Hi, I bought my nexus 5x (32gb black) 4 days ago. Since the first time I got the impression that the touchscreen was not as good as the g4's one.
For example, on the nexus I do a lot of mistakes while typing with any keyboard app (stock and swiftkey): it seems that the touchscreen is not accurate.
Yesterday I played with "Yet Another Multitouch Tester" app and I found out that every time I had two touches very close the phone recognizes a non-existent touch positioned between the existing two.
I had a 1+1 some months back with the touchscreen grounding issue and I could say that it was worse than this nexus 5x's issue, but at the se time I think that in not a normal behavior.
This is a screen record of the problem:

I had got a detective unit?
What do you advise me to do?
I'm in time to ask the RMA.

Hi, I tested mine and I don't have this issue. So I guess you have a defective device. You should send it back. Good luck.

I tested again, and now I do have this issue! Perhaps it's just like that.

My retardedly expensive S7 has an issue (if you want to try and call it that) where when my fingers get about 2.5mm apart the touch combines into a single event. Is it an issue? No. Never in actual usage do I operate my phone like that. Same with my 5X. If my fingers are really close the screen acts retarded. Is there ever a situation where it would cause a problem? Not a chance. No one can type that fast. You have to want this to happen to get it to happen. My guess is you are simply struggling to type on a smaller screen.

In my case the issue appear when the two touches are at 100dpi of distance. It's something like 1cm that is a HUGE distance compared to 2.5mm

It can be replicated on my end but I really need to be pushing my thumbs together pretty hard to do that. That being said, it's not like I actually type like that and I never really have issues with typos with either SwiftKey or Google Keyboard.

Hi! I have my nexus 7 2013 wifi about one week ago, i have some small issues with the keyboard but i can get along with it.
What really worries me is that yesterday i noticed it makes a very small noise, just audible if i put my ear next to the device. It is like the sound of a pc proccesor, that increases when i touch the screen and almost dissapear when the screen is off. It doesnt change when its charging or on the table, and umtil now i didnt notice any battery leaks or jumps.
Any ideas of what this could mean? Electrical issues? Can you please verify if your device is making any kind of sound?
Thank you in advance!!
Greetings from chile!!!
do not worry
Do not worry, this is present in all nexus 7 devices. It is something to do with Asus using a crappy speaker part. If you want the full details, Google it or look on here you slowly get used to it. I got my N7 last weekend and I never really notice it anymore. So do not worry
I don't hear anything....
Any other opinion please?

I have also noticed the screen issue a tiny bit but it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.....I had a Nexus 4 in the past so I'm used to the crappy screen sensitivity lol but this device is still amazing and a way better device than my old N7 I guess with time updates will iron out all the kinks.
i do have a strange dotted line at the bottom of my screen, which seems to get larger slowly.
The dotted line is shown when the device is turned on/off.
It's not in the glass, but below the glass.
I wonder if anyone has seen this before.
i tried to make an image of it.
Ralph
I have it too, not sure what caused it though!
No issue here.
The touchscreen is lifting from the tft, to which it's glued, causing air bubbles in the glue, IMO.
Me too although it doesn't bother me since it doesn't do anything to the viewing experience.

All, thank you for your replies.
I contacted Samsung support, and they informed me that it was no known issue on their devices.
If i want to have it repaired; i could sent it to Dynafix who does the repairs in my area, and they will check if it's a fabrication fault or an user fault.
I have sent the picuture to dynafix to see if they could say me something about it, though i am not sure if they will do this.
I will keep you updated.
Ralph
Ouch, dynafix..... You usually get your device back in a condition worse than when it was when sent in.

Me too
I also have those at various points along the bottom. They don't bother me enough to risk sending the tablet in for service.

Maybe answer is that; however, the seller said that these dots are originated from the people that scratch or something when i see these dots on the Screen of tablets at showroom of Samsung. But i think there is a problem. After a while i think all note 2014 will be like that. I examined all of them in different stores. Guess what. All of them has that issue.

I think you should bring your tablets to be fixed.
Also , i have a question for everyone who has that issue, are your galaxy notes 10.1 black or white ? I saw this issue only on black ones' screens. Are you using your tablets in fully brightness? Because i realized that it begins warming rapidly and more at bottom of the screen which is so close to the dotted place.

Brightness setting is in the middle. Yes I use it alot everyday for work. The screen is mostly always on and I charge it mid day in the office and still use it while charging. Sometimes the screen gets warm when being used and charged at the same time. Been using this tablet since November

Tnx for your replies,
I bought it in january. no dots observed yet. I also have black model. I dont use in charge. I use it portable way when it is not charging. I am so angry with samsung because of that issue. They had made really big mistake and they dont accept their faulty. They even dont try to fix this issue for next generations.
At first I was bothered by it.. but now not so much. Good thing the dots are on the bottom of the screen and you wont notice it when using the tablet. Yes still samsung should fix this issue

Mine is black.
I have used it while it was charging but not very often.
I purchased it new about 7 weeks ago.
I had the exact same issue with my first note I bought in November. Ended up returning it to the retailer about 6 weeks into use and buying a new one I've had for about 6 weeks so far as well. No issue on the 2nd one as far as I can tell right now but this seems like another common problem.
If these bubbles/dots are caused by the reasons i mentioned earlier, they align with the colored rim of the touchscreen, because the color layer increases thickness of the glass by some nanometers. Going towards the center of the screen, the gap narrows because of adhesive force bending the glass. This should prevent the bubbles/dots from wandering inwards. Otherwise there's a huge issue with the device, though mine is (still) fine.
I noticed these dots on my white note after I got it back from battery repair. Not sure if it was there but I have 3 clusters of bubbles now

since yesterday i've this strange line as well. It came out of nowhere. After reading this tread @yararli could be right about something. Normally I use my screen about 25% brightness. Yesterday I watched a episode at almost 100% brightness. So there could be a causality between the brightness en warming-up which result in this strange line. My tablet is black bought it around december.
Is there any news about returns? Will there repair this problem or give a new tablet?
Has anyone else found the scroll/swipe speed to be slow on the Nexus 5X compared to other handsets? Annoyingly, I can't find any settings for this.
The issue is global and not limited to one app. With pointer trails on, there is visible lag between my finger's input and what happens on-screen. I've never seen this on any other device.
Thanks,
Ian
for me happen when is charging..

Yikes...the fact it changes with charging would make me nervous that it is a hardware defect, like bad grounding or something.
My phone is unusable whilst charging due to the touch screen lag!!!
---------- Post added at 09:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 PM ----------
This could be a real deal breaker for me as I use my phone frequently whilst plugged in and charging. I will give it approximately a week to find a solution otherwise back it goes under the distance selling regulations.: (
Been an LG problem since the G2. Buggy, stuttering laggy response from display while charging. Nexus 5 did it, G2, G3 etc. Some people report different chargers affect how bad it can be or possibly cure it. But that's a challenge when everything is proprietary to the 5x.
That's the worst news I've heard about this device so far. Lots of things can be dealt with. But when you HAVE to use it while charging this could be a deal breaker. Damn.
I've noticed this happens on a number of devices (including an iPhone 5s) and found it's due to a cheap wall charger that can't regulate voltage properly. Anybody happen to have aftermarket wall chargers or can plug it into a USB 3.0 port? Maybe somehow the stock chargers have a defect.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I have not had any issues. This thing is leaps and bounds smoother than my S6E.
I have tried charging with a USB A to USB C cable and this fixes the touch screen lag so it does appear to be an issue with the supplied charger or cable.
I'm experiencing the same issue when the phone is charging using the supplied charger.
Just tried a separate cable I bought and plugged it into a USB 3 port and it seems to be better.
Not the best start to owning a brand new phone....
am I correct in thinking that in order for an electrical device to be 'grounded', it must have an 'earth' pin in the plug?
generally, USB power adapters to not have an earth - US ones don't, and UK ones do not either (they have a plastic pin instead of an actual metal pin).
I could be barking up the wrong tree, of course but still... may be a factor?
Mine does this when charging. Seems to be worst in the bottom right of the screen. Annoying.
I took my 5X back to Carphone Warehouse due to this issue and another audio problem. The assistant whom helped me was great and the replacement 5X no longer has the issues I was suffering. I am typing this whilst charging right now something that was almost impossible on the previous device. I urge all others with this problem to exchange their device.
I find it only occurs when I'm fast charging, has the issue gone for you on both slow and fast charging?

After replacing my 5X I have no issues with the touchscreen whilst charging rapidly. I urge all others with this issue to seek a replacement.
That sounds positive james7dean. I'd be interested to hear if this issue doesn't appear to be present on later units (later than day 1 purchases anyway) for others too - it would be a pain to return the handset and start again, but worth doing if its going to work!
Thanks,
Ian
My 5x was manufactured Oct 2015 and I don't have this issue.
The devices manufactured in September 2015 seem to have more problems (yellow screen, poor performance, etc). I wander if there is a correlation here.

Just received the Pixel C and I immediately checked for the touchscreen issue some reviews were talking about.
There's definitely a touchscreen issue. In the video Pixel C is on the left and Galaxy Tab S2 on the right.
(this is not an issue of lag or something, Pixel C is much smoother than the Tab S2. It's the touchscreen.)
watch in 60fps https://youtu.be/Q9illQ7kp_w
I will test this when i get home but I have not noticed any real world use issues with the touchscreen. I used a Note 10.1 2014 edition daily for over 2 years and didn't notice any issue when I switched over to the Pixel C yesterday.
You should try to pinch to zoom on a picture or just in chrome. It's stuttery.
Could you also check if The left side (where the volume buttons are) gets warm... I'm just browsing and it's getting quiet warm.
No stutter here. Pinch to zoom works perfect.
Check your hardware revision, I'm curious to see what others have. Mine is 5
As far as the heat, it's to be expected with such a powerful processor/gpu along with the metal body.

Also 5. I've rebooted the tablet and it's gone for now. I'll let you when it comes back.
I honestly can't see any problems with the video. Is it that the circles don't follow your fingertips as closely?

I believe thats the issue they are trying to show. There is a lag in the touch input in his video compared to the S2
Looking at the video the problem you're probably talking about is a delay between the digitizer and the screen.
That can be fixed by over clocking the display. I also noticed today that when the device is cold 40°F I get that same "laggy" effect. Not worth worrying over though.
Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk
I'm finding the touchscreen really problematic. I find I have to make very firm and deliberate touches unlike my Tab S. Even though I can hear my finger tapping the screen, it doesn't register. I can't play "word find" type games because you have to trace the letters so slowly in order for them to register.

I'm the opposite of nyqi, my Spen was stuck when I first tried to remove it and to me my original Note's Spen was way more solid feeling.
I am waiting for my replacement, I will vote when I have it, hope soon
Well, I am one with a warmer phone, but I am not sure you want to see that in your poll?
My first unit has touch screen issue after 2 weeks. Replacement unit so far is good after 3 weeks.
You'll never know if you have a problem phone until it explodes. You're phone could be fine for years then explode. It doesn't matter whether it's working properly or not.
Perfect...No problem
Mine is perfect
Mine and my Wife are both the same as original. They run great.
Never had issues with mine. returning it simply for resale value... it will have none after the latest press gouging.. Since it's friday we haven't heard about the stock hit yet.. And if a device is powered off, barring physical damage..... that ruins the note 7; I am going to cut and run while I can come up on top for $350. I love the note 7, but I don't like rapid falling resale values (Even faster than usual)
the battery life is on my V2 is much worse than my initial one. Doesn't get hot though and no lag.
running fine. no issue.
Only issue i got with the old & new was Screen overlay pop up
Fixed it runs smooth now
battery is better than before & even better than the S7 Edge
Love it
