My Xperia play has started an annoying trend of having a black screen. Usually I took the battery out left it a while put the charger and battery in and the screen would work. however the screen is not working. The light on the power button is indicating it is working but when I press the power button it just vibrates. I haven't altered any running programs in anyway. Anyone know what to do?
Thanks in advance.

Don't quite understand your situation.
Firstly, are you on stock or have you done anything with your phone (roms, bootloader unlock etc). have you installed a recovery?
secondly you mention this has happened before & if you do a battery pull it works fine?
at times when your battery is so used up, it takes a while for the phone to come on.
charge the phone for a while when it's switched off & then try turning it on.
Technically, since the charging light is coming on & the phone vibrates, and more importantly since this has happened in the past, it shouldn't be "bricked" unless the situation gets worse
I was in the same situation mate, i have flashed it to stock, relocked bl flashed it with wotan, connected it to the charger.. but anyways if i turn it on it vibrates and the screen was still black. No Sony Ericsson Logo!
I have send it to SE Service, they repaired the screen.. btw.. its the same screen with same scratches as before.. until now i dont know what was the problem
Hi People.
My HOX was fell from the car while i was driving...so it fall really hard against the concrete floor.... i stop the car to getting my HOX back and assuming its gonna be broken or something ...but instead it was almost intact ...no broken glass or screen... it only was dirty and just a few scratches ( i use a gel silicone case ...really works)... well now i was able to turn it up and see the real damage . after a few tries it didnt do nothing, just vibrates like when you turn it on , but the screen was black...after more tries... the miracle come true the screen turn on and i was very happy...i unlocked the phone and the screen freeze out ... i restart my hox by pressing power button about ten seconds and after that... the screen stays blank ( black , dead) for ever an ever , but all the other things like the three buttons lights works and the red/green led notification works ...but i was devastated.
The other part of the story is that i was trying to restore all he important file... but the usb option was on "only charge" so wasnt able to get into the folder like windows...after that i think in a way to control the phone with sdk adb an other things... and i try two softwares, moborobo and android screencast.. i was surprised when i connect my HOX to my pc ...and open the software (screencast or moborobo) and again i see the light at the end of the tunnel... i saw my lockscreen in this virtual android controller software , then i slide my finger to unlock my phone ...and surprise ...it still work....as i saw it in this virtual controller on my pc the touch screen works great ...the only thing it doesnt work in my HOX is the screen , and its not broken...
ANY IDEA??? SOFTWARE?...HARDWARE?...SCREEN CRACKED? SCREEN DISCONNECTED?
is there an apk who can check hardware or software and tell you whats wrong on your phone...like a scanner??
the technical services here doest exists for this model yet.... cause the HOX is almost new and not too popular ..
thanks...
sorry about my english.
cheers from Chile
The G3 just dropped down on the floor with the circle case. Then It was working some minutes apparently with no problem, until I myself turn the phone off and restart it. Then the device just didn't turn on. The only thing is that the screen is black and the led notification blinking green and blue
when i connect the charger, the red led blinks once and then disappears, then after 30 seconds the red led appears which apparently shows that the phone is charging the battery. Also When I connect the phone to the PC, a sound of connection is heard from PC but the PC doesn't complete the device recognition process as no new device is found.
I tried to make a hard reset, but nothing happens when I press the power and volume down keys. Tried some other tricks with the battery and the hard keys on the phone but no result at all, as the same story just repeats. Does anybody have a solution for the problem? This devise is the only android device I have
Help
Please Help :crying:

Did you do anything else after/during the time that the phone was off? And is there no possibility that you cracked the LCD digitizer? I mean it might sound strange but this is what I had with my old phone. I dropped it, nothing serious but then I put it in my pocket and upon taking it out I noticed the screen not turning on. As stated above, my digitizer was broken and multiple people told me that the digitizer had a small crack which I didn't notice, then when I put it in my pocket I put too much pressure on the digitizer cracking it. The LED-light did work though, and this sounds very similar so my advise going to the store and asking wether they know what the problem might be.
(Hopefully this was helpfull hehe)

If you Don't see the LG splash screen when pressing the power button it seems like a screen or digitizer problem for sure.
BUT;
after you try turning it "on" let it sit a few minutes and see if you can call your self or send a text to see if it makes noise vibrates etc. to confirm a screen problem.
OR
Also you can try putting it into download mode.
Battery pull (don't turn on)
plug USB into phone but not computer
Hold volume down AND then plug usb into computer
if this comes up to a pic of something on the phone it will be software related. to get out of this mode you can do a battery pull.
Remember to always read up on topics and things you are doing. There are guides here on XDA to help you out.
Hope you get your phone working

I didn't do anything special after/during the time the phone was off. I checked the screen very carefully under a lamp. No particular sign of crack. Thank you very much for sharing ur experience.:good:

I tried to put it into download mode, but no result at all as no connection could also be made between the phone and PC. Moreover, I tried to make a text/call, but nothing is received by the phone. Thank you very much for ur suggestions.

Seems like the drop damaged the memory and the phone can't reload it, you will have to bring it in

Yeah that's plausible ! I'd bring it in too
Hope you fix your phone fast
Yeah... Probably it's a hardware problem. Someone who checked the phone in order to fix it, said that the problem had been with the device board. Even though I was satisfied with the phone, I have found out that the G3 is a sensitive device, as the height of the table from which it dropped down wasn't too much. So always take care of your G3 phone.
iv'e had this phone for not too long and well everything is just fine, love the phone but this happened today after i got back from school i was feeling the phone in my pocket, but i didn't know that i was actually touching the phone and when i pulled it out it was stuck on this dark gray screen with a small white/light gray camera icon at the bottom. i don't know what this is, but i can still charge the phone, i can listen to music via pressing the play button on the headphones, if i hold the power button i can feel and hear the option to turn off the phone, but nothing happens i can turn the phone on and off i can also turn on the phone using the knock code so i know my touchscreen still works. please help, thanks in advance apparently i can screen shot it as well
Hey all,
I just helped a friend change the screen of his Desire 816. The old screen was badly damaged and we got a LCD and digitizer combo and I changed it successfully, or so I thought. When its off and I connect it to its charger, It lights up and displays the HTC logo, followed by the battery charging animation. All looks OK.
Then I press the power button. The screen goes off, phone vibrates and switches on BUT THE SCREEN STAYS OFF. I can tell the phone boots because the HTC boot sound plays and the phone vibrates a little after from some notification or other and my PC recognises the phone normally. But I can't use the screen at all. I have to do a battery pull to switch off the phone or wait till the battery runs out. And when I connect the charger again while its off.... HTC logo...
I'm so frustrated right now. My friend isn't saying anything but he's not happy. I'm hoping there's something I forgot to do or something. Can anyone help me, please?
Anyone? Please?....
