Hi guys,
At first, when I bought Galaxy Nexus, it was on 4.0.2. I cannot access settings through the notification panel when using slide lock unless I slide open and I will see the settings menu.
However, now when I patch to 4.0.4, I did not try out did the patch changes the ui. Now, I can access settings through the notification panel without even slide open.
Is this normal? Does anyone experiencing this? Please advise.
Thanks.
Being able to slide down the notification bar and enter settings without unlocking is normal. Unless of course you have a PIN or pattern enabled, then you can't do anything without first entering the PIN or pattern.

Thanks. But at first, when I bought the phone, I can drag down the notification bar, but I cannot access settings straight without sliding to unlock. However, now, I can access settings straight, when I click the settings shortcut, I can hear the unlock sound and den straight to settings. Please advise.
I know that when there is no secure lock screen (pattern, pin etc), the notification bar can be pulled down.
Is it possible to access the notification bar when the lock screen is secured with pattern on CM10?
I tried it the cna rom and you can't pull it down when you have a pattern lock screen, it'll probably be the same on cm10, otherwise you could pull it down and access the settings menu and that would be quite the security snafu.
It's this way on purpose. How would a lock screen be at all useful if you could bypass it by pulling down the notification bar?

Understandable but what about this: I've got an HTC One S with no hard camera or search button. My sms app allows quick create popups on the locscreen via:
-long press of camera button
-long press of search button
-icon on lockscreen
Since the first 2 are of no use to me, I can only use the 3rd option....but I can't since due to job email security, I must enable a passcode.
Is there a way to get around this? I know how much the iOS vs Android thing irritates ppl but I was able to do this with iRealSMS (iOS) and miss it dearly. If a pass code was enabled, you could still send SMS but if you actually tried to get into the app, you were presented with the pass code screen.
Android 10, screen locked, but can still toggle wifi, bluetooth and hotspot using the drop down quick setting menu. Only location seems to require an unlock. This can't be secure. Anyway to lock it down besides removing the sensitive shortcuts from the menu?
This is annoying because it toggles my Do Not Disturb sometimes while in my pocket.
So I got the Android 10 update this morning. I'm on an unlocked Sprint Note 10+ however, after the update the phone recognized that I had an ATT sim installed and asked me to restart the phone right after it booted up from the Android 10 update. To my surprise, after it booted up now I have the dreaded AT&T next to the time on my status bar. Is there any way to remove it?
Hide carrier name though Developer options
There is one way but you will have Developer options enabled, so from the Developer Options scroll down till you find Demo Mode click on it and then click on enable Demo mode, and then click on show demo mode to turn it on and click on show Demo mode again to turn it off, and then you won't see the carrier name next to the time anymore
(Please note that doing this will hide your notifications in the status bar, you will only see your notifications when you pull down from the status bar on of the top of the phone.)
Hi all,
Hope you are fine. I am using Mi Note 10 Lite and MIUI 12.02 Global ROM. I can access/enable/disable all things (WIFI, Mobile Data, etc.) on Notification Bar when phone locked. My opinion is this is a vulnerability for me. Is there any way to prevent this?
Any help appreciated.
Kind Regards.
Settings -> notification -> lock screen notification -> disable the "Open notification shade on lock screen"
Well, if you swipe to the right while on lock screen (to the camera), you can still access the Notification bar. So for instance, if you lose your phone, anyone can still disable wifi and gps in case you access the "find my phone" option on the PC.

I believe that disabling the status bar on the lock screen is not a security feature, but rather to prevent accidental modification of some settings (in a pocket for example). If someone steals your phone, they can just as well turn it off, remove the SIM card or perform a factory reset, they do not really need to use the status bar at all..
