[mic_issue] [devs_help_asked-needed!!!] - Sony Xperia ZL

Hi, Many Users Like Me Are having Mic Issue, i'm using XZL, but the main idea can be adapted "IMHO" to any smartphone facing this annoying issue,
After testing my XZL: Here It Is:
+The Positive: 2nd mic the"Cancellation noise mic" is working Fine
-The Negative: Main Mic is not working at all.
The IDEA: a patch "Zip" to "flash" That make the 2nd Mic as Main Mic (With some gain "Boosted Level") and Cancelling The Main Mic,,,
Ok, This IS NOT The best solution, But For The Ones Who The Hardware Repair Did not Work, This Solution is to Try and can give some positive response.
Ohh!!! i use a "Jawbone"
To DEVS on XDA i've no "Coding, programming" Skills and you Help will let this possible So:
1st Thanks for Reading, Hope the Best.
2nd "You KNOW What To DO" Peace :good:

This.
I have already replaced my mic once, and the replaced mic has degraded in quality, which was not very good to begin with.
I don't know why this particular phone is affected with poor mic response.
Please developers, please a fix to route the input audio from primary(bottom) mic to secondary mic( top rear side) will be highly appreciated.
Just like OP said.
Other Xperia ZL users who are facing the issue, please show support here.
Help us.
I'm on stock lollipop rom, rooted.
Thank you

Hey ZYXPER.
It's funny, I actually encountered the same problem this week. I decided to post it to /xperia-Z instead to get a bit more coverage.
I couldn't figure out whether it was a hardware or software problem. In the xperia service test menu, the front mic would hardly pick up anything, sounded damaged.
Then I downloaded this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grace.microphone&hl=en
Set it to work even without 3mm connected. You can loop the microphone to the internal or external speaker. The weird thing is, In this test, I can 100% verify that front mic still works... I can hear myself very well, and by blowing on the mic I can verify it's the front one. Apperently, the mic is still useable if you increase input volume (gain). Unfortunately there's no app/setting I can find to boost it under regular calls.
I think Whatsapp call usage some sort of auto-input level, because it's much much better in whatsapp and I can make calls no problem.
So today I used a bicycle pump, and put in on the front covering the mic hole (yes really.) and pumped it full power like 10x. No mercy. It wasn't working anyway.
And what do you know, it's pretty much works again! Not sure if it's as good as it should be, but I can make regular calls again. I suggest you try this.

broken front speaker?

hej there,
i recently discovered that my front speaker (the one you use when calling in the "normal" way) seems to be broken. there is some distortion noise on higher frequencies (like the dial tone or higher voices) and higher volumes. when volume is reduced or people have lower voices this distortion is gone. it sounds like a speaker that is overdrivern (if that is the correct phrase) - i'm missing the words to describe it more in detail. anyway, the phone was working normal for 3 months and now this issue comes up.
anyone else out there with the same problem - could find information or similar cases up to now...
cheers!
That's the same problem i have. I think there is only one alternative. Back to HTC for a fix. Have tried the different ROM's but no luck. If there is a fix, hope to here from someone soon but i think it's back to HTC for me
i was hoping not having to do so... well... always look on the bright side of life...

Weird NOISE/crackling during call - DESIRE HD - HELPPP

Hello , i recently bought the Desire HD, and havent been experiencing any problems with it except of one quite annoying.
When im in a call, either outgoing or incoming, the speaker makes a weird crackling noise.
This happens always, and happens on both the phones speaker, and loud speaker (depending on which is selected during call), and headphones(when connected). Ive searched the forum, and some people have been experiencing a sort of problem, but not on the same device.
any help is very much appreciated thank you
I can verify that I'm experiencing the same with my Desire HD.
We discussed this issue already in the german "Android-Hilfe"-Forum. This buzzing, crackling noise seems to affect a small number of desire HD's. Mine was affected too. All the devices have been changed on warranty with no costs for the customer in germany. No matter from which provider they were bought.
Edit: BTW: Wrong Forum, I think. Could an Admin move this thread please?
Thanks for the quick replies guys, appreciate it
Hi All,
My Desire HD has started doing this today too! Really gutted. What has HTC UK support been like this on it? Replacement or repair, and how quick? I dont want to be without a phone long! Is this a widely recognised problem, apart from this thread I dont see much on it. Im wondering if the buzz comes from a loose LED flash cover vibrating caused by the speaker?
Thanks very much
I have the same and I thought it is the proximity sensor opening and closing.
Are you guys sending it back for replacement or are you going to live with it?
i have the same problem it sounds like the earpice is short circuiting for 1/10 second
i dont know is it a general problem or only limitted to our handsets
and if we update the radio version is it going to disappear or not
any help is appreciated

I sent 2 support cases to HTC at the same time. The one was for tjis issue and the other for something else. The other one was answered next day but for that one, not a word. Does this tell you something?
didnt understand you sir.

I say that: I contacted HTC support in regards to this but haven't received a reply. But, I have received replys for other cases. And this doesn't sound good.
i have the same issue
Issue with noise
I recently replaced my DHD due to a similar issue. I found if my hand palm was making contact at all with the SIM.SD Card cover, ie the antenna I would get an extremely high pitch feedback sound. Also if phone was on charge the crackle sound was audible.
Orange were great and replaced the original handset straight away at no cost but the replacement also appears to have the same issue. For the moment I'm considering contacting HTC direct but i'm not sure as otherwise I love the phone, and truly believe it is the best on the market.
I think the issue might be resolved if i get a outer protective cover so I'm going to try that first, and not use the device while on charge.
Would be good to know if others have had these experiences.

Whatever you decide, contact HTC so that they know and work on the problem. As I said, I contacted them but never received a reply which means that they are aware and have no solution.

That must be a different issue. I hear that noise via BT headset when I don't even touch the phone. I believe it's due to the sound frequency change during a call and the low quality speaker cannot handle. It's like using a high wattage amplifier on a low quality speaker and expect to hear deep bass sound. I guess you all know the result of such sound.
I'm also experiencing this problem. Sent the phone in and got it back but the problem is still there. They changed the motherboard and the loudspeaker but that obviously didn't fix the problem. So now I probably have to send it back again.
i just hope this problem can be fixed with software..
hi all,
in my case occasionally during call's even whit sound volume low a ear the person talking with " extremely high pitch feedback sound".
It's a very good phone but that problem is starting to annoying me.
i allready send a email to htc portugal and their response was to send the equipment to the repair center
in you opion what should i do? send to repair?
Thanks
Have you tried enabling the SRS improvement? It can be done in the music player. It made the crackling sound during calls in my device disappear...

I will try this and post back...
What I'm experiencing, when I'm on hold with my service provider (Vodafone AU) I can hear the normal on hold music then at random intervals just for a half a second or so the music cuts and there's an annoying crackle noise. Sometimes there is no noise for a while then there can all of a sudden there can that crackle noise every few seconds. Like another person has said for me if I change to loudspeaker it still does the crackle noises and turning the volume down doesn't help. I've tried taking my hand off the phone but it still happens. I have noticed a few times the reception bars icon, drop a bar or gain a bar when this noise happens so maybe there's a link?!? By the way I'm running LeeDroid 1.4.1 (wich is based on HTC's 1.72.405.3 ROM). Also I'm running the Jan 17th Radio version: 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M.
Right. This could well sound daft but try it anyway! Someone on another forum said it worked for him (her?) and it worked for me with a Nokia E71. The speaker was 'crackling' so I did the usual googling. The answer was, for me, to suck really hard on the speaker a couple of times. Basically the diaphragm gets put out of place and the 'sucking' gets it back.
Try it and see! Though it won't fix the 'feedback-type' noises I'd guess but I find most of those are specific to a particular call. Either call back, or get them to call you back, and all is well.

vzw galaxy nexus static during call

OK..so here it goes... When I try to make a call all I hear is ridiculous static... This is through the earpiecec, wired headse, BT headset and speakerphone.. This has happened on multiple roms, kernels & radios... What's really weird is that when I use Grove IP it works fine... Ive searched & searched & can't seem to find a solution... I just returned the phone to 100% 4.2 stock (jdq39) & the problem persists... This all leads me to believe its hardware related... I guess my next step is to take it apart... If anyone can point me in the right direction or tell me what I should be looking for when I take it apart it would be GREATLY appreciated!!
I just finished replacing the screen on my GNEX after a bad drop and water damage. Everything worked except for the earpiece and microphone having static during calls. Strangely though, unlike in your case, it's crystal clear on speaker phone and with a head set, in both directions (they can hear me and I can hear them). I have even replaced my earpiece, leading me to believe something on the motherboard is fried.
Thankfully, it's only a backup phone/media player at this point.

yeah...Im starting to think that maybe my problem is the antenna that recieves signal from verizon... since Voip calls work fine & when I make a call using verizons network I get static through earpiece, speaker & headsets as well... Im trying to do as much research as posible before I go craking the phone open and poking around inside... Im just using it as a media player now like you but I really wanna fix it! Its not a bad phone and dev support is still strong... Thanks for the reply by the way...

M8 top speaker not working

Just got my brand new m8 and after using it a bit I noticed the top boomsound speaker wasnt working. Tried some basic troubleshooting and using it in different apps in no avail. I can hear someone in a phone call no problem though, but if I use the speakerphone or use the phone to play music or something like that it doesn't seem to be working (or maybe be extremely quiet??).
I haven't tweaked the phone yet in any way, completely stock Android 6.0 that it shipped with.
Edit: The top speaker works but it is much, much more quiet than the bottom.
I'm really hoping this is a software issue, any way I can test that out?
Bump. Can someone running marshmallow please test this out real quick for me? Play this on max volume and see if left is considerably quieter than right - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTvJoYnpeRQ
Thanks guys! Gotta love that over a hundred people that saw this and couldn't take about 30 seconds out of their day to try this out for me
Anyways I'm probably sending the phone back. Gonna have to go back to struggling with my old HTC One S while I wait for a replacement.
Actually I'm having a very similar issue.
My phone had perfect speakers since I got it but recently it fell face down and the display went boom! No cracks anywhere though.
The service guys replaced the display but now the top speaker had a very loud crackling, at the max volume level only, when playing deep bass, still loud.
So I take it to service again and this time they made the top speaker very very quiet but the crackling was gone.
I asked them to fix it but they said it's always been like that.
After struggling for some 15 minutes they agreed to look into it. They tell me that they've replaced the top speaker module but the sound is still low.
I can even test the issue using the help app, hardware diagnostics.
Now I don't know how to get it fixed.

help dropped nexus 5x in the toilet ?

As the title states I dropped in the toilet only for a few seconds , it shut off by itself so I took apart ordered a new battery and let it sit in pieces for a few days.
To my surprise the phone works I'm actually typing on it now except that the microphone is not working at 100% the other person can hear me just at a very low level.
Does anyone know if I can replace just the microphone or the board it's on? I saw the speaker assembly replacement part but nothing stating if the mic is on that board also. Thanks in advance for your help
John
Try to clean microphone and this mic hole, maybe with alcohol?? You can try install Elemental Ex kernel, and bump up mic gain, quality wont be great but another person propably will understand you, it's better than nothing.
Thanks for info on the mic gain, it seems as if the microphone is in the assembly for the screen.
