im not going to pre-order,but im definately planning on picking one up.
anyone else?
Will be getting one too, if the first reviews don't reveal a show-stopper....
original info was that "all us carriers" would be on board,so for me it will depend on the availablity of a t mobile variant(i think they are the most versatile). with newer phones im still a bit afraid of getting one that wont be s-offable(aka tegra 3 one x ) so i may also wait until the confirmation that something is working.
not sure what im looking forward to the most... the bigger screen or having an actual sd card again
I remember when the Verizon variant of the HTC One 2013 came out, you could unlock the bootloader via HTC Dev. This was only available for part of the first day though... Hopefully T-Mo will leave the bootloader unlockable! Otherwise I plan on getting the unlocked version from their website or a GPE edition if one comes out.
T Mobile haven't kept anything off of the unlock list yet. Hopefully they keep with that mentality. But I agree with you, I wouldn't get one either if they did. That's a big reason I left Verizon

That's not an apples to apples comparison. I am referring to HTC Dev official unlock site. T Mobile has not requested any devices not be unlockable through it like Verizon and AT&T.
I doubt that the Sony locked bootloader is at the request of T Mobile... it's probably a Sony thing

You know for a fact that tmobile requested the Sony bootloader to be locked? I have never heard of T Mobile requesting any OEM to keep a bootloader locked down tight.
At any rate, as long as I can unlock the m8 thriugh HTC Dev we will be ok

i do not believe T-Mob requested that Sony lock the bootloader. there is no concrete evidence or clarification as to whether they did or did not request it, though.
i'm not sure how T-Mob treated the M7 but i would wager that it would be the same for M8.
I'm hoping to get one
Getting ready to retire my 2 1/2 year old Rezound for this. As of this morning, news (out of China) is that the duo camera is combined 16mp. The leaks have pretty much confirmed removable storage and a battery close to 3000 mAh. Only regret is rumored 2g ROM space. Hopefully that's 3g. Willing to give up my unlimited data on Big Red for this one. :good:

I will be getting one - or at least I am currently planning to. I have been on a Nexus device since the Nexus 4G on Sprint. Ready to upgrade from my current Nexus 4 on T-Mobile - first non-Nexus device to catch my eye. Wife has been using the original T-Mobile One for the past year and I am looking forward to the upgraded version.

HTC's announcement for their newest phone is today (in a couple minutes, really). A video was posted as a preview, which you can watch here, but it isn't in English. It's a pretty good looking phone with some decent specs but overall I think HTC just makes some weird decisions. Calling this device the HTC One after they've already released HTC One X/S/V etc. Seems backwards to me.
Anybody possibly going to be moving to this phone after the Inc 2, or for those of you on newer phones like the DNA/Inc 4g will you be jumping ship this early? My upgrade is in July so I'll probably give it a shot but ultimately I think I will end up with the Galaxy S IV (a sure-fire for development down the road, and for straight spec-power) or potentially the rumored Motorola X.
Specs Quick Reference:
4.7" Full HD screen
Snapdragon 600 processor (Quad-Core)
2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage
2,300 mAh battery
4.1.2 Jelly Bean
My next phone will haveto have on screen keys. I was thinking the HTC One but now I'm just hoping the X-phone is real. I fear it'll probably have an amoled display though(not really a fan). I could get past it if everything else was in order.
Hi guys, I just found the HTC One section on xda

I know, I know. This is an AT&T forum but I have to vent somewhere. It was just released that the One is coming to Verizon but not until September 5th. My question or rant..whichever you prefer. Why on earth would they wait so long to release a phone everyone else had released in March? By this time HTC will be well in the works for the ONE's replacement. HTC is my favorite, have been holding out on my two unlimited plans for the ONE....but 8 months later. Come on guys. Sorry if this bothers any of you.

Precisely the reason that I am a new AT&T customer. Just couldn't wait for VZW any longer.
It probably had something to do with Verizon wanting the Verizon logo everywhere on the phone/s
I really don't know why they are going to release it so late, better late than never I suppose.

It really doesn't make any Sense at all (pun intended).
But I'm actually worried more for our Verizon bretherens bootloaders. If any carrier is gonna lock a phone down that is unlockable on EVERY other carrier and variant it'd be Verizon.

There's a debate that the reason all the carriers havent updated to 4.2.2. Is because Verizon is keeping them from doing it until they get the one. How messed is that? I'm not sure if that's 100% true but sounds like a good argument.
There can only be one, the chosen ONE.

Add me to this list. I left for the One amongst other reasons. Kinda kicking myself now that Verizon will be offering it, but it is what it is. AT&T has just about caught Verizon in terms of 4G LTE anyway.
I'm also looking forward to new nexus devices that I'll actually be able to use!
I have a Verizon HTC One that I purchased on the device payment plan. I have searched here and you tube to see if I can unlock the bootloader to install custom roms. I know it has the old bootloader version of 1.54. Any help will be great before my return Window closes.

No hope of boot loader unlock on that firmware currently. Only option is send to sonic for s-off. Or change carriers to att or someone else and get a one from them, I returned my Verizon one and did just that and couldn't be happier.

So you are against sending it out to get s-off'd by sonic? That's a permanent root for you...
If not, do some research before you purchase a new $600 device. If root is a MUST for you please take time to make sure a new phone will fit your needs in this matter before you waste their time with return of an otherwise GOOD product.

If you kept your old phone, reactivate that one, send your One to Sonic to get S-Off (for a very reasonable fee... the java cards are expensive!), then when you get it back, reactivate the one. Done and done!

more development will be on the htc one maxx than this phone (unfortunately HTC kinda did again - what they did with the HTC Inc4g I just hope this community actually stays and doesn't leave), not saying that it will get S-OFF faster, but it will have more of a community than us, which = more bounty money = more developers working on exploits. Personally I can't use a phone bigger than 5' large. Again, this is just an opinion from word around the water coolers.

AT&T sickens me! Not only have they butchered this phone and delayed updates but their latest stunt is unforgivable. I got a text saying as a note 4 owner I would be eligible for a free gift. Apparently if you put the code into the mobility website you can get a free t-shirt that says "If I was with Verizon I'd have Root by now!". How low can they sink?
