[Q] Button swap? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Urgent issue, somehow spilt fruit juice on my phone, still operates OK,
But, the power button seems to be stuck like its always being pressed.
The phone turns itself on as soon as I put the battery in..
Is there any way I can use another button as the power button instead?
I am rooted with unlocker bootloader..
Thanks in advance

my guess is no...
explanation:
if you say it switches offas soon as you put the battery in then how will it work?

You can use a pin, or a plastic toothpick end to slide around the power button to get rid of some of the gunk from the juice. I have used this method to get my button unsticky before. Just don't go too far in and use gentle back and forth rubbing motions.

I said the phone switches itself ON when I put the battery in..
Is there no apps I can use to change the button to the search one or something?

Tmobile Touch Pro 2 Screen Problems

Hey guys I was wondering if there was a simple way to solve this problem.
For some reason when i press the power key or just open up my phone my screen wont come on. I have to pay around with it a few times to actually make the screen come on. Has any1 else had this issue? If so how did you fix it?
Im using standard firmware, noting custom on my phone at all.
I don't get it man, you say you do press the power button and it doesn't come on? when I first got my Tmo TP2, I was baffled at how to get it on, but just pressing the power button at the top once was the only way to do it for me..maybe you're holding it down to long when you press? I'm not sure..did you do the upgrade to Tmo's official 6.5??

What about when you pull the stylus out when the screen is off? Same delay? If so, then the source of the issue is related to the phone's response, not the switch method (top button, slide switch, stylus switch).
Im using the updated window 6.5 and im not holding the power button to long. IDK whats wrong with it. As for when i pull the stylus out, i never really used that method to make my screen come on. I just tried it adn it worked. but im not sure if it will continue to work. I will use just that method for hear on out to see.

Yeah, I never really use it that way much (if ever)...but that's probably the best way for now to try to isolate the issue
Ive tried the stylus thing for a while now and like the power button it doesnt work all the time. Im not sure if the phone is just broke what.
Install process manager and list what processes and applications you are running...

Power button does not work...

Well... before realizing the problem was the power button/switch I read another posts about batteries, so i bought a brand new one and let the phone charge.
The thing is that the battery is at 100% and the only way to make the phone turn on is by taking off and puting on the battery and most of the times it works, not always. Then i get to the home screen and it turns off by itself. Only once i could keep the phone on without shutting down automatically. If I try to turn it off or on by the power button it does not respond. Any Suggestions?
Pls, not a single answer...

[Q] Power button

After heavy use of this 1 year old phone, my power button has like dugged into my phone and it's sort of hard trying to press the power button, so is there anyway to fix this without replacing the phone?

[HELP] Stucked in Hboot

My Desire has just came contact with water yesterday.
I suppose everything is fine.
Just that my volume rocker(vol. down) is stuck.
So whenever I try to turn on my phone, it will bring me to the hboot.
I can't even use the volume rocker to get me to the recovery
Is there anyway that I can turn on my phone?
Thank you very much
Can't you move in hboot at all (vol up?)?
Have you tried vol down + power + trackball to reboot your phone? (This way you wouldn't start the phone with power and vol down, maybe that's enough to boot into the rom.)
However if you boot into rom a whole new set of nightmares would greet you. Phone always silent etc. (Yet you might be able to use button remapper to assign "nothing" to that button.)
If I were you I would pop out battery and put the phone in slightly elevated temperature (white some free air movement) and hope it would completely dry out. That would probably enough to fix the switch. How long did you let your phone dry after "weting" it?
Stick your phone in rice with the battery out for a few days, then boot into Fastboot (back & power), and run a RUU. You can find one for your network from shipped-roms.com. Just make sure you download a Froyo one not an Eclair one.
Hmm, I've tried the rice method it doesn't work
I've left it for around 12 hours
I disassembled the whole and sever the volume circuit already :X
However.. it still doesn't work
It still forces me into hboot
I can't seems to get to fast boot either
It would be fine If i can gain control in hboot, so I can boot into recovery and boot into system.
I only want to save all my messages before.. dumping the phone :x
If there any other ways?
Thank you for the help

U can use ButtonRemapper (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464) to assign volume functionality to other buttons. This only works within the booted rom, however.

Hmm.. do you have any idea of disabling the volume button?
I'm not sure, what happens if you edit volume down and set state to 'none' in remapper?
Or you can try editing
/system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl
(needs root and system mounted as R/W)
and delete the characters after key 115 and key 114 (or maybe even delete both lines)
create a backup first (or if u use Root Explorer's Text editor it will create automatically create one before saving)
Oh, okay, thank you, once again, you have save my life!!
Tried the mapper, but phone keep restarting

Sorry for the trouble again :x
It seems that when I lock my phone, the phone will automatically wakes up
I don't think it is the power button, as when I'm using my phone, my phone doesn't auto lock itself...
It just auto wakes
Is there any app, there can find which button is faulty?

What rom are you using?
In BCM (CM9 source) there are two options in settings/display at the bottom in wakeup options section: volume rocker wake and trackball wake. If you have those, uncheck them.
Dont think so, using a sense rom

This would probably work if he didn't power the phone on - which he did. After that, damage has been done. In my liquid cooling my pc experience, if the short circuit happened, the game is over in 99% of the cases.

Can't start, can't access recovery or download

Okay. When I put my battery into my phone, the Samsung screen shows up. Then, it restarts, and I don't even make it to the Samsung screen before it restarts again and does the little vibrate it does when it starts. When I try to access recovery, it shows the default recovery screen for a couple of seconds, and then it goes back to what I said earlier. I don't even make it to the download mode screen AT ALL. And when I plug it into the wall, it shows the battery screen for a couple seconds, but then its just back to constant restarts. I have had my current ROM install for a long time now and I just want to flash the stock kernel to my phone. Is there any hope in me being able to get the stock kernel flashed through Odin seeing as that I can't even get to the download screen?
Sounds like a bad power button
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Would another sign of a bad power button be that before this happened, my button was SUPER touchy? Like, I would barely lay a finger on it and it would sense it.
I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT. I found a post and some of the signs are: Black screen with intermittent vibrating, unable to enter recovery before phone restarts, unable to enter download mode before restart, phone turns on when battery inserted. Looks like I need to take the phone apart. Thank you for mentioning it could be the power button.
Never mind. The Bandaid Fix for the power button did not work.

There are a few fixes suggested in the bandaid thread. I think one of them involves banging the button with a rubber eraser. Hopefully one will work for you.
I beat the ever living sh*t out of the power button with a screw driver out of anger. Did not help.

Well. It clicks, but the click isn't as... how do I explain this, as quick and CLICK LIKE? It just feels like there is a bit of resistance and it doesn't do a full intense click lol. If that makes any sense.
