HTC One M8 Eye - Unable to update - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have just received a HTC One M8 Eye as a replacement for my M8S from my insurers as no M8S was available. This was fine but I have realised that it is on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and when I try and update it says no update available. I've read online that Marshmallow has been rolled out to phones in Europe but when I've looked for roms the only thing I can find is lollipop for India and China else it's kitkat. Can anyone help me update even if it's just to lollipop? I don't really want to root the phone just sideload a stock Rom if poss.
Thanks.

Thought i'd give this a bump...

Post fastboot getvar all result minus serial & imei no.
If it is EU version, you should have updated it to Marshmallow 5.07.401.1

Your getvar looks fine. Is the bootloader LOCKED ?
Have you try factory reset (only when you have stock recovery, not on custom recovery) and recheck for update ?
Not so sure whether there is RUU available (for free) for your device .. will check.

Hi, yes the bootloader is *** LOCKED ***, it's exactly as I received it. I tried a factory reset when I initially realised that it was on KitKat but that didn't help. Thanks for your assistance, it's appreciated.

I've still not managed to update my phone and it's still on 4.4.4 KitKat... i've started to have issues with google services hogging resource, causing the phone to heat up and use a lot of battery. I'm desperate to update it. Anyone know if a stock rom is available yet for a UK M8 Eye either Lollipop or Marshmallow?
Thanks

[RESOLVED] Baseband Version/IMEI unknown

Hi friends,
I hope you guys are able to help, I have spent the whole day trying to fix my phone. So it all started when I flashed a radio that didn't work (I had SuperCID). After that, I tried different radios and flashed a radio that had the same version with my stock radio and none of them worked. So I decided to restore my phone to stock factory settings by downloading a stock backup from here (2.22.707.4 - TWRP Thanks to ckpv5) and the latest firmware from here (2.22.707.4_firmware.zip).
I flashed the firmware first twice, successfully and the restore the stock backup from TWRP and it got into a bootloop. However if i flash a custom GPE rom, it boots successfully but Baseband/IMEI becomes unknown.
I'm not sure what else to do now :crying:
I've tested installing a custom Sense based rom and GPE based rom, the Sense custom rom will get stuck in a boot loop but the custom GPE rom won't have issues. Except for the Baseband unknown version and IMEI unknown.

Good news!
I managed to resolved the issue by downloading the Taiwan (HTC__621 / 1.54.709.4): 1.15.2133156.UA14G_20.18n.4096.05L radio from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736921
Before I flashed the radio, I had configured my phone to SuperCID 11111111. I didn't clear any caches after the flash, not sure if that matters.
I haven't checked on why Sense roms are boot looping but I'm happy with a GPE rom without any issues. So I'll just stick with that for the time being

Where to get latest firmware.zip for htc one m8

I have an htc one m8 ATT phone I want to install the ViperOneM8 5.02 rom on which says I need to update the firmware to a marshmellow firmware I think.
Or the latest.
While I have found some documentation how to do this on the net, I am not sure where I obtain these files.
The firmware.zip I believe it is
Help on this would be appreciated
Right now I am using hboot 3.16 and twrp 2.7
I found this link
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=32780
and grabbed the 4.16.1540.8.zip but want to make sure I am grabbing the correct and latest version. Because I don't want to brick my phone
Post your fastboot getvar all result without serial & imei no.
You may need a different firmware if it's AT&T & S-On and also don't use that outdated 2.7 TWRP.

For some devices, TWRP 2.7 is recommended due to how older boot loaders may not take it well.
I like TWRP. When its workable, its array of tools is superior to CWM. But after I tried 2.8.x, I decided CWM or TWRP at or below 2.7.0.2 is safer and less crash prone.
When I attempted to boot to recovery it would boot loop. Please be mindful of boot signing. If you so slightly make your OEM software notice things a fuse will make your phone implode.

Good point. For some odd reason CM pairs ROMs and Recoveries. If you check the Dev Auto update option would that be unnecessary.
It's been an itching question I actually had...
Sent from my HTC M8 GPE
? Mass Transit Honchkrow ?
I originally had twrp 2.8 on and tried to install the latest. But it was freezing because I think I need a newer version of hboot. which I have 3.16 on it.
I then downgraded to 2.7 to get it working. I installed ViperOnem8 Rom not reading the website successfully. but have issues with wifi, and 2 minute boot times.
"The 5.0.x ROM is based on HTC’s latest M8 Sense 7 Android 6.0.x base and requires you to update your firmware to at least the 6.0.x (Marshmallow) version! If you don’t you will run into some issues such as Wi-Fi not working or No Boot, etc.
We cannot install the firmware for you during ROM installation so you will need to take the steps to update the firmware on your own."
So I need to update my firmware. I have an ATT S-ON phone. But I have no clue where to get the firmware from, and make sure it is the right one and recent.
I need to update my firmware in order for this rom and a newer version of twrp to work correctly
ok, so
I upgraded to 3.11.1700.5 firmware I found. and that was successful.
Then I upgraded my twrp to twrp-3.0.2-0-m8 and that was successful
Now I am trying to install either Revolution Rom, or ViperOnem8 and both have the same problem. After install they keep booting into twrp and won't load.
I tried Cynamod and that installed and booted fine.
I believe both Revolution and Viper use the Aroma installer. Anyone know what is going on with these and a fix to stop it from booting into twrp?
Need advice

Wrong firmware. You installed an old version of GPE firmware.
You can't install Sense ROM like Revolution and Viper on GPE firmware.
I asked you to post fastboot getvar all to help you but it seems that you made it harder now because you installed a wrong firmware. If it is S-Off, then it is easy to fix.

First - remove all serial & imei no. from your above post.
As I said, it is not easy to fix this with S-On device. What you can try is to install the latest AT&T 6.20.502.5 firmware first then run 6.20.502.5 RUU
Read this for the firmware and how-to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66886759&postcount=23
You can get the RUU here : http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-att/news/

so your saying, install the ruu, update the firmware, then re install viper?
Can't I just update the firmware like I did before? It was S-On before I updated the firmware
The ruu won't install. it says needs more then 30% battery, yet it is fully charged

No .. I don't say that ... read again ...
Flash firmware.zip first then RUU ...
or install ROM first, don't reboot the system, but reboot to bootloader, relock bootloader then flash firmware.zip
As you already flashed a wrong firmware, as I said this may work and may not work but the only way that you can try to fix the wrong firmware installed.

That show you don't read all the posts that I posted .. the firmware.zip is posted in the post that earlier posted
You have to wait for someone else I guess who can write a post that you can understand .. maybe my English is not good enough ... good luck

You can get the RUU here : http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-att/news/

ok .. now that I understand what you are saying. because you had the RUU .exe and also were explaining how to update the firmware at the same time while the firmware was burried a couple of levels of posts, I didn't understand what you were saying.
so it looks like the firmware updated successfully

I unlocked the firmware through the htc website with the Unlock_code.bin
because fastbook oem unlock didn't work.
had to reinstall twrp and that worked after reinstall. although lots of mounting file system errors. with /Data I don't know if that's normal.
seems to be fixed after formatting
Now I will try installing a rom

Now you got it.
And yes, after changing from GPE to Sense GSM (AT&T) firmware, you need to reinstall TWRP (the latest 3.0.2-0) and you MUST format data partition, in TWRP - select WIPE, Format Data - yes ... because GPE & Sense data partition is of different size.
Please where can i get compatible firmware for my htc one m8s with S.O 1.12.1405.6 . I have been on this over 3 weeks now but all no avail.

If you give more info on which M8 version you own, we can help you determine which RUU. The RUU needs to match your CID and MID.

Any specific reason you want LP? MM is the current, and has been since Dec 2015.
MM RUU for your version M8 is here (its a zip format RUU, so follow the instructions in the post): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
Also, be sure to delete the IMEI and serial number from your previous post. These are personal info that should never be posted online.

The getvar all which I posted is an older version. I have the latest RUU installed, with MM and latest bootloader. The thing is that, I am feeling like the charge is finishing faster while playing games. Moreover, I have another problem. I don't get cellular connectivity. The sim works fine on other phones. The sim is also detected by M8, but no signal. It worked before. I tried every fix on the internet (as far as I could find by searching Google). Can you please help me with that? I don't really want to change to lollipop btw. Please, could you solve the problem? Please?

You can't downgrade (such as MM to LP) by RUU with s-on.

Having problem updating release keys?

Hi,i've been having update problems last 2 days and im confused.Every time i click restart & install button in update section it brings phone to recovery and starts installing update, but suddenly it requires phone to have root access. Is there any way to fix that without rooting? well this getvar result is not right or you have missed some thing
have you convert the device from sense to GPE ?
product : m8_ul is unlocked ( sense based )
GPE product is : m8_ul_ca
version main & cidnum are belong to GPE device
modelid is belong to sense device ( T-Mobile US )
you may need to clean up this mess then update your device

it depends on your choice ( sense or GPE )
the easier is GPE only need to change the modelid go to this thread to change it ( choose google play mid )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581
then do update
or if you need to back to sense you need to go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523
and follow the steps but replace the firmware in thread with most recent one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
choose the one that match your modelid
or here it's direct link
https://mega.nz/#!yIhBTRKJ!5rZldUEzCaFqYUhomn4mO_IgA_-nW6-gV9HX5LCzT5Y
after that you will need to flash rom, restore backup or flash RUU from htc here is direct link
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_TMOUS_6.20.531.5.exe
Edit:- it's recommended to back to sense as you can flash GPE based rom on sense firmware but you can't flash sense based rom on GPE firmware it's your choice

i cant install update on htc one m8

hi to all .. i have htc one m8 and i root it ..i want to check if the root still ..if yes i want to unroot ..my htc version is lollipop ...plz help me
You need to restore a stock TWRP backup (stock ROM) and stock recovery in order to OTA update. See the following thread for the required files and guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Alternately, if there is an RUU for your M8 version, you can use it to update. But not all M8 versions have RUU. Do fastboot getvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number before posting) if you want further advice.
EDIT: I see from your post history, that you asked this same exact question last year (and again the year before that), and I gave you the proper answer. Not sure why you feel the need to ask the same question over and over, when you've already been provided the correct answer.
If you don't understand the process, or have any specific questions about the process, then ask them. Otherwise, just asking the same question (how to return to stock for update) is just annoying.
iam back plz help

You are on the latest version. There are no more updates. There haven't been for years now (3-4 years?).
