Hi Guys,
Sorry to be such a noob, but i really need some help...
I have tried flashing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717
using the Xperia version of CWM recovery, follwing the instructions on screen t the letter, i still cannot get this to work. Can someone please shed some light on my problem???
I have no issues with re-flashing 2.3.4 again, phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader, flashed on 4.0.2.A..0.42/.62 and still only end up with a non working ICS, please help
If you're trying to flash this rom from gingerbread you'll end up with troubles. Flash first a stock ics with flashtools /pc companyon /seus and then you can flash this one.

Thanks for this, but stock ics is not yet available in nz, any links you could share for download will be greatly appreciated
Started from gingerbread too.
Hy, i have also upgraded from Gingerbread and i have had some issues with some Roms. But now it`s done and working like a charm. Here are the stept i folowed :
1. Unlock bootloader.
2. Check baseband (mine was 64, so no more stept necesary for performing step 3)
3. Flash kernel via fastboot (cmd command on android sdk/platform tools, with v4 usb drivers), Doom Kernel (1.6GHz) ARC-DooMKernel-ICS-BETA-v04-lower-boot.img
4. Flashed multiple Roms, but the best, for me is JJHybrid Rom v2.2
5. Flashed ARC-DooMKernel-ICS-v04-modules_CWM.zip (WIFI module)
6. Flashed GAPS
When flashing Rom i have notice that not everibody tells all the procedure :
- Boot in flash mode (Press Back key when blue led light on)
- Perform a wipe
- Perform a reset
- advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
- mount and root/ format /system
- install from zip, first rom, then modules.
Hope that you can find sommething you missed (probably the format /system) and my answer helped you !

Pull the boot.Img from the pac zip and fastboot it. Then install the zip via twrp recovery. Make sure you wipe cache, dvalik, android secure, and data (everything but internal storage)
Then flash.
Then boot up.
Then reboot back to recovery and flash gapps
Then boot up again

Hi all, I also want to try the PAC 4.2.2 Rom, so like a good little noob I've been searching everywhere to find out if I need to open the zip in my pc & fastboot the .img first as I have a different/wrong kernel, I've got cm10 fxp 212 on my xperia s.
So far this is the only place I've seen it mentioned.
Could anybody confirm it please?
& the run command if you know it.
Thanks.

1. Open zip file and copy boot.img to fastboot folder
2. Right click and select " Open cmd here" (Win7)
3. Type these commands
- fastboot flash boot boot.img (Wait when its done after few sec)
- fastboot reboot ( or unplug the cable and turn on your phone)
4. Now, boot into CWM to flash Rom
Take notice that you have to install fastboot driver first. Good luck :fingers-crossed:

if you have a CWM Recovery in your kernel(like FXP's CM9 or CM10 kernel)
just copy the zip(you download from the PAC thread) to the internal storage
then boot into CWM, wipe, flash the zip, enjoy
recovery will flash boot.img automatically
if no work, try flash the boot.img manually, like the way on 6# reply
Lilude & Speca, thank you both for a quick reply, btw, your English is perfect.
Wow! So a different kernel can be flashed with the rest of the packet from recovery/cwm without needing a pc, (except for copying to sd card) .
A new bit of knowledge for me!
I'd click your thanks buttons if I knew how, but as you can see I'm new to the forum & still finding my way about.
Noobs of the world unite.
Both ways are fine but better flash separately in such situation. It definitely helps you avoid a broken CWM happening after that such as : can't backup the current Rom, can't mount system as well as can't flash anything, etc.. aside from having to reflash Stock Rom,otherwise the phone gonna get stuck on boot . How terrible !
Make your choice and do not mess up your phone, huh ?
Sent from my Xperia S using Tapatalk 2
If you say flashing the boot.img from my pc first is the safest option then I'll use that method.
I've already messed up several times when I was in stock, without a recovery, luckily EMMA came to the rescue.
Since custom rom cm10 I can't flash updates or anything else without a factory reset, partition & dalvic wipe is never enough.
So taking my time for this rom, download tonight, fingers crossed

OK!
flashed boot.img
wiped everything
fixed permissions
mounted system
flashed PAC
rebooted
went back to recovery
flashed gapps
rebooted.
Works perfectly so far!
also I reinstalled my own apps manually instead of using titanium back up. I read this hint in the PAC v22 thread / dev section.
maybe this is 1 of the reasons I'm not having the odd problem that a few others are experiencing. who knows?
thanx all for helping

U will need to flash the vendor ftf. To unlock the partitions. I can't link u to it rite now but a Google search and you will find it on xda.
U are using the wrong kernel also a CM9 kernel will only work on cm9 based ROMs not on GB for that u can use this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849536 . Then wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache then flash the ROM.zip.

No need to root it. U can still flash kernel. Most ROMs are pre rooted such as the one you want to flash (Gin2Jellybean).
Flash .79 firmware. Unplug your phone. Hold search button and connect your phone to PC. Press lighting icon and choose fastboot. Choose "select kernel to flash" and choose your kernel. Wait few second and when flashtool report the flashing is done, unplug your phone from PC. With phone in your hands, press power button. Start pressing volume down button repeatedly untill you enter recovery. Wipe system and data, and install (already rooted) Gin2jellybean rom.

Ok Thank you so much all! Its working smoothly now ( restarting second time )
hi
this is the first time i am trying to install a custom rom. after reading a lot i never tried to actualy modify my arc s, but today was the day!
i tried with this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207
now i have some specific questions to find out why i am getting a bootloop (screen gets black and shows "SONY" over and over again).
right now i am on stock rom and kernel again: model: LT18i / android 4.0.4 / kernel 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1 / build 4.1.B.0.587
i followed the how-to in the thread in every step besides one: "For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app" i did not use the linked tutorial because at first i just wanted root and found this "one click" method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711
this method worked for me and i already was able to use superuser. having a working superuser app i decided to go on with the tutorial and used x-parts to install CWM.
after that i did everything like in the how-to, going through the aroma installer, successfully installed the rom, reboot through the recovery menu -> bootloop.
after many hours and tries i decided to open a thread and hope that someone can help me to solve my problem.
thanks!
EDIT: about the bootloader. on my device it says "bootloader unlock allowed: yes" and the number that is mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375463 for me is 12W20
can i unlock the bootloader or not? i am realy confused with everything right now...

Yes, you can still unlock the bootloader, by using the official method at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
thanks for your reply. in the roms thread it says that it can be installed with locked bootloader.
i have root and superuser works. next i used this: (imagine a link to google play x-parts :laugh to install cwm and then i continued with the how-to as it says:
...
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
any idea why i get a bootloop after installing the rom? oh...and i still don't get it how to start my phone directly in cwm recovery. i tried to push or hold different buttons. right now i saw the recovery menu only because i chose to reboot to recovery in the x-parts app. sorry, if similar questions have been already asked, but i don't get it
EDIT: is the kernel and/or stock rom a problem maybe? can i install the custom rom starting from: model: LT18i / android 4.0.4 / kernel 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1 / build 4.1.B.0.587?
Did you flash this? I never tried install any kernel or ROM on locked bootloader, so my phone is unlocked. I read this tutorial and i succesfully installed this ROM on my ARC without bootloop. BTW i using LuPuS v16 kernel, not vengeance...

You can use the Flashtool Version 0.9.11.0 [Thanks to Androxyde :good:]
There are things in this application. Include: Root device, Bootloader Unlock, Flash kernel and Flash ROM.
By fastboot mode in Flashtool you can install any kernel and after turn on your device using CWM and install any ROM.
In here you can find many ROMs and Kernels [Thanks to Xerxin :good:]
Hi,
I have tried everything I've read so far and I still can't get the phone to boot into recovery.
I flashed the latest Stock ROM using Sony Ericsson 'Emma' flashtool.
Then I rooted using eroot and I have confirmed the root with the app Root Checker.
I installed ROM Manager but it says my device isn't recognised.
Also installed X-Parts and even though that said ClockWorkMod install was successful it still won't boot into recovery.
I have tried holding down various combination of keys whilst powering up but I don't even see a blue light appearing.
Is there any way to get CWM onto my Xperia Arc (LT15i) please?
Thanks for any advice

The kernel will depend on your ROM, so if you're using stock ROM you can flash a stock kernel with CWM on it. LuPuS stock kernel and Advanced stock kernel are two examples of stock kernel that have CWM.
Most custom ROM kernel should have CWM installed. Custom ROM will also come with its kernel so flash that and you should have CWM on your phone.

Hi popthosegaskets, thanks very much for helping me. I was wondering if you could tell me where I'm going wrong trying to install a CM Rom please. I've tried both CM 9 and CM 10 but the former caused the boot screen to flicker and flash and when I tried to install CM 10 I just got an error in CMW saying error in sdcard/cm10.zip (status 7).
The problem stems from me experimenting and putting on the Jellybeanv4 Rom. I found that the Settings button didn't function and overal performance was slow so that is why I'm trying to flash back to a Stable CM Rom.
These are the instructions I followed using flashtool.
1. Download rom, patch and gapps from Downloads and put in SD card
2. Flash Xperia Arc S 4.1.B.1.13 Vodafone DE firmware via flashtool (For increasing system and data memory for Arc user and latest BB) Must
3. Flash included FXP kernel or any CM10 based kernel using fastboot
4. Boot into CWM
5. Wipe factory reset (Data & Cache)
6. Go mounts and storage
7. Format /system
8. Flash rom then patch and at last gapps
9. Reboot
10. After booting 1 time you can flash addons if you want
Is it a problem with a conflict with the Vodafone DE Firmware and CM Rom?
Thanks again for your help and advice
I have same problem...
Same rom and same instalation guide...
Any solution to get in CWM?

Sorry for very late reply, but it should not be a problem with DE firmware. Download the file again and try to install it following the steps.

I've found solutions for LT18i
downloaded kernel
http://goo.im/devs/nAa/kernels/3.4.x/jb/anzu/3.4.45-nAa-03_LT18.img
So im not quite fammiliar with xperia devices but im trying to install the latest sjb rom, i dont get the part to flash the kernal before flashing the cwm recovery and the rom. I download fusion kernel v5.5 but i get a .img file, the flashtool wants a.sin file(when i tryto use "select kernal to flash"). I tried to do a full wipe, then flashing sbj trough cwm recovery but it just goes into a bootloop. Flashed 0.537 firmare to get it to normal status again. bootloader is unlocked, atleast it said "bootloader unlocked allowed=yes" in phone info.
1. Did you set Flashtool to fastboot mode?
2. Is the kernel compatible with the ROM?

its this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134257&highlight=recovery
i dont understand step number 2
0.Only for unlocked bootlader
1. Copy super jelly bean and gapps to sd card
2. Flash any jb kernel for neov via fastboot.. i recommend fusion kernel 5.4 (present inside the zip file )
3.[OPTIONAL] flash stock ics .587 ftf excluding kernel and simlock.ta files..
4. boot into recovery
5.Perform Full Wipes
ie :
wipe data / factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
in mounts and storage , wipe system , data and cache
6.Flash Super Jelly Bean Rom
8.Flash the patch for your respective devices.
7.Flash gapps , Provided in download page
8.Boot
9.Let the rom settle for 15 to 20 minutes
10.Reboot at least once in 2 days
11.Enjoy

Well you need to unlock boatloader... Simply having unlock allowed yes won't do... Once you unlock you can flash the required kernel in fastboot...

Flash jb kernel for your device only... You need unlocked boatloader to flash custom kernel... Custom kernels are needed to boot non stock roms... With cwm you can flash rom but that doesn't mean it will boot without the corresponding kernel...

Open the window, where you are supposed to choose the kernel file from. At the bottom of that window, look for a small drop-down clickable menu (by default there is *.sin written). Open the menu, choose *.img from the list and then you can flash the kernel.
EDIT: Unlock your bootloader first as well. It must show "bootloader unlocked: yes" in the menu.

i just install SJB8.0 on yesterday and found after i reboot device all shortcut in desktop that i move data to SD card disappear
but for shortcut that the data keep in phone no have any problem.
anyone can help me for this problem.
sorry for poor english
If I understand properly, you cant access files/apps that you previously backed up to sd card?
Anyway guys, Im having a really weird problem with SJB 8.0, I downloaded rom, gaps, patch and kernel, then copied everything except kernel to sd card, flashed kernel (and it worked), then I did full wipe but when I tried to flash rom, I got an "installation aborted error (bad)".
The interesting thing is that when I try to extract the rom (AND gapps) on computer, I also get an error for both of the files (the file is damaged/corrupted etc.).
So is there a problem with files (rom and gapps) on dev-host or what? It's wierd cuz patch for arc can be either flashed or extracted on computer.
Please help. :/
EDITED:
Okay problem solved, the gapps and rom files were corrupted so I had to download them couple of times to get it working (tried to extract it first on comp. to check) and then it worked while flashing too, so everything's good now.
