Disclaimer: SlickWraps sent me these skins to review for the HTC 10
SlickWraps (SW): slickwraps.com
One of the best parts of owning a phone is customization; whether it’s a case, color or vinyl skin or wrap. I tend to enjoy a combination of both a nice wrap, and a case depending on the day, and where I intend on using my phone.
SlickWraps is one of many companies that makes wraps for phones, but they have a few things that make them stand out from the crowd. First, SlickWraps has a ‘goof’ policy which covers any issues you have during installation. For example, if you didn’t install the wrap well, or it had an issue they will replace it free of charge for you. Secondly, SlickWraps has an active presence here on XDA giving them better customer service than you will find with some other companies. I used to be a big fan of another company that I will not mention here, but their shipping was awful, customer service went south in a hurry, and more often than not things would be missing/not the right product in my order. It’s the little things that matter which is why I buy from SlickWraps and review their wraps. I believe that their company has come a long way, and really made a big change. Not only do they provide an excellent wrap, but they back it up with unparalleled support.
I appreciate the rather large variety of choices as well that are offered for most if not all flagship devices. SlickWraps (SW) partnered with several companies to offer their Hero, Galactic, Villain, and other special series. There are also glow wraps, and my personal favorite the natural series.
I haven’t seen any other company aside from one offer real wood, and none really offer leather let alone Horween leather. The natural series provides you with real wood, leather, or cork to give your phone not only a unique look, but a nice feel as well.
Note: The words skin and wrap will be used interchangeably
I’m going to review 2 different wraps for my HTC 10 from some of their different series.
Overall Fit:
I was pleasant surprised to see how SlickWraps made their HTC 10 wraps. The fit is great, although I would ensure you take your time installing them, otherwise there could be alignment issues. I was patient installing mine, yet even then I made a few small mistakes. Now, making a mistake installing the wraps isn’t the end of the world. If you misalign the wrap, you could always carefully pull it off any try again; in a more severe scenario where you damage the wrap during installation SlickWraps will replace it under their goof policy.
Back/Sides:
Due to the unique nature of the HTC 10, and its gigantic chamfered edge, the warps were cut in a way to embrace its design. I did find it a little difficult to align the volume/power button thin strip while installing the wrap, but I think most of this was my fault, and not the way it was cut. Given how close the buttons are to the edge of the frame, it can be difficult to design around that, but I think SW did a good job with their wrap. Rather than have a side wrap like other phones in the past, the back piece is a 1-piece solution to the phones middle section. Lastly, there are letters cutout to cover the HTC logo on the back if you choose to use them.
Top/Bottom:
Both top and bottom wraps do their best to cover as much of the phone as possible. On the top the warp is 1-piece, and the bottom is separated into 2 pieces. From what I can tell this was done to account for the number of cutouts required (speaker, microphone, and USB Type-C port), thus making it easier for everyone with its 2-piece design.
Front:
There are a variety of different options for the front of the phone that are included with the wrap. The first style is a conventional single piece wrap that has a border going along the sides of the display. It features cutouts for all of the sensors on the top, and buttons at the bottom. I didn’t find any issues using the fingerprint scanner with the wrap (they do include a wrap for the FP scanner if you don’t want to use the sensor). The second set includes a few combinations for the phone; the first one has just a top wrap, and a bottom one with all of the appropriate cutouts (including the bottoms), while the second bottom piece has only a cutout for the FP scanner. Some people might prefer one set up or another, so it is nice to have the option there if you choose to use it.
Leather Series:
The first wrap I was sent comes from SlickWraps leather series. This particular one is brown (although it is a very deep brown), which compliments my silver HTC 10 nicely. It looks as good as it feels which might not be as good as real leather, but it provides a nice texture and depth to the phone. If you plan one just using a wrap, this one will do a good job at giving you more grip compared to the slippery aluminum back of the HTC 10.
Wood Series:
If you enjoy the look of wood, then this is the wrap for you. The Teak styled wrap has a lighter color than some of the other wood series allowing it to blend nicely with either of the two colors HTC has released so far. I’ve always found the wood series to have a better feel (and look if you prefer wood) than most of the other wraps offered. Carbon Fiber is usually the first choice for most people, but the wood one feels nicer in your hand if you don’t plan on using a case.

The Draco S3 is a PREMIUM aluminum case offered by DRACOdesign, made of aircraft grade A6061 aluminum. The fit and finish
is far superior to all the other metal bumpers I have owned. It has very solid lock up. The Flare Red finish is flawless, unlike its
competitor's cases which included several imperfections and markings.
Thank You DRACOdesign - http://dracodesigninc.com/
Larger pictures can be found here. - http://chrismchoi.blogspot.com/2012/08/dracodesign-s3.html
The packaging alone is very nice. It looks clean and modern. I was impressed when receiving this in the mail. I felt bad for
having to open up the box.
Upon removing the case from its packaging I checked over the contents. I found what they called a Strap Cable. It's a
convenient wrist strap that works as a micro-USB cable. You can connect it to the strap loop opening on the bottom right
of the case.
When picking up the case, I notice a nice heft. It's not heavy. It's a comfortable weight and feels like a quality build. I was
glad to find that the volume rocker and power button were made of aluminum as well. The case fit very well in my hand. It did
not have the boxy feeling of other metal bumpers.
Unlike other metal bumpers, I am able to lay this down and not worry about the camera. It's very flush, it seems to keep the
camera off the surface. The opening ports are a good size. They are large enough to fit the OEM Samsung Data Cable. As
I've complimented the finish of this case, the edges are rounded off. DRACOdesign really paid attention to the small details.
I have to say I am thoroughly impressed and I rate this case highly on my list. The minimalistic design and elegant looks
have won me over.
MSRP: $89.99 and is available at DRACOdesign S3 Aluminum Bumper in 7 different colors.
It is worth the price and from past experiences I've learned to do it right the first time or buy multiple cases until you find
the one you want. I am glad the right case came along early in the game this time.
Alright Guys!
Here is the code for 30% off! It's only good on the Draco S3 Series and it's valid until 10/31/12. Snatch them up NOW!
Brings them down to $62.99. I'd rather feel comfortable from ordering direct to avoid all those counterfeits that could start flooding the market.
Don't forget to hit thanks!

Thanks everyone!

Thanks. Sorry I made them so big. I don't have Photoshop anymore and it was too much of a hassle to install it again.
Edit - I used the thumbnails pics and have the bigger pics on my blog.
Do you think this case could handle a 5 or 6 foot drop? I would love to see a drop test video.

Great Review :good:. Do you think it would still fit with custom backplates (metal insert one)? Do you think the metal backplate with the addition of the metal bumper would totally kill signal?

As long as it's the same size of the factory one. There may be a little bit of room. Also I have heard / read that aluminum back and bumper would drop reception. But if you're in a tower rich area you'd be fine.
Draco sent me one for review as well. I really don't like it. I'll probably just post a link to my blog later. Aside from looks, it's okay with look, feel, and protection, but other than looks, it doesn't do the very well with the rest.
how does it affect the signal?

Most aluminum bumpers do slightly affect signal. It's just the way it works.

I would love to try one of these, but to be honest, my main reason for getting a case with just about ANY phone is to make it less slippery. Don't see this case doing that in the least.... and not really keen on the idea of buying a $90 case.
So the "thunder" colors have the brush finish?

It helps with grip for me. The battery cover was where I would lose grip. Now that my hands close around the bumper, it doesn't slide out like without a case.

I ordered this case also. I already have the Griffin reveal now so I'm not sure how this case will compare.
Can anyone clarify if the back of this case is ridged? specifically where the back middle transitions to that alternate black color before it turns into the bezel. I have a feeling that it's just a glossy border, but the pictures don't dhow enough detail to tell.

Just got my cases in finally, after 3 weeks. Much better quality than I was expecting, and definitely cool looking. A couple complaints though. One is that it's a major PITA to put on and take off. I hate feeling like I'm going to break my phone every time I take the case off (I'm looking at you, Poetic Atmosphere!). My other complaint, and this is a big one, is that it has some seriously wicked edges that make the phone a pretty uncomfortable to hold. For a phone that feels so nice in the hand, it's a shame to have a case on it that essentially kills that comfort altogether. I also have the Griffin Reveal which is a very similar design- not as cool looking as the Supcase but much more comfortable to hold. It's edges are a lot smoother and the material around the sides of the phone is a lot softer. The reveal is *almost* just as comfortable to hold as the naked phone, as it follows the contours of the phone very closely. The Supcase on the other hand focuses more on styling at the cost of those comfortable contours. If you want a case like this, ie. soft bumper around edges but clear plastic back, I'd recommend the Reveal over the Supcase. My $.02.
Edit: The Supcase has the dimple whereas the Reveal does not. I know somebody is bound to ask that question.

Yep, that's how they shipped it to me. I'm pretty sure it ships out of Memphis, Tenn. DHL handles the interstate travels and then transfers it to USPS for the final delivery. No clue why they use DHL, they must have a contract/agreement with them. Some of the colors are available through Prime from the same seller so it pretty much has to be within the US.
I got the Supcase. It took a while to get but it's a nice case. I mostly use it for work since it's so sturdy. I also like the Griffen Reveal better, it fits well and is not as bulky. The Reveal has a completly clear back were as this Supcase is kind of a cloudy back.
Does anyone know if where the clear plastic meets the glossy is flat? If somebody had a picture at a good angle would be awesome!

These seem nice as well but I've never tried any skins apart from dbrand. Primarily this has been because postage is $11.49 to my country. However, having used dbrand and read about them/seen them on my friends devices, I don't think I'm missing out. These may be a couple of dollars cheaper but the dbrand skins are definitely very precise/high quality.

dbrands marketing is a little misleading, their whole process is over-exaggerated as far as creating a skin goes as well as their "quality".

Not to disrespect dbrand (I actually had one of their skins for my Nexus 4 and it was great), but you are right. It's quite bizarre to see everyone go crazy over dbrand. I find the whole "bot" creative process quite silly..and yes, it's uniqueness is also quite exaggerated when you see that it looks identical to the skin you've mentioned.
That said, it's still an excellent brand as far as quality goes and I also like their low cost international shipping.

I know how the process works. You measure the skin, make adjustments, and repeat until you get a nice fit. Per dbrand, they remeasure and cut their skins 1000 times when creating a skin. If this is true then they need to hire a new designer as this process takes only a few hours.
Also, 3M vinyl is available to anyone not just dbrand

It's quite apparent that they use marketing as their X-factor when differentiating their brand, but yea, most screen protectors and cheaper cases are usually sourced from the same factories unless they're a huge company and can afford to do their own R&D.

Really? A few hours? Perhaps you need to try a little harder. I've been there for those 50 hour binges where our "designers" go through (over) one thousand revisions to achieve a flawless fit.

Yes they have great marketing and some may see it as silly/overhyped etc. Some find it hilarious and it creates brand loyalty etc. They clearly make a lot of money as well. Anyway, all that aside...taking emotion and all that away and looking at the product itself. All I know is that the skins they make are bl00dy good. I've had my Nexus 4 skin on for more than 6 months. As an honest consumer here, I'll admit that the e peeled off a bit but the skin itself is as good today as it was the minute I received it. I have had my phone in sports bags etc and am a heavy user. So if I'm looking at the product for what it is, it's great quality. Of course nobody is saying that everyone must purchase dbrand. There are choices. Each to their own but I don't think it's fair to question their processes and things that we know nothing about (factually).
I'm not a dbrand employee or anything so not going to get into the other aspects. Just trying to help consumers from a purely product pov.
nexus 4 application video, looks pretty good I wanna try it but I also have a dbrand white CF on preorder

Not a fan of the front or the sides but the back...holy smokes that's beautiful. Reminds me of the wood back Moto X

Umm if I remember correctly from my samsung galaxy nexus days, pmoradi works for Xgear so I doubt they have to buy anything from XGear.
What I will say is that I don't understand questioning a products quality without ever testing it for yourself. I can confirm one thing though, 3m material is definitely not exclusive to dbrand nor has dbrand ever claimed as such (other than the Ferrari red carbon fiber). Thus it is completely conceivable that another company would also use 3M material negating any advantage in material other than color choice. So the only remaining value is in the quality of cut and price. Whose to say one is better than the other without comparing both products in hand.
I suspect dbrand would certainly encourage this considering that precision is their largest selling point. Also wanted to say that I find it incredibly impressive that during the fitting process for dbrand that the measuring bots can cut, measure and make adjustments for each "practice" skin every 3 minutes continuous for over 50 hours. That is efficiency and/or crazy amounts of manpower. :good:
Personally I like the color choices from xgear better (the blue brushed steel looks awesome in person in my opinion) but I like the three piece design of dbrand because I really only like the back piece and the xgear is a one piece design for back and side.

A while back I bought a Diztronic case from @OneStepAhead. This case quickly became my favorite case. The case can be found here:
Diztronic TPU Case- Notification List
The look and fit is perfect, and it provides some of the best protection that can be found right now. The only thing that I was missing was the textured sandstone back that I love so much on the Oneplus. I wanted this texture not only for the look and feel but for the grip. The case tends to slide out of my hands easily. I also own the Pelosi sandstone case, but I feel the Diztronic provides better coverage. While browsing the forums, I found the Stickerboy thread here:
Sticker Boy Skin Review
I decided to try to apply a stickerboy skin to the back of my Diztronic found here:
https://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=104_105&products_id=396
I bought the matte black found here:
http://www.stickerboy.net/collectio...s/black-matte-antibacterial-oneplus-one-skins
*Note: I bought the Type 2 back panel only.
Other skin sources:
http://www.cruzerlite.com/skins/oneplus-one
https://dbrand.com/shop/oneplus-one
Here are the results:
Pros:
- Fit is almost perfect. The rear camera/mic/headphone jack cutouts are just slightly off. Edit: Fixed with hairdryer
- Definitely improves grip. Edit: After using it for a day, I feel that I need something "grippier"
- Adheres well.
- Looks great, I love having the 1+ on the back.
- Feels like a little added protection.
Cons:
- There is a slight ridge around the edge of the sticker that you can feel with your fingers.
- The rear camera, mic port, and the headphone jack all have slight overlaps where the small portions of the back part of the sticker are exposed.(See pics). Edit: fixed with hairdryer.
- I get a bit of lint on the edge of the skin. Wipes off easily.
- Texture is not sandstone grit like the back of the OPO. It feels more like a textured vinyl.
- Need more grip.
Tip:
-Use a hair dryer to form the skin around the camera/mic openings. Credits @rodger-sp
rodger-sp said:
After I installed the Skin I used a hair dryer to heat the skin so I could bend it around the camera opening.
For the mic. opining after heating the skin I used a very small pair of tweezers with a sharp point to increase the mic. opining. I inserted the tweezers slowly wile twisting them.

Summary:
The jury is still out on how well this will work and stand up to every day use. I just applied the skin yesterday so we shall see. Overall I am very happy with how the project turned out. I am going to use a red paint pen to accent the 1+ logo on the back. In retrospect I would have considered a different colored skin to accomplish that. I may purchase another Diztronic/Stickerboy combo to get a little variety.

Thanks OP. Been thinking about doing something like this. Or even scuffing the back to get some sort of grip.
This is a great write-up/project. Looks like it came out quite well, good pics too! I'll be doing this as well in the next week or so. I may also pickup one or two more diztronic cases for some color variety as well. Thank you for posting this Condor97.

After using the case/mod for a day, I feel the need for something "grippier". I updated the OP to reflect this. Does anyone have any experience with the Cruzerlite skin? How does it feel?
Here is how I did the Stickerboy / Diztronic mod.
I am using the Charcoal Gold Scratch Type 2 back with the black Diztronic TPU case.
After I installed the Skin I used a hair dryer to heat the skin so I could bend it around the camera opening.
For the mic. opining after heating the skin I used a very small pair of tweezers with a sharp point to increase the mic. opining. I inserted the tweezers slowly wile twisting them. You can see the results in the second photo.

I've applied a concrete skin from Gadgetshieldz. The skin feels so hard in hand and obviously feels super grippy. the texture of the skin is hard as the concrete. Take a look at my Galaxy S10+.

Yes it does feel like concrete in hand and smooth at the same time.
Thanks a lot! How are the edges and buttons made? Would you mind sharing pictures of that as well?

The headphone jack and speaker and the side button have cutouts, No issues with cutouts. You need some patience in order to apply the skin. If you done this you're good to go.

Thanks for the Info, Will try the skin for my S10+.
I got a red carbon fiber skin from Phantomskinz that I really like. It's got a nice texture of carbon fiber. It came with a skin to go over the glass around the camera, but there was an issue with the wide angle hole not being wide enough, so you could get glare from the skin in pictures. I emailed them about it with pictures showing it was correctly installed and showing the glare, and now waiting on a replacement skin to arrive later this week. Besides the wide angle camera though, it's been really good and even fits inside my UAG Monarch case I use at work.

Quality wise, it feels really good to me. I've never had a skin on a phone before, so I don't have much to compare it to. The material its made of feels sufficiently thick enough to protect against any scratches to the back or sides of your device (the skin wraps around all 4 edges, and even has a little piece to go over your SIM card tray so you can still remove the tray). My replacement one with the modified wide angle cutout should arrive tomorrow (4/11/19) according to USPS's tracking, so I'll post back tomorrow on how well their new camera hole size works. Customer Service wise, I'd definitely give them 5 stars, seeing as I emailed them a complaint about their design and within 24 hours they had fixed it and shipped out the redesigned version and even replaced the screen protector since I had ordered "case-friendly" and then found out my case doesn't require "case-friendly" screen protectors. In my experience these days, that quick of customer service and turnaround time is damn near unheard of.
Also of note, their film screen protectors do not have cutouts for the front cameras, and from my testing between my phone and my wife's S10+ with the stock screen protector still on, I see no difference in the quality of pictures. They say on their site though that if you wish to have a cutout for the front cameras, add a comment to your order and they will ship you a screen protector that has a cutout in it.
EDIT: I'll take a picture of the skin tomorrow with my wife's phone. At work for the night and can't take a picture of my phone from my own phone, lol. xD
While I know this won't be everyone's cup of tea but here's a skin I ordered from SopiGuard. Best part is I ordered on Monday and it was delivered today/Thursday, 3 days!

Apparently USPS just really hates me this week. I have 3 packages from 3 different parts of the country that shipped on 3 different days, all of which seem to have disappeared after they left the city they shipped from. Oldest one was shipped on March 21st and should have arrived 3 days later according to initial USPS tracking, and yet it still hasn't arrived. Says "in transit, arriving late" :crying:
Hopefully the skin will arrive next week. Not the seller's fault, something horrible going on with USPS I guess.
