Has anyone been able to get the HTC Sync Manager software to recognize and work with the HTC 10?
I can not, and I have the most current version of the software installed.

Are you using the version actually on the 10 itself?
edit: scratch that, not actually sure that is the application itself.

It's not. You're referring to the HTC Transfer Tool. That won't work between my 10 and the old HTC One either.

I was talking about the option that appears when you select to change from charging only on the main menu, but the ISO associated isn't big enough (20meg) to be the full application.
Just got off the phone with HTC Support Escalations. It is now a known problem; and they are getting lots of reports that the HTC Sync Manager will not recognize the unlocked HTC 10. They can replicate the problem and it has been escalated up the line to come up with a solution. She promised to call back when they have something to report.
It's working for my vzw model. What I did was choose for usb connection file transfer, and it connects.

Tell them that it works just fine on Windows 10 (Pro x64 if that matters).
Doesn't work on my Windows 7 (Ultimate x64 if it matters).
Firing up a Win 8.1 Pro VM as we speak just for the giggles. Doesn't take all that long to install..
Just a few clicks in Workstation and it does it all for me automagically, how lovely.
Aaand time, 8 minutes to install Windows.
Result, works just fine in Windows 8.1 (Pro x4 if it matters).
And for the literal giggles, here's a Windows 7 Pro x64 inside a VM.
Works just fine. What in the actual f*ck.
And in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 install, not a VM, it does not connect. Seriously, what?
Aaalrighty, looks like the CDC Serial driver didn't install properly for me. Might be a problem for some of you.
Start Menu > type Device Manager or find it through Control Panel > see if you have a device called "CDC Serial" not functioning properly eg a yellow exclamation mark next to it.
If you do, that's the problem. (don't close the device manager)
Grab the HTC drivers from the internet or from the phone.
If you want them from the phone:
Plug the phone in, select CD Installer as the USB mode.
Copy the HTCDrivers folder from the "CD drive" that appears in your "Computer", copy it somewhere.
Put the phone back in File Transfer mode.
Go back to device manager, right click the CDC Serial > Update driver software > Browse > Browse > select the HTCDrivers location and specifically the Win7_64 folder if you have 64bit OS, Win7_32 if you have a 32bit OS. Don't know which you have? Google it..
Next and so forth. It should install the driver and HTC Sync Manager should recognize the 10.
Don't forget to allow Sync Manager the permissions it needs.
I have the same problem with mac.

:good::good:Thank you!!!! That CDC Serial Driver was the problem and your step by step procedure fixed the problem, although one additional step is needed. USB Debugging needs to be activated in the Developer section while the phone is connected to the PC right after fixing the CDC Serial Driver. Then HTC Syn Manager works the treat with the HTC 10. Debugging is not required after that.
Many thanks!!:good::good:
I'm trying to connect my HTC 10 to a not very new Windows 8.1 PC, HTC Sync manager has been installed for years. The HTC 10 isn't recognized, not even when I set it to CD mode for it to present the HTC Sync Manager download to the PC.
Can it be due to the PC only supporting USB 2 and the HTC 10 being USB 3?
No, USB 2.0 v. 3.0 (/3.1 Gen1) makes no bloody difference, especially considering that the 3.0 mode is behind a switch in settings and disabled by default.
Make sure you have all the drivers* installed (see my post) and when you connect your phone make sure it's in file transfer mode and that you allow the permissions it asks on the phone.
If it still doesn't work, remove Sync manager and drivers, reinstall and so on and so forth.
*grab them from the phone
Did any try turning on adb?

Thanks guys.
I can't grab the drivers from my phone because it is not recognized, no matter what choice of connection I make on the HTC 10.
Turning on adb, that's done on the PC?
I will try a fresh install of HTC sync on my PC. Maybe my drivers are messed up due to HTC One M8 and Nexus 7 that have been connected earlier.
On your phone tap settings go down to about then tap software information. Now tap more then tap on build number like 10 times or until it says you are a developer.
Now tap back until you get back to the main settings menu and you should see developer options. Tap that and in there should see a debug option.

I have to say, that after 40 minutes of struggle trying to figure out why is the HTC Sync not working with my HTC 10, and after I found your post, it saved my day! I really thank you and salute you, buddy! It was all because of the "file transfer"
Yeah. I'm afraid it never worked properly for me on a mac either. Some features worked but I could never truly transfer files. Been using a simple app called "Android file transfer." It's the only way I've been able to have the mac recognize the phone as a device. Interface is terribly simple though. Swap files between HTC's folders and mac's...

Just had to do a fresh, install of Vista HPrem due to HDD failure.
WMDC is now out of beta, and I followed the install instructions from the download site to the letter, hard reset my Orbit.
Everytime I plug the orbit it, WMDC says 'connecting' for about 10 secs, then gives me a 'set up you device' / 'connect as a guest' dialogue for about 1 second before saying 'disconnected'.
I've literally tried this via system restore and even another fresh install of Vista loads of time and keep getting the same thing.
I had no real problem getting connected with WMDC beta's once I realised they existed.....how I wish I could download one now!
Any Ideas?
TIA
debully
x-posted to MS community support forums.
Vista runs fine with my orbit. There is a driver update you should get, but for me that only resolved a problem connecting Windows Media Player 11 to my storage card - the phone sync'd fine on Vista ever since I got it in February...
Maybe a hard reset is needed, or you can try connecting your orbit to another computer and deleting the connection to your old (beta) computer from there?
Tried that - a few times. Installed, reinstalled, robooted, reformatted, got updates from WU and manual, got driver update, hard resetted, reformatted......followed instructions to letter everytime. It dont work!
I reckon this is a new problem with the Orbit and WMDC 6 final. i.e. should you have a fresh install of Vista, and a freshly hard reseted device - they wont talk to each other.
I never had problems right from beta time, but fresh installs and hard resets are probably a rare condition today, something in the final release has been overlooked.
If anyone has successfully got a clean Orbit working with the please enlighten me.
Anyone got a beta 3 of WMDC knwocking about, I'm 99% sure I'll have no problem with that.
REALLY surprised others have not yet experienced this problem. It is only a matter of time........
Can someone please tell me what driver the use for the Orbit - I think there is a problem with the final version of WMDC detecting what device is in use when it installs the driver. It gives me a box saying 'installing device driver' and when clicked it says 'unidentified device'
The driver appears in device manager on my faulty system for 1 second under PORTABLE DEVICES > WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE and is version 6.0.6000.16386 before dissapearing!
If i knew the correct driver - I could probably forcably install it.
There are one or two other people floating round the net now with this problem not al with orbits though. I've tried someones suggestion of opening a few ports in Vista Firewall (which aint even enabled) - no good.
TIA
Try disabling the advanced network functionality mode from the USB to PC if you have that on your orbit.
When you connect your orbit, check as well if a local network connection is created under Network Connection.

Tried disabling the advanced network setting. Same fault. Connects for about 1 second then dissapears ('Smartphone Sync' remains - 'mobile device' vanishes in device manager). No network connections are made in this mode.
With advanced usb setting on a LAN connection is made and held although the 'mobile device' driver works for one second then vanishes

It's funny cause I dont even have the portable device in device manager. Maybe it's there on a default driver or something since it didn't recognise it at first. I think you need to get rid of all traces of the unrecognised device in your vista. Uninstall WMDC and the driver and start from a clean page, only plug in your device once everything has installed correctly. I'm having no problems with WMDC whatsoever on vista business, you have a weird problem buddy, it must be the different versions of WMDC.
Cheers.
cheers,
I reckon if you've upgraded from xp or a previos incarnation of wmdc then your ok. Or maybe if your device has previosly worked with wmdc.
I seem to think that if you have a clean install of vista, and a brand new device then you are ****ed.
Theres enough people floating round the net now with this problem to indicate to MS that there is a real problem. Lets see how quickly the giant responds.
If somebody could just go to the trouble of posting the drivers that appear under device manager when they plug their artemis in - well it would probably cure my issue.
I know it's a lot to ask, you have to monitor device manager, find out what changes are made after you plug in your working device, then open said devices, note driver files AND upload em.....
Is it christmas yet?

I hope it's not too obvious a question, but did you download the Vista Mobile Device Manager update from the Microsoft web site - I don't think that you can get vanilla Vista to sync with an Artemis without it.
In C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, there is WpdRapi.dll and WUDFRd.sys loaded when the Artemis is connected. Both are 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205).
Hope this helps ...
Phil - thanks again for the reply.
Yes I have the official downlaod from the official source.
I've successfully managed to install and sync an c500, c600 and m500 with wmdc with no problems.
But the drivers for the artemis just will not stick for more than one second before they say that the device has been disconnected.
Interestingly (although not sure about relevance) the serial driver loaded for the M500 is 'Pocket PC USB Sync' and the one for the Artemis is 'Smartphone USB Sync' - although forcing the driver does not resolve the issue.
I have created a new partition and installed vista on it. I get EXACTLY the same symptons before any drivers are installed (ie. on first boot) and after all updates (including afore mentioned official WMDC and driver update).
When the device is first plugged in I get a box come up which says 'installing unknown device' with a line below which says 'unidentified device - searching pre-configured folders). This never recognisises any devices but I am unable to find the unidentified device in device manager to manually force a driver.
Cheers for reading.
Nothing has ever foxed me so much for so long on a PC!
Nothing I try resolves this problem. And I now believe I have tried everything, including:
reinstalling vista on a new partition,
trying to install without additional drivers,
with additional drivers,
3 different cables,
virus scanners off, f
irewalls off,
3 other devices connect/sync ok,
uninstalling and reinstalling wmdc and driver update - reboots in between,
port opening,
driver forcing,
new bios - old bios.
Advanced USB connectivity on/off
Amonst other stuff! And still the problem is the same:
I plug in the phone - and the device listed in device manager under poertable devices (Windows Mobile device) appears until just after the 'set up your device' box appears in WMDC then dissapears. WMDC then reports 'not connected'
The driver which dissapears reports this to ms:

SOLVED
FFS I hope this helps someone and am fairy sure it will.
The problem is MS's answer to the problems that ppl were having syncing from wmplayer and their storage cards (I guess)
Basically, everytime the device is connected a few processes connected with windows media player start and if not manually ended will terminate the connection.
To be able to terminate these processes I had to put my laptop into power saving mode to lower the cpu speed and gain enough time to hit the 'end process' button a few times.
When you finally manage to stop each wmplayer connected service (i used task manager sorted alphabetically to see them) the device will install and WM
DC will finally sync.
Things to note:
WMDC and WMDC drive update were uninstalled - pc was rebooted.
advanced usb connectivity was turned off on device
existing partnerships had been deleted in activesync on device
*autoplay options set to 'do nothing' in Vista control panel*
Although this problem did not appear on 3 of my old devices, it is not a specific Artemis problem as I have read MANY reports of the same behaviour.
WMplayer will have to be manually killed on each connection or the device will disconnect - any ideas how to stop WMDC from launching on pluggin in device are welcome.
I lost a weekend to this.
SAme problem...really pi$$ing me off...though the above did not work for me..so gna rebuild my PC!
pi$$ed me off so much that I ebayed my Orbit and got a m700. No problems with this baby, running mUn's WM6 and its fast as a fast thing.
I noticed I had no problems syncing with the SD card taken out.
I also remember that I had stuck all my mp3's on the sd card via WM11 and the card reader on my lappy - this might be what causes a conflict. Just a hunch.
Hope you get it sorted soon - sadly it took me ages to find out just the cause of the problem and reformatting pc / hard resetting artemis did jack ****. I'm certain that wm11 had issues with my SD. Dont lose too much time on it - its far quicker to order another phone, and providing you have less than 7 months left on your contract, you could probably make a bit of cash - lifes too short to sit there working out other ppl's mistakes! Never again.
Good luck - and see you in the trinity forum soon!
debully
lol..
Well...little over an hour later all back up and running..and i have also put my backed up data back in..Orbit is also now working....
Hey Sam and debully, I have exactly the same problem. Things I tried to fix the issue:
- changed usb cable, switched between different USB slots
- soft-reset, hard-reset phone no luck
- went from XP to Vista but same problem
- uninstalled all USB Drivers, rebooted, plugged in my HTC P3300, but no success.
- Tried on 3 pc's, but every pc say's USB-device unrecognized
If you read above you probably think it's broken, but the phone synced flawlessy for 3 months untill now
Vista does recognize the phone, and it installs 'Windows Mobile Remote Adapter', but then just nothing happens. WMDC can' t connect. So like you said debully, I launched Taskmanager before installing Windows Remote Adapter. After the installation of the adapter a Windows Mediaplayer proccess starts for just 1 second, and then it's gone. You think this is the problem? In your case tthere were more WM proccesses he? If it is, is there a program which slows down the CPU of a desktop, so I can terminate it?
Don't feel like sending it to a factory, I still have little hope I can fix this.
Thnx for reading, srry for bad english
Greetz
p.s: Sam, how did you fix it?

1-Found the CID of your card.
insert your micro sd into an android device (i've do this on hd2)
connect it to your computer as disk drive with usb debug on
then press get cid into Gold Card Tool.exe
we need reversing CID to create img .
2-Generate goldcard.img
go to the link provide by Gold Card Tool.
add your mail, the CID and select Windows mobile 7
Press the Generate button
the goldcard.img is send to your mail box.
Load it to Gold Card Tool
select your android storage letter & press patch MMC.
3-Found HTC original Rom for your Device
Extract exe with winrar then rename Ruu_signed.nbh
to
-Sparimg.nbh for Trophy
-SCHUIMG.nbh for Schubert
- MONDIMG.nbh for Mondrian
- MOZAIMG.nbh for Mozart
copy it to your freshly created goldcard.
4-connect usb cable except the one for the wp7
boot your device into usb host mode(volume down + camera on Trophy)
and connect the last usb cable.
the screen of your wp7 look like this if all work.
with this you can flash official HTC rom on your Vodafone ,O2,Orange...operator device.
i have also flash Spl from official rom to my vodafone Trophy by this way but always a vendor id error with the official updater!!
i'm searching why!
tested on Trophy,hd7,Mozart,HTC Surround.
thx viperbjk for the original thread.
Thanks for that, but yet another question. It seems like ansar is doing similar at the moment, or is that different?
Super!
Succesfuly unbranded my Trophy (Network A1 Austria)---->WWE Europe.
I made the cable myself, CID and Goldcard using Android, but flashing from Windows 6.5.5 connected as Disk Drive (HTC HD2 also used for it)
Many thanks!!
Thanks

Hi,
upgrade does not start. Am I missing something?
I am running an Android NAND ROM on my HD2 connected with USB DISK DEBUG mode. I patched the sdcard with the goldcard.img I was sent.
Copied a MOZAIMG.nbh to the goldcard
Then I conect the Mozart in USB Host mode to another USB port on the PC.
Now nothing is happening?
Could it be a buggy USB debig mode on the Android NAND rom on the HD2?

Hi,
I tried to flash my Trophy using the RUU utils, it seemed to work but then something went wrong and my radio part is all messed up. I can no longer use the RUU program as it reports 'Invalid Model ID'. So my next option was to create a Gold Card and see if that works.
So I have created a goldcard and I copied the image and renamed it, connected all the cables up and it comes up with 'Loading...' on the screen, then changes to 'Checking....' but then brings up a white bar near the bottom saying 'Serial'. And just stops there. Any idea what that means?
Is my goldcard not correct, or my sd card not compatible?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Thanks it works perfect.

2. goldcard android created

Normally, plugging the device into the PC will trigger Microsoft update to download WMDC on the next update. This is the way it has always worked for me. Otherwise, simply download it straight from MS.
WMDC x86
WMDC x64
I was able to get WMDC installed, but when I connect my phone to it it still will not sync. When I start WMDC all it has "connecting" and then an error pops up.

Did you uncheck "Enable faster data synchronization" as I mentioned before?
Yes I did. I then connected the phone to my PC and forced an update. The PC did the update and installed WMDC. WMDC is picking up the phone, but nothing after that. I also checked my firewall setting on the PC and it is checked to allow WMDC. When I go to ActiveSync on my phone it comes up with instructions on how to download the sync software on the PC.
Also all of the options on the Menu of the ActiveSync section of the phone is grayed out.

Using your favorite registry editor, check the following registry string and change its value if it does not match. It should work after the change has been made.
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers
Change "DefaultClientDriver" to "Serial_Class"

It isn't a file, you need to use whichever registry editor you like to navigate to that string. If it isn't there, then create it.
When I said "file" I said it wrong. Here is what I did.
I went to start and typed in "regedit" and it brought up the "Registry Editor" that is in Windows already. I then went to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" and it had the following sub-locations. Which one of these sub-locations would I look in for the "drivers\USB\Functiondriver". I have looked, but no luck yet.
Here are the sub-locations.

Do you have a registry editor for your device at all, or do you need a recommendation on one to use?
I was able to get my phone to sync up with my laptop with no issues at all. So I will use if for any syncing I need to do.
Thanks for all of the help.

No. Why would the phone sync when you don't even have an operating system loaded on it? You need to reinstall WM on your phone. WMDC only syncs with a powered on WM device.

MUST RUN AS ADMIN TO INSTALL DRIVERS!
Changelog
v12.02.23.2
1. Fixed deadlock when app starts without ADB server already running, added start-up status window.
2. Automatically scan for devices after installing drivers.
v12.02.23
Initial Release
Summary
This tool allows you to try out different recoveries very easily. I was frustrated with the different methods for downloading and installing different recoveries and didn't like that there wasn't really a central place to find them so I wrote this tool to use ADB and Fastboot to very quickly switch between them. This tool is very far from done and more features and probably a complete overhaul are at some point in the near future.
Bugs
1. Cannot select between different devices although it appears to allow you to do so. It might flash to a different phone if you have more than one hooked up in fastboot mode.
2. Doesn't actually check to see if the phone is an Inc 2.
3. Sometimes the recoveries get unlocked even though the phone isn't in fastboot mode, if you click one of them fastboot.exe will wait on the phone forever and freeze the program.
Upcoming Improvements
1. Much improved download size.
2. Ability to try recoveries before flashing them.
3. Threaded device state monitoring - gets rid of prompts and keeps the app from freezing.
4. Ability to select between multiple devices.
5. Eventually a better GUI.
6. More consistency throughout the program.
Reserved for future use.
im gonna try this now, thanks
EDIT: not working on Win7 x64. the program wont run. It just goes not responding as soon as i start it both as admin and normal

I had the same result on Win7 x64.
Update v12.02.23.2
Changelog in first post.
Fixed.
Thanks for pointing out the bug. It was the middle of the night and I was tired, didn't think to try to start the app without ADB already running. Should be fixed now in the first post.
still not working for me same problem
OP,
Are we supposed to manually install the drivers? If so, the x64 drivers will not install, even when run as administrator.
I am also getting the same result with the new files. I even tried killing and starting adb to no avail.

Start ADB before running the program and let me know if that works. I did find the problem you were having and solved it on my end. Do you see a window that says "Starting ADB . . ." when you run the program? If not, make sure you're running the current version.

Make sure your phone is plugged in before installing the drivers. You might need to uninstall other drivers first or you might not need to install the drivers at all. Does it find your phone if you just skip the driver installation?
Still no go on two different computers both Win7 x64... If I try to install the drivers separately it says that the drivers cannot be installed.
Edit: Upon further investigation, I tried to manually install again by directing the device manager to the EXACT file and this is what I get.

You shouldn't have to install the drivers just to get the program to open. Can you describe exactly what's happening?

Yeah, I know... When I try to open your exe file it immediately says the program is not responding. I have tried to execute as administrator and run in compatibility mode.

I have the same issue stated here
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
Alright, removed the download link. Guess I'll have to setup a VM to figure this out. It works for me with the included drivers OR the "My HTC" drivers and I'm not having any issues with the app freezing so it must be something about this setup.
Hi!
I have just installed Windows 8 64bit on my PC. Now I want to use flashtool (flashtool-0.9.7.0-windows).
However, it's telling me that I need some drivers before I can flash my phone (xperia play r800i). I tried using this method:
sewer56lol said:
You have to disable driver signature checks as windows won't allow them, if you know how then upon boot go to troubleshoot settings (If you do not dual boot then you are forced to pull in your installation CD and go to Repair Computer section)
Then you go to advanced settings and after you hit boot in Safe Mode, reboot and then install the drivers and after that you need to reboot again to go to normal mode.

However, I think that I'm failing miserably. I get this error (while installing the drivers in failsafe mode):
DPInst.exe does not execute on your current Operating System.

The drivers I am installing is:
"Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia PLAY, Xperia acro IS11S, Xperia acro SO-02C drivers"
(From a list inside the program "C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe")
I also tried to do something listed on MSDN:
Thanks Marilyn and Hadron for your responses. It turns out I finally came across the solution I was looking for shortly after posting this. Here's what I did:
Open a command prompt as an admin and type:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS (hit Enter)
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON (hit Enter)
I might have rebooted after that. That put the machine in test mode, like I was going for, and allowed me to install the unverified test driver.

But that failed too. Didn't really give me anything but the same error.
I am using Flashtool 64, since I'm on a 64 bit computer.

When I try to execute the drivers in normal mode (ie. not fail safe) I get this:
" Driver name / status
[ ✓ ] Sony Ericsson (WinUsb) sa0102AdbDeviceClass (12/10/2010 2.0.0010.20010) / Ready to use
[ X ] Sony Ericsson Net (11/18/2010 6.0.6000.16388) / Install failed"
Did you check the flash box & fastboot box when choosing the drivers to install. They are at the bottom of the drivers selection.

I have tried it now. The results can be seen in this video I've made:
Installation of the drivers
As you can see, it fails to install the drivers.
I have a windows 7 laptop, but its just so slow to work with compared to my desktop w/ w8. The laptop basically have 512 mb ram & 1.66 ghz cpu.
Hope someone can help me fix this issue.
Have you unlocked your bootloader?
E: Never mind. Have you tried to do it manually or through flashtool via adb?

What you tested was the beta. The other guy has the final product of windows 8 which is a different kind of beat.
New Info: In order to install applicatons on your windows 8 machine the applocation must have the approval from microsoft. Ouch..... Im stickin with windows 7 then maybe for good if Microsoft is going this route.
are the drivers just not installing altogether or do you get a can't start error?

totally agree with you chery2k just stick to win7 untill oxide& crew have a fix btw I think win8 is S***
also which version of flashtool did u guys try as 0.9.0.0 was released recently and new update coming soon(or may be out).
try this
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
reboot
download drivers (test signed a few)
try to run dpinst64 (if that fails)
manually install them
report back
also smartscreen can be turned off during install of windows 8
me too..
I do not think windows 8 it self the problem. I tested flashing with flashtool 0.9.9.0 in a windows 8 VM, the driver appear to be installed and it attempted to flash, but the phone would disconnect before it could flash. I think the reason for that is the VM.
On my VM i have smartscreen and UAC turned off
the drivers i used are in my previous post
I can confirm drivers are not working anymore on Windows 8....:crying:
to continue with my last post I think the reason people are having problems is USER ERROR and not they are not willing to try and fix it them self.
i installed flash tool and the drivers on windows 8 32 bit without any problem or errors or pop up security screens the only screen i got was the driver not verified by windows crap and just installed it anyway and worked fine...if u just want to flash your phone just install the flashmode and fastboot drivers dont worry about the xperia play driver...and dont forget to disable your antivirus

I had a similar problem the other day while working on getting my r800at's fastboot to be identified in Flashtool. I did the same as you, regarding trying to install the Xperia Drivers from the flashtool app itself, but it didn't work.
What I did to successfully install drivers was use SuperOneClick. There should be an option in the Advanced Tab to "Check Drivers", and since it won't find any, it'll ask if you want it to forcibly install the drivers. Allow it to, and it should immediately have working drivers. This worked on a Windows 7 64-bit OS, I'm unsure of how it'll pan out with W8, but good luck.
I'm running win8 too, in the flashtool folder in the C: drive, there should be a drivers folder, just run the installer that's in there. make sure the android SDK is installed first. Did you install android SDK?
