Hi all
I have Galaxy Grand I9082. Suddenly It was restarted and stay in boot loop.
I try to install stock rom 4.2.2 by odin but after green color and pass the mobile it restart to recovery to complete flashing and after about 25% from progressive it stop and say:
e:failed to verify whole-file signature
installing aborted
in the first It say:
failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
I googled it and I found I have to format /data partition the I do that by adb by this code
Code:
adb push mkfs.ext4 /tmp
adb shell
chmod 777 /tmp/mkfs.ext4
/tmp/mkfs.ext4 -b 4096 -O ^huge_file,^dir_nlink,^ext_attr,^resize_inode,^extra_isize -m 0 /dev/block/mmcblk0p21
then the /data partition is work correctly
but the mobile stay on boot loop
I try to install rom rooted as zip format by custom recovery ( philz_touch_6.19.3-i9082.tar.tar )
from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340562
but it said It's bad file and then I see the zip file change to 0 kb
I try to install stock rom by odin with baffin.pit but no change

Have you installed the 4.1.2 rom on your country?
If the installation is successful and you have problems you must perform a hard reset:
Turn the phone off.
Press and hold VOLUME UP and Home(center) button
Press Power until the phone vibrate
Wait until you see the Android logo then release all the buttons.
Select Wipe data/Factory reset with VOLUME DOWN, press Power (right hand-side)
Select YES -- delete all user data with VOLUME DOWN and then press Power
After format,
Select wipe cache partitionwith VOLUME DOWN, press Power (right hand-side)press
Power again to reboot phone. (select reboot system now)

Same happened with me, too. Try flashing philz recovery, that works well in flashing roms. And if you wanna stick to twrp, then from recovery menu, first wipe everything and then again reboot to recovery. Then flash the desired rom. It should work. :good:
And yea, this is a minor problem. You don't need to flash fastboot rom. Just do as i said or switch to philz revovery.
I'm getting an error message when trying to install custom rom resurrection remix. The error is 'Your recovery is using new storage layout and rom is not'
How can install the rom then?

Have you used any kernel tweaks or anything of that sort before? L-speed maybe?
If I am honest I am not sure ..I ran a couple of different roms then when trying to get back to stock this is where it all has gone wrong
I think the roms I used were leedroid and then viper
I think when installing viper it asked to tweak things that I oked
I occasionally get the same error but it has never stopped me from installing a ROM.
could it be because my phone is s on
when i try to instal a rom using fastboot abd i get the eror (9 ru_security_fail zip from usb command ion download mode)
just tried running this ..........TWRP Backup (Untouched System Image + Boot)
all installed then at very end got this .failed to mount '/devlog (invalid argument)
now just boot looping
Does anyone have any ideas before i skim the phone out the window
progress i have reinstalled a rom called rr-n-v5.8.4 resurection or something
i think this is the last rom that broke my phone i can run this now but it seems i cant go back to stock from here
can anyone help or tel;l me how to get to stock from here

I'm honestly not sure but I've had that devlog error before but like @lightweaponx said it never stopped me from flashing a rom. It happened when I kept messing with kernels and i think it has to do with disabling logging (stops device from creating logs to increase performance) but even then that error never caused me issues. Id suggest trying different twrp version if that doesnt work then perhaps you should RUU and retry it all from scratch.
There are a lot of threada and posts to get back to stock search arounr and im sure youll find it

Flash RUU and stay stock untill you actually know what your doing. Post your CID.
I have tried flashing stock ruu using the zip file but it wouldn't work
I managed to change Karnak last night and install leedroid everything went through but then on booting up it asked for decryption

How are you flashing RUU? You need to format data if you get that message. Can you please post your CID? I have a feeling your trying to either flash the wrong RUU or your trying to do it in twrp which you can't.

Fastboot the stock boot.img to remove twrp. Then try using twrp version 3.3.0-0. You will still throw mounting errors when you flash zips, but it will still work :good:
it worked thank you !

On Android 10 the /system partition is locked at read only so it can't be mounted in TWRP as read write. To do a nandroid backup go to mount and select mount partitions as read only and check /system and /vendor then do the backup
