Tip: True Mouse/KB - Fire TV Themes and Apps

the best Mouse if you not use a real Bluetooth-Mouse in FireTV for some Apps (eg Sky Go) is True Mouse/KB. Make sure your Phone/Tablet is rooted
What do you need:
a rooted Smartphone/Tablet
True Mouse/KB
Bluetooth#
Install both Apps in your Phone, not FTV. First after installed both Apps start Bluetooth# and enable Bluetoothpatch. Then start True Mouse/KB and add Device. Select peer Device: Android, Bluetooth device: Mouse/Keyboard Combo. Go in your FTV Settings and then Controller. Search for a new Device then click ok in True Mouse/KB. Accept Pairing and your done

Does this work on the fire tv stick??

Yes it works fine. You install it on your rooted Phone/Tablet not on FireTV Stick. Then make Setup as above and pair

[APP] VMLite VNC Server

This is a trial version of our popular Android VNC Server for fire TV Box and Stick. With this app, you can view and control fire TV using a VNC client or a web browser that is running on another computer or mobile device.
Trial apk download:
http://www.youmap.com/VMLiteVNCServer-firetv-trial.apk
This app is also available from Amazon store as a paid app for $5.99.
It's very easy to use on fire TV, just simply click Start button.
Instructions:
(1) Enable ADB Debugging - go to Amazon TV Box or Stick, Settings, System, Developer Options > tun on ADB Debugging
(2) side load the apk from above link
(3) Launch the app from System > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > VMLite VNC Server, then click Start button, and it will display ip address and port number to connect. You only need to do this once, the vnc server is configured to auto start after subsequent reboots.
(4) Download a vnc client (TightVNC is recommended) to your PC, or use android vnc client on android devices, or use builtin vnc viewer on MAC, or simply use a browser to view and control fire TV.
That's it, and have fun!
Forgot to mention, why you would need this?
(1) use computer display. mouse, keyboard to remote control fireTV. Very good for developers, I personally use vnc server to develop our apps on fireTV. No need for extra display.
(2) Use android phone with this app, act as a remote control, also with display for quick positioning.

When I try to install this app on my Fire TV (4k), it says something to the effect of "This app can only be installed on the Amazon Fire TV".
I have ADB debugging on, and I've made sure that there are no parallel ADB connections.
Any ideas?
It's doesn't work.
When I start the App, they says Update needed.
Not working on the ATV2 running 5.0.4. "This trial version works only on Amazon fire TV"
The pro version complains that it's not licensed, presumably because Google Play services aren't available.
Haven't been in this forum in awhile and missed this. I tried it and it said something it doesn't work or something like that. So what I'd like to know....is this because the trial apk expired? If I purchase the app from amazon will it work on my rooted gen 1 AFTV? and if I update to OS 5 I assume it will also work there too...
any update on this?
is there a working version for firetv
i'll pay but dont want to have that license issue on a firetv that doesnt have the google play services
Hi @huisinro,
Can you upload again the apk test, please?
fastest way for PC / Mac / Linux.. do it with scrcpy
Download latest release release
connect to your stick tv from adb connect for example:
adb connect 192.168.1.105:5555
Click to collapse
connected to 192.168.1.105:5555
Click to collapse
After that run scrcpy.exe on windows.. or jar on mac... you will see the display
(this also works for any adb connected android)
Thanks scrcpy devs

Remote Mouse and WuKong both stopped working

Remote Mouse and WuKong have both stopped working on my Fire TV. Reinstalled both apps on my phone and on the Fire TV and tried different phones, they just won't work.
The mouse cursor appears on the screen of the Fire TV but I can't click on anything, meaning I can no longer use Sky Go or BT Sports.
I don't know what happened to stop it working, they just stopped one day. I've upgraded my Fire TV to the developer preview 5.0.3 to see of that helps but it doesn't make a difference.
Help please anyone??? Thanks
If you are using firestarter go to its settings and disable adb home detection. Then reboot see if they work.

Not using Firestarter. Any other ideas?
Only to confirm that ADB is turned on. Also I believe current ADB rules are one session at a time. So if you meant you have both installed chose either remote mouse or Wukong not both

Is the one ADB session only present in 5.0.3 or do older, production versions have that rule too? As I had the issue before upgrading
Uninstalled WuKong, Remote Mouse and AGK Fire from my phone, uninstalled WuKong and Remote Mouse from Fire TV, rebooted both, changed the IP of the Fire TV, reinstalled just Remote Mouse on both devices and it's working now. Wonder what it's problem was...
ADB session limited in OS5 not earlier version.
Remote mouse is working on my OS5 AFTV2 and on my non-OS5 AFTV1. I have a total of four boxes just checked remote mouse on all of them. They are all working. It is slow on AFTV2, works great on non os5 AFTV1. Make sure remote mouse is v1.08 on the AFTV
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mine is doing the same did you manage to fix it?
Remote mouse and wukong is fighting for the adb session on fire os 5 it seems and I am sticking with wukong now though the mouse function is flaky in some apps

I had the same problem after rooting AFTVv1 5.0.5 with Kingroot. Unrooting and uninstalling Kingroot (from within the app's settings) fixed it.
Add to the list that AGK fire stopped working. I can no longer push files no matter what phone and version of android I use. I am just stuck. No way to update side loaded apps, install new ones, or use a remote on the xfinity app.

The solution was in post #2, and only using one adb connection at a time.
Latest Fire OS upgrade breaks mouse mode in WuKong
After the latest Fire OS upgrade Mouse node has stopped working on Fire Stick. TV Go also prompts to purchase Fire controller.
I had the same issue starting yesterday where I could only get the mouse to move but couldn't click or use the d-pad. Uninstalled and reinstalled Remote Mouse on both Fire Stick and phone. Works again.
i updated to 1.06 version of Mouse Toggle and it works again ... FireTV 2 on 5.2.1.0_r1
As @Ludacrisvp mentioned the recent 'Mouse Toggle' and 'Remote Mouse for Fire TV' app updates are compatible with the Fire TV 5.2.1.0 OS update. The apps must be updated to versions 1.06 and 1.16 respectively for compatibility. If you have any issues please send a email to the address in the app and I will help you out.
Note: If the apps 'Status' is stuck on 'starting' then it is very likely another app is unfortunately blocking the single ADB connection. The offending app would need to be uninstalled and 'ADB Debugging' toggled off and then on again.
Thank you!

Control Fire TV from PC

Is there anyway that I can control my Fire TV from my pc?
I find it really hard to type with the remote itself, so just wondered if I could control the TV with my laptops mouse and keyboard.
If you have the Fire TV Box, you can add a keyboard via USB. Some work better than others.
There is also a remote control app for Android phones and typing works fine.
I have successfully installed Remote VNC Server
I have been able to install Remote VNC Server onto my FTV v2 box...
There are several guides on installing a VNC server onto FTV; however most use a paid VNC server. I chose to install the free Remote VNC server from the Play store and it worked. My FTV is rooted and I am using VNC Viewer on Win 10 to control it. Typing is a little slow, but works. Haven't played with settings which could remedy the delay...
Oh, and make sure to use port 6000 when connecting. It doesn't mention anything about that in the app, but I wasn't able to connect until I specified that port.
Good Luck!!
you can just use teamviewer...
Not sure if you have an IPhone or android device. The official app on IPhone supports inputting text from the keyboard. I would assume the android equivalent does the same.
I'm currently using Vysor which seems to be quite hassle free.
The android official Fire TV app Can control you fire device & type & manoeuvre using the touch screen keyboard & controls
The FireTV app internally works with the WhisperNet protocol.
The connection is secured and pairing unfortunately seems incredibly complicated.
My guess is, however, that this could possibly be used to get playstate, track names and other information enabling full integration into home automation systems.
Maybe someone with a clue about cryptography could have a look at it?
Be warned: pairing a phone remote works only once and can not be deleted

Interaction from a remote VNC client requires root.
Quicksupport works on a stick with root. AFTV2 with the rbox 5.0.5 image crashes complaining of missing files
Haven't tried VNC Server yet
Blue Stacks
To control your Fire Stick using the PC, install an Android emulator (I use "BlueStacks 4"). Inside the emulator install the FireTV Remote app from the Google Play Store. I tried posting links, but as a new user, that is not permitted.
Vysor is your best bet or get micro usb otg adapter to USB adapter to plug in a wireless mouse and keyboard. Also you could get a usb mouse remote with backlit keyboard. The fire tv remote app for iPhone and android works really good for typing.

Not by me, cant find who made it.
Console (DOS prompt) based, works just make sure you check your tv to grant permissions. I jsut tested Kodi controls and they work... give it a shot.

if i cant post uploadfiles, please erase and ban my account from this site.
This is an ADB remote, that I just tested and works for entering text. DOS based. I guess it was deleted but its its adb sending commands.
Dont work that great though, you have to wait for each command you send to complete, tho it does go faster if you arent using any apps like Kodi (but also makes a good remote).
Again, XDA, please remove my account and everything you can if I cant post this. Thank you. Thank you for all the Winmo stuff in the mid 2000s. I have earned this right to have my info deleted.
Stumped.

OK, I'm stumped. In the Fire TV Rempte App, where are the up/down/left/right/select navigation buttons in the circle near the top of the actual remote?

If installed on your phone, swipe in the large empty space in the middle of the screen. Tap to select. I haven't tried it from a pc, but assume you would drag and click.
You can try out scrcpy. The preview on the PC is bit laggy when connecting over Wi-Fi but the input is instant on the FireTV. You need to activate ADB tho.

Help loading settings.apk on fire stick

Hi i have downloaded the Amazon Fire TV Utility App and i have added the ip from the Amazon Fire stick and CMD came up saying it had connected, i have then tried to load the settings.apk using the Amazon Fire TV Utility App but all i am getting is a CMD with this in it error: device offline followed by -waiting for device-
The Fire Stick is turned on and i have tried turning off my firewall and still the same problem.
Hi I managed to get it installed on the Fire Stick by running Amazon FireTV Utility App as administrator, i can now see the settings app on the fire stick and when i launch it i can see the Bluetooth option but if i click on it the app just closes it does this on what ever option i click in the settings app.
I am assuming you are on OS5.
Make sure you have the proper IP address (in FireTv Utilities app settings) for your box/stick then go in Settings/ Developer Options/and turn off and on ADB debugging two ot three times ....should work now.
Thank you for your reply i tried what you recommended but it still launches and then closes as soon as you select an option.
I'm also seeing the same thing. I've installed the settings.apk, but everytime I click on any entry, it kicks me out...
why do you need this settings.apk? what are you needing to change / use it for?
I have loaded Kodi on my fire stick and some of the apps require mouse support to navigate so i want to buy a bluetooth air mouse and all tutorials say you need to load the settings.pka and use the bluetooth options from with in that.

You don't need it.
FireOS 5 has better bluetooth support.
Here is my pairing of my Apple MagicTrackpad to the FireTV Stick (note the MagicMouse from 08 will not pair - Apple issue)
You can see me pair, pin is 0000, and the mouse cursor is that smallish circle in Kodi. The stock launcher has no mouse support, but FireStarter does.
Hi so all i need to do is get a Apple MagicTrackpad and it will work ?

I'm sure there are better Bluetooth nice to use. I just paired what is laying around. The drivers that the firetv has don't support tap to click on it so I have to click the touch pad which isn't easy unless it's on a table.
You will likely be able to use almost any Bluetooth mouse with the firetv.
I wouldn't recommend the apple trackpad for firetv usage.
The android mouse toggle app has worked well enough for me that I don't even bother with pairing a mouse.
Hi i just got the Mouse Toggle app and it finds my Amazon stick and connects everything is enables and at the bottom it says status started but on my phone it just says done at the bottom and there is no controls or anything. I have enclosed a screen shot. Thanks again for your help.
Thank you i have it all working great now.

Firestick will not allow sign in - remote will not pair

Hi everyone
This is NOT the normal posting about pairing a remote to the Amazon Fire Stick. I have a Firestick and at the sign in page (where you connect your user account to Amazon) it is completely stuck. The remote does nothing.
Note:
The remote works fine on another Firestick
The batteries have been replaced and are OK
The usual tips for pairing the remote to the Firestick have all failed.
No matter what I do the remote will note pair (the remote is fine). I cannot get past the sign-in screen.
Does anyone know a way to reset the Firestick?
Has the Firestick gone completely?
Will ADB Link or other such device reset it?
Does anyone have any ideas please?
Thank you
3 options I can think of.
1) Use an OTG adapter and plug in a keyboard. Finishing signing in then navigate to the settings and pair the remote in the settings.
2) Same as the above except use the fire tv remote app on your phone.
4) Root the stick (if possible on your version) factory reset/wipe in TWRP. If that doesn't fully reset the device you can flash the stock firmware and it will restore it to the same state as it was out of the box, meaning the first screen will be on remote pairing.
I suspect what happens is the stick was deregistered. That usually brings up the sign-in page, and somewhere either the pairing was lost or that isn't the remote that was paired with that stick when it was deregistered.
Dear Sir
Thank you for your excellent, extensive response. However, I am unsure what TWRP is?
Thank you
I would highly suggest trying option 1 or 2 first. Option 3 requires rooting the stick and you should have a good understanding of what TWRP is before going down that path. Also you may or may not even be able to root it, depending on which you have and the software version it's on.
Hello it would have to be option 3. I tried the fire TV app and it would not install on either my phone or fire tablet. The only thing I cannot understand using TWRP is the tutorials I have seen say the Android device needs to have ADB Debugging ON.
Hardly a chance of doing it as I cannot access the device in the first place!!!
I will have a go and see what comes up.
Cheers
Using TWRP requires unlocking the device, and unlocking the device requires an older firmware that is vulnerable to an exploit. I don't know which Stick you have or your firmware version, but if the Stick has received an update since March, then there is no way to unlock it currently.
If you had TWRP, you wouldn't need to enable ADB debugging in FireOS, because TWRP includes it's own ADB binary that it enables.
Have you already tried the FireTV app on a phone/tablet? When you choose setup a new device, I thought the phone communicated with the Stick via Bluetooth?
Hello Finnzz!
thank you for the input.
I did try and install FireTV on my kindle tablet but it won't install for some reason.
I am not aware of the phone or device connecting via bluetooth (I thought it was only the remote that came with it that did that) but if it does connect with bluetooth I cannot get into the Firestick to actually connect to wi-fi or to turn on bluetooth devices! So, I am stuck!
Just to clarify, I'm talking about the FireTV app for Android.
Amazon Fire TV - Apps on Google Play
Simple navigation, a keyboard, plus voice search for Fire TV.
play.google.com
When using that app on your phone, and selecting:
'set up new device'
Then:
'Fire TV'
This will search for FireTVs via Bluetooth. Bluetooth is turned on by default on the FireTV. The stock FireTV remote connects to the Stick using Bluetooth, so it has to be on.
If you are using a FireHD tablet download the FireTV app from the Amazon app store, don't sideload the Google Play Store version.
Amazon Fire TV:Amazon.com:Appstore for Android
Edit: Also, have you already tried resetting the remote?
Reset Your Fire TV Remote - Amazon Customer Service
If your remote isn't working, try resetting it.

Hello
Thank you for the reply. Just to make sure does the Firstick need to be connected to wi-fi in order for bluetooth to work because if that is the case I cannot turn on wi-fi.
Thank you

Have you already tried the remote reset procedure linked to above? This is the first thing you should try. Simply taking out or replacing the batteries does not reset it.
Did you already try using the FireTV app on another Android device? I wouldn't think that if the app is communicating via Bluetooth for setup that WiFi was needed. Try it and see
Bullseye!!!
Nailed it finally and the recommendation you put forward (Fire TV app) worked a treat. It amazed me how fast and responsive it was.
Without your assistance I thought the Firestick was ready for the bin.
I am very appreciative to the following contributors:
bnevets27Finnzz
Cheers!
Glad you got it sorted. Sorry for my misinformation, I wasn't aware the app commuted with the stick over Bluetooth.
