Issue with Viper4Android - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Pixel XL on latest 8.1 with root via Magisk v16 and ElementalX Kernel. Viper4Android FX version 2.5.0.5. App processes Pandora music over speakers with no problem but it does not affect notifications or ringtones. I recently upgraded from 7.1.1 with SuperSU and Franco Kernel where it did process ringtones and notifications. Any ideas why this isn't working?
Thanks in advance
Edit: It's not working over bluetooth either. Only seems to work while playing Pandora on speaker.

Have you tried to set lock effect mode: <your active setup> under settings?
For example I only have headset configured but when I enable that option it applies that configuration for everything that makes audio in my phone.

Using Dolby Atmos along with Google play music makes sound playback choppy/stutter

I have installed experience ROM on my OnePlus 3 and tried using Dolby Atmos. The sound quality improved drastically but the audio was choppy/stuttering on Google play music with the audio enhancement. The music is locally stored and works perfectly when atmos is switched off. Is there any way to make it stop stuttering as I would like to listen to my music with Atmos switched on? Any help would be appreciated.

I had the very same problem with FreedomOS+Dolby Atmos. I resolved this by increasing min cpu frequence from 307 MHz to 422MHz. I have ElementalX and used EX Kernel Manager.
I have tested by listening to the same song at 307 MHz and 422MHz. Stutters disappears at 422MHz.
Feel like i need to write this down, incase any else have similar issue.
Just upgraded to Freedom OS 2.3 (OOS 4.0.3?) And installed Viper4Arise.
Stumbled upon this very issue, but with any emulator instead (Gameboy, N64, etc).
So after reading this, i opened Viper4Arise and turned "Master Power" to ON, and bam! No more stutter, just like that.
I left everything else in that app to OFF but Master Power.
So anyone having stuttering issue with sound, check any audio enhancing app/mod you may have installed, like Dolby Atmos mentioned above or Viper4Arise. Try turning it ON or OFF.
Asus dolby atmos
I used to have such stutters but that was because of some battery saving mods i had installed. So if you ahave any of those i suggest you uninstall them first

Stock Equalizer issue

I've noticed that on the stock equalizer I'm unable to change the bass boost and surround slider since it's greyed out.
Is there a way to fix this?

Stock equalizer?... This is surely not stock right?... Your screenshot doesn't look stock...
It is, the equalizer on my pixel 2xl, unrooted.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
The equaliser is in Play Music settings. I believe the bass boost and surround sound settings may only work when using external sound sources like headphones or Bluetooth speakers. Can't check at the moment as I don't have either with me.

Bass and Surround will only work if you connect a pair of headphones or speakers, either via USB C or Bluetooth.
You can't enable it on speaker mode
Thanks guys, figured that out. I've turned them off since they distort the sound on Android auto even though they are greyed out.

Just to cheekily add to this thread, the GPM equaliser is pretty naff as it is. It'll work for a few hours, and then you suddenly loose the bass boost, and changing settings in GPM has no effect until you reboot the device again. A problem that's been around for a while with no fix.
Which is why when I rooted my P2XL with Magisk, I installed the Viper4Android module. Far more effective than MusicFX.

Yes. This is very annoying. I've reported this multiple times through chat and as per usual with any broken stock function, they just suggest 3rd party apps on the Play Store.

Hi, can you send a link to dl it ? Thanks
No, I'm afraid I can't. Not because I don't want to, but because I didn't download Viper4Android that way. If you're rooted with Magisk, you can find it in the Downloads section of Magisk Manager. If you do install it, I also recommend installing Ainur Sauron, the Audio Compatibility Patch, and the Audio Modification Library. Those four modules combined should cover all your music.

Audio Issues

So when playing audio through my speakers, any notification will basically kill the audio but it'll carry on playing. For example a Youtube video play continue playing but no audio will be coming out after I receive any notification. Is there anyway to fix this?

I don't have a fix, but I can confirm this just started happening with my Google Pixel 3 XL as well. I do have Viper installed though. I hadn't noticed this happening before today.
Any comments by anyone?
Thanks in advance.
Bumping as I also have this issue (June update, kirisakura kernel, viper)
Try uninstalling Viper or installing the audio modification library module in magisk.

Random Pausing?

Has anyone had any issues with music randomly bring paused? At first I thought it might be an issue with my earphones, but it also happens on my Bluetooth speaker. It happens on both Phonograph with local music and Spotify so I know it's not a stream getting interrupted. Running Stock Pie with latest security patch, Magisk 19.4, and latest ElementalX Kernel for TWRP. I also feel like at one point I had this same issue on my OG Pixel XL but can't remember what fixed it.

You can try switching off battery optimization for the music apps. This I had to do for BubbleUPNP, otherwise the app gets kicked out of the memory after a few minutes and hence stops playing...
I've had that problem but only while using bluetooth in my car. So it could be a problem with my car stereo or the phone, but it doesn't happen often. I am completely stock not rooted.

Android Q V4A not processing with bluetooth

When I use V4A (2.7.1 form XDA Labs) with USB it works fine (also in speaker mode), but when I switch to use it with bluetooth it's not processing. Audio format is supported and status is normal.
I tried the "fixes" that solves the issues with USB but non of them worked:
Disable and enable "Master limit" in V4A, than stop music and start.Force close V4A app, open it and start music.Tried to pay music with Poweramp instead of YouTube but still nothing.
I also had this issue with the Beta 6 and now with the official release.
So does anyone know why it's not processing and how can I make it work?
Mines working.
Do you have the audio modification library in magisk, and is it enabled? If it is, disable it and reboot.
