Will an Xtc2clip s-off a Verizon HTC 10 ? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if an Xtc2clip will s-off unlock a Verizon HTC 10 ? I am thinking no that we would have to wait for a software update to the xtc2clips to add support for the Verizon HTC 10 but I could be wrong ?

Not yet. Like you said, an update is needed but I'm optimistic

Oh yeah I am 100% sure it will work before too long I just didn't know if maybe the A9 update with the xtc2clip would also work on the Verizon HTC 10. But I guess it was wishful thinking lol.

Yeah I'm already getting antsy lol

I'm looking at purchasing one of these myself once the Verizon HTC 10 works on it. Looks like you can do all kinds of fun and "educational" stuff with this thing!

HTC Failing / Updates

Quick question that I'm thinking about that you should think about. If HTC goes out of business and fails as a company soon, will that mean we won't potentially get future software updates? Or will they all just be rolled out by Verizon as stock software like the Google Play edition HTC One?

This is something you will never have to worry about in the life of this phone.

there is a lot of media talk that HTC is failing. But I don't think they are in any danger of going out of business anytime soon. If anything, they'll get bought out by someone.
As much as I don't think that'll happen, I'm fond of the idea of a straight Google experience on this device without having to buy the GPE edition.

I'm guessing each one of us already has an experience that speaks to this question (which is a pretty good one, by the way). OK, Motorola...Samsung...LG...none of them have failed yet, but here's my version: bought the Droid 3 in October 2011, and two short months later Motorola announced the D4. WHICH (magically) had just the minimum hardware to get the ICS update. Of course the D3 fell under the bar.
So I've suffered the shame and frustration of running Gingerbread on a phone for two years (fwiw, there *have* been ICS and JB ROMs, but all a bit wonky one way or the other, e.g., camera function), while the world of Android has raced by me. To owners like me -- less than 6 months after buying the beast -- all manufacturer support for the device went stone cold.
To be honest, I don't have any nuggets of wisdom to offer here. The two rays of hope if HTC fails are (1) we get root/unlocked bootloader and the devs save us, or (2) we get the 4.3 update as promised and find peace, happiness, and contentment one version short of Kitkat (which, by the way, doesn't look yet like the kind of leap we've seen from one version to the next -- many of the expected improvements are under the hood). I do not think that Google or Verizon will do any work whatsoever on the phone if HTC drops support for it.

whose getting one?

im not going to pre-order,but im definately planning on picking one up.
anyone else?
Will be getting one too, if the first reviews don't reveal a show-stopper....
original info was that "all us carriers" would be on board,so for me it will depend on the availablity of a t mobile variant(i think they are the most versatile). with newer phones im still a bit afraid of getting one that wont be s-offable(aka tegra 3 one x ) so i may also wait until the confirmation that something is working.
not sure what im looking forward to the most... the bigger screen or having an actual sd card again
I remember when the Verizon variant of the HTC One 2013 came out, you could unlock the bootloader via HTC Dev. This was only available for part of the first day though... Hopefully T-Mo will leave the bootloader unlockable! Otherwise I plan on getting the unlocked version from their website or a GPE edition if one comes out.
T Mobile haven't kept anything off of the unlock list yet. Hopefully they keep with that mentality. But I agree with you, I wouldn't get one either if they did. That's a big reason I left Verizon

That's not an apples to apples comparison. I am referring to HTC Dev official unlock site. T Mobile has not requested any devices not be unlockable through it like Verizon and AT&T.
I doubt that the Sony locked bootloader is at the request of T Mobile... it's probably a Sony thing

you said "T Mobile haven't kept anything off of the unlock list yet" so my reply was for that. but yes, T-Mob hasn't requested any devices not be unlockable through HTC Dev.
Some of my team are going to get the m8 including our lead dev and me.
Whoever has a m7,you will be able to flash the m8 rom on your device soon

You know for a fact that tmobile requested the Sony bootloader to be locked? I have never heard of T Mobile requesting any OEM to keep a bootloader locked down tight.
At any rate, as long as I can unlock the m8 thriugh HTC Dev we will be ok

i do not believe T-Mob requested that Sony lock the bootloader. there is no concrete evidence or clarification as to whether they did or did not request it, though.
i'm not sure how T-Mob treated the M7 but i would wager that it would be the same for M8.
I'm hoping to get one
Getting ready to retire my 2 1/2 year old Rezound for this. As of this morning, news (out of China) is that the duo camera is combined 16mp. The leaks have pretty much confirmed removable storage and a battery close to 3000 mAh. Only regret is rumored 2g ROM space. Hopefully that's 3g. Willing to give up my unlimited data on Big Red for this one. :good:

I will be getting one - or at least I am currently planning to. I have been on a Nexus device since the Nexus 4G on Sprint. Ready to upgrade from my current Nexus 4 on T-Mobile - first non-Nexus device to catch my eye. Wife has been using the original T-Mobile One for the past year and I am looking forward to the upgraded version.

[Q] Is JCard root still available for 4.4.2?

OK I will bite. YES. Finding someone with one....much harder.

Due to the price of the card not many people buys one. There was one guy that had one when the one first came out and there was no root exploit. He has fell off the radar since then. I would suggest going to other forums and see if anyone has a card and still offers the service. I am sure they are out there since 4.4.2 isn't rootable as of yet. Sure one person says he has a root exploit but not releasing till Aug.

Returning HTC One M8 To The Tmobile Store

Im Still In My 14 Days Of Returning My Device, But The Bootloader Says **Tampered** And **unlocked** I Have S-On Tho.. And I've removed the red letters When I Boot The Device On... And if they find out it was tampered with , can they charge me on my bill?? im on my way to work and wanted to go after work (6pm, and they close at 8pm) Should i worry?
Thanks In advance and sorry for the question, i just really need help...:good:
? Anyone please...

Why don't you just try? It's not like they'll call the cops on you; the worst they can do is refuse the return. It's also very unlikely that the associates know how to get into the bootloader in the first place, so it probably won't even come up.
How do I return my HTC one m8 back to stock to exchange I'm having battery issues and I have rooted unlocked boot loader and am running venom Rom and am s-on still ??

You just have to look for a basic stock rom and flash that. As long as looks like basic stock, the reps in the store won't notice (or look for) evidence that it's rooted. Carriers (especially T-Mobile and Sprint) generally don't care.
Can I just flash my backup I did a backup before flashing the venom Rom?

Yep, that should work just fine. I did the same when I traded my Sprint M7 in a couple of weeks back.

I dont think that would happen, I have returned a few mytouch phones way back when after having custom roms and nothing has happened. That was many years ago tho and I am not sure if HTC has changed any policies on that since then.
I just went in to tmobile just to figure out if they had any in stock., spoke with a salesman about the restock fee...and he said there is no voiding it unless, they run a diagnosis on the phone but it's unlocked and tampered...should I take the chance and tell them to run it?

if its a hard ware issue the soff wont cause an issue.

Worth it to Grab the ATT model on sale and convert to Dev Edition?

How do you all feel about the idea of getting an ATT edition M9 and converting it? I've stayed AWAY from all carrier versions for a while...but I'm at a point where I can get a ATT M9 for like 350 brand new...and that sounds awesome. (Does anyone know if it has that ugly att logo anywhere?)
Just curious to see if it is worth it...or if I will run into too much BS and should just pay more for the unlocked dev one.
Your thoughts guys/gals?
It does have the logo at the back of the phone. I think you need to pay $25 get soff also.

I know about sunshine and the $25 thing, I don't care about that. Is that really all I have to worry about? Lol. I haven't had an HTC device in many years.
Honestly I'd get the At&t M9 and convert it to Developer Edition. Once it's coverted it's identical to the Dev. Edition other than the At&t logo on back.
