Straight Talk data issues - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have had my 10 for about a month, I had already had AT&T coverage and just inserted my AT&T sim in the device and it worked flawlessly. Straight Talk is $15.00 a month cheaper even after my corporate discount with AT&T and data if 5gb at LTE and unlimited at slower speeds where AT&T is only 2GB of data.
So I decided to switch. Both my Wife and daughter use Straight Talk and have no issues. However after I ported my number and switched the phone piece works fine I can make and receive calls, however my data does not work at all. I have contacted them several times over the past couple days and they have given me a couple of different APN settings to use.
When I insert the sim or do a reset to default on the APN it gives me a menu of choices. Straight Talk is in the menu. Those settings (apn: tfdata) do not work (these are the same exact settings that are working on my wife's phone. Straight talk had me set up a Reseller apn with AT&T settings but they don't work either. Data was working fine when I was on AT&T, but now all of a sudden it doesn't work.
EDIT: HTC 10 STOCK not rooted, not modded. Just stock US 1.53.617.5
1. Is anyone using straight talk with a AT&T/unlocked StraightTalk sim and also having issues
2. If you are using these and your data is working can you please post your APN settings?
Straight talk is giving me the runaround on getting this working, I am not an idiot and have entered, re-entered, rebooted many times before I even called them and then humored the tech and repeated steps that I had already done while on the phone with them. My gut tells me that something is wrong in their system with the provisioning or something and no matter what I do with the phone it isn't going to work, but I am not having any luck getting that
across to them.
EDIT: Thanks for your answers. After I got home from work I swapped sim cards from my wife's working Nexus 6p and my non-working HTC 10 The issue followed the sim card. Her phone with my sim card no longer had data, while my phone with her sim card had working data. Armed with this I called Straight Talk back and they are sending me a new ATT sim for my phone. In the meantime I had a T-Mobile Straight Talk nano sim laying on my desk so I activated that on my phone and it is working with data and phone with no issues. Apparently the first sim card they sent me had issues.

I'm on Straight Talks 10gb/month plan and am having nothing but the best of service. These are my settings.

I've been using Straight Talk on my 10 since I got it. My apn is the tfdata settings. I might have to try this reseller apn as it seems interesting. I've never seen it before. I put my SIM card in, selected Straight Talk as carrier, told me to reboot, no issues.

As far as I know this only affects users who do not yet have a pre-paid card or are trying to re-add their pre-paid card after wiping their device (i.e. me). If your pre-paid card is already active you should not have any issues using it.
In my opinion this issue has been blown way out of proportion...
Oh I agree completely. Its still at least as secure as my actual wallet. In my case more so, as I have a pin on my phone, and of course GW too. Those along with Cerberus to find/wipe as needed I feel as safe as can be expected.
I'll try to use it today when I leave the gym. There's a CVS right next door that has Paypass.
The rumors I've been reading suggest that as long as you have funds remaining on your Prepaid Card you can continue to use it as usual - but I don't think the balance will update after a transaction due to the whole "cannot contact bank" message in your screenshot. When you need to top up the card (which you'll only know is out of funds when it gets declined, I suppose), you'll be out of luck.
Don't reset or you won't be able to add it back.. That's the boat im in now essentially breaks wallet for me now since I don't use citi... wish they would fix it already
According to Money Network support they are supposed to have this feature back up and working in the next day or two.
Yea I used it 2/9 and I had the transaction location along with the deduction from my prepaid amount available. It looks like this only affects new activations. Everything seems to be working fine for me.
If there is still a balance left on it then u can use the balance amount but u cannot add anymore funds to it.

I can confirm that I can still purchase things, the balance updates, and I can even see the last 4 of the prepaid card (user id).

I can confirm that I can not purchase anything since I can't connect to the money network.. I have $28 loaded, still getting declined.
Not only is mine working again, I was just able to add funds to my card.
Still won't let me re-add my prepaid card...

I am in the same boat after flashing AOKP 23.
For this hack to even work, someone needs your phone. If my phone is lost or stolen, Google wallet would be the least of my concern. My saved passwords on my browser would be 100x worse than this hack

I've been hearing both here and from calling Money Network that it should be resolved by Friday or Monday. I don't know if you'll have to call to get your card reprovisioned (would make sense to me, since it's a "security" issue) or if it will just start working on its own.

[q] verizon 4g lte drops connection

I have a nexus on verizon and occasionally drops my mobile connection (voice and data) when I have 4g enabled. Everything works and stays up when I only have it set for 3g. I'm using the latest radio and bootloader with BB jellybean.
Has anybody had this issue before and was able to fix it with a software update or does it usually end up with having to exchange the phone? I'm really hesitant on swapping phones because everything else works great except for this issue. I was wondering if I could fix it with re-flashing everything.

I have same problem. I purchased my phone from eBay a couple days ago and I installed BB JellyBean after activated it. I didn't really care about 4g at the time. But, now with JellyBean, I can't use 4g (full-coverage) because it drops 4g/voice within a couple of seconds and I do not have any connection. However, with 3g only, everything works great.
I don't know if I purchased faulty device or not. But, everything works fine except 4g. I read many complaints about 4g connection on Nexus. so, I may just deal with it because I can live with JellyBean and 3g data with unlimited plan.
does it happen on ICS? JB hasnt been officially released for the vzw nexus.
return to stock and see if it happens.

I'm going thru something similar...I think the radios on the vzw gnex are not the best. I've been tweeting @vzwsupport ..they told me to remove sim card wait for 30 secs put back in and check but connection still sucks. Granted, I just want 3g...no 4g in my area. Just be hearing back from them in a few.

Anyone with Unlimited Data get a Certified Like New Replacement?

So I am a little hesitant about activating the replacement device I received today...I got my Nexus before they switched to the shared data and was told I can keep it until I activate another 4G phone. I am wondering if their automated systems will treat this device as a new phone considering its got a different serial and all. Has anyone went through this recently?

I haven't done it recently, but that shouldn't be an issue.
Can't you just pop your sim in and go?
This is my first 4G device with a sim so I wasnt quite sure how exactly it will work out and calling Verizon didnt help at all the two ladies I talked to couldnt grasp the question I was asking with one telling me that as long as the Unlimited Data is on my account i'll never lose it...Figured I was much better coming here instead

I have unlimited data on VZW, and I had an LG Revolution, granted this example is before the shared data BS, I just bought a used GNexus off ebay about 2 months ago. I just walked into the store, said I need to get a micro SIM (REVO used full size SIM), they got me a new micro SIM, even activated it for me, and I specifically said I want to make sure my plan does not change and she said of course not, and it did not.
You should only loose it if you buy a new phone from them and then re-up your contract.
From this point forward pretty much all VZW customers with unlimited plans need to buy phones from other sources than VZW.

This is true. You will only lose your unlimited if you use a subsidy or do a transfer of liability.
Thanks guys it went off without a hitch and when i checked with *#*#RTN#*#* i was surprised to find that this phone has not been reconditioned...So I am assuming its new which is nice...Its a v.9 though while my previous one was a .10. Doesn't look like the signal has improved though so far which is frustrating.

Its a refurbished phone. Trust me. They're good at refurbing the nexus. I have no idea why you thought you'd lose unlimited...all you have to do is slip in your SIM, no activation required.

Problems with calls and text (to iPhone)

Ok so here is the issue. I have 2 phones (Note3 on Tmobile, and Samsung Rugby Smart...workphone on AT&T). My fiancè has an iPhone on AT&T and she rarely recieves my calls and texts. I thought at first it was the iPhone...but it seems like it is my Note. We did a test...i sent a text from the note and rugby, the rugby went through, note did not. Same thing with calls....I ended up doing a warranty exchange with Tmobile (not very happy about that..since they sent me a re-manufactured device), and this is still happening.
Any thoughts...suggestions...?
Thanks in advance.
(P.s.....i am not routed, iphone not jailbroken)

Sounds more like a network or interoperability issue. I test iPhone users without issues. Not sure which carrier they are on though.
Try turning off wifi. I have seen posts about issues with wifi and sms/mms. I've never had a problem, but might as well try. Also try texting from the note to your work phone, and back. Are you using the stock messaging app or a third party one? Try stock.
Another option is using the sim from your work phone. You will need Tmobile to give you an unlock code. If you explain what you are doing, I think they will give you one. Or try an att prepaid sim if your work phone uses a different size.
It sounds more like a Tmobile to att network problem to me... But that can narrow it down. Try disabling LTE for testing. I wonder if VoLTE is part of it...

My wifi is off....since we have unlimited data, and stock messaging app.The sim cards are not swappable. The Rugby is OLD....Its on Gingerbread..lol and it had a regular sim, not micro. These problems were before VoLte. She does not have rhe iphone cloud texting app setting activated either. I do appreciate your suggestions! Thank you.
I have tried everything....been to both Tmobile and Apple/At&T stores, troubleshot networks, master reset both phones.......
Just all out of ideas.

Anyone??

Before the Note 3 were you using an iPhone? If so, it may be an Apple issue. Google for Apple iPhone iMessage
I had an iphone in Early 2010. Think i ditched it for an HTC evo in March 2010..??

No. It needs to be SIM unlocked, paid off & not blacklisted. I bought one off of Craigslist. Had the guy meet me at a metro store to verify that it was all good. Fortunately, all went well. It'll cost you $10 for the micro sim card + $15 for the "ESN" change on your account.
It doesn't need to be unlocked metropcs is a T-Mobile mvno they run on the same towers but if you want to unlock it nothing to lose just request for an unlock code but if you haven't bought it yet take other guys advice if buying on Craigslist or if buying on eBay ask for the imei and check the status through T-Mobile
I'm just stating what Metro PCS Corporate told me directly. ALL phones (Including ANY T-Mobile phones) MUST be unlocked. Without exception. Their words - not mine. Was I surprised? Oh yes! I too thought since T-Mobile & Metro PCS are essentially one & the same that one wouldn't need it to be unlocked. NOT so. Don't take my word for it - call their TOLL FREE 888-863-8768 number & ask 'em. They'll confirm what I've said here.

I personally used my old droid dna on Metro pcs. It wasn't sim unlocked, just put a Metro sim in. Granted since I hadn't changed anything else it only got 3g data. But since it is T-Mobile M8 on Metro pcs you should have no issues.
Luck favors you indeed. Go here: https://www.metropcs.com/content/metro/en/desktop/metro/offers/bring-your-own-phone
Their own website says it MUST be unlocked.
