When I connect my phone via the USB cable to my desktop machine, I get the message "no storages found". I could access the storage (internal and sdcard) just fine in the past (haven't done it for a few months). The device charges fine so I don't think it's a problem with the USB socket.
I've enabled debugging mode and rebooted a few times but the problem remains. Any idea what to do?
Thanks
Albert
when you plug the phone in, swipe down on the screen to see the notifications. this will show an option of how you want the 2 devices to interact, one of which is "file transfers" - pic this and the pc will shut explorer, when you open it again you'll see the phone's contents.

then i synced my phone and the icon came back along with the "USB debugging connected" icon
i then pulled the usb cable and both icons disappeared! thanks
Two other things, is there a way to disable the bleep noise when i connect a usb cable to my phone and does "USB debugging" need to be enabled for "HTC Sync" to work? i tried disabling it and it disabled sync as well.
hi,
i was looking for a script/app, that does the following:
you take off the charger -> a popup appears that remembers you to slide the plastic over your mini usb port.
because i haven't found anything like that in the forum, i wanted to make it popular and discuss.
what do you think? is this possible? i dont know how to program this, so i would be very happy about every help i can get.
greetings,
domi

Great idear btw
could be useful but for my part almost every time it take my phone in my hand I can't help but check with my finger if I didn't forget to close it
It's micro usb guys
I think that after a few more charging cycles it will become a habbit to close the cover
It's very possible, I just tried it.
You need "Tasker", with which you can let your phone do tasks when certain criterias are matched (Location, USB plugged, Time, pretty much everything a phone does).
Just create a new profile, choose "State" as context and "Power" as state. There you can define the power source. Choose "Any". Under that field check "Invert". This will perform that task if the phone is NOT on AC or USB power.
After that, you can choose what your phone has to do when those criterias are matched. In the lower left corner, click on the plus-symbol. Then choose "Alert". In this menu, you can choose which Alert the phone should show (Flash, Notify, Vibrate, Flash LED, Play Sound, etc.)
Choose "Notify" and type whatever you want in the Textbox. Something like "Close the USB port, fag!" will be fine. Choose an icon that shows in the taskbar, scroll to the bottom and tap "Done".
Then tap "Done" another time and you are nearly finished. You will get to the main menu again. There just tap "Apply" and you are set.
The notification will arrive instantly in case you are not connected to a USB cord. Just erase it and everything will work.
sounds good. gonna test it as soon as possible! thx for the tip
This has happened on almost every android phone I have had. I am sitting in front of my T989 and it is plugged into my computer. For some reason, there are no sound notifications for emails/text. It vibrates (as I have it always do) but no sound.
I don't understand. I have Motion turned off so I know it isn't something like "flip to slience" and volume is turned off. HELP!?
check the ringtones/music assignment
make sure those files are accessible
there are also 6 volume bars you should verify they are at least on 50%
sometimes after you mount the internal storage as a USB device, and come back
it tends to forget the ringtones/music select
it's a bug in most android

Agh I had it mounted - good call!
on a semi related topic, this might interest you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339760
I use Volume Control & it lets you link levels.
it seems that even when my phone is locked with a pattern, if i just plug the phone into the computer via USB, it'll have full access to the internal memory. with my Epic Touch 4G, I had to enable USB storage or something which would require me to unlock the phone first.
Maybe a slightly obnoxious work-a-round...
But you could enable fast-charge.
And if your phone is pattern locked, they couldn't undo the fast-charge.
(Fast charge disables USB sharing).
Edit:
You could also go to settings>storage>options
and uncheck MTP.
I noticed that i have to unlock my gnex(using pin) for my internal storage to show up.
If I uncheck MTP, I have to check PTP. PTP will only show my pictures but those are the files that I want kept protected haha.
Fast Charge looks alright but then at times I'd want to be able to log in to check the files as well.
I'll the PIN instead of the pattern tonight. Thanks!
PC recognizes the Nexus, I can see the icon in My Computer however it is empty.
The phone charges, but I have no access to the memory.
I've tried 3 different cables
USB Debugging activated? Fastcharge activated?
What I have noticed is that when you connect your phone with the screen off, the icon is empty. Then, if you just unlock the phone, it shows Internal Storage in the icon.

I can vouch for this. I was having the same issues before turning the screen on
Or, some builds of Android don't have MTP enabled by default. Go to Settings->Storage->click the overflow button in the bottom right->USB computer connection->make sure MTP is ticked. Give that a try if the above don't work
