It is very easy to decide : if you want to run on your device custom roms , you should buy G8 ... but, if you are not familiar with custom roms, and you always use stock rom , than go to buy P9 Lite !
The performance and price are almost the same for the both devices .
P9 is an unsupported device for custom roms like CyanogenMod , due HiSilicon Kirin architecture processor ( propriety of Huawei ) - also there is no open source for graphics ( Mali-T880MP2) - in conclusion there will be no custom roms based on CyanogenMod for this device .
A lot of thnx for your answer. ..I write this thread because I found a review on the Internet said that the G8 have some lag with the original rom 5.1.1
.and the p9lite have a better cpu and marshmallow.

Hi, please help me. Is there any chance to install MIUI 9 ROM on Mi A2 Lite? I can't find the official ROM for that phone. I found only Android One version ROM pack. I wanna buy this phone, I really like the design ect. but I don't like this whole Android One idea (I don't care about earlier updates), I don't like the interface, the icons. I prefer MIUI system overlay. Where can I find it?
Buy a MIUI device. There are plenty of them.

It is called Redmi 6 Pro, it's the Mi A2 Lite with MIUI (but without LTE 800 MHz frequency).
I know but that's not the answer, besides I have Redmi Note 4 already and I want A2 Lite not different model.

You thought wrong. That's the normal ROM with Android One.

useless the for large amount of people so thats not a solution to the posters question
I'm not sure why anyone would prefer a MIUI device over Android one, but seems to be that by making two versions Xiaomi is giving us plenty of options.. (not to mention adding more devices to their already convoluted line up). Depending on the 4G coverage with your provider/country not having band 20 might not even be a big deal.
Not every country has Redmi 6 Pro available...
since it's only for China Region (CMIIW)
and Mi A2 Lite is "more Global" with vanilla OS
me too want a MIUI OS over Mi A2 Lite due to MIUI's feature (such as, hide notch, hide nav-bar and using full swipe gesture, etc..)
any idea to flash MIUI over MiA2 Lite?
or can we just flash Redmi 6 Pro's ROM over MiA2 Lite device? is it compatible (it should be, due to the same hardware spec, CMIIW again)
It is not possible to flash Redmi 6 Pro (sakura) ROM on Mi A2 Lite (daisy).
A slight chance to do so could be by flashing it in EDL mode, but even if I get EDL permission from Xiaomi, I won't take that risk.
The only safe way is to wait some developer that ports sakura ROM to daisy. It could be even easier if a MIUI treble ROM exists (I don't know if it exists, as I dislike MIUI).

No, it's the general Xiaomi versioning system, and it is used in all their phones, those with MIUI and those with AndroidOne.
And that's an AndroidOne ROM, because it's installed it in my phone right now and I can't see any MIUI.

Then we are doomed. Android One is not for everyone, does not have many options compared with MIUI.
I own both a chinese import redmi 6 pro and a mi a2 lite from a local supplier.
I am sure the A2 lite will become more interesting than the 6 pro as soon as some devs are taking care of it by providing custom roms.
But for the moment the miui 10 dev roms from miglobe and co. offer a much better experience on the 6 pro device than the android one on the mi a2 lite builds.
I don't care a lot for the missing band support as I owned the redmi 4 pro before and never experienced receptions or speed problems.
i am looking forward to see some nice custom roms for the a2 lite.
Regards,
Dom
Any one got an idea about it?
The redmi 6 pro is a treble device too, that means, normally you should be able to extract system.img and flash it via fastboot.
In that case it doesn´t matter wheather the partition scheme is different!
You could give it a try. If it´s not working, you can flash back stock system via miflash (select flash and keep data)
Do we have brave ones to try? ?

I tried to do as it is written here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/miui-10-install-guide-t3844729, but in our firmware did not find similar files to replace * abl.elf
* prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf
* prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_lite.elf
mi flash the error, then I replaced prog_emmc_firehose_8953_ddr.mbn and the download ok, but after installation I caught the bootlap, and returned to the stock through the test point. if anyone can figure out what files need to be replaced in firmware 6 pro, then it is possible to run miui.
Sorry for my English
hi, i want to know if is possible to install stock roms of others phone that have treble, i want to install a EMUI rom from HUAWEI devices, i know that have some HUAWEI devices that have treble like,
Huawei Mate 9
Huawei Mate 9 Pro
Honor 7X
Honor 8
Honor 9
Huawei P10
etc... is this possible?(My phone is a REDMI NOTE 4 WITH UNOFFICAL TREBLE)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/development/treble-emui-8-1-land-t3837357
Hopefully this is what you need.
Sent from my Honor 9 using XDA Labs
Despite Huawei devices supporting treble, the OS isn't built to be treble compatible, Huawei release the entire OS including vendor and bootloader in an update, so, while you could flash the system image, it won't boot since it will need a Huawei vendor, obviously this could be ported, but it's a lot of effort.

Hi All,
Kindly help me out with my few question
M buying redmi note 5 pro 4gb/64gb and i have few question
1. Does this phone have good custom ROM/Kernel support? and are this developers currently(active) working on this device ? it seems like only PE and PE Extended is up to date..
2. Few days ago i have been reading about hardbrick(ARB brick) , ARB , EDL flashing & Mi Authorize account to flash and all that stuff... it seems like if u brick your device it is big pain in the a** to get it back to normal (as compare to my Xperia Z1 and Z2) but is it possible..?
3. Is GCAM working properly on Indian version(Normal Photo and Normal Video atleast..)?
my budget is less and i dont want to spend more money(atleast for 1 year) on POCO F1 or Oneplus 6 hence i decided to buy Redmi note 5 pro after searching on XDA...
The only thing i want in my phone is few stable custom ROMS , kernel is not an big issue i can build my own kernel ...
Thanks...
Wondering about it. I'm thinking of buying one (whichever is cheaper at my place).
Also wondering if it is possible to replace/delete MIUI (im not sure what it is, been thinking it is OS so replacing it with Android One or any custom rom honestly)
Never had a Xiaomi product, so I'm at a lost.
If you prefer a clean vanilla Android experience go with the A2 Lite, if you prefer a heavy customized UI filled with "bloatware" go for the Redmi 6 Pro.
Even though both devices share the "same" hardware, they aren't OS flash compatible.
At the moment, we only have GSI roms when it comes to custom roms, but some people are working on a Lineage port.
Can't speak for the Redmi 6 Pro, better check its forum before buying one of the devices.
There are some differences between both devices. For example there is the different SoC (Snapdragon 636 for Note 6 Pro and the Snapdragon 625 for the Mi A2 Lite). Furthermore the software isn't compatible, if it would, we would have a nice MIUI-Rom for the Mi A2 Lite
But I think that you can replace the MIUI-Stock-Rom of the Redmi Note 6 Pro with another Custom Rom or GSI. This should work and as far as I know there are some Roms :good:

He didn't asked about Redmi 6 *Note* Pro. 6 Pro and A2 Lite use the same hardware.
Edit: The main differences between the 6 Pro and the A2 Lite are the partition scheme and the OS which is used. The 6 Pro has oldschool A type partition scheme, A2 lite uses A/B partition scheme for seamless OS updates and therefore you can't crossflash their stock roms 1:1.

Cleaner? o.o
I forgot to mention I was thinking about Redmi 5X / Mi A1 as well (A2 lite looks like an A1 with a bit of upgraded hardware + MIUI + more battery)
Mi A1 is priced cheaper by a lil bit, but yeah..
So there's no custom roms for A2 Lite yet? I want to root, yep.

There are Treble-Roms, these Roms are like a generic custom rom for many devices. The Mi A2 Lite supports these Roms and it also works fine.

I wouldn't buy a A1 anymore, because you will end up with only one more OS update and one year less of security patches.
Custom roms like Lineage are in the making and you can use GSI roms (just google them). Rooting is no problem, you won't
have any problems with OTA updates after rooting, as long as you don't alter the system partitions.

The R6P is also a treble device, that means, that you are also able to flash gsi roms! And there are more gsi's for the A only scheme... But the R6P has less lte frequencies - it doesnt have band 20 (800 mhz) which is important for europe!
There's already Chinese Edition of iQoo 3 6/128 GB available in Bangladesh. The Indian Edition is not but may be available soon. As there is no 5G available in Bangladesh both Indian and Chinese editions will perform the same.
I'm anxious about the performance of the Chinese ROM as I heard that, different payment applications do not work properly in Chinese ROM of Xiaomi and Realme smartphones.
So, should I go for the Chinese ROM edition or wait for the Indian Edition ?? I want the best possible android experience from iQoo 3.

Thank you for your opinion. But first of all, Poco F2 Pro still isn't available in Bangladesh and secondly, I don't like pop up camera. Thirdly, an extra AI button is important to me. That's why I chose IQOO 3

Negative. I haven’t been able to get my hands on an IQoo 3 because of COVID-19. Later purchased a Realme X2Pro.
