1-Found the CID of your card.
insert your micro sd into an android device (i've do this on hd2)
connect it to your computer as disk drive with usb debug on
then press get cid into Gold Card Tool.exe
we need reversing CID to create img .
2-Generate goldcard.img
go to the link provide by Gold Card Tool.
add your mail, the CID and select Windows mobile 7
Press the Generate button
the goldcard.img is send to your mail box.
Load it to Gold Card Tool
select your android storage letter & press patch MMC.
3-Found HTC original Rom for your Device
Extract exe with winrar then rename Ruu_signed.nbh
to
-Sparimg.nbh for Trophy
-SCHUIMG.nbh for Schubert
- MONDIMG.nbh for Mondrian
- MOZAIMG.nbh for Mozart
copy it to your freshly created goldcard.
4-connect usb cable except the one for the wp7
boot your device into usb host mode(volume down + camera on Trophy)
and connect the last usb cable.
the screen of your wp7 look like this if all work.
with this you can flash official HTC rom on your Vodafone ,O2,Orange...operator device.
i have also flash Spl from official rom to my vodafone Trophy by this way but always a vendor id error with the official updater!!
i'm searching why!
tested on Trophy,hd7,Mozart,HTC Surround.
thx viperbjk for the original thread.

Thanks for that, but yet another question. It seems like ansar is doing similar at the moment, or is that different?

Super!
Succesfuly unbranded my Trophy (Network A1 Austria)---->WWE Europe.
I made the cable myself, CID and Goldcard using Android, but flashing from Windows 6.5.5 connected as Disk Drive (HTC HD2 also used for it)
Many thanks!!

Thanks

HTC HUB
This might be another silly question. but does this effect HTC apps like the HTC HUB in any way??
Also does this restore the phone to factory default?

you could better ask that in the rom thread (hub will stay, phone will restore)

Hi,
upgrade does not start. Am I missing something?
I am running an Android NAND ROM on my HD2 connected with USB DISK DEBUG mode. I patched the sdcard with the goldcard.img I was sent.
Copied a MOZAIMG.nbh to the goldcard
Then I conect the Mozart in USB Host mode to another USB port on the PC.
Now nothing is happening?
Could it be a buggy USB debig mode on the Android NAND rom on the HD2?

Hi
try without usb debug mode active
or use device with windows mobile.

Ok no android no unbranding! can we just unbrand with a simple windows software?!! 2011 i hate to say using a system where as if you make a step mistake or have no internet your device is fried!! Just get this everything in one software! And we will be more than happy to get you a beer

Following GLOBAL UNBRANDING ROM in Mozart thread by ANSAR and do this.
Then you can do that. Anyone know both hex and dec (32 bit?) format for CID and algorithm/checksumming etc?
Done

Hi,
I tried to follow this procedure but i got error = "no image file".
Any idea, what could be he problem?
Regards,
Ren

Help!
I need complete guide because i cannot read cid, and my sd card is in xperia x10! is it possible to connect wp7 phone and android device on two seperate usbs? is it also possible to use usb y-cable that i got with my external hdd or use a portable usb hub instead?
Thanx in advance, Natko

Wish there was a windows program that does the unbranding with a few clicks

Follow the instructions but receive a message ,,Not allowed,, with HTC 7 Trophy
Any ideas?

So, you guys who have flashed the unbranded ROMs, did you then get offered the update from MS, or is it still waiting for the carrier?

another lazy wp7 user, want a one or two scoops of aint gonna happen with that?

Hi,
I tried to flash my Trophy using the RUU utils, it seemed to work but then something went wrong and my radio part is all messed up. I can no longer use the RUU program as it reports 'Invalid Model ID'. So my next option was to create a Gold Card and see if that works.
So I have created a goldcard and I copied the image and renamed it, connected all the cables up and it comes up with 'Loading...' on the screen, then changes to 'Checking....' but then brings up a white bar near the bottom saying 'Serial'. And just stops there. Any idea what that means?
Is my goldcard not correct, or my sd card not compatible?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,

Thanks it works perfect.
i flashed htc trophy vodafone germany demo unit with
RUU_Spark_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.00_Spark_5.54.09_RELEASE.exe
my steps:
1. built schematic ( i used an old 4 port hub )
2. goldcard android created
3. image extracted and renamed and moved to goldcard microsd (microsd card in my hd2)
4. my hd2 started with magldr1.13 as usb MassStg (Massstorage)
5. hub connected into notebook (5v power) and hd2 cable connected into my hub
6. boot w7 phone into usb mode
7. w7 phone cable connected into my hub
8. flash update start
9. wait and finish

Cant upgrade my HTC to HardSPLv7

Hi Guys,
im trying to flash my HTC with HardSPLv7 following the www.mrvanx.org guide funny enough what happen is that the installer starts everything fine once the mobile device is going into the colored screen the installer waits for about 1 min. and then telling me that the installer is unable to connect to my device. Im using windows vista, and windows Mobile device At the moment I have windows 5 on the device
I have never been able to flash HardSPLv7 using Vista. Same result. Unable to connect to device once in bootloader, although the HTC drivers have been updated. It works fine with other roms or radio upgrades. I had to use XP to flash it. Didn't search for a workaround as I still can boot XP.

Really works for me... wath do you do?
Have followed the tuto. Everything starts as usual. The TyTN goes into bootloader, but then the installer waits for some seconds and finally displays an error. Using XP it went fine. So I didn't search any longer. But my Vista should be fine as I have already flashed several roms and radio versions.

Well, both are right, using Vista and following the MxVanx guide to upgrade HardSPLv7 dosn't work, cause last HardSPL force to use SSPL every time, and you can't mix two process...
So i think you can upgrade the HardSPL using Vista in this steps ...
1. Put SSPL in the PDA and execute it (tri-color screen) You can get SSPL from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293651
2. Connect the PDA and disable/kill WDCM
3. Download last CustomRUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298737
4. put last CustomRUU and RUU_signed.nbh from HardSPLV7 in same folder
5. execute RUUWarper.exe and select only 1.09 bootloader (cause this is BL version SSPL is based on). Don't select "It's HardSPL?" if you don't have previous version of HardSPL.

The mrvanx guide is the best, the Vista help will enable you to flash, I do it myself no problem.
I wonder if it's possible to flash it using the sdcard method? (renaming the RUU_signed.nbh to HERMIMG.nbh?)

no its not... hence the term "Hard" in HardSPL... hence cannot he overwritten... you need to use SSPL when overwriting the SPL...
Thanks for the quick answer!
I was just wondering about it since I just can't get vista to upgrade my Hermes... (The HTC USB sync device doesn't appear in the device manager, even though it connects fine with the WMDC)
Well, I guess i'll look for a Xp box.
Thanks again

Its for the sd card method, don't need pc.
You can also use this method to flash a new OS but just leave out steps 5 and 6. No need for sspl.exe after Hard SPL is installed.
Cheers...
I had trouble with v7 as well..there IS now a version 9...which worked great with vista 32-bit
Hard SPL V9 is a developer SPL, unless you are developing softwares and ROMs for your Hermes its not recommended to flash this. There is NO advantage flashing V9 over V7 for the person who just wants to flash. In some cases it actually caused confusion and problems. You are allowed to use whatever you want but there is a reason we advocate Hard SPL V7 and NOT Hard SPL V9.
hermes fiddling
I am new to hermes as I only used a wizard before. The HERMIMG/ Wrapper.exe spl update works fine. I got the same communication error 260 as shown above but I did not hit quit and the ROM flashed perfectly. The info on ppc screen should take precedence over what's on the PC screen. I also had to shut down all internal security features from McAfee, not just the internet firewalls.

Cavalier SSPL (JumpSPL) & HardSPL

Please find attached a SSPL (also known as JumpSPL) for Cavalier. Running it will allow you to flash a HardSPL. The HardSPL is a SPL (bootloader) which can not be overwritten and which allows you to flash roms (both official and cooked roms) and rom parts (radio, OS, splash, etc). If you want to replace the HardSPL you must run the SSPL again and then flash another SPL.
Make sure your device is application unlocked. If not, run the attached SDA unlocker on your PC and reboot your device when prompted.
Connect your device with a usb cable and make sure activesync is green and ready with syncing. Unzip the files in a single directory on your PC and run "sspl.bat". Confirm each step by pressing enter and also check the display of your device.
If all goes well the display changes to the tricolor bootloader screen or it may turn grey, black or white. Disconnect and reconnect usb cable and wait 20 seconds. The activesync will disconnect. Unzip "HardSPL-Cavalier-1.0-JockyW.zip" and flash the HardSPL by running "ROMUpdateUtility.exe".
Rom cooking for Cavalier can now start.
Have fun!

I am seing the same behavior.
IMHO this phone is basically abandonware. HTC shipped a quad band world phone but is offering essentially zero support or updates for it.

Well, using the jumpspl I was able to get the WWE rom to at least try to install. Then it hangs with an "update error" code 262 and quasi-bricks the device. Running the RUU for the hardspl un-blocks it.
At this time all I've managed to do is replace the HTC boot logo with the dopod boot logo.
Edit: success. Key to success: RTFM and a bit of reading between the lines.
1- Run the jumpSPL batch file. Make sure the screen on the phone has not blanked. Watch it. When asked if it is OK to run the jumpspl, say yes. Then observe at the bottom of the display what appears to be the top of a button on the warning screen: click the center d-pad button for OK.
2- Now you should see the rainbow colored rom loader and text on the screen indicateing it is the "jump" variant. Look at the bottom of the display do you see the text "USB"? If not unplug and re-plug the usb cable. The text "USB" should show up now.
3- Run the hardspl RUU package. It should work now.
4- After a reboot of the device and what not you can now flash the latest WWE build from the FTP server or whatever cooked bit syou migth be trying.
I run the RUU updater step to step and see this error, what problem

since it seems to be the old problem, there was no need to open a new thread, you could have bumped the old one.
also, the answer is still the same. you can find shipped roms at http://xplode.tk
the fact that the wm2003 rom, offered in my tut thread, is corrupt, is aready known. i will fix that some time.

you cannot just download and double click it, i thought that was self explanatory. you need to right click the exe and extract it, in it you will find the ruu and the roms, then you take a custom ruu, like the Chef_Tony RUU from my signature and use that to flash.
also, since you are using windows 7 to flash the device, you need to install another driver and deactivate usb connections in wmdc. use d-two's tutorial on windows 7 flashing here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5456317&postcount=6
or simply use a windows xp computer and follow the tutorial in my signature.
ts ts, just doubleclicking the exe, if it was that easy, there would be no need for a 30 step tutorial
i had extracted the files to a folder .. anyways ive got more picks to show this error . after doing what was said .

done everything the pdf asked with success yet i still cant extract my orange rom as pictures above show.
you didn't do everything from the instructions, you are still using BAupgradeut.exe.
you were supposed to use MAupgradeut_noID.exe.
also, i don't see the TEST MODE watermark on your desktop, which can mean several things:
1. you use windows 7 32 bit and everything went fine
2. you use windows 7 64 bit and removed the watermark already, also fine
3. something went wrong during the installation or you skipped a step.
you should straighten these 2 things out before attempting to continue.
also you should put the device into bootloader mode before flashing, charge the battery to 100% and remove both the sim and sd card, just a general advice, i don't know, if you already did that.
the problem, the ruu gives you, however, is not solvable with any of the tips given above. the extrom from the rom you downloaded, seems to be corrupt. the extrom is the file called ms_.nbf and contains carrier-related cab files like a custom wallpaper, dialer skin and other useless stuff. here are some ways to get rid of that problem:
1. resize the partitions using mtty and flash without the extrom:
1.1 with a full battery and without sim and sd card, put the device into bootloader mode
1.2 disable usb connections in the wmdc
1.3 start mtty (look it up in the wiki or through google)
1.4 select wceusb or usb, 115200-8-1-N-N-N, press ok
1.5 hit enter, so it shows USB>
1.6 type task 28aa
now, the partitions are back to factory defaults, close mtty and disconnect the device, still in bootloader mode
1.7 delete the ms_.nbf or move it to another folder
1.8 in bootloader mode, start the ruu and flash the rom and the radio rom.
method 2 is easier:
2. crc errors appear during corrupt downloads, maybe your connection speed fluctuated, maybe you use a wi-fi connection which swallowed a bit or two, or the file was actually corrupt to begin with, try another mirror, or maybe even another rom, there are many different english wm2003 roms at xplode's archive, your carrier is not important.
2.1 flash it using maupgrade, bootloader mode, without cards...
followed you last instruction to the letter and all is GOOD
thank very much

[Noob-friendly] Goldcard SPL Downgrade Method; No Android-Phone and/or custom wires!

Evening,
This a tutorial about how to easily downgrade your HTC Phones bootloader to install hspl and custom roms.
FAQ:
1) What is a GoldCard? A) It's a method to easily flash ROM files etc.
2) My phone performs an infinite reboot-loop, what to do? Answer: A couple of reboots are normal, if the phone keeps rebooting for more than 5 minutes, try this: a) Be sure to format the card to fat32 b) Try another sd-card/flashdrive or a different card reader. c) Check your cable configuration.
3) Can I fix a bricked bootloader with this method? Answer: Yes! If you're able to get into USB-Host Mode it's possible. If you're not able to get into USB Host Mode with a bricked bootloader, post a comment with you're device details, we might be able to help you out.
4) Only shows "Entering USB Mode" Answer: This means your phone can't access the file. A) Try another cable configuration B) Check if card is formatted to fat32 C) try another cable, card reader or card. Some cards/flash-drives just don't work. I highly recommend to use a SD/MicroSD card, since they're way more likely to work.
What you need
Hardware:
- Micro SD Card or SD Card. Some users succeeded using flashdrives (for example USB-sticks), but I highly recommend SD Cards/MicroSD Cards., since most flashdrives don't work.
- Card reader
- Y-Cable USB
- USB Gender Changer
Files:
- Goldcard-tool
- My custom goldcard.img
- Your device-specific .nbh image.
You need to download a nodo rom for your device and extract Ruu_signed.nbh via Winrar. Rename it to
-Sparimg.nbh for Spark (Trophy)
Rom-download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427904
-Spawimg.nbh for Verizon/CDMA Spark
Rom-download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427904

So let's start:
Make sure you're battery is above 50%
Format the MicroSD Card to fat32
Copy the .nbh Image to the MicroSD Card
Launch Goldcard Tool
While ignoring the cid box, choose "Load GoldCard.img" and select the goldcard.img you just downloaded
Press "Patch MMC" and wait for confirmation
Unplug the MicroSD Card
Connect the Y-Cable and the USB-gender-changer like shown in the picture
Connect the MicroSD-Card
Connect your phone
Connect the y-cable to an ordinary usb port
Hold Power+Camera+VolumeDown until the USB Host Mode appears
Wait about 30 min until the update completes. The phone may reboot a couple of times.
After the update completed, unplug your phone and reboot

Now your spl should be downgraded.
Now you can install HSPL, visit this thread for further details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
After that, you can install any custom roms. You'll find those in the Development section of your Device forum in XDA. For example for Tropy here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=812

same old thing........
But, a much better-written tutorial, plus links, than was available in one place before. Good stuff!
You can add to first post my movie about this (if you want).

I think this is something that we done to our HD7 right? (If i'm not mistaken)
It can be done to any gen1 HTC phone to safely downgrade the SPL (in order tin install RSPL/HSPL and custom ROMs).
I believe there is a thread about goldcard somewhere in the forum.

There are few ones. I credited them in the OP.
The point why I wrote this guide is, that the previous guides often included unnecessary steps, they were sometimes inconsistent between each other, not very detailed, you needed to build yourself custom wires, and manually find the necessary files yourself.
So I wrote an easy, minimal, noob-friendly guide.
anyway I like your thread and post.
I'll have to order the parts to try this GoldCard method next week.
Can you please add information to your first post about Spark_W (CDMA Trophy for Verizon Wireless)?
Image name: SPAWIMG.nhb
Rom image link is exact same as Spark, since Football also includes Spark_W roms in the list. Also note that SPL downgrade for Spark_W is from ver 2.x to ver 1.03.
I plan on buying the stuff to try this method next week, since it is much easier then regular GoldCard method, and I've been too lazy to solder my hacked up USB y-cable.
So this custom GoldCard.img doesn't require a serial number of an SDCard? That's awesome
Spark_W users, even though they have a downgrade method using roms, still might need GoldCard method to fix half-bricked bootloaders.. which I actually found a repeatable scenerio that might become common for some shortly.
If your setup works for Spark_W, then it will totally become my go-to guide to point people at, since it removes the need for a phone, and its in a simple and easy to understand guide with links to items that make it work.
Only thing I would add (which was one the reasons I was going to write a guide to GoldCard) would be.. at the start of your guide:
1) Q. What is a GoldCard? A) A specially formatted SDCard used to flash a stock rom to a phone when normal flashing methods do not work.
2) Q. Why would I need to make a GoldCard? A) To downgrade your SPL when you are unable to flash an SPL downgrade using other methods, or when your bootloader becomes "halfbricked" and will not allow you to flash using a PC and a USB cable.
Great job, and I'll be bookmarking this for future use... and probably editing my HSPL Spark_W guide to point at this.
Thanks, I'll include that.
so my phone is one of them bricked ones.. it works fine, but the device doesnt get recognized in bootloader mode.. will this method help me downgrade the rom and fix the bootloader? today i tried a couple of times to enter usb host mode, but with no success.. does the phone have to be connected to a pc when i'm trying to enter host mode? if i press vol up+camera+power, the phone goes in... download mode? i dont really what mode it is.. but it shows a mobile phone, usb cable and a laptop.. will this mode work? and last... for how long i need to hold vol down+camera+power to enter usb host mode? thnx for your replies in advance

I had same problem with my HTC 7 Pro (bricked) and on last december and, if I remember well, with goldcard I was able to get back my bootloader.
Then I could HSPL my device and install custom rom!
Have a look also to the video in the third or fourth post of this thread to see how to connect sd reader, phone etc etc...
Hello wonderful tutorial, but the GoldCardTool link is dead, and tried to find this software on many sites and got nothing .... but even so it still seems a very simple tutorial for users.
Add the following image nbh.
- MONDIMG.nbh to Mondrian (HTC 7 Surround)
Thanks and sorry for my bad English

I haven't tested, but I'm 95% sure that this method will fix your phone.
To enter USB Host Mode, shut down your phone and then press power+camera+volume-down for about 10 sec. The phone doesn't need to be connected to a pc.
Regards, Klaus
First of all, did not know that there was one more command to the device,
such as mentioned by the major user MarysFetus, so I decided to turn my HTC Trophy with DFT HSPL v3 to the original custom OSPL to test this method and update to the 8107 version with the zune, and did not want to update it more if I suffered half brick lol. (Also that it did not take this method as I HSPL available, but curiosity killed me haha)
Thanks for giving the user Budniu version 0.0.5.
As it was held the following commands (hold) "power / volume (+) / camera" and we'll be out a phone with a USB and a PC laptop and thus to test the method could make the Gold card method of this post. .. satisfactorily.
By that I mean it's a great post!
Maybe holding down the buttons (volume (less) + Camera button + Power) came into USB Host mode and may also perform the same method and tested it or not, since I never was needed ..... . HSPL qu already available, but it is now certain is that this method with the first mentioned commands could make the gold card, simply out of curiosity: P
Sorry for my bad English and I use the google translator and I would not confuse users for my bad translations

The difference is buying wires, or actually building custom wires yourself.

HTC Sync Manager Software and the HTC 10

Has anyone been able to get the HTC Sync Manager software to recognize and work with the HTC 10?
I can not, and I have the most current version of the software installed.

Are you using the version actually on the 10 itself?
edit: scratch that, not actually sure that is the application itself.

It's not. You're referring to the HTC Transfer Tool. That won't work between my 10 and the old HTC One either.

I was talking about the option that appears when you select to change from charging only on the main menu, but the ISO associated isn't big enough (20meg) to be the full application.
Just got off the phone with HTC Support Escalations. It is now a known problem; and they are getting lots of reports that the HTC Sync Manager will not recognize the unlocked HTC 10. They can replicate the problem and it has been escalated up the line to come up with a solution. She promised to call back when they have something to report.
It's working for my vzw model. What I did was choose for usb connection file transfer, and it connects.

Works on Windows 10 for me, not on Mac.
Escalation person mentioned unlocked HTC 10's as having the problem.

Tell them that it works just fine on Windows 10 (Pro x64 if that matters).
Doesn't work on my Windows 7 (Ultimate x64 if it matters).
Firing up a Win 8.1 Pro VM as we speak just for the giggles. Doesn't take all that long to install..
Just a few clicks in Workstation and it does it all for me automagically, how lovely.
Aaand time, 8 minutes to install Windows.
Result, works just fine in Windows 8.1 (Pro x4 if it matters).
And for the literal giggles, here's a Windows 7 Pro x64 inside a VM.
Works just fine. What in the actual f*ck.
And in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 install, not a VM, it does not connect. Seriously, what?
Aaalrighty, looks like the CDC Serial driver didn't install properly for me. Might be a problem for some of you.
Start Menu > type Device Manager or find it through Control Panel > see if you have a device called "CDC Serial" not functioning properly eg a yellow exclamation mark next to it.
If you do, that's the problem. (don't close the device manager)
Grab the HTC drivers from the internet or from the phone.
If you want them from the phone:
Plug the phone in, select CD Installer as the USB mode.
Copy the HTCDrivers folder from the "CD drive" that appears in your "Computer", copy it somewhere.
Put the phone back in File Transfer mode.
Go back to device manager, right click the CDC Serial > Update driver software > Browse > Browse > select the HTCDrivers location and specifically the Win7_64 folder if you have 64bit OS, Win7_32 if you have a 32bit OS. Don't know which you have? Google it..
Next and so forth. It should install the driver and HTC Sync Manager should recognize the 10.
Don't forget to allow Sync Manager the permissions it needs.
I have the same problem with mac.

:good::good:Thank you!!!! That CDC Serial Driver was the problem and your step by step procedure fixed the problem, although one additional step is needed. USB Debugging needs to be activated in the Developer section while the phone is connected to the PC right after fixing the CDC Serial Driver. Then HTC Syn Manager works the treat with the HTC 10. Debugging is not required after that.
Many thanks!!:good::good:
I'm trying to connect my HTC 10 to a not very new Windows 8.1 PC, HTC Sync manager has been installed for years. The HTC 10 isn't recognized, not even when I set it to CD mode for it to present the HTC Sync Manager download to the PC.
Can it be due to the PC only supporting USB 2 and the HTC 10 being USB 3?
No, USB 2.0 v. 3.0 (/3.1 Gen1) makes no bloody difference, especially considering that the 3.0 mode is behind a switch in settings and disabled by default.
Make sure you have all the drivers* installed (see my post) and when you connect your phone make sure it's in file transfer mode and that you allow the permissions it asks on the phone.
If it still doesn't work, remove Sync manager and drivers, reinstall and so on and so forth.
*grab them from the phone
Did any try turning on adb?
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Thanks guys.
I can't grab the drivers from my phone because it is not recognized, no matter what choice of connection I make on the HTC 10.
Turning on adb, that's done on the PC?
I will try a fresh install of HTC sync on my PC. Maybe my drivers are messed up due to HTC One M8 and Nexus 7 that have been connected earlier.
On your phone tap settings go down to about then tap software information. Now tap more then tap on build number like 10 times or until it says you are a developer.
Now tap back until you get back to the main settings menu and you should see developer options. Tap that and in there should see a debug option.

I have to say, that after 40 minutes of struggle trying to figure out why is the HTC Sync not working with my HTC 10, and after I found your post, it saved my day! I really thank you and salute you, buddy! It was all because of the "file transfer"
Yeah. I'm afraid it never worked properly for me on a mac either. Some features worked but I could never truly transfer files. Been using a simple app called "Android file transfer." It's the only way I've been able to have the mac recognize the phone as a device. Interface is terribly simple though. Swap files between HTC's folders and mac's...
