Yep finally happened, got mine Desire, I bought it first day when it came to my country
For now I love it, speed is decent and generally it is amazing device but, I found some minor "problems" that I want to "fix"
So first thing that I really want to fox is weather problem, if I disable to Desire so that it doesnt gather location info from WiFi or GPS I cannot see weather info for any city on my homescreen, can I set my location manually so that I can see weather info on my Clock homescreen widget?
Next thing is battery, whenever I plug in my Desire to PC/laptop it is starting to charge, can I somehow stop it(like in WinMo I have an option for it)?
Thirdly problem is mail, I can read them I can sync and all that but on my PC after I read e-mail on my Desire it still says that mail is unread, also when I delete e-mail on my Desire it is still on server when I look on my PC
Another problem is in market, I don't see any paid apps(I only see free apps) and there is no option to sort by best rated/most popular?
Last I want to is to disable stupid haptic feedback on a phone dialer, it annoys me and it uses battery too, any idea how to disable it, I have disabled it in keyboard settings but phone dialer still vibrates on touch.
If you know solution to any of these problems please let me know
Market will display paid apps only to visitors from certain countries.
Country is determined by your SIM card.
If you want to purchase apps, you can insert e.g. UK SIM card and surf the Market via WIFI.
i think the heptic feedback in the dialer currently cannot be switched off, i have already made a topic about it, searched everywhere in the phone and nothing
when adding the weather/clock widget you can specify the city, its the last step. set mail up to delete mail after downloading... open mail app - menu - settings - send and receive - select delete from server

Is it possible to remove in "all programs" some icons, or even better uninstall some apps, like GTalk, Teeter, QucikOffice(I have Docs To Go)....

And app that will track my battery leak, so that I can see battery draining in graph
Tnx for all answers
Bump plus one more request, is there any 1x1 widget that can simply turn brigtness to auto or off(0%)?
check your battery drain via the following steps. create a contact call battery info with phone number *#*#4636#*#*. call it then hang up straight away. go to phone and long press on the number in history.
select edit before call, you can view loads of in-depth detail about the battery from there.

EDIT: it seems that this is a bug, nobody can autoupdate rss news
Sry for an old bump one thing is really bothering me.
When I have my profile on Normal, I decided not to have vibrate on incoming calls and SMS/E-mail, but when I set to vibrate I want vibrate on all of them, BUT it only vibrates on incoming call, on any other notification no vibrate only LED is flashing, and how the hell I can know when I received e-mail/sms?
Any idea how to fix it?

Some of us HTC One X owners have noticed that the phone asks again for a PIN SIM code when you are in a bad-coverage area for a certain amount of time... if you don't notice it, you risk to miss calls or messages since you are out of the network. I'm learning to develop android apps and so I wanted to build my first useful (I hope) app for me and for the ones that have noticed this issue of the One X.
SIM Locked Notifier enables you to activate a ringtone or vibration (or both) when PIN/PUK is required. In this way you avoid missing calls or messages when your phone is out of the network, waiting for a PIN.
Get SIM Locked Notifier on Google Play!
I hope you find it useful, yesterday it warned me two times about this PIN issue (I'm happy because my app works, but I'm worried about this issue... hope they solve it soon).
The app is not heavy, it does nothing until the SIM State changed broadcast event is fired and the state is PIN/PUK required.
REMEMBER: run the app at least once after installation to enable the SIM Locked Notifier monitor. You must do this only once after installation, then it works even after a reboot.
Should this be the reason for me to get a lot of these messages? The content is my Operator name, my area name and my area code.

They appear a lot, and they come as a SMS from a number 50. The thing is, the interrupt anything that is running (pauses) and stand in front of everything, just like old iPhone messages. So they are different from my normal SMS, that just leaves a notification in the status bar.
If this is it, I'm gonna be so glad that now I know the reason...
P.S: My SIM is not PIN locked, so this may be the reason I see those messages.
Greetings, Santroph.
I too have been having this problem on random occasions and have missed calls/sms's etc that were important.
This app appears to be working perfectly +1 for this and thank you for all your work.

A little bump for visibility
I hope someone else will find it useful, yesterday it "saved" me twice from being out-of-network.. HTC must solve this issue in the radio code (I think the problem is there..).
Just updated to the new firnware, which has new radio fw.. maybe the issue is solved now.. I think my app will have very very few downloads, btw it has been a good test project to learn a bit about android

good app
im on 1.29.401.11 and the issue is still there
any chance this app could also notify when theres no signal on the phone?
where theres an X by the signal meter?
reason i ask, mine one x sits on X for a good few minutes before asking for the pin code

I also had the same issues yesterday, so it's making me think it is an hardware fault of the HOX and not a radio firmware bug....
About the App, I can not extend it in the near future since I have very few time to dedicate to Android development.. but maybe one day I'll update it with your feature BTW, I hope you like the app and find it useful.
Possible solution
Thank you for the App! It really saved me while I was experiencing this issue.
Here is the possible solution:
1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2) Open Phone Info Menu
3) Turn off!!! IMS Registration required
I'm continuing to test if it's permanent solution, but for the last 3 days the issue did not occur.
Today I got a little bit bored and decide to make this simple app. As the name says, it allows to put the phone in Standby (Lock) with the touch of app's icon. I know that there are many many apps that do this, but maybe in the future I could add other options to it. So far it seems to work fine, I tested it with Jellbro latest nightly and works like a charm. Maybe I am too lazy, but because my phone is on the desk most of the day, I find it not very convenient to press the Power button...

Changelog for version 1.4:
1.4
- added Tasks feature
- on some ROM versions the screen my try to turn itself on again after lock, the app will double check and try to lock it again. Please provide feedback if it still does not work.
- minor graphic tweaks
You can find it on Google Play at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alinberce.standbytouch
Feel free to give me suggestions . Also a high rating on Google Play would help. Thanks.
App looks fine and the design is not too bad, however I do not see a point in such Apps, since a simple press on the power button does the same. It is even faster, since one of my fingers is usually very close to it anyway.
But as I said, nice work.
Thanks for this! Just got a metal bumper and its annoying to press the power button.
This works great, nice icon !
Edit: don't know why but sometimes the screen wakes up Again right after sleeping. I can't seem to reproduce the problem, seems random.

Wow that does look pretty nice.Thanks.
Quite good idea
any I like your design and interface. it's nice!
Thank you all for your kind words.
@FC1032: I never had my screen turning on after lock, but I did with other apps. I am using a clean install with no apps installed (except keyboard app). Maybe there could be a conflict with other app ? I will restore a bunch of the apps I use and see if I can manage to reproduce this. The app code is fairly simple, just access basic android functions and close itself on clock. Even the Settings page is closed when you leave it
I was thinking of adding some extra features on shutdown... what would you like to do extra, when you send your phone to standby ? How about this: if I set some interval, for instance 10 pm-8am, add some functions like: switch to silent, disable data... etc.
PS: please don't be shy, spread some 5 stars in Google Play, it will help the app to get more users. Thank you all again.

Just downloaded the app. Seems to work fine. One thing that will make it more professional is if you proof read your description on the Google Play page.
For example:
Responsibility, not Responsability
Installation, not Instalation
And the word nasTy, unless that T is supposed to be there.
These are nit picky things, but it makes the app and developer look more polished
Good luck!
Interesting request... I see one way of doing this: there is no way I could catch a double/triple touch on the app's icon, as the icon is in a Launcher app. However I could add in Settings an option with Re-Touch for Shutdown popup. Basically the App would start with a black screen, waiting for 1 seconds for another touch, if no touch it goes to standby, if touch it shows the popup. The only downside would be the shutdown command can only be run on a Rooted device (not really a problem for Nexus ).
Are there other users who would find this feature useful ?
@Cyberdan3: thank you for your corrections. Now it's fixed.
PS: thank you all for your ratings in Google Play... the app is starting to get some stars
@FC1032 do you still have screen wake-ups ? I am using the app since release and not even once the screen opened after lock.

Unfortunately it seems that depending on ROM version (I've tested quite a few), sometimes there is a issue with screen starting again after lock. There are two ways of making things, one simpler and one more complex. I will go with the simpler one first and see feedback. I am preparing a new version which will add a really neat feature... but because I want to keep the design path of the settings page, also on the new feature, I will need to spend some time in the drawing app
Sneak preview of the new version... it just entered testing phase
Ok guys, new version is on Google Play. I did not have enough time to make extensive testing so this may have some bugs on the tasks feature. The Task feature allows you to define intervals in which the Sound/Data/Wifi are On or Off. The app, when you perform a lock will check and update the device of the status as set in Tasks. In order to avoid repetitive operations and prevent battery usage, the check is made only ONCE per interval. So for example if you set the phone to be silent from 22 - 07 and you lock your phone at 22:15, if you reopen and use it, when you lock it again, the app will only make simple lock without all the checks again. If some of you prefer it otherwise, please let me know so I could add an extra setting for it.
As I said earlier, there are some ROM versions where the screen comes On again after lock. The only way I found to handle this is to relock the device after half of second again. So you may notice a slight screen on, but most of the time it will not.
Please let me know if you find any bugs. Thanks.

this is a sort of launcher and with IOS you can't choose a different launcher other than the original one, so the reason why they've gone for android is pretty obvious
Massive drain on the battery though....tried it for a day then gave it up.
Hi
I'm not a developper but I created an app with the Tasker App Factory that unplug 3G one minute after you lock your screen. The one minute delay is here to prevent the phone plugging and unplugging at any time the screen goes off. During this delay, if you wake your device, the process will stop and begin again when you turn the screen off. When the screen is off, after the 1 minute delay, 3G is stopped while the phone is in your pocket to prevent battery drain
Once it is stopped, if you wake the device a new 5 second delay is started, for those who just want to check the clock , and then the 3G is plugged with a ''Data restarted'' toast
Note : Tasker IS NOT required to use this apk :victory:
Feel free to request any modification like the delay or the toast text, I'm here to share such things. And if it helped, don't forget the :good: button

cpu usage
Your app gave me a watchdog alert as it's using more than 50% CPU. This would counteract any benefits as eating CPU results in battery drain.
It also uses 15.3 mb of ram when its role is simple and in no way justifies the ram/CPU usage.
Going to try this as I am tired of manually switching to 2g all the time.

So some Kind of App is responsible.
AFAIK you can't get rid of it now without root.
I wonder if you can use the disable notification feature built in to marshmallow if you can work out which app it is?
Might just be the settings app.
I don't have mine yet to try it out, but on my current Z3+ I can disable notifications generated by the main settings app.
I've read about this and it'll probably annoy me. I like a tidy status bar. The little keyboard option selector on my G4 that pops up when I'm using my keyboard annoys me, too.

you can disable keyboard selector
On HTC 10?
I'm fairly certain the only way to get rid of it on G4 is to delete/disable all keyboards except one. I use SwiftKey and cannot disable LG Keyboard so I'm stuck with it on this device.

Don't you've something like this:
Settings -> Language & Input -> Selector Icon (ON/OFF)
Did you try long pressing the notification choosing settings and unticking notifications?
I do not have the Selector Icon setting and there is no option to untick it in settings. I have an AT&T version, if that matters.
The Boomsound icon will appear if ANY app is running that autoplays video/audio, including Blinkfeed; News Republic; Facebook, etc. The best way to prevent it from appearing under such circumstances, is to unselect autoplay video in every app.
The reason it's popping up randomly is because of silent videos, like ads on mute, facebook videos on mute, etc.
As for disabling the notification, you might be able to accomplish that with sense toolbox (xposed) but you'd need root.
Ads on mute such as in Instagram causes the notification. It is just not necessary. Hopefully there is a "fix".

This is one of the most annoying things about this phone, together with the fact we can't pick and choose the quick settings in the notification bar. I hope that they will fix... Besides that, so far so good, great phone..

Someone else who understands the pain of not being able to edit quick settings! Lol it drives me crazy. I also can't believe they wouldn't include a sync option. I always turn that off overnight.

You can actually activate control over the existing toggles for the quicksettings; however, you will not have access to more toggles. Just open the quicksettings, then press and hold on the Settings button until it asks you to activate SystemUI Tuner. For more toggles you'll have to install a custom ROM (e.g., Viper10, LeeDroid, etc.).
Perhaps a custom rom like Leedroid or Viper can help
I've had the phone for a month now and it just started doing this yesterday. I've always had blinkfeed going and it never did it before. I don't have FB or instagram on the phone. I've cleared all recent apps and it still does it, all night long too. It does it every time I turn the phone on from sleep. It's really annoying, anyone figure out why yet?
OK so I noticed that it seems to only do it when " location services" is on
