I just acquired a T700 with the stock KitKat 4.4 OS. I want to upgrade it to Lollipop. I have already done this with my Samsung Note 10.1 and with another T700. But this unit always hangs and never completes the download. Com port turns blue when unit is connected. Here is the log from Odin3 v3.09:

Do you actually even realize what you are installing?
The file you are attempting to flash is cf-autoroot which will root your device.
Is that what you want?

You don't need root to update the firmware.
Go to Sammobile.com and download the stock firmware.
Follow the instructions on the site to install it.

I've been looking for a thread to help me out with my phone but I couldn't find anything to help me. If you know any thread with a fix for this please redirect me there.
But anyways I was updating the firmware on my Sprint Epic touch 4G to jellybean on the Samsung website and right when it almost finished it failed at modem bin, and it bricked. It says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again. ( I don't have kies installed in my computer).
I've been try to restore like it was before but nothing that I found would work.
I'm running ICS 4.0.4 FL24
I can run Odin Mode and the phone was not rooted before this.
I've tried to restore using Odin3 but it always fails after modem.bin
When I'm in Odin mode it says

I would assume its because you're attempting to downgrade. Try this in Odin instead
http://rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/S...0VPUCMK3_L710SPRCMK3_L710VPUCMK3_HOME.tar.exe
At this point, DO NOT reboot the phone. If you had read the Knox faq, you would know that attempting to flash a < MK3 stock tar will while on the Knox bootloader will immediately brick your phone because the older firmware will not get written. Right now, you need to immediately flash an MK3 full stock tar if you don't want a fancy paperweight.

Thank you for the tar file. I'm also curious on the the topic...are there more than one Odin? I have Odin3, (some sites refer to it as Odin3, ODIN, or just Odin) versions 1.87 (the one you told me to try), 3.07, and 3.09. I wasn't under the impression that certain versions of Odin worked better for some than others. Do they? And, is Odin and Odin3 different? I appreciate your help on this subject.
Uninstalled the USB drivers then reinstalled them with SGS3 tool kit, swapped to original cable from Samsung galaxy s4,, as well as USB port... It has a status bar on Odin first time .... Hold tight.
IT PASSED!
To be clear for people that have this same problem in the future...
Uninstall Kies, if you have it
Run a registry cleaner, I used CCleaner
Install Samsung Galaxy USB Drivers through SGS3 Toolkit
Use Odin 1.87 in Admin
Use MK3 tar in PDA section, leave auto reboot and reset time
Use original or I'm assuming Samsung USB cable
If one port doesnt work, try another USB port
Thank you everyone for your input and help, folks like you make this site worth using. :good:

When the process starts, it goes ok until "writing NAND" and then says that writing NAND fails. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,

From all I have read you can't Odin back to a previous version once on 5.1.1.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62274187
Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
correct, you cannot go back after you're on 5.1.1, that's why it's not working, you need to Odin a 5.1.1 tar
sent from my S6 using tapatalk
I am having the same error messages in ODIN as the OP. EverYthing I flash through ODIN fails. Even flashing stock 5.1.1 OF7 fails. I believe it's because I was on OGA so I have to wait until the tarball for that comes out I guess.
was a solution to this ever found?

Yes. Use the latest version of Odin (3.10.7 or 3.10.6, both can be found here: http://www.samsungodindownload.com/) and use the latest stock TAR from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63956192&postcount=226
Check the md5 on your TAR download to make sure that it matches. In my experience getting a bad or incomplete download is the number one cause of errors.
And be aware that you CANNOT DOWNGRADE. If you flash to the latest stock and firmware, you can't go back.

Samsung driver installed? Do you have any open KIES or Samsung Smart Switch apps open? They should be closed first.
If you're using Windows 10, run as administrator is NOT required. But all other Windows versions SHOULD be ran as administrator with a right click on the Odin .exe file for app launch.
You seem to get to write and fail in Odin. Could be bad USB cable or missing the data lines in it. Original Samsung cable or a Motorola USB cable should work. Try another PC USB port as well. Rear port is often recommended but should be USB 2.0 compatible.
When and if it fails again, check your phone's display for additional information. It's a common failure in our forum for users to flash with reactivation lock enabled. But you could verify in Settings/Security that reactivation lock is disabled.
I prefer a md5 to verify my download but on the case of Chainfire downloads, download twice and check the md5 of both for matching md5. You could have a bad download.
Just typical things to check.
