HTC Boom Sound Notification on Status Bar - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to shut off HTC Boom sound notification on status bar? It is quite annoying to see it on status bar 100 times a day. Sometimes it just blinks for no reason.
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app

It only Shows when something is playing.
So some Kind of App is responsible.
AFAIK you can't get rid of it now without root.

I wonder if you can use the disable notification feature built in to marshmallow if you can work out which app it is?
Might just be the settings app.
I don't have mine yet to try it out, but on my current Z3+ I can disable notifications generated by the main settings app.

I've read about this and it'll probably annoy me. I like a tidy status bar. The little keyboard option selector on my G4 that pops up when I'm using my keyboard annoys me, too.

you can disable keyboard selector

On HTC 10?
I'm fairly certain the only way to get rid of it on G4 is to delete/disable all keyboards except one. I use SwiftKey and cannot disable LG Keyboard so I'm stuck with it on this device.

Don't you've something like this:
Settings -> Language & Input -> Selector Icon (ON/OFF)

Did you try long pressing the notification choosing settings and unticking notifications?

I do not have the Selector Icon setting and there is no option to untick it in settings. I have an AT&T version, if that matters.

The Boomsound icon will appear if ANY app is running that autoplays video/audio, including Blinkfeed; News Republic; Facebook, etc. The best way to prevent it from appearing under such circumstances, is to unselect autoplay video in every app.

The reason it's popping up randomly is because of silent videos, like ads on mute, facebook videos on mute, etc.
As for disabling the notification, you might be able to accomplish that with sense toolbox (xposed) but you'd need root.

Ads on mute such as in Instagram causes the notification. It is just not necessary. Hopefully there is a "fix".

This is one of the most annoying things about this phone, together with the fact we can't pick and choose the quick settings in the notification bar. I hope that they will fix... Besides that, so far so good, great phone..

Someone else who understands the pain of not being able to edit quick settings! Lol it drives me crazy. I also can't believe they wouldn't include a sync option. I always turn that off overnight.

You can actually activate control over the existing toggles for the quicksettings; however, you will not have access to more toggles. Just open the quicksettings, then press and hold on the Settings button until it asks you to activate SystemUI Tuner. For more toggles you'll have to install a custom ROM (e.g., Viper10, LeeDroid, etc.).

Perhaps a custom rom like Leedroid or Viper can help

I've had the phone for a month now and it just started doing this yesterday. I've always had blinkfeed going and it never did it before. I don't have FB or instagram on the phone. I've cleared all recent apps and it still does it, all night long too. It does it every time I turn the phone on from sleep. It's really annoying, anyone figure out why yet?

OK so I noticed that it seems to only do it when " location services" is on

Got Desire want to "polish" it

Yep finally happened, got mine Desire, I bought it first day when it came to my country
For now I love it, speed is decent and generally it is amazing device but, I found some minor "problems" that I want to "fix"
So first thing that I really want to fox is weather problem, if I disable to Desire so that it doesnt gather location info from WiFi or GPS I cannot see weather info for any city on my homescreen, can I set my location manually so that I can see weather info on my Clock homescreen widget?
Next thing is battery, whenever I plug in my Desire to PC/laptop it is starting to charge, can I somehow stop it(like in WinMo I have an option for it)?
Thirdly problem is mail, I can read them I can sync and all that but on my PC after I read e-mail on my Desire it still says that mail is unread, also when I delete e-mail on my Desire it is still on server when I look on my PC
Another problem is in market, I don't see any paid apps(I only see free apps) and there is no option to sort by best rated/most popular?
Last I want to is to disable stupid haptic feedback on a phone dialer, it annoys me and it uses battery too, any idea how to disable it, I have disabled it in keyboard settings but phone dialer still vibrates on touch.
If you know solution to any of these problems please let me know
Market will display paid apps only to visitors from certain countries.
Country is determined by your SIM card.
If you want to purchase apps, you can insert e.g. UK SIM card and surf the Market via WIFI.
i think the heptic feedback in the dialer currently cannot be switched off, i have already made a topic about it, searched everywhere in the phone and nothing
when adding the weather/clock widget you can specify the city, its the last step. set mail up to delete mail after downloading... open mail app - menu - settings - send and receive - select delete from server

Tnx for all answers
Bump plus one more request, is there any 1x1 widget that can simply turn brigtness to auto or off(0%)?
check your battery drain via the following steps. create a contact call battery info with phone number *#*#4636#*#*. call it then hang up straight away. go to phone and long press on the number in history.
select edit before call, you can view loads of in-depth detail about the battery from there.

Some apps spam you with notification ads. Just go through any free apps you've downloaded recently and delete them.
You can also try this to figure out the problem app:

Did you delete any free apps you've downloaded since the problem first started?
Crazy Grandpa is made by Crazy Game, and their other app is Bubble Shooter.
Bubble Defence is made by ICLOUDZONE INC, who make Death Moto, Speed Night and Pool Master.
Any of those sound familar?
I had this problem before - in my case it was a battery icon.
Here is how I figured out what it was:
I believe you need a rooted phone.
1) download and run a terminal monitor program (I use 'terminal monitor')
within terminal monitor do:
2) su (this makes you root)
3) dumpsys notification (this shows you all packages showing notifications).
Assume a package is called com.take.that.hah
you can find the program name by going to:
h
ttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.take.that.hah
Go through and start uninstalling programs till you find the correct one.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you simply click and hold the notification until the app info box appears just under your finger. Then click the box and it'll show you the app that sent the notification within the application manager. From here you can disable notifications from this app (to keep the app) or uninstall.

You are correct but i need to elaborate:
You can't click the icon in the notification bar.
What you can click and hold is the notification bar in the notification area. i.e. when you expand the notification bar.
I see now that my case was a special case - a notification icon (a battery meter) that had no bar in the notification drop down bar.
This also happens when you run a program and it has an icon to prevent the program getting killed. (tasker does this, for example)

Pop Up Message Notification Lockscreen

Hi, I have switched from IPhone to HTC one M8 and finding it ok, but miss a few little things from the iPhone. When the M8 is on standby so black screen, if I get a message all I get is green led flashing to notify me. I would rather the message pop up on the screen same as the iPhone does. Can it be done in the settings is reads like it can, but in reality it doesn't. Unless I'm doing something wrong. I am wondering if also if the samsung S5 rom can be installed on the m8 if I was to root it? As I understand the pop up happens on the samsung. Any help greatly appreciated.

I guess what he means is that all notifications are shown there. But on the stock HTC lockscreen only the HTC apps notifications can be shown, as long as he is usin a stock ROM and not a custom ROM such as ViperOne (as this ROM can show notfications of user defined apps on the HTC lockscreen notification area).
If you want to stay on stock ROM just search the PlayStore there are multiple alternatives to the stock HTC lockscreen which can do what you want and can be installed using PlayStore.

My company uses iPhones as business phones. So as I'm using an iPhone S4 with iOs on it for business and am quite sure that they included it into their lockscreen as a list and not as simple popup.
I have to confess it's the only feature I realy like on iOs. As I like the stock HTC lockscreen I decided against the use of a third-party app from Google Play.

That's a damn good attitude to have. Don't need other people to be abled to spy on your messages this easy.
You could always use a third party sms application like evolve sms? It has a built in popup that unlocks the screen and bypasses the lock screen. This is what I use and absolutely love it!

[Q] How to disable camera shutter sound

In the past I have either had rooted phone or I have used tasker to silence my camera. Then I got my G4 and I cannot get the stock camera to go silent using tasker. It wont activate the profile when using normal app setting in the profile app selection menu. When I use apps and services from the same menu it works but keeps the profile active all the time. When using the same profile on Google camera it works like it should. What am I missing or doing wrong?

Yeah but that works but I normally use Tasker to automate it. But somehow Tasker wont activate the correct profile when stock camera app is opened. Google cam app works fine and activates the profile that makes the phone go silent but stock one wont activate the profile at all if I do not check services as well as apps from tasker and then it wont go back to normal after closing the camera.
Gotcha. Hmm. That's the only way I've ever done it without root or custom ROM.
I dont know has LG done something to the stock app so it wont be recognised correctly by Tasker or what is the reason it wont work as usual.
Only way that I got it to work even partly is making a Tasker task that silences the phone, opens the camera app and then waits for a minute or something similar and then resets the sounds to normal. Not optimal but works at least for now. And I dont remember if Iyou can make a task variable that waits until I close the camera app and then resets the sound settings. If that worked it would work almost as good. Only problem is that when launching from camera shortcut it wont silence the camera.
my phone is On vibrate mode and the camera also no shuttering sound
I have tried everything from vibration and also setting for no interruption still there is shutter sound any solution? Thanks.

Anyone with a working solution until root? I would have thought this would have morre interest in users.
I just found out that it isn't the Ringer sound that matters, it's actually the Notification sound. Found out using the Volume Control + app (or any app that can separate the Notification sound from the Ringer).
Maybe you could do a Tasker action for the Notification sound..?
W.Z.
Won't help as Tasker does not recognize when camera app is open

Okay, maybe a on/off-switch for the Notification sound then? You'd have to push two buttons, but better than nothing....

Agree, nobody seems to have mentioned it in the photo thread so apparently there are workarounds for some variants.
I would not feel comfortable with the camera sound at all. its the first thing i switch off. And usually (with other devices) there is a simple setting to do that.
I just use my Tasker shortcut with timed silence and it works ok but does not work with any of the LG's own camera shortcuts.

Is it not possible to find the sound file and rename/delete it?
Or is that where one would need root?

How do I get my notifications like this:

Here's what I want:
Phone gives no sounds or vibrations unless my FAVORITES call me. When they call me the phone VIBRATES only. No sound.
For all other notifications (texts, 3rd party notifications, emails, etc...) I want the LED to pulse. But the phone won't make a sound or vibrate. Then when I wake my screen, I see the notifications on my screen.
Right now I have it on priority only with CALLS from favorites only coming through. Volume all the way off and set to vibrate only. The LED pulses when I get texts, emails, etc. but I do not see the notifications on the lockscreen when I wake the phone. I did for awhile and I must have changed some setting because now they are not there. So I'll see the pulse, then I have to unlock it and the status bar shows the notification symbol for text, email etc..
Any help?

"Phone gives no sounds or vibrations unless my FAVORITES call me."
"Right now I have it on priority only with CALLS from favorites only coming through."

I still don't know how to get the notifications to show on the lock screen though when it's set to that priority. They were showing up previously but I messed with settings and something went awry.

If you go to your Interruptions setting, you can choose which notifications to display. Or long press the icon in your notification tray.

Might you have possibly set it to "sensitive"? That doesn't seem like the behavior you're looking for, though, unless I'm misunderstanding you, Gzan23.

Yeah for Verizon I can't edit what apps are allowed in priority/nothing went to work late because of it too!

Hmmm weird. Whenever I try to edit what notifications/sounds comes in I get nowhere. Where did you go to get those options?

I thought this was standard Lollipop procedure, but maybe I'm remembering things differently. It's under Sound & Notification; Notifications; Apps; and you pick the app you want to modify.
