HTC 10 US version in Europe for LTE? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I currently use AT&T and often visit Europe and use my Vodafone sim card while I am over there. It seems like US version supports most of the Vodafone LTE bands, but EMEA version supports none of the AT&T bands. Should I buy the new HTC 10 from US?
According to this web site, Vodafone Turkey works on; 800, 900, 1800, 2100, and 2600 bands. http://www.spectrummonitoring.com/frequencies/#Turkey
And AT&T works on; 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), and 17(700).
I am little confused because, for example; 2600 frequency is listed as 38(2600) and 7(2600), while 700 frequency is listed as 17(700) and 28(700) for US and EMEA versions.
And if I buy the US version, I will not be getting hi-fi headphones right?

Check this site, it might help you

With LTE networks there's FDD bands and then there's TDD bands. FDD/TDD tells what the duplex mode is. Don't ask me anything specific about that though
For example, 2600Mhz frequency at bands 7 and 38 are not compatible with each other despite same frequency but different duplex mode.
Here, I made a little table for you to help visualize the difference

EMEA you get:
5/5 Vodafone Turkey
1/4 AT&T USA
USA you get:
4/5 Vodafone Turkey
4/4 AT&T USA
Buy the USA version, you only lose 900Mhz (Band 8) with Vodafone. I wouldn't call that a big loss unless you spend lots of time in the country side.
Because that's where 800/900Mhz frequencies are mainly used since their signal can travel so far. Higher frequencies are then used in cities etcetera.
In the event that you're in 900Mhz band 8 area, there's a high chance there's 800Mhz signal. Or 900Mhz UMTS. So you're pretty much set with the USA version.
And no you don't get the earphones with unlocked from HTC or from carrier unless they bundle them with the phone.

Thank you so much for clarifying my confusion, also by making a chart to explain respect...
I think I will be buying a US unlocked version.:good:

US version also supports band 30 for AT&T. It's been showing up in major U.S. cities such as New York and Baltimore.

The T-Mobile US version will only work with carrier 1 on B3 and carrier 2 on B5. It doesn't support band 8 and doesn't support any TDD frequencies. You'll have to look at how coverage is on those carriers within those bands and decide if it's worth it to you.

Will the LTE version bought in the US work in the UK

I see that the T-Mobile LTE version is available in the US on the play store. It is significantly cheaper than in the UK.
I bought the v1 WiFi nexus 7 in the US and had no issues. If I buy the LTE version from the US can I assume that I can use it on a UK mobile network without issue? I presume both are gsm and there is no issue?
Thanks

Even GSM networks operate on different frequencies on different continents. LTE networks may have other frequencies than GSM networks.
I found a (german) comparisation list for LTE frequencies. For US, there are 700, 1700, 1900 and 2100 MHz listed; for UK there are 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz noted.
So, if you buy an US version, it will be useless in UK. Besides the useability, you may have to pay taxes on import, additional to p&p. Will it still be cheaper then?

For France, same frequencies than UK.
We will use someday 700 MHz also.
Some of us are waitin 4 an Euro LTE Nexus 7.
I found something about the Nexus 7 ... on http://www.google.com/nexus/7/ .
Scroll down until you see a link "Tech Specs". Open it and scroll a bit down; all GSM, UMTS and LTE frequencies are listed for different world areas.
The US and the EU version share most LTE frequency cpabilities, but the US version can operate on 700 and 750 MHz (which the EU device can't use) while the EU one can operate on 800 and 2600 MHz (which the US device can't use).
So it depends on your carrier's frequencies if you can operate an US device in UK or not.

My brother is over in the US next week and could therefore bring it back without P&P and most likely other charges.
In the UK the price is 320 GBP so the saving is around 100GBP with the currency conversion.
Currently I have my mobile with T-Mobile and a sim that I use in a mifi on Three. I am looking to move the Three mifi sim into the Nexus but I don't think that looks like it would work as it states they will use 800 and 1800. I presume that both frequencies are used?
The US device can't use the 800 MHz band, but the 1800. Maybe your carrier operates LTE at 1800, maybe not. Can't say that from here (Germany).
Going to take a chance. The US price for the LTE is cheaper than the WiFi only in the UK. Will advise how I get on

Same here Czech rep, 32 gb lte is the same price than 16 gb wifi here. But i need the 3G/4G internet can't risk it i must know
Aidenbree: this is exactly what i was thinking of doing too, so thanks for asking the question! I'm also on Three and would be really interested to hear how you get on. £100 saving is worth thinking about!

Surprisingly, the radio software is the same, in fact everything software wise is identical between both devices, there is but a single firmware for both devices. I am not even sure if the US version can't technically use band 7 and vice/versa, has anyone tried to connect to a LTE network in the EU using a US LTE Nexus 7 ? Maybe those specs are just "limited" to comply with FCC/EU regulations/certifications (Paying for the CE certification for a specific frequency can be expensive)
If there is a difference then some flag must be set hardware wise to tell the radio what frequencies it can tune to.

noob question
sorry for the nooby question but i have been w8 a long time for the note 3 and now that its finally coming i feel left out.. i use wind and i really like it but they wouldn't give me any useful information about their plans for note 3. so i'm looking for help here, t-mobile has the preorder open and i was thinking of getting that, i live in canada so would i be able to preorder from t-mobile?? if it is would that note 3 work with wind?? and what model is t-mobile selling. thanks
Supports other carriers' frequencies as as well as LTE 2600 Mhz!
In addition to the tech specs cited by the OP from the products section, here is another "official" page from T-Mobile in their support section.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-9056
Specifically, I am interested in roaming and network interoperation capabilities. So from that link, here it is for anyone else if also interested.
Tech specs: Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Network
3G/4G/LTE Capable
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
3G/UMTS: Band I (UMTS 2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100/AWS), Band V (850)
LTE: Band 4, Band 17, Band 1(2100), Band 2(1900), 5(850), 7(2600)
As you can see, it includes every 2G/3G/4G frequency on AT&T (but AT&T's Notes 3 does not reciprocate), some on Verizon 4G (Band 4 but not their Band 13 700 Mhz which is different than AT&T's Band 17 700 MHz), and Sprint's 2G/3G and Band 2 1900 MHz 4G.
Well, I can hardly believe this. It even supports LTE 2600 Mhz which is available in many countries (including Canada's Bell and Rogers) and thus capable of the highest theoretical LTE speed where carrier supported.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
I became most interested in the T Mo version because it offered the greatest interoperability after considerable research on the FCC site. Now discovered that sweet bonus of 2600 Mhz.
[Q] Which USA Note 3 Variant to get? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45794297#post45794297
The TMo, Wind, Mobi version is the best in terms of using in other carriers' networks. That is not only in terms of the radio but traditionally, T Mo has not locked the bootloader. It's my undertanding the TMo version will come SIM-unlocked too.

It refers to the following 4 frequencies: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Mhz. The frequencies are not universally supported by the world's carriers. In North America, the 850 and 1900 are used, while Europe for example uses 900 and 1800. Usage in other regions vary. But to have "quad band GSM" capability means global compatibility, at least on 2G networks, and is therefore desirable.
GSM itself and closely associated technologies EDGE and GPRS (if it's GSM, then EDGE and GPRS are automatically implied) is also referred to 2G that preceded the 3G and 4G we are now using but backward compatible with 2G. Thus 3G and 4G phones such as the Galaxy Note 3 we are talking about here will work on the AT&T GSM network (which by the way uses 850 and 1900 Mhz frequencies) in addition to (I think this is your confusion) to AT&T's 3G and 4G frequencies.
Any modern, unlocked phones nowadays that has GSM capability will be quad band. So 2G is not an issue - any version of the phone will work on any carrier's 2G network. However, if you want to use AT&T's 3G and 4G network, you have to get a version of the phone that supports AT&T's 3G and/or 4G network. Only AT&T's version of the Note 3 (as well as T-Mobile's version for reasons pointed out above) will wholly work on AT&T's 3G and 4G networks.
In summary - I'm not sure if this is the question you wanted answered - yes the T Mo version will work on the entire AT&T 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA) and 4G (LTE) networks - whatever voice or data capabilities your AT&T plan requires. But the T Mo version has to be SIM (carrier) unlocked. From what I understand, this is the case.

WIND has traditionally used whatever version T-Mobile has used as they were exactly compatible with the WIND network and because WIND is too small of a company to impose their own specification on Samsung. They use the closet matching US model just like Bell, Rogers and Telus would use the AT&T version. Click on my link to [Q] Which USA Note 3 Variant to get? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45794297#post45794297 and you will see the various model numbers of the Note 3. The "T" version is what WIND should carry (T for T Mobile surprise surprise) although the WIND Note 3 may come in their own orange retail box. Please note that WIND has traditionally SIM (carrier) locked their phones - you probably already know this but that means if you take it to the US, it'll roam on T-Mobile with WIND billing you. But if you did want to insert a T Mobile SIM, then you'd have to unlock it which, although can be done, would invalidate the warranty.
Also note that WIND doesn't use the quad GSM frequencies because it doesn't have a 2G network. It never built one because it started only in I think 2008 timeframe. Nor does it yet have a 4G network. So in Canada, it will use only the 3G 1700/2100 (AWS) capabilities of the T Mobile model. That's what I was talking about by WIND choosing the closet matching model for US carriers. But that's okay because if WIND does obtain part of that 700 MHz spectrum being auctioned by the CRTC, then their Note 3 would be 4G ready.
You're on WIND yet interested in the T Mo model because T Mo is taking pre-oders. Are you not aware WIND is also taking pre-orders since about September 23 through their Facebook account? https://www.facebook.com/WINDmobile/app_632884196731950

Welcome fellow Canadians!
Seeing as the Galaxy Note 3 is going to be released in Canada very shortly (October 4th), I figured we should get some discussion going on where you're buying, and any speculations to price points.
I just got off of a chat with Telus, regarding an email I had received, offering $50 off a device when you sign a contract, OR, stay month-to-month. So you can save a bit of money for those who are purchasing the phone outright, or even signing up for a new contract. You need to call a special sales line: 1-877-279-3900
Also, while she couldn't officially confirm, the rep did tell me that she would strongly suggest I go to a corporate store on Friday.. Obviously this is just in case there are shipping delays (doubtful) but I think that it's quite safe to say that it's coming out on Friday!
Currently, Wind Mobile is the only carrier to officially announce their pricing, but I think that it would be safe to say that the other carriers will be in line (roughly) with Wind.
- WIND 40: $449
- WIND 30: $549
- WIND 33: $549
- WIND 20: $649
- Outright: $749
I was also able to "confirm" with the rep, that the price point for Telus would probably fall around $799, so that isn't too far off of Wind's pricing.
Discuss anything related to the Canadian launch of the Note 3!

Confused! Basebands
I'm confused! Can someone help me to line up which Note 3 model can operate in FDD LTE/4G on 1, 3, 8, 11 and 20 basebands?
This thread is titled Note LTE 1700 and 2100 MHz, this is why I post my question here.
I have 2 operator contracts: Vodafone Italy and Softbank Japan. I'm looking for a phone that will work LTE on both.
Vodafone Italy uses 1700 and 2100 MHZ
Softbank in Japan uses 1700 and 2100 MHz.
Can anyone reccommend me the right Note 3 LTE model?
So far I have been advised to buy the N9005.
But it does not have 1700MHz.
Any idea? Thank you.
PS: the N9005 comes in all these MPN. Can anyone tell me what differences there are?

In summary - I'm not sure if this is the question you wanted answered - yes the T Mo version will work on the entire AT&T 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA) and 4G (LTE) networks - whatever voice or data capabilities your AT&T plan requires. But the T Mo version has to be SIM (carrier) unlocked. From what I understand, this is the case.

Will the ATT 900A work on the T mobile network LTE fully? Once SP unlocked that is. I thought the N900A was missing one LTE band that T mobile USA uses?
I am considering moving to T mobile and wife has an N900A currently that I would like to use on the t mobile network.

International LTE coverage and phone bands

band 7 2600 Supported by i337 and m919 band 7 used in Europe and Canada
The i337 (AT&T model) does the same LTE bands as the T-Mobile model. It only lacks AWS HSPA+ (3G), which the mod in this thread enables. I would have gotten the M919, but T-Mobile doesn't sell the 32GB model, plus AT&T variants are generally cheaper.
No model sold in the US (including the i9505G Google Edition) will do 800 or 2600 MHz. The i337M does though (Rogers Canada). Europe uses completely different LTE frequencies than the US.[/QUOTE] END QUOTE

The m919 according to this supports 2 and 5 bands that the i337 does not, i am new to this but as i said i picked this phone for international use aswell and would like to know the truth. But according to my information, Vodaphone in Germany uses to main bands 7 and 20. 7 Being the one that the US variant could receive.
since the I337 is basically the same in Canada, i looked up Bell
Bell :
Bell Canada 1700 4 FDD September 2011 [75][76]
Bell Canada 2600 7 FDD March 2012 [77] available in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Toronto for additional bandwidth.
Both 4 and 7 are support by both devices, since 7 is on freq 2600mhz in Canada and is the same I337 as AtnT would it not be right to assume that the phone could get band 7 in europe? It is true that AtnT does not use those bands in the US but that does not mean the phone cannot support them. Furthermore i picked the M919 because of its native AWS support and the 30$ 5GB 4GLTE Tmobile Plan BOYA talk about savings..... I am curious to know if im correct, my research lends me to think I am. Europe uses mostly band 3 and 7! 7 Being the one you want!

They list there LTE in MHz but i believe 2600 IS band 7 which the US variants support. My confusion is that AWS is listed in there LTE part and in the US its under the HSPA part. A little clarification and first hand experience with internation use of US variant S4s would be great for poeple who have trouble getting good information from the other side of the world!!
Worst case tho im sure you can always get texting and calling and stick to Wi-Fi while travelling, but to us super-users, thats like going back to dial up.
Lol why are you copying and pasting my posts? As for your question, AWS is used for LTE on T-Mobile (and in very few areas by AT&T, which is why their devices also do AWS LTE). However, AT&T requests that AWS HSPA+ be disabled on their devices because they only use 850/1900 MHz for HSPA+ and it would only benefit those looking to switch to T-Mobile if they left that 1700 MHz band activated.

[Q] Buying device Full retail vs Unlocked

Hello, I'm visiting USA for the first time next month and I was thinking on buying the Galaxy S6 Edge.
I noticed that on T-Mobile/Verizon/... they have whats called "Full retail price", and it costs much less that the "Unlocked" version from Best Buy/Amazon.
Whats the difference between the two? I will be using the device back on my home country.
Thanks,
Leoon

In what country do you live and on what carrier will you use it? I ask so that I can check LTE usage.
All Verizon phones are sold unlocked, but you cannot purchase them at full retail from a Verizon store without a Verizon account, you would need to buy it at Best Buy. This is the easiest way to get an unlocked S6E in the USA.

I think Verizon and Tmobile are different, they use different technology, research in which carrier in your country you need to use this phone, and if you need a gsm "sim Card" phone, don't buy a T mobile, its very difficult almost impossible to unlock, buy a AT&T phone.
Which country?
the only one that is truly unlocked is the Verizon version , but will depend which bands are compatible with your carrier
Verizon bands:
LTE (4G)
band 2 / 1900 MHz PCS (Americas)

Does Verizon Account cost money to create? Because Full-Retail (in their website), the phone costs 699$. But at Best Buy it costs 780$.

All phones here use sim card.
So T-Mobile is a no-go. The only 2 options are AT&T and Verizon.
Country: Israel, carrier: Pelephone
I did some research and found out that in order to use LTE here, the phone needs to support these frequencies: 1800MHz & 2600MHz.

My advice it's check if G925A its compatible with your carrier and buy this, easy to buy in eBay and easy to unlock whit a 10 dollar code.

Yes it does and you will not be able to create one without a US address and credit. Unfortunately they operate a very archaic system at their stores. Best Buy does not require you to open an account. You may also trade a phone at a Best Buy and receive a discount if it's new enough.

Thanks for the information on your location. All carriers in Israel currently only operate LTE on Band 3, which is 1800. Please reference here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks. The Verizon version supports this band contrary to what the above posters have said. Please see here: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-G925VZDAVZW-specs
Also, please be aware that you will need a nano SIM such as the one that the iPhone 5, 5S, 6, and 6 Plus use.

Does the Unlocked/uncarrier S9 support T-mobile Band 71

Does anyone know if the S9 support all the new LTE band 71
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ among first phones to support band 71 LTE
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...9-first-phones-support-t-mobiles-band-71-lte/
Should be in the hardware for the unlocked versions.
Currently, there are no network specific models (or unlocked models as a matter of fact). Info here: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s9-8966.php
I think we will have the confirmation in the next couple of weeks.

According to this website the new Galaxy S9 will support the T-Mobile band and it looks like from what I've been reading all the Galaxy S9 support every band of every carrier.
https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/Ar9mx/samsung-sm-g965u-galaxy-s9-td-lte-samsung-star-2
According to this detailed list, only the T-Mobile version of the phone supports 600mhz.
https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-sm-g960-g965-model-number-differences/
I hope this is not the case, but this list suggests it is.

Different sources are posting different specs. The listing on frequencycheck is much more vague for the model (SM-G965U does not specify which carrier/version [if different versions are different]).
Can we get this information directly from Samsung somehow?

It wasn't the only place I saw it. One site was showing the FCC filing with Band 71 on there. I'll have to dig up the link later as I'm heading out the door.
I'd like to know if the unlocked model supports it. Seems like it would but I want to be sure before I pre-order.
Here is some info I just received from Samsung support concerning the bands the s9 unlocked supports.
B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B13(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B25(1900), B26(800), B28(700), B29(700), B30(2300), B66(AWS-3)
So it looks like no band 71 for T Mobile in the unlocked phone.

I asked Samsung support today, they confirmed that the unlocked SM-G965UZKAXAA will not have B71 support.
Granted, it's tier 1 support, but he did go over all the other bands.

Ugh..... Can we get more clarification? I am seeing tons of mixed info online. I just paid more to preorder the unlocked version so I wouldn't have to deal with Tmobile bloat....now it sounds like I will be missing more than just the bloat. Debating cancelling my preorder...

What kind of bloat are you referring to, out of curiosity? I wonder if I've just grown used to it.
Coming from an S7, I disabled apps like Lookout, Caller ID, etc. - the only two that remain are T-Mobile and Visual Voicemail. I don't like that Facebook is built in as an untouchable system app, but other than that, it seems easy to handle the bloat.
Found this info on the Best Buy site, this confirms what Samsung support told me no band 71 for the unlocked variant.

The problem I have with this information is that at those levels of support they historically don't really know. Usually you can have 3 different conversations and get 3 different answers.

Can attest to this. I also contacted Samsung about this twice just to make sure and both times, two different people have said band 71 is supported by the unlocked US version. Might be out of luck until someone actually gets the phone and tests.
Well, after reading the thread I decided to contact Samsung support, again, to see what they might say today. I contacted live chat support again and this is what they sent me. The bands supported by the Galaxy s 9 unlocked variant.

Decided to peruse the FCC docs for the Galaxy S9, located here: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...id=iZpmwirNeCdRpxZDqp7ksg==&fcc_id=A3LSMG960U
Specifically the "HAC Key Feature letter" doc, if I'm reading/understanding it correctly, both the SM-G960U and SM-G960U1 (unlocked model if they're following the same model number scheme as last year) will support Band 71 LTE.
I guess direct linking to the doc is not allowed, but you can open it from the link above.
Band 46 is actually LTE-LAA, so that's also good news that the unlocked model supports that.
I have a definitive answer to finally put this to rest, yes Band 71 is support on Unlocked galaxy s9
