data, auto sync and wifi and set your brightness to 10%, your phone will be infinite powered.
i do heavy uses ( 4-5 hours screen on ) , i come back to home at night with 10-20% , perfect

Need Help ! Battery Issues and other probelms.

Hey guys , so I own this great device and I am really happy that I own this, but there are problems I donot know how to solve. I searched the internet ALOT but couldn't get any result . I'd be really happy if you guys can help me : . Firstly I own the Gt-p5200 version of the tab , rooted , stock rom and stock kernel, no mods with Xposed or anything.
So the first problem is about the battery and I''ll go directly into it. I tried 3 Info apps ( Like Aida , Cpu z ) and each one showed different results of battery capacity. You can see those in the first three pics but I'll tell it here anyway .
Aida 64 - By android - 2100 mAh, by Database - 6400 mAh
Cpu-Z - 6400 mAh
Cpu z - 2100 mAh
You'd know the reaction on my face after I saw this . Why is it like this ?
The second problem is... I dont know under what category it comes in. Before I play games , I usually go to kernel adiutor to change the governor from interactive to ondemand/performance so that i could get better performance , but after I finish playing the games and go to kernel adiutor back to change the governor , I see that the device was in 1333 Mhz most of the time than on 1600Mhz but at the same time there was not much heating ( or atleast i couldnt feel it, I take the cover off while gaming. ) , the CPU never exceeds 57 degrees. So I went back to these info apps and in the thermal section I found that "msicdie" was at 69 degrees !! Other temperatures were normal , nothing exceeded 50 except Core0 and Core1 but this thing was always above 50 degrees ! I think 50 degrees for a cpu while gaming is okay and I think the frequency drops to 1333 mhz because of msicdie. So what is msicdie ? Why is it going to such high temps ? Please help me in this. ( Last 2 pics for more info ).
And for the last one , is it possible to change GPU frequencies on our tablet ? I just want to get the maximum performance from this tablet .
Thank you .
Anyone there ? Need help , msicdie goes upto 82 degrees C while gaming !

The m9 always gets hot and those temperatures are normal.

ok thanks for reply I use elementalx kernel but dont know what settings are the best for battery life ,the best governor mode is? Poor battery life in my HTC 30min from 100-to 80%, it's normal?

Yes, This Is Normal .
I Have Decided To Stay With The Latest Marshmallow Update Because It Is Better Than The Nougat Build . I Have Compared My Friend's HTC One M9 (nougat) To My Own (marshmallow)
.
If Your Phone Is S-OFF , You Can Downgrade To Marshmallow .
Beleive Me , Marshmallow Is Much Better Than Nougat . Or You Can Also Wait For Further Nougat Updates To Fix Those Overheating And Battery Problems

What ROM should we download for best battery backup and gaming performance

Hi I already posted a thread about this but I didn't get much response and I just wanted to ask that the battery life in a custom ROM is really worst. When I was using the stock ROM the battery backup was really good but the gaming and performance was really bad so from that moment I've been installing new custom ROMs to find out one which has great battery and also great performance but I failed to do so. And I don't knoknow why but the battery backup is really bad in every ROM. I am currently on viper is and it is giving me 3h 21m SOT and in the stock ROM I got around 6 to 7 hrs SOT so what should I do for battery and performance
Check Jaguar, it's performance is the best amongst any other rom right now. Though the battery life is average..

Go for DoTOS (Non treble build)
You can even try bootleggers and latest Aex 5.5
P.S - Aex 5.5 is fully treble supported so you need to flash factory2vendor.zip and after that compatible twrp.

Can't confirm about all the ROM, tried only PE, RR, AEX, AiCP.
Now I have seen others getting 6 to 6h30min with most of these ROM for general usage.
I had issue with PE but some go around that with custom kernel.
By default installations of ROM, without any other extra mods, I have seen both AiCP and AEX offering 6h to 6h30min SoT with moderate use. That including bit of casual gaming also (but of Guns of Boom or a match of PubG).
Bootlegger + BFR Kernal V3.3
AiCP 13.1 May 11Th
Nameless Kernel R14
No root
PubG at medium
WiFi network
6% battery for a 33 min match. That accounts to around 12% per hour.
This is a new installation, not yet through few charge cycle, so data may change in next few days of use.

This is very awkward to hear
bootloger 2.2 14 april + heliox v2 was good balance performance , if you want more battery backup just install greenify active doze and install akt profile xana battery profile
Bootleggers is not so good on my personal experience. Try out Jaguar, it had the best performance u can ever witness with this device. On the contrary games force close on the latest update of bootleggers rom[24-8-2018].I faced this issue with clash royale and clash of clans.
I have been using Arrow OS Oreo for a month now, getting around 5 hrs SOT on normal usage.
After installing AKT (X.A.N.A BATTERY) I get more than 7 hrs SOT normal usage. Videos, live streaming and twitter. No gaming.

I have used bootleggers for a long time and i was not satisfied with the battery performance it degrades after some time while using the rom for days and then few weeks back i switched to cardinal os i know its not that heard of, but it is more stable and battery efficient, my device is 1.5 years old so battery has also aged on bootleggers i used to get around 4 hrs but on cardinal i get about 5 - 6 hrs of sot that to when I charge my device once a day. And i used the stock battery configs on both roms
