Flashing problems... - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
I´ve tried to find a solution for this:
I wanted to update my sisters Z1c to 5.1.1 (Software update failed => at bootscreen) - so i tried Cyanogenmod 12.1 - no problem flashing this one - but not my rom.
Tried several rom´s - flashing with flashtool (software update failed) - flashing from recovery (software update failed) - flashing pac man rom - also functioning
But i do want a stock (i don´t need a 20 MP camera that delivers real bad photos)
So please.... has anybody got THE idea?

Thanks for the links...but...same proceedure as every other day. Install lockeddualrecovery - wipe - install rpf (for example) - "The software update failed"
By the way - after installing dualrecovery the boot starts only with sony on the screen....after flashing rpf...reboot...Sony + Xperia at the bottom.
Ideas?

Strange... Are you starting from KK? Bootloader locked or unlocked? Did you do a full wipe, (system, data, and caches)?

If BL is unlocked, just use fastboot to flash kernel and recovery IMG, then boot into recovery and flash ROM.

Pull the boot IMG from the ROM. For example, if you download RR ROM, it is a zip file, and in the zip is a file called boot.img. (or just try this one if you want - https://mega.nz/#!k0cTUQbS!5XUZhTEK4xBKVBSeO83TEHE3xs9JEpvxt3g1Sc8tVH8 ) Then, for recovery, use a recovery img, like this - http://goo.gl/qCiTOA (find the Z1c folder). Then use fastboot commands: fastboot flash boot boot.img, (for kernel), and fastboot flash recovery (name of file).img, (for recovery). You'll want to have whatever ROM and gapps, etc, files you're going to flash already on your sdcard, so you can flash them when you get to recovery.

Seems like it´s not supposed to be....flashing kernel...flashing recovery....no way...same sh...
I´ll take the old Z1c...take the motherboard...put it in the new one...voila...

So...now i´ve flashed pac man rom - can anybody tell me why - why can i flash cyanogen mods without any problem - but with all other roms "the software update failed" ???

[Q] Help with ISC for my Arc

Hi Guys,
Sorry to be such a noob, but i really need some help...
I have tried flashing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717
using the Xperia version of CWM recovery, follwing the instructions on screen t the letter, i still cannot get this to work. Can someone please shed some light on my problem???
I have no issues with re-flashing 2.3.4 again, phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader, flashed on 4.0.2.A..0.42/.62 and still only end up with a non working ICS, please help
If you're trying to flash this rom from gingerbread you'll end up with troubles. Flash first a stock ics with flashtools /pc companyon /seus and then you can flash this one.

Started from gingerbread too.
Hy, i have also upgraded from Gingerbread and i have had some issues with some Roms. But now it`s done and working like a charm. Here are the stept i folowed :
1. Unlock bootloader.
2. Check baseband (mine was 64, so no more stept necesary for performing step 3)
3. Flash kernel via fastboot (cmd command on android sdk/platform tools, with v4 usb drivers), Doom Kernel (1.6GHz) ARC-DooMKernel-ICS-BETA-v04-lower-boot.img
4. Flashed multiple Roms, but the best, for me is JJHybrid Rom v2.2
5. Flashed ARC-DooMKernel-ICS-v04-modules_CWM.zip (WIFI module)
6. Flashed GAPS
When flashing Rom i have notice that not everibody tells all the procedure :
- Boot in flash mode (Press Back key when blue led light on)
- Perform a wipe
- Perform a reset
- advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
- mount and root/ format /system
- install from zip, first rom, then modules.
Hope that you can find sommething you missed (probably the format /system) and my answer helped you !

Stuck at CM9.1 animation after flashing Xperia S

Hi !
I have a locked A.55 Xperia S from Dubai and were trying to install CM9.1 (stable) but now, its stuck at the Cyanogenmod animation. I waited for like 10 minutes but it just won't go from there. Re-flashing the kernal and wiping and then re-installing CM9.1 didn't work.
What I did:
1. Installed the drivers from Google dev website with fastmode driver from Sony dev site.
Selected the ADB mode driver (not the bootloader driver) for the S1boot device in Device Manager.
2. Rooted using Easy Root 1.2 (chinese version)
(success, I could see superuser process in the apps)
3. Unlocked bootloader using the fastmode as mentioned in Sony's website.
4. Downloaded the CM9.1 nozomi from CM website and Gapps from another website and copied to the root of the internal memory (Xperia doesn't have memory card ?)
5. Installed CWM recovery (6.0.3 ?) using Recover X
6. Flashed CM kernal from the CM9.1 nozomi zip (boot.img) using flashtool 0.9.11
7. Backed up the existing data using CWM.
8. Flashed CM9.1 nozomi using CWM and then Gapps. Factory reset and Cache clear.
9. Stuck at FreeXperia logo
10. Gone to CWM and restored the backup but it gave an error with "can't format with mkextf4 /dev/block/mmcblk3322 (or something like that)
11. Stuck at XPERIA logo (animation)
12. Installed the CM9.1 and Gapps and then factory reset, cache reset and Dalvik cache clear (when I press on "clear Dalvik Cache", I don't see any message in the log btw)
13. Stuck at CM9.1 Robot animation (the matrix ?)
Please help guys...its my only phone and I'm a busy guy regarding phone calls and emails
Thanks for reading
Does flashing a different kernal a good idea ?
Where did you download your cm? FXP or CM official website? You can fix it by flashing stock firmware using flashtool.

Yeah, CM official website !
So, should I just download the stock firmware.zip and flash it with recovery or I have to download the .ftf file ?
I flashed the Pure ICS kernal but its stuck at the "Pure ICS kernal" logo.
What should I do now ?
Download the stock firmware ftf and flash it ?
From where I can get the kernal for the stock firmware?
Thanks bro for the reply !

I have checked the md5 sum...which matches with that in the CM website.
Is there any other ROM with good battery backup ?
Man ! I hate this
I have installed the drivers from the driver folder in the flashtool but when I connect my mobile in flashmode (green led), the add hardware wizard pops up and within 2 seconds, the phone boots up freezing the system.
The flashtool displays an error saying "install drivers".
I have installed all drivers using flashtool's driver installer but why does it still say its not installed ?
Are you using windows 8?

Yup !
BTW, I tried another system with more updated Windows where I could install the driver using hardware wizard successfully but the flashtool gives an another error now and the phone boots up.
Didn't note the error down...gonna do it again to see what it says !
EDIT:
Can I use fastboot mode instead of flash mode in the flashtool ?
Now, it doesn't even recognize the phone....I mean, even if I connect it in flash mode (green led), the flashtool doesn't start the flashing
EDIT:
Is there any way I could access its memory ?
I'm thinking about downloading a stock ROM and kernal and flash it using CWM.
A miracle has happened!!
I could flash the firmware successfully., thanks JZ
Now I'm wondering whether I should go ahead and flash the cm9.1 again!!

[Q] Can't put CWM onto my Xperia Arc after using EMMA

Hi,
I have tried everything I've read so far and I still can't get the phone to boot into recovery.
I flashed the latest Stock ROM using Sony Ericsson 'Emma' flashtool.
Then I rooted using eroot and I have confirmed the root with the app Root Checker.
I installed ROM Manager but it says my device isn't recognised.
Also installed X-Parts and even though that said ClockWorkMod install was successful it still won't boot into recovery.
I have tried holding down various combination of keys whilst powering up but I don't even see a blue light appearing.
Is there any way to get CWM onto my Xperia Arc (LT15i) please?
Thanks for any advice

The kernel will depend on your ROM, so if you're using stock ROM you can flash a stock kernel with CWM on it. LuPuS stock kernel and Advanced stock kernel are two examples of stock kernel that have CWM.
Most custom ROM kernel should have CWM installed. Custom ROM will also come with its kernel so flash that and you should have CWM on your phone.

Hi popthosegaskets, thanks very much for helping me. I was wondering if you could tell me where I'm going wrong trying to install a CM Rom please. I've tried both CM 9 and CM 10 but the former caused the boot screen to flicker and flash and when I tried to install CM 10 I just got an error in CMW saying error in sdcard/cm10.zip (status 7).
The problem stems from me experimenting and putting on the Jellybeanv4 Rom. I found that the Settings button didn't function and overal performance was slow so that is why I'm trying to flash back to a Stable CM Rom.
These are the instructions I followed using flashtool.
1. Download rom, patch and gapps from Downloads and put in SD card
2. Flash Xperia Arc S 4.1.B.1.13 Vodafone DE firmware via flashtool (For increasing system and data memory for Arc user and latest BB) Must
3. Flash included FXP kernel or any CM10 based kernel using fastboot
4. Boot into CWM
5. Wipe factory reset (Data & Cache)
6. Go mounts and storage
7. Format /system
8. Flash rom then patch and at last gapps
9. Reboot
10. After booting 1 time you can flash addons if you want
Is it a problem with a conflict with the Vodafone DE Firmware and CM Rom?
Thanks again for your help and advice

SM-T700 Bootloop after flash of customrom, again and again

Hallo everybody, greetings from germany.
I would need some support from you guys on a bootloop case for the sm-t700. I searched my ass off in google and xda but could not find a solution.
So now after hours of trying it myself I like to ask for help.
In the following I will describe what I have done to come to this point including everything I installed etc.
The stock rom was lollipop 5.0.2 and already installed.
- usb debug mode on
- flashed via odin v.3.10.7 supersu "cf-autoroot-twrp-t700.tar"
- forgot to install busybox and rootchecker for verifying root.
- backup of IMEI/EMFS (data is now on pc)
- in recovery backup of Boot.img
- wipe data/cache/dalwik/system in one go
- flashed "Euphoria-OS-1.1-klimtwifi-UNOFFICIAL-20150812.zip"
"open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-20151013.zip"
"SkyHigh_SM-T700_kernel_TW-LL_v2.0.zip"
- rebooted and waited up to 15 - 20 min. Stopped waiting after that.
the regular samsung logo while booting shows up in intervalls from 5 to 10 minutes.
Next I wanted to do it better by installing busybox and cheking for root, because
I thought first that this could be the main cause for the bootloop.
- downloadmode
- flashed succesfully "T700XXU1BOE5_T700DBT1BOD1_HOME.tar.md5" via odin v.3.10.7 to get to stockrom again
- usb debug mode on
- downloadmode
- flashed via odin v.3.10.7 supersu "cf-autoroot-twrp-t700.tar"
- verifyied it with rootvalidator
- installed busybox
- deleted all knox stuff
- installed twrp app to get to v.2.8.7.0
- recoverymode
- backup of everything
- wipe data/cache/dalwik/system
- flashed "Euphoria-OS-1.1-klimtwifi-UNOFFICIAL-20150812.zip"
"open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-20151013.zip"
"SkyHigh_SM-T700_kernel_TW-LL_v2.0.zip"
- rebooted and waited up to 15 - 20 min. Stopped waiting after that.
the regular samsung logo while booting shows up in intervalls again from 5 to 10 minutes.
Next I went into recovery and restored everything as before the flash of the customrom.
This happens in the same way with blisspop and liquidsmooth roms.
Hope anyone knows something.
Youve flashed an aosp rom , but attempting to boot with a stock based kernel.
Its never advisable to multi flash. Flash after each successful boot.
You need to flash the kernel provided in that thread or flash the whole rom again.
Also make sure your bootloader is up to date.
Tbh I'd wipe and start again.

By "multi flash" do you mean the install procedure in twrp that automates the installation procedure? (add zip)
And how am I able to flash after each successful boot if there is nothing to boot left after wipe?

I thought this Kernel would be great. So you do not recommend me to use it?
I will look up the roms now and the kernel they use.

How do I do this or if already up to date where do I can look it up?
According to your post you flashed rom, gapps and kernel in one go.
Any one of those could have caused a bootloop or hang.
As for SkyHigh kernel, it is a great kernel but probably not suitable for an aosp rom as it's built from stock sources intended for stock roms.
Use the kernel provided.
To update the bootloader flash the latest firmware or pull it out and flash it separately.
Okay I will do the following now.
First find the appropiate Kernel if Skyhigh is a nogo. sadly.
Then flash in recovery at first the kernel of the rom. boot. recovery, flash the customrom + gapps. Right?
And before all that flash a new bootloader.
Further, is there a Kernel beside the one of the roms that you would recommend me?
Just wipe data and cache in recovery then flash just the rom. It probably already has the kernel.
Don't flash gapps just reboot after flashing the rom.

Okay worked well.
Left out the kernel because I could not find any custom ones.
Now I have euphoria on it and want to change between blisspop and liquidsmooth until I have the one I like most.
It is kinda hard to get the difference. I just know that euphoria and liquid are faster, smoother?
Thanks a lot without your input I would still be searching for an answer.
Happy day to you.
skyhigh and iron kernel are mean for touchwiz. Its not mean for cyanogen/aosp/aokp.
currently there is no one cook a custom kernel for cyanogen/aosp/aokp rom. so we stuck with the kernel that come with the rom.
Kernels :

Okay, did not know about this kernel.could you give me some info about the "deathly signed"?
My browser here is not loading the xda thread where I found people talking about it.

Not able to install LP ROM after Nougat

Hello,
I installed [M-ROM][7.1]XUN_Z1C|v2.5.0[Not Chinese Version] and run it for a few days.
But now I would like to downgrade to [LP]DstrikerZ1 Kai ROM SP008, ROM was flashed successfully but boot is interupted after Sony logo, I had a try with MX-ROM (also LP) but I had the same kind of behavior.
I guess I missed something, do you have an idea ?

Need to wipe apps_log.
Best easy way to do it is with Flashtool. Download ftf, click flash (), check box for apps_log in 'Wipe' section, and check every box in 'Exclude' section. Click 'Flash' and reboot.
That's the only way I know of, except to flash full stock rom with Emma, unless you already have apps_log backed up from before, in which case you can flash through adb, or TWRP 3.2,(if there is one built for Z1c - I have done it on Z3c).

So settings in Flashtool should be set like shown in attached screenshot?
Should it be done before or after flashing a stock rom?
(Stock rom normally will be flashed bei TWRP recovery 3.2.1...)
Thx + regards.

Looks good, although I usually don't bother with checking anything in ta section... Just do it right before booting phone.
