Hi, please help me. Is there any chance to install MIUI 9 ROM on Mi A2 Lite? I can't find the official ROM for that phone. I found only Android One version ROM pack. I wanna buy this phone, I really like the design ect. but I don't like this whole Android One idea (I don't care about earlier updates), I don't like the interface, the icons. I prefer MIUI system overlay. Where can I find it?
Buy a MIUI device. There are plenty of them.

It is called Redmi 6 Pro, it's the Mi A2 Lite with MIUI (but without LTE 800 MHz frequency).
I know but that's not the answer, besides I have Redmi Note 4 already and I want A2 Lite not different model.

useless the for large amount of people so thats not a solution to the posters question
I'm not sure why anyone would prefer a MIUI device over Android one, but seems to be that by making two versions Xiaomi is giving us plenty of options.. (not to mention adding more devices to their already convoluted line up). Depending on the 4G coverage with your provider/country not having band 20 might not even be a big deal.
Not every country has Redmi 6 Pro available...
since it's only for China Region (CMIIW)
and Mi A2 Lite is "more Global" with vanilla OS
me too want a MIUI OS over Mi A2 Lite due to MIUI's feature (such as, hide notch, hide nav-bar and using full swipe gesture, etc..)
any idea to flash MIUI over MiA2 Lite?
or can we just flash Redmi 6 Pro's ROM over MiA2 Lite device? is it compatible (it should be, due to the same hardware spec, CMIIW again)
It is not possible to flash Redmi 6 Pro (sakura) ROM on Mi A2 Lite (daisy).
A slight chance to do so could be by flashing it in EDL mode, but even if I get EDL permission from Xiaomi, I won't take that risk.
The only safe way is to wait some developer that ports sakura ROM to daisy. It could be even easier if a MIUI treble ROM exists (I don't know if it exists, as I dislike MIUI).

No, it's the general Xiaomi versioning system, and it is used in all their phones, those with MIUI and those with AndroidOne.
And that's an AndroidOne ROM, because it's installed it in my phone right now and I can't see any MIUI.

Then we are doomed. Android One is not for everyone, does not have many options compared with MIUI.
I own both a chinese import redmi 6 pro and a mi a2 lite from a local supplier.
I am sure the A2 lite will become more interesting than the 6 pro as soon as some devs are taking care of it by providing custom roms.
But for the moment the miui 10 dev roms from miglobe and co. offer a much better experience on the 6 pro device than the android one on the mi a2 lite builds.
I don't care a lot for the missing band support as I owned the redmi 4 pro before and never experienced receptions or speed problems.
i am looking forward to see some nice custom roms for the a2 lite.
Regards,
Dom
Any one got an idea about it?
The redmi 6 pro is a treble device too, that means, normally you should be able to extract system.img and flash it via fastboot.
In that case it doesn´t matter wheather the partition scheme is different!
You could give it a try. If it´s not working, you can flash back stock system via miflash (select flash and keep data)
Do we have brave ones to try? ?

I tried to do as it is written here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/miui-10-install-guide-t3844729, but in our firmware did not find similar files to replace * abl.elf
* prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf
* prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_lite.elf
mi flash the error, then I replaced prog_emmc_firehose_8953_ddr.mbn and the download ok, but after installation I caught the bootlap, and returned to the stock through the test point. if anyone can figure out what files need to be replaced in firmware 6 pro, then it is possible to run miui.
Sorry for my English

it would be possible to load the global rom of A2 Lite in Redmi 6 pro, thanks
If it's like the Mi 5X and Mi A1 situation (and probably it is), the answer is no.
If you want to risk (but I warn you that the risk to brick your phone is high, and it's all your responsibility, you can flash the full Mi A2 Lite ROM from here via MiFlash or via fastboot. If something goes wrong you can try to flash back the Redmi 6 Pro ROM from here, always via MiFlash or fastboot.
EDIT: I downloaded the full ROMs of both phones, and after a quick comparison, I can see that they use a different partitioning scheme (classic for 6Pro, A/B type for A2L), so 99,9% a direct ROM flash won't work (just like Mi A1).
thank friend, I will not try.
I need global versión for spanish lenguaje.
thanks again for solving my question.
Why don't you use the Xiaomi.eu version?
First of all, you must unlock the bootloader of your phone.
Then you need a working TWRP. This one is confirmed working but you need to register in this German forum to download it.
Then go to Xiaomi.eu forum and download the latest beta for HM6Pro (I usually prefer the stable version, but it's not ready yet for 6Pro) and flash it via TWRP.
I have some doubt
the unlocking of the bootloader is the same as for A1 and all Xiaomi?
What is the latest beta version?
sorry for my ignorance
Very thanks.

No, for the MIUI phones this is the unlocking process (it's the tutorial for the Redmi Note 4X, but it works for every MIUI phone).
For the Android One phones (i.e. Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite) the unlocking is extremely simpler.

You can find the latest beta here.
Go to the newest directory and search for the ROM with the name "xiaomi.eu_multi_HM6Pro..." (remember that HM6Pro is your phone code, while its nickname is "sakura"). If you can't find the image for your phone on the newest directory, search it on the second newest directory, and so on.
There is usually a new beta every 7 days, but you don't need to update every week if the phone is working without problems.
okay friend, I'll try. Thank you very much for the help. If I have any doubt I will bother you again.

No.
As I said above, you cannot flash A2 Lite ROM on Redmi 6 Pro. That means you cannot flash Redmi 6 Pro ROM on A2 Lite, too.
I would like to do the opposite. Installing the xiaomi.eu on the MiA2 Lite as I prefer MIUI over AOSP interface.
Is it possible without risks? I fear the double partition prevent me from succeding

It's not very safe to do, and 99% it will not work. But if you want to take the risk, do it. Just keep ready the daisy fastboot ROM for fixing. And don't lock the bootloader or the damage will be unrecoverable.
May be my question is stupide, but is it possible to change the partitioning scheme from A/B type to classic for example. If it will be, can changing easy the ROM? Or something else? If it possible, how can I do this?
Thank you!

I already wrote how it could be possible: flashing the Redmi 6 Pro ROM in EDL mode.
But you need permission from Xiaomi to flash in EDL mode, and you can flash only one time for account.
You can ask for permission on en.miui.com forum.
And, as I said, I would not try that on my phone.
I have already unlocked the bootloader but I have a question, and tried to install the ROM through Xiaomi miflash and I get error (miflash can not found file flash_all_lock.bat). Also read in this forum that there is possibility of bricked for version 9.6.17.0, this is true?
Any Update ? OR Any Improvement ?
O Have mi A2 Lite, Android one don't like me. Miui.eu Rock!!! Anyone port this ROM please
Last time i checked, ( 10 minutes before posting this), The specs for Mi A2 Lite and Redmi 6 pro are totally the same, except the network bands. We can even assume that Redmi 6 pro is just rebranded version of Mi A2 Lite for India (and some other countries where they are being sold, if any). So, is it at all possible to flash that Android one directly into Redmi 6 pro, or do we need to make some modifications to the package.
Another short question...(as am a newbie and i would like the community to push my knowledge limit a little further). Is it at all possible to flash android one on to any other phone, whatever the specs maybe(same and different).
Edit - I found some interesting facts - Mi A2 Lite is indeed the Global version of Redmi 6 pro
- Redmi 6 pro uses a classic partitioning system while A2 lite uses the A/B system. So direct flashing the stock android one rom will brick it.
New questions - is there any ways to change the partition system from one to the other?
is there some way, we 'stock rom' lust hounds get a hand on it using this 6 pro?
And did you think about the notch?

Did it work

Basically you can't flash Android one version of daisy on sakura. You can port android one for sakura or install a previous one which is ported and almost works fine.

Hey! I've been thinking the same thing, and I've tinkered around the fastboot stock images for both the A2 Lite and the 6 Pro. The stock image for Daisy contains a img named "partition" and I think this is what makes the A/B partition in the phone. I haven't tried it, But I'm think of doing it. editing all the flash_all.sh files in the Android One ROM from the A2 Lite, i.e replacing all codename "daisy" with "sakura" so it doesn't throw a invalid device error. I'll update

I have two questions :

Thanks for the feedback on the method. Could you also share with us on this thread when/if you find a way to put MIUI on Mi a2 lite?
Hello readers,
i've bought an A2 lite for testing purposes and was also interested in modding the device - rund MIUI on it would be fantastic.
After reading some posts here and in the Mi A2 thread i thought i was ready to try the transformation
Unlocked the A2 lite, prepared the fastboot images.
I tried it with older Android 8.1 images dated July 2018 because they had the same Version state V9.4.x.x and to avoid a brick because of the later introduced Anti-Rollback function.
Sadly the partition information & structure of the Mi A2 and the Mi A2 lite differs in some very important parts (partition scheme & image file type).
There is missing at least one corresponding image file/partition on the A2 lite compared to the A2.
Tried to get to know if there is any possible alternate image to choose but was not successful.
Flashing failed everytime therefore i tried to go the way vice versa
Took the flash files from the Redmi 6 Pro and the ddr & bootloader files from Mi A2 lite.
Changed the checksums and flashed that bundle.
Flashing SEEMED to be successful desvice rebooted and BECAME A WONDERFUL BRICK on my desk.
Conclusion: Kids don't try this at home!
It was not possible to tun the device on again!
... have not tried to open the device and go to EDL-Mode because of the fact that there was no life sign from device at all.
I'll try some other methods within the next weeks with a new unit arrived a couple of days ago but we may have to accept that an conversion is not possible.

Wondering about it. I'm thinking of buying one (whichever is cheaper at my place).
Also wondering if it is possible to replace/delete MIUI (im not sure what it is, been thinking it is OS so replacing it with Android One or any custom rom honestly)
Never had a Xiaomi product, so I'm at a lost.
If you prefer a clean vanilla Android experience go with the A2 Lite, if you prefer a heavy customized UI filled with "bloatware" go for the Redmi 6 Pro.
Even though both devices share the "same" hardware, they aren't OS flash compatible.
At the moment, we only have GSI roms when it comes to custom roms, but some people are working on a Lineage port.
Can't speak for the Redmi 6 Pro, better check its forum before buying one of the devices.
There are some differences between both devices. For example there is the different SoC (Snapdragon 636 for Note 6 Pro and the Snapdragon 625 for the Mi A2 Lite). Furthermore the software isn't compatible, if it would, we would have a nice MIUI-Rom for the Mi A2 Lite
But I think that you can replace the MIUI-Stock-Rom of the Redmi Note 6 Pro with another Custom Rom or GSI. This should work and as far as I know there are some Roms :good:

He didn't asked about Redmi 6 *Note* Pro. 6 Pro and A2 Lite use the same hardware.
Edit: The main differences between the 6 Pro and the A2 Lite are the partition scheme and the OS which is used. The 6 Pro has oldschool A type partition scheme, A2 lite uses A/B partition scheme for seamless OS updates and therefore you can't crossflash their stock roms 1:1.

I wouldn't buy a A1 anymore, because you will end up with only one more OS update and one year less of security patches.
Custom roms like Lineage are in the making and you can use GSI roms (just google them). Rooting is no problem, you won't
have any problems with OTA updates after rooting, as long as you don't alter the system partitions.

The R6P is also a treble device, that means, that you are also able to flash gsi roms! And there are more gsi's for the A only scheme... But the R6P has less lte frequencies - it doesnt have band 20 (800 mhz) which is important for europe!
