i747 Galaxy S3 only boots into download mode, Odin Stuck on "Initialization"
Hey guys, so I finally decided to post here after spending an embarrassing amount of time trying to fix my problem and getting nowhere. I have an i747 Samsung Galaxy S3 that gets stuck on the loading screen when booting, and won't go into recovery mode (download mode works fine). I have tried to flash the original 4.3 firmware using Odin with no success...it keeps getting stuck on the "Initialization" step. I've tried 3 different cables, 2 different laptops with 5 usb ports in total, 3 different versions of Odin (3.07, 3.09, 3.10) all to no avail. I have downloaded the Samsung Mobile Drivers and my computer does recognize the device (though it thinks its a modem and not a phone). I'd appreciate some assistance in reviving my device, thanks!
Might be important so i'll mention it. I cannot remember the most recent firmware that the phone was displaying before it died, it might have been 4.1 or 4.2 but I read somewhere else that if it says "Warranty Bit" in download mode that implies it is 4.3?
I've also tried using two different md5 files, one from http://androidromupdate.com/att-samsung-galaxy-s3-sgh-i747-odin-stock-firmware/ and the other from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722660&page=5
In download mode, my phone displays this:
Odin Mode
Product Name: SGH-I747
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable
Warranty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2

Since your phone is the i747, there is not stock firmware that can be flashed with Odin that is newer than 4.1.1. All updates for the i747 were released via OTA updates.
I suggest verifying the bootloader and modem on your phone before flashing anything else as an incompatible bootloader and modem combination can hard brick the phone.
To get the phone booted, I would flash TWRP for the d2lte via Odin and then flash a custom ROM such as cm12.1. Once booted you can veriify the bootloader and modemr and modem.

Interesting. How do I verify the bootloader and modem on the phone? Does the information provided in download mode tell me this? I have no way of booting up the phone to check its settings.
Also regarding OTA, do you think this guide would work for me? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068

Your phone is not bricked so I would not use that thread.
Download the latest tar version of twrp for the d2lte (AT&T version of s3) from here: https://dl.twrp.me/d2att/
Download the latest CM11 from here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte
Download the 4.4 Gapps package for ARM from here: http://opengapps.org/?api=4.4&variant=nano
Download Odin 3.07 from here: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...168421&usg=AFQjCNEdxqAS5QWImOPDJboTA_V3D5S9eA
Boot the phone into download mode, open Odin 3.07, uncheck everything except f.reset time. Flash TWRP in the PDA slot. When you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone remove the battery, wait 5 seconds, replace the battery, boot the phone into recovery mode using the home, power, and volume up button. When the phone boots to recovery mode, you should see the TWRP recovery.
With the phone in TWRP, connect the phone to the computer, copy cm11 and Gapps to the phone's internal storage.
Within TWRP, wipe the system, cache, data, install cm11, install gapps, reboot.

Thanks, i'll definitely be trying this!
Just to make sure i'm following the steps correctly, by latest CM11 is that the latest release, or latest release recovery? And for the the 4.4 Gapps package for ARM, i'm not sure which option to select under "variant". It is on nano by default, should I select stock?

I tried that too, but I get status 7 and 0 in recovery. I've tried cm 13.1-cm 11..ugh when I try to wipe cache, it gets stuck. I hear when that happens I have a soft brick. What should I do?

Did you get twrp on the phone? Maybe try version 2.8.7.

Tried old cwm, twrp 3.0 and twrp 2.8

Flash a custom rom from recovery to get the phone booted.

Hey audit. When I tried downloading the latest twrp as you suggested, after extracting the file i'm only left with a recovery.img file. When using Odin and selecting PDA, it doesn't recognize the .img file and so I can't select it. I thought I need a tarmd5 file to flash with odin? Please advise me on how to proceed, thanks. (Btw, i tried downloading both the twrp-3.0.2-0-d2att.img.tar and the twrp-3.0.2-0-d2att.img, they both gave me recovery.img files when extracted).
Also I have another question, could you point me in the direction of a data cable that is 100% Odin approved? I'd really like to eliminate the possibility of a non-effective data cable preventing Odin from working properly.

Was and is t999l coming with a locked bootloader?

Don't extract the twrp tar file, just flash it in Odin.
T999L should not have a locked bootloader.

When I put this in the PDA slot and click start, it just gets stuck on initialization again. No matter what I try and flash it just gets stuck on the initialization step...
Based on the threads below, it seems I have a hardware problem and will need to replace the motherboard. *sigh*

So i try the hard reset but it has an error too.. "MDM does not allow factoryReset. Phone will REBOOT automatically" dfq!..
I don`t know the problem.. I just buy this tab at the market and used it .. nothing else.. its not rooted or no custom rom apply , or kernel .. just the stockrom

We need more info .
Samsung Galaxy tab s ?
T700,T705,T800,T805 ?
Google "Odin" and how to use it to flash the stock firmware or CF-Auto-root for your device specifics .if you end up rooting it than use Flashify to flashed TWRP so you can format internal storage to solve the issue.

Im so sorry..im searching some custom rom for Galaxy Tab S 10.5 to completely reset my tablet... for the ODIN, still stucked up .. i think its because i upgraded the firmware using samsung kies yesterday.. and now i dont really know what to do... do you have any custom rom for galaxy s tab 10.5 ?
You can't ROM it unless you have root.
Unplug it and power it up .
Have you tried the stock firmware Odin file in the development section .download and extract below tar.file and run it in Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2800372
Try above Odin file before we
start over.
1: Uninstall kies from your computer
2: grab USB drivers for your device from Samsung's website
3: on your computer go to "device manager" and look under "portable devices" and "other devices" to delete/uninstall drivers and restart computer.
4: connect your tablet and install downloaded drivers from Samsung .eject tablet when finished
5: re download the CF-Auto-root and extract it for use again(delete all previous root/drivers so you don't mix them up)
6: boot into download mode with button combo and re connect your phone to computer and start Odin.
7: navigate to extracted
CF-Auto-root location and open file in AP or PDA slot and run it again.
Seriously no matter what you do and what the screen says ,you can still end up with a partial/bad download.oh and kies is no good cause it knows that your device is up to date.

Give it time to boot,if it don't boot after ten minutes than do the button combo till you get into download mode and start over yet again as far as Odin the stock file and than TWRP .don't wipe right after flashing TWRP ,let it boot first than boot into recovery with another app called "reboot" purple with a yellow lightning bolt is the apps icon

Get it to boot after root and custom recovery and then just format the internal SD card and then I'll take care of your situation

Also you need to be more descriptive about what you've done or followed so far .I can give better instructions accordingly

Try to be as specific to what exactly you have tried.
Why are you trying to wipe the EFS ?
If it's in fact a T-Mobile Note 4 than the Odin method should work with no problem assuming you follow the instructions fully.

Tab Pro 12.2 - Unable to install TWRP - please help

I have a galaxy tab pro 12.2 wifi that I rooted via the CFauto-root (v2wifi) method. After a bit of a struggle getting it to root (it kept getting stuck at the cache.img step in odin, but finally worked when I tried it using a different PC even though the samsung drivers worked on both machines), I am unable to install TWRP using Flashify or via Odin.
Flashing via Odin seems to complete successfully, and it seems to flash successfully when I try through Flashify, but on reboot after either method, it just boots to the stock recovery. I've tried TWRP 2.8.0 and 2.8.5. I have tried running the root package again and it completes, but I cant seem to get around this issue.
Please help!

When your in odin, Untick auto reboot box. Then flash the twrp file in odin then force reboot by holding power, home, volume up and down buttons all at the same time till it reboots.
Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately that didn't seem to work either. It just locked on the samsung logo on reboot after trying that. Fortunately I was able to make some progress finally by flashing an old stock base (AND4), rerooting and flashing TWRP 2.8.0 from Odin. Even after going to the old stock base, flashing TWRP from Flashify wouldn't stick, and flashing 2.8.5 from Odin wouldn't either. It was only flashing 2.8.0 from Odin after going to the old base that worked. Never had so much trouble getting rooted and recovery on a device. Also a big thanks to Trav06 for getting a debloated stock rom for the 12.2. Flashed last night and its running well so far.

Unfortunately I have the same experience as you. It just lokced on the T-900 screen. I end up reflashed a stock recovery with ODIN. I am seeking solution too.
I was finally able to get it working by flashing TWRP 2.8.0 via Odin 3.09 after flashing back to an old samsung base (pre-ANK1). I couldn't get TWRP 2.8.5 to hold if thats what version you are trying.

Yes, TWRP 2.8.5 is not working, I tried more than 5 times. I have ANK1 and TWRP 2.8.0. They work fine together.
Hi All - Same issue here. Same resolution.
For anyone needing an old stock base to flash to, I've mirrored AND4 here.
I downloaded it from Sammobile but their downloads are really slow, so just thought I'd put a mirror here in case it helps anyone.
I had the same issue and flashed back to AND4, but now I cannot root. It gets stuck on the cache.img and eventually fails.
Any ideas? Would like to be able to get TWRP on it.

[Q] 4G LTE issue

Hi guys. I got new N900T phone with stock rom. Latest updated was 4.4.2
Few days before Lollipo come up, I rooted my phone and when Lollipop 5.0 was published I installed 4.4.2 stock via Odin to update rom to 5.0 official. and I done that. All worked fine and as u all know, we couldnt write to SD card. My GPS worked fast, but I wanted SD card write. I rooted my phone to install SD fix, but I couldnt do that somehow (i got some errors) and I flashed official 5.0 Lollipop again via Odin. After that my GPS doesnt want to lock and I reset nv_build (something like that), now my GSP working but still I need 5-10 mins to lock. I have 4G issue now, even if I switch it to LTE, I dont get 4G LTE signal. When I put my SIM card to other 4G phone, 4G working, but on my phone doesnt want to work. ANy suggestion? solution? idea? to somehow reset 4G network, idk. 3G working. Ty

Boot into twrp recovery, wipe data, system, internal storage, cache, dalvik cache. Pull battery for the 30 seconds. Insert battery. Enter download mode. Flash full stock 5.0 lollipop tar found on this thread. Maybe you already have the tar. Your phone should be good to go after that clean install.

Are you rooted? You have to root first using cf-auto root and then you install twrp recovery using odin. Do you need help on rooting phone or do you already know how to do that?
---------- Post added at 10:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 AM ----------
I saw in your post that you have already rooted your device so after your stick rooted, boot into DL mode and flash this file in Odin on your pc and it will install twrp recovery. https://dl.twrp.me/hltetmo/twrp-2.8.6.0-hltetmo-4.4.img.tar.html

Hi. Thx again for your time. There was a issue with TWRP file from twrp website. I found another one here on XDA and worked great. I wiped all what u wrote in your post, installed again 5.0 stock via Odin and still 4G/LTE doesnt work.

Tab Pro 10.1 ROM problem - tablet hung

My tablet kept locking on the SAMSUNG startup screen. Previously, I had to do a hard reset. It just happened again. Now I think the original ROM image is lost or damaged. I can do a hard reset, but upon reboot, it does not load the factory image and ask the new computer questions. I have the Wi-Fi SM-T520 and can't find a stock ROM for it.
I downloaded the GraveD ROM 3.0 zip file. But I don't know how to install it. I tried to install update from external device. I put the ZIP file on the sd card and selected the file, but that did nothing. I am very much a beginner at this.
Any advice?

Are you on a custom ROM? Do you have a custom recovery?
- If yes, just download CM12.1 for picassowifi from here: http://cyanogenmod.altervista.org/ and flash it (and gapps ARM-5.1) and enjoy!
If you are pure stock in all respects:

I am running a stock ROM. I assume that I have to root the device first. I downloaded USB_Drivers_1.6.27.0.exe. Win10 will not let me run it "This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine.". I did some searches and cannot get it to run.
I also tried skipping this step and tried running CF-Auto-Root-picassowifi-picassowifixx-smt520.tar.md5 from the sd card using external option and I get a signature error.
If I use Odin3-v3.10.6.exe, the program "sees" the usb in ID:COM. However after a long wait it reports Fail.
I also tried installing GraveD_V3.0 for the sd card and got the same signature error.
I am close to giving up!
Saw a link to fix the win10 error. Tried it?
https://www.technipages.com/windows-10-fix-this-publisher-has-been-blocked-from-running-software
Also see if you can install win7 in virtualbox and use that.
I remember having a hard time finding the right drivers myself for the download mode. But once i was able to get twrp installed on it, i am free

Before anything else, please download the three things you need to resurrect your tablet. With Cyanogenmod download servers gone, there's no telling when (and if) you might be able to find another mirror. I was lucky enough to find one myself by intense googling
CM12.1 final nightly (the BEST ROM) for SM-T520
https://archive.org/download/cmarchive_nighlies/cm-12.1-20161016-NIGHTLY-picassowifi.zip
OpenGapps.org -> ARM, 5.1, pico (or whichever variant you want)
TWRP custom recovery for SM-T520 - Download link and instructions available here:
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxytabpro101exynoswifi.html
You don't need root to put TWRP, do it through bootloader (you need Odin and drivers for it at the minimum). Follow instructions very precisely under the section "Odin Install Method (No Root Required)"
I really hope you can bring back the tab to life and get CM12.1 on it. I can feel your pain as I went through the same
---------- Post added at 07:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:46 AM ----------
Also found this (says works with Win10):
http://www.odindrivers.net/
Remove all previously installed Samsung drivers and/or Odin tool before installing from here.

LOL, one more thing. Be sure to copy the CM12.1 zip and opengapps zip to your internal storage (or SD card) first. So that by the time you are able to install TWRP successfully and can get inside it, you already have everything you need.
Once in TWRP, do an advanced wipe, wipe out cache/dalvik/system/data (NOT internal storage and SD card). Then "Install" and choose the CM12.1 zip FIRST, then "add more zips", choose opengapps zip second; then flash zips; reboot.
hello
i think if you have a problem with a recovery you must install an other recover
cfautoroot is ok for that
before copy a rom zip on an sd card
then install cfautoroot with odin the tablet will boots on cmw recovery
then install a new rom and a new recovery
in cfautoroot you have drivers and recovery
don't use drivers from kies or smart switch
regards

Use Odin with the appropriate files in the specified boxes (i.e. in the AP box select the AP, the BL box the BL... and then don't forget the .pit file which is a few tabs over). Also make sure you have developer options enabled and OEM UNLOCK on. And a huuuuuge thanks to the op!!!!

Had same problem... what I did was updated to G928PVPS3BQB1 from Sam mobile, then checked for updates and received OTA
Nougat 7.0 (G928PVPU3DQC5) working perfectly.
Not sure if I can root on this new firmware.

I tried multiple versions of odin to flash the G928PVPU3DQC5 zip, yet it would always hang on user data in odin at 90-95% complete. Not to say it doesn't work for anyone. What I did was I used the G928PVPS3BQB1 in odin and updated to U3DQC5 through the system update. Now I was able to install TWRP and root how I will explain, you have to have OEM unlock and USB debugging on in developer options. To unlock the developer settings you go to settings, about phone, build number and touch it several times. Make sure you have Magisk-v12.0 in your sd card. Now in odin flash the twrp-3.1.0-0-zenltespr.img.tar make sure auto reboot is unchecked in odin. To reboot simply hold the volume down button, home button, power button. When the screen goes black "quickly" hold the volume up button, home button, power button in twrp flash the Magisk-v12.0 zip and FYI the debloat.zip did work as well. Hope this helps!
umm... Does anyone else have 64gb device? I did a full wipe before flashing but now it says I only have 16gb and half of that is system. Wow this is bad. I was hoping to start frsh and get my space back but now I have way less than when I started

Try a factory reset in recovery, wipe cache, wipe system.
