Have my telefon now a hardware defect?
Any possibilities for a live sign for my phone? What i can i do for a revivification?
Edit: After i cook i9250 in oven for 25min by 130 degress, i9250 start again Only Screen have now a little gold glimmer, but no problem to make now a backup and move to pc.

HELP - Power Button Only Dimms Backlight - Cannot Turnoff!

hi guys,
Recently the phone was in my pocket and loads of things were opened and pressed accidently... now it appears i cannot switch off my XDAIIs by just pushing the power button.
All i can do is push and hold for like 3 seconds and it turns the light off, i've exhausted all the options and menus, but still cant find anything!
Does anyone know a way to fix this please?
:?:
I'm not sure what the experts will say but I'd do a hard reset after backing up my data.
Steve
I take it you've tried a soft-reset? If so, a hard-reset may be the only option. I'd look into enabling button lock, or buy a hard metal case which will protect your PPC and also prevent the buttons from being pressed!
My mate killed his pda by sitting on it in his back pocket!
a hard reset fixed this problem, thanks!
Same Problem!
Hi to the list,
i have the same problem as Killer_Bit had.
I've done all the suggestions posted for this topic as making an hard reset but i still have the problem. Is there any other suggestion that can help me to solve this dam problem?
Any help will be really apreciated.
Ciao
Enzo.
Maybe take the battery and the backup battery out. This would allow the device to become completely inert. Maybe that would work. You can't do it any harm
I may be misreading this, but if you press for 3 seconds it will turn the backlight off. To turn it off press the off button quickly and release it.
I do sometimes get it where when I press the off button it takes a few seconds to turn off, but not all the time.
Hi Guys,
no way for me it does'nt want to work.
Last night i took off the battery for all the night so the backup battery could even be flat.
This morning i replaced the battery and retested it but it stiil won't switch off.
It switch on but not off.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks.

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM MATE!
Mine worked after a hard reset for about 1 day but nows it back to normal wont turn off but will turn on and dimm the backlight after a long press.
Also i have pda.02.co.uk trying to load up every second of the day! Could this be a button pressed in perhaps somewhere?
Cheers!
I had same problem with my Qtek9090, and i found solution.
Unfortunately it was hardware problem, and i had to disassemble whole machine.
Explorer and ok key was also not working, so i took them out and peeled film of from circuit board. There was some dirt and oxidisation undeneath button parts.
I cleaned buttons and assembled machine back and power button also started to work like before.
I believe that those buttos leaked current and affected also power button function on pda.
What ever it was, it´s working really fine now.
So if you are not inclined to take your pda apart, take it to the repair shop.
Cheers!

Hi ik8ozv and Killer_Bit,
A friend of mine has the same problem... I was wondering if the installed ROM has something to do with it or not... So write me please what kind of ROM do you have?
Also Killer_Bit, how did you perform a hard reset without using the Power Button? (Soft reset and Record and Camera button?)
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

tetriska
OK. Finally, getting somewhere. Seems like it is a hardware problem, needs cleaning... Is there's anyone else out there with a successuful cleaning/repair of similar problem?
Thanks.
Opening the device and cleaning the front buttons helped me too.
It seems to be the only solution.

I jus remove the battery and change the Sim Card.
The backup battery keeps it all in place until i get the main in.
As for the screen, there is no official "Shut down" unlike other PDA's, it just goes into a deep form of Hibernation.
thnx. i was thinking there was like a shutdown like in most celphones. this is my frst xda. thnx man!
i think its same with all BA.
i think someone should find its solution.
Turn all the radios off: like phone, wifi, bluetooth and activesync ect. basically everything in the comm manager.
Then press the off button, yes the LED blinks still but you only lose ~0-1% of the battery with 8 hours in this state.
Its as near as we can get to "off" but it will do
yeah...BA can't be turned off. It can only be put in deep hibernation since it does not have a hard drive.
ooops I did it again..sorry double post
Shutdown possible
A shutdown is possible of the BA in a particular situation :
Unlock the battery in the back of the BA while holding the battery for not to fall
Then lock it again : it remains shutdown.
Please note that this won't work if you have your BA plugged to your PC with USB cable. In that case, you have to keep the battery unlocked without locking it again, since locking it will turn it on.

1. I do believe that was caused by installed softwares,
2. try to remove all today plugins, wait 5 seconds, softreset, after 2 minutes (just to ensure
all processes are finished),
3. try to press the power button then again after 10 seconds, and see if that helps or not, alternatively,
4. try to remove the shortcuts fron the startup folder and try. If nothing helped, probably there is a confused registry. hard-reset for no choice(except you are expert in registry matters )
5. Remember to wait for 10 seconds before you reset the device after changes were made.
thanks everyone!! this problem happens occationally. SO i need a few days to see if the above steps work
Thanks for ur advice again though

my guess is no...
explanation:
if you say it switches offas soon as you put the battery in then how will it work?
You can use a pin, or a plastic toothpick end to slide around the power button to get rid of some of the gunk from the juice. I have used this method to get my button unsticky before. Just don't go too far in and use gentle back and forth rubbing motions.

How can I turn the note 2 on without the power button?

My power button is completely dead. Is there an alternative way to power the phone on without the power button?
Did you try presing home button and holding it ? Its only a wild guess.

You should get it repaired. Don't find any alternatives other than that.
If you're referring to simply turning the screen on then you can plug it in to a power source. But if you're referring to a complete but up then you have to get it repaired.

I dont think there is any other way except the power button. go fix it bro!
I was tired that my phone jumped on every time I took him out of my pocket. So I installed LMT pie, and changed the gpio-keys.kl file in /system/usr/keylayout. Now I wake up my phone with pushing on the home button. Must be root for that.
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 172 POWER WAKE
No power on, but just wake up.

I'm trying to figure out what is making my Note 2 power up at random points. It sat on a window sill in a very very shallow puddle of condensation, but it was enough to trip the moisture pads on the inside. I've been able to boot it up a few times, and for about 10 minutes after booting up, the power button will work normally. Now the power button isn't working at all. I already let it sit in rice for 48 hours. I also opened it up and reseated the power button. There was no detectable moisture inside of it when I opened it up. Also no water residue or corrosion. I'm not sure what triggers it to randomly boot up, and I'm not sure why the power button works for 10 minutes and then stops working.
Is it possible that there is a short in the power button assembly itself, or is this likely something shorting in the logicboard? Do you think that it's worth my time to try replacing the power button? I'd love to take it in for service, but the moisture pads have voided my warranty (only had it for a month).

This happened to me Today. After a lot of browsing, I was unable to find any working solution. (I have an USB Jig but it was not with me).
By mistake, I did the following and it seems to work: plugged the phone and while it started to display the battery (before it shows the %age of green battery thinghy) I quickly pulled the cable out.
This jump-started it and it turned on
good luck.

Mine is dead as well. What you need to do is plug the phone in to charge with battery cover off. When you see the battery icon charging, quickly, as fast as you can, remove the usb charger and then the battery and reinstall the battery... again as fast as you can. This makes the phone power on. It's like a jump start.
Figure it out
So I'm waiting for my power switch replacement to come in...in the meantime, you can plug in a charge cable...(have your battery cover off)...wait for the charge icon (battery with green bar)...as fast as you can pull the power, pull the battery put the batter back in...powers on. Here a video that shows it...I couldn't get mine to work until (this is weird) i pulled my pen out....but hey...I'M BACK ON!

by the way, the "insert usb -> wait for battery icon -> unplug usb -> remove and reinsert battery really really fast" trick doesnt work when you have had a firmware upgrade issue.
I need help with that. Just ordered a USB jig from ebay, but was hoping there was an actual fix for the power button.
Side note: i already replaced the physical button board & ribbon cable. That didnt help. Seems like something on the main board got fudged.
not a real fix but work fine with me...my way of modding to turning on my n7100
My n7100 accidentally make a dive into a bucket of soap water and its damaged the ribbon connector socket on the mobo....so even if i replace the power button its still cant turn on....after a few days stressed out life without phone suddenly i got an idea that when u connect the phone with charger it will flash out a battery image...every action that make the phone react like flashing a symbol must have a command file...so after doing some research i found out that every tw ui rom have one file that stimulate the battery image splashscreen.the file name is lpm....located /system/bin/lpm.
Wut i do is i first try rebooting my phone into download mode using jig.then using a pc and adb command i reboot my phone.using a file manager like es explorer i locate the file and back it up into my sd card first then go to the bin folder again i open lpm as text....next step u clear all the command word on the text editor.after that u copy and paste this command to their....
#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/reboot
Save the lpm file just like that..then set the file permission....then takeout ur battery n insert it back....after that connect a charger....ur phone will splash a battery image for while then it will automatically reboot yr device.so the trick here is u the device now set to boot automatically when connected to charger or usb...fair warning for those that are using this mod to not completely empty ur battery because without a fast charging it will reboot ur phone bacause lack of juice to run the os. ...any question about the diy mod is wellcome....
I have the same problem. What I come up with is this: I have firmware installed on my VZW phone but my power button is not working. I connect my Note 2 to PC, open Odin 3 and flash pit file to the phone, phone restart right away and working 100%. All you have to do is find the right pit file for your phone. I hope it helps.
