Hello,
I have a problem with my Note 2 (N7100).
When I connect my Note 2 (N7100) to my Laptop, its not connected as a media device, it takes charge only. I can't see the internal storage or memory card as a external device, also not connected in download mode in odin.
Please anyone help me solve the issue.

Are you using a custom ROM....
Anyway after connecting your phone you should see a notification on the bar that says USB for charging, click on that and tap on the second option, USB for media transfer

but nothing shows as a notification in status bar or anywhere else.
And in both roms Stock or custom, problem is same, otherewise I am using custom rom (Eclipse by AC).

OK, go to developer options, there will be an option called, select USB configuration....
Connect your phone to your PC and click the option and select media device

Not Detecting a phone nor a beep.
Even Samsung USB driver is installed.

Try using another USB cable on another port on your computer....
Type the problem in the forum of your rom...
They can help you better.....

3 Different types of cables in 3 different ports including USB 3.0 port
and also tried in another laptop.
same cables and laptops works perfect for other android phones.
btw its not the rom issue
service menu configuration in phone
maybe its qualcomm usb configuration

I am having a problem when I connect my phone to PC. I get the attached screen after connecting the cable, and the phone memory drives never show up.
(dark blue screen that shows date and time "Alarm", "Music", "Gallery", and "Voice Search at the bottom)
It happens both in debugging and non-debugging modes. Also, the GPS icon on top of the taskbar starts blinking shortly after connecting. MTB connecting does not start.
I have no idea where this page comes from!!

What do you see if you pull down Notification Blind?
What is the symbol on the top left Notification ?
Does PC give any message regarding drivers when phone connected, with USB debugging selected on phone?
Are you using supplied micro USB cord?

The USB drivers are fine, It was working before on this PC.
I can not pull down the Notification bar like I do on normal screen.
The symbol on left was for SetCPU notification. I have flashed the stock ROM again and everything is clean, problem still exists.
PC gives no message, even the phone does not charge!
I am using the original USB cable.

Sounds HW related problem!!!
You try different USB ports, different cords, different PC or Laptop....just to eliminate everything but the phone!!!
Can ODIN see phone, in Download Mode?? Here also you need USB Debugging selected.
Something like this, left box should be Yellow:

The only thing that I need to try is a different cable.
It also looks HW issue to me.
I could connect it in Download mode to flash the stock ROM after several connecting and disconnecting the usb cable.
I may take it for warranty tomorrow. Is flashing the stock ROM is enough to have the phone looks like factory defaults. It looks unrooted and no recovery mode now.

it may just be the cable/usb cord!!!
I'd say if you are now on Stock FW, and have restored Stock Recovery, and un-rooted, you are OK for Warranty.......

I've a big issue, if I try to connect the phone, via usb, to the pc windows none of the devices recognize the connection.
Nothing appear on the Defy. On the Pc, sometimes appear the "new device windows" but if I try to install drivers it show me an alert saying that the device is not installed correctly.
I've tried all the motorola drivers available but nothing happen. I've also tried 2 other pc and 2 other usb cable
Fortunally, the device is rooted and I can install a nandroid backup but I don't know how I can resolve this issue, someone can help me?

Enable / disable USB debugging maybe? But normally there should be a prompt on the phone when you plug it in (pulling down the status bar usually asks you what to do, give memory card access, charge only...). Btw, does the Defy charge when plugged in or does the LED light up?

Tried but nothing change. The phone doesn't charge correctly and no prompt message if I connect it to the pc.
And it is definitely not the cable and / or the USB port? Then it has to be a hardware problem on the phone's side I think.

There's a way to reinstall all the Defy driver without the cable?
Try installing new moto drivers.

Charging didn't work if I connect the phone to the pc, it's strange because if I connect to the electrical power it works.
I also think that I've had an issue when I've installed the custom firmware
Since marshwallow update i can't connect with my lg g4 to windows pc. It's not the usb cable, or my pc, i've tryed with another phone and it works just fine. Any sugestion or should i return my phone to waranty?:crying:

Hello,
Since update on windows 10 and MM i've got some trouble too. You have to install lg usb driver from the lg phone and tell windows to stop auto install mtp drivers. Windows is always trying to install an old driver over the lg one and that's the problem.
You can also try to switch from regular usb to usb debigging in dev options several times.
nope, it still doesn't work. when i plug my old samsung galaxy s2 it just works like a charm. also i reinstaled usb driver with no fix. i'm not sure if it's hardware fault or software fault

Mine was the same. And when you swipe down notification for usb connexion cant you choose mtp ?
Try to uninstall the samsung USB driver or the drive which is affected yo your g4.

it doesn't appear option to select MTP . also i've tryied to connect a usb flash disk and it doesn't read it via OTG cable. I think it's a hardware fault

Looks like I have the same problem. Started off with Android Auto not detecting it, but it looks like the PC can't either, nor does it pick up an external USB DAC via the OTG cable :/
Did you have any success at all? Sounds like a hardware failure though :/

I have the drivers installed. No notification on phone. The OTG usb doesn't work too :crying:

I have to say that when my battery dies it doesn't charge, I have to use another battery
Is the device in a UBS 2 port, or 3 port? Sometimes USB 3 still doesn't work for 'regular' card readers.
Have you tried to remove the driver from the device Manager and then start all over? Or update the driver?

Hello,my tab sm t705 not detecting usb otg cable,and usb drive when connecting to pc,its only showing charging but no prompt for mtp like it usually did,how to solved?
this happen after my otg drive often auto connect/disconnect a few times, thinking the cable broken,already buy a new one but still not detect.

Check your win drivers in device manager. Ensure the Mtp driver is active.

Fair do's but does it detect the device in device manager as an MTP device when connected?

For MTP you just need a normal USB cable not OTG.

Ok understand wht u mean now,already done doing that.that wht i want to tell,showing nothing detect on my laptop eventough usb cable is already plug in.already check on device manager>root hub properties.and check what usb is connecting and only show the mouse usb.phone cable not detect on any usb root hub.

After a few days thinking of solution then i try to go download mode and plug the usb cable to pc and voila.usb updte installer pop up means its detecting now.and i cncel the updte and go to normal mode and its also detecting.mayb some software failure that its happen.btw i just uninstalled and installed new driver and let it updte after it detect the usb.problem solved.nearly changing new micro usb port?

Sorry bro.this post been too long.but from i remmember i donwload some app for pc.and enter my phone to download mode.maybe the app is official for samsung download mode.
What do you mean by download mode
