I have installed experience ROM on my OnePlus 3 and tried using Dolby Atmos. The sound quality improved drastically but the audio was choppy/stuttering on Google play music with the audio enhancement. The music is locally stored and works perfectly when atmos is switched off. Is there any way to make it stop stuttering as I would like to listen to my music with Atmos switched on? Any help would be appreciated.

I had the very same problem with FreedomOS+Dolby Atmos. I resolved this by increasing min cpu frequence from 307 MHz to 422MHz. I have ElementalX and used EX Kernel Manager.
I have tested by listening to the same song at 307 MHz and 422MHz. Stutters disappears at 422MHz.
Feel like i need to write this down, incase any else have similar issue.
Just upgraded to Freedom OS 2.3 (OOS 4.0.3?) And installed Viper4Arise.
Stumbled upon this very issue, but with any emulator instead (Gameboy, N64, etc).
So after reading this, i opened Viper4Arise and turned "Master Power" to ON, and bam! No more stutter, just like that.
I left everything else in that app to OFF but Master Power.
So anyone having stuttering issue with sound, check any audio enhancing app/mod you may have installed, like Dolby Atmos mentioned above or Viper4Arise. Try turning it ON or OFF.
Asus dolby atmos
I used to have such stutters but that was because of some battery saving mods i had installed. So if you ahave any of those i suggest you uninstall them first
I've noticed that on the stock equalizer I'm unable to change the bass boost and surround slider since it's greyed out.
Is there a way to fix this?

Stock equalizer?... This is surely not stock right?... Your screenshot doesn't look stock...
It is, the equalizer on my pixel 2xl, unrooted.

The equaliser is in Play Music settings. I believe the bass boost and surround sound settings may only work when using external sound sources like headphones or Bluetooth speakers. Can't check at the moment as I don't have either with me.

Bass and Surround will only work if you connect a pair of headphones or speakers, either via USB C or Bluetooth.
You can't enable it on speaker mode
Thanks guys, figured that out. I've turned them off since they distort the sound on Android auto even though they are greyed out.

Just to cheekily add to this thread, the GPM equaliser is pretty naff as it is. It'll work for a few hours, and then you suddenly loose the bass boost, and changing settings in GPM has no effect until you reboot the device again. A problem that's been around for a while with no fix.
Which is why when I rooted my P2XL with Magisk, I installed the Viper4Android module. Far more effective than MusicFX.

Yes. This is very annoying. I've reported this multiple times through chat and as per usual with any broken stock function, they just suggest 3rd party apps on the Play Store.

Hi, can you send a link to dl it ? Thanks
No, I'm afraid I can't. Not because I don't want to, but because I didn't download Viper4Android that way. If you're rooted with Magisk, you can find it in the Downloads section of Magisk Manager. If you do install it, I also recommend installing Ainur Sauron, the Audio Compatibility Patch, and the Audio Modification Library. Those four modules combined should cover all your music.
Pixel XL on latest 8.1 with root via Magisk v16 and ElementalX Kernel. Viper4Android FX version 2.5.0.5. App processes Pandora music over speakers with no problem but it does not affect notifications or ringtones. I recently upgraded from 7.1.1 with SuperSU and Franco Kernel where it did process ringtones and notifications. Any ideas why this isn't working?
Thanks in advance
Edit: It's not working over bluetooth either. Only seems to work while playing Pandora on speaker.

Have you tried to set lock effect mode: <your active setup> under settings?
For example I only have headset configured but when I enable that option it applies that configuration for everything that makes audio in my phone.
Hi guys. Yesterday I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed Android Pie.
After hours fixing things like camera and audio not working during calls with speaker, all seems work well and fast.
Also Bluetooth finally works well with my car and doesn't suffer from poor audio quality of MIUI.
Great rom.
I have now discovered another problem.
WhatsApp video calls quality it's really poor. Video calls stutter and lag. With Messenger or Skype works well.
Anyone can help me? I have obviously installed magisk modules in order to make gcam work.
I have also tried to disable camera2Api but doesn't solve.
Thank you.

Hello guys...
Since I have this phone and connect my True Wireless Earbuds, I notice low volume and quality specialty in the bass. I know that those earbuds are very limited, but I tried using an Equalizer. Almost all the apps in the play store are useless because they lowered the volume instead of increasing it. So, after looking for a while on the web, I found an app called Wavelet with some free and paid features, it is very useful if you are not Root and try to improve a little bit the Bluetooth audio.
But still, I'm not happy, because I came from a Snapdragon chipset and used to use "snapdragon audio +" equalizer and the audio was really great.
I read that is possible to install viper4Android and Dolby Atmos and a while ago tried to install some of these options, but I just got a slow device and fast battery drain.
¿Do you know any other option, idea, thread, .apk, method which could help me to improve my experience with the Bluetooth audio in my RN8Pro?
Regards!
Just buy Poweramp Music Player if you plan on local music playback else Wavelet is the only way to go I guess.

I think you should try NRG player if you want to tune the audio over bluetooth.
