Providing you are using the correct RUU for your phone then yes you should be able to downgrade without any issues. Bare in mind though that OTA updates will pop up asking you if you want to upgrade.

Just download THIS RUU and instal it, it should fix everything ...
Or you always can instal a custom ROM, there are step-by-step videos on youtube that you can follow if you cant see anything on your screen
When you reboot your phone to bootloader, do you have the same issue ?

i have the exact RUU on hand
and yes, strangely enough, in bootloader the screen is off as well. but i can navigate inside and go to fastboot and others...
i hope the RUU fixes it.
i also read on some other threads that the RUU that ends with .11, in which you previously mentioned, holds the key to fix all display-related faults...so if this RUU didn't work, next .11 RUU could be it?
thanks for your time!
hello
just got HTC wildfire today, and it is firmware 2.1-update1 baseband 13.51 kernel 2.6.29 buildnumber 1.06.xx softwarenumber 1.06.xx and browser version webkit 3.1
my problem is i think its not really a htc normal firmware rather a dev firmware (i think) because there is a icon called devtools. apart from that it doesnt have market, my apps, scenes in personalize option crashes if i click them, no weather etc widgets, no file browser, cant install any apps which are transfered from PC, if i download from web browser of htc it doesnt reconigizes the package...
in simple words cant do any thing more than the pre installed apps which are also not all..
please tell me whats the issue.. im a first time HTC user.. loved iphone wayyy better atleast it wasnt that complicated..
please tell me how to get all apps back and fix crashes
i tried software update option but it was stuck on checking for 30 mins... tried many times.. no luck
so also need to know any other alternative method
and what version can this phone can support latest that doesnt lag and is also good...
PLEASE help me guys
Thanks
just to add... my phone itself it fine.. i mean wifi, calls, sms, bluetooth camera etc everything is working.. i dont see any hardware issue.. all i see is software issue, so please tell me the solution..
also i saw HTC wildfire some saying its HTC BUZZ and some saying its desire mini.. what is it actually? i simply have HTC WILDFIRE

At first impressions I would suggest first trying a gapps flash, but let's wait.

His rom is booting per op so I would assume he can get into bootloader. It is the first day he has the phone. He hasnt asked about rooting so why not flash an ruu? Seems like the simplest solution to me unless he wants to root.
Ok,I know he didn't mention anything about rooting but do you know of any stock Rom that has devtools app !! No nor do I ,so I'm guessing he is on cm7. Also now with more info we can see that he has a strange bootloader,I've not seen before either.
So which ruu are you going to recommend with his hboot ?

Can you tell me what the front of your phone looks like? Under your screen you should have a set of soft buttons which are, home key, menu, back button and then a magnifying search icon button ? Under them you should have a round trackball button yes ?

Good point I don't know about that strange hboot. If he is s-on (which is unclear strangely) and locked to a particular carrier he will need an ruu with a cid that matches his phone. I would personally go with a froyo WWE Rom and see if he gets a cid error and if so try to find out the cid of the phone which I think you can do via fastboot.
It might be cm7 if the phone is second hand.
OP - from your bootloader screen, choose recovery (vol buttons for up and down, power to select) and tell us what it looks like. Also do you have an app called superuser in your app drawer?

It's kindly appreciated by everyone in the forum - those who seek for help and those who want to help - that you try your best. But please - before you suggest a RUU (which really could do a lot of harm in many cases) try to find out what's the problem, what hardware/software is involved, s-on/s-off etc etc - you mention it yourself: you have no idea about the HBOOT version - nor do I. And we already had that problem with a HBOOT version that looked at least similar to the known Buzz values - in the end it has been a bee and it looks like it's bricked due to an RUU...
Back to the topic: your latest suggestion was better

- power your phone off

- write down all the contents of the screen you get there

What are you talking about? an ruu is much safer than rooting and flashing custom roms. The ruu program carries out a lot of checks before flashing. It won't flash if the device id or cid don't match and it also checks the HTC signature before flashing. It is HTC's own software.
So is flashing an RUU not going to help? If not what do you think will help? The phone is not rooted, he cannot access recovery, I don't think he cares about root access so why risk it. He just wants to get his phone working.
Look back at the earlier posts if you want to see his hboot. It says buzz. And as said before if it is not a buzz, a buzz ruu will return a device id error.

That error pic isnt really an error but more a warning to say don't go any further, if you press vol up+power on that screen it should take you to the stock recovery i think. Not much to do in there though as its noobproofed........
Is it a desire a, i seem to remember some people from south america i think having problems getting root a long time ago on what was believed to be a wildfire but wasn't.
Check under the battery to see if it says desire a, I'll see if i can find a link to the topic if it is.
Edit: forget the desire a part i just found the topic and the hboot info is different to yours so i don't think its that. And hans is correct about ruu if it isn't a buzz or it needs a certain ruu it will give an error and stop the flash.

Anyway - and again: no worries - what I just wanted to say is: let's find out more about hard- and software and the problem before suggesting the stuff that is usually known as a last attempt. This is an Android forum - I personally don't want to see something like in all those Windows noob forums where the no.1 suggestion for all problems is: "format your drive and reinstall"...

Hey all
I recently unlocked my bootloader and s-off, but when I was setting up my HTC001 M9, I noticed this Red text in the legal jargon just after the first language screen. Is this text part of the legal setup we agree to, or is it because i debranded my M9, which is a full EE UK device bought on a contract.
You do have to scroll down to see it.. youll find it.. if you go into App drawer > setup Icon... dont worry.. you can just back up and come out of setup process.
Thanks

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have a question about this. Is this reporting software something to be concerned about for battery life/performance/privacy/etc. reasons? Other than switching to s-on, is there any other way to get rid of it, such as installing a non-stock ROM or deleting a file or something?
It's nothing to worry about. It's fixed by going back to a stock state.

In that case it should go away if you revert to stock and switch it back to S-ON or look here, but there is currently nothing you can do if you're on the latest WWE firmware as there hasn't been a custom aboot made for it.

This stupid, ugly error message is due to a non-stock kernel. As long as you're running a stock kernel, this shouldnt show up (atleast for me). I am currently running Viper10 2.7.0 and it doesnt show that message on startup. Now, if i go and flash elementalx kernel, that message will be displayed. The way to get rid of this is to either download a modified aboot image or modify it yourself via hex editor. There are simple instructions on how to do this for the htc m9, here on XDA. I dont have a link, but a quick search should be able to find it. Another thing you can do is download a modified aboot image from the link in the previous post and download the corresponding stock aboot image of the same version and use a program like "Beyond Compare" to load up both files and do a side by side comparison. It will show you exactly what was modified. Basically it comes down to just erasing the message in a hex editor and reflashing. Please exercise EXTREME CAUTION if choosing to do this. Aboot is a CRITICAL partiton which contains the bootloader. I would imagine if aboot gets flashed improperly or is hex edited incorrectly, the device is toast. Good luck!
