I recently attempted to repair my cracked front glass (touch screen was completely working).
I didn't heat the glass using a dryer or glue gun because I have seen a person doing a video on YouTube recommending not to heat the glue as it dries fast and it actually makes the glue harder to remove. Half way through the repair, touch was still working. Every thing was. So I got excited and accidentally nicked the screen. Since it wasn't working anymore (first white screen while I was doing the repair, then went half white/black, then when I turned it off/on again everything was black -- I could still receive calls) I decide to remove it altogether. Didn't know there was a hard to remove residue under it, but anyway I succeeded removing it.
I tried turning it on with the screen removed (also removed the connector to the motherboard) and I got a boot loop (felt vibrations again and again). Is this normal? I assume it is because no screen was connected. This is the current state of my device:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/114981610862902277332/albums/5848428825750128241
If you notice in the third pic, I also nicked a small part of the black portion of the back, where the circuits of the screen are placed. Anyway I want to ask if I can still purchase a $130 digitizer+screen replacement and attach it again, and do I need some kind of adhesive similar to the one I removed? Or is my device gone for good?
I'm planning to give this to my father if it can still be fixed.

Impossible to get support for Galaxy Nexus here in my country. I could have asked technicians or more hardware-techie people to do the job, but I figured based on the amount of people who did it successfully, I could have probably done it myself. Half way I was still doing good but got too excited so I broke it :/
Thanks
Edit: It seems the site you linked to does not have a screen+digitizer part available.
I've found the following parts on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-LCD-di...909?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c288bc915
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-D...846?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564c51c966
Is this the correct part? I still have the front glass part I ordered for my repair attempt, if these do not come with it.
Long story, but my screen is fully cracked and I need a new replacement screen. (Btw the screen and the phone work but I just can't use the touchscreen.) So is this the correct screen im supposed to get? : http://www.amazon.com/LG-Optimus-Sp...=8-3&keywords=lg+optimus+g+replacement+screen
I'm gonna be using these videos to replace the screen :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4uspcvx3f0 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xnfQDnAN7o Are these reliable enough? Has anyone used these videos before and it worked fine?
Also, what screwdrivers and any other tools do I need to fix the phone?

You should need a t5 screwdriver and make sure the lcd comes with double sided tape. Be very careful not to damage the ribbon when replacing it. It's easy to do. The back is really easy to crack as well.

Thanks. I dont think it comes with double sided tape. Is there a specific kind of tape I should get or just normal double sided tape?

If you look up lcd tape you should find some that should work fine (they call it 3m adhesive). I think 2mm or 3mm would be fine. Some lcd's also ship with it. One more thing is they have ones cut for the shape of the phone to make it easier, but they cost more.
I have the HTC ONE X White AT&T, but I'm stuck on on replacing the screen, every video I can find on the internet is for he black version, and I need help with one part. After the motherboard etc was out, I have to remove the screen, I did, but idk if I got the lcd part too, because it is much thinner than the replacement. there is like 3 layers of paper/plastic s and then a gray screen left. Can anyone help? I can send pic I really really need help I don't want to mess this phone up!
Update
I split the LCD in half it looks like, but the digitizer seems to not be working correctly is there a way to repair it? or do I have to buy a new one?
show some picture. DId you buy lcd+digitizer or only lcd?
it was the combo the digitzer cable (the connector) seems to be bad as it is very difficult to connect compared to the one that came with my phone, when it does connect the touch is very very slow and uncalibrated. Pictures are coming

IS there a way I can repair this?
I think you have a one xl (snapdragon) and not an international (tegra) version in which case it would explain why it doesn't fit or work properly.
If you do have the xl codename evita then you are also in the wrong forum my friend and should head over to the HTC one xl forum.

it says here that it works for both versions though http://www.amazon.com/Display-Digit...qid=1413140433&sr=8-2&keywords=HTC+One+X+AT&T. Every other product had low reviews, is there anywhere I can get a reliable screen replacement?
Pretty much every screen replacement says it doubles up with the HTC One XL. If anyone can help it is greatly appreciated.
can I use the old cable? somehow
Look here mate: http://www.etradesupply.com/htc/android-models/htc-one-x.html

Hi,
The LCD on the One X and the XL can be different, there is a Sony and a Sharp version which aren't interchangable, but the Digitizer should be essentially the same, as the connectors are identical.
That said, I have come across a dodgy digitizer that was brand new before, and it occasionally does happen. If you want to tell the difference between the sharp and sony version of the LCD, the sharp version gas a green backing to the LCD flex cable while the sony has an orange/yelloy backing to the flex cable, check the attachment i've posted, the one on the left is sony, the one on the right is sharp. It is possible that you have a bad digitizer, but i take it that the LCD works. If thats the case check the connector pins on the main board to make sure they are not damaged (do the same for the digitizer) if it looks ok, and the digitizer is still playing up, i'd try and get a replacement.
Hope this helps
Well I got the thing back together, but I have problems mainly that I'm getting no signal, lastly what thickness of tape should I get?
You may need to open it up again and check everything is connected properly and that it's seated correctly in its rear shell, as there are contacts on the mainboard that touch the antenna mounted inside the shell, hopefully the phone is recognizing the sim and network.
I'm not sure what you want the tape for, could you explain?
We used carpenter's tape, because the tape we supposed to be supplied with didn't come in and the customer is in a rush, I was just asking what should be the thickness of the tape etc
Sorry, I wanted to know what you were going to use tape for, if it was to keep digitizer stuck to frame, I'd use the smallest amount of instant adhesive, being careful not to allow it to run under the glass, where you would see it when you press it down
We'll the screen is almost sticking out of the case despite this being the strongest tape I've ever run into, so I'll guess I'll need thinner tape I just don't want to take everything apart AGAIN and retape. It's a pain to do So should I remove the tape and use glue? Or get thinner tape?
If it's for the back of the LCD get the thinnest double sided tape you can, preferably something reputable like 3m as this is what's going to hold everything in place, if it's the digitizer, I'd use adhesive the tiniest drop in each corner and in the middle of each side, then press until it sets, you just have to be careful as if you use too much it can run from under the glass, and be visible.
---------- Post added at 04:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:44 PM ----------
Just as a tip, you can get a replacement mid frame that already has the 3m tape on it, but I still like to put adhesive on the edges of frame where digitizer sits as sometimes the pressure of putting everything back in the shell can make it pop up.
Well upon taking it back apart the lcd, it got ripped like the bottom half of it is stuck to the tape the top half on the case and there are a bunch of white sheets etc in between them. now should I order a new one or can I repair this? its split in half, nothing is ripped. I'm about to just order a phone off amazon at this point.
You will have to get a new one, look at the videos on YouTube, there are plenty to help, but make sure you keep old one to change over as the phone needs to be turned on to do the LCD change. but if it's really damaged, you cash pick up a used one x reasonably cheaply, but the one m7 or m8 are great phones.
Have a Note 3 (T-Mobile) laying around in my house, ended up getting the phone smacked from my hands during a drunken rage, slamming to the hard wood floors of a hotel, and it basically destroyed the screen.
So, I see I have the option to replace just the LCD/Digitizer or LCD/Digitizer and assembly. For those that have needed to replace theirs, which option did you go with and who did you buy it from?
If your phone still functions and responds to touch all you need is the front glass and follow the YouTube video on how to replace if your actual screen under the glass is damaged you're looking at the lcd and assembly it'll be the easiest way to fix
Easiest way to fix without breaking anything is to get the front assembly with the LCD built-in already and then swap the inside parts over to the new LCD and housing. Done. The glass trick requires liquid crystal to go in the LCD screen which requires a lot of patience while removing all the glass from the intact LCD screen while heating it with a heat gun, which is capable of burning it and you all whilst trying not to crack the, thinner than eggshell, LCD screen, then put the liquid crystal clear UV protective glue on the LCD screen and then finally, just the glass. Oh and it needs to go under a uv light for proper treatment. Anything less will probably break in a month in uour pocket it was totally worth it both times I paid $160 for the whole assembly altogether and just swap out the inside parts. It is hands down the easiest fix, just not the cheapest. and replacing just the glass is far from the easiest fixedunless you just peel it off and slap another one on which was going to get broken as soon as anything pressure is going on in without that glue.
---------- Post added at 02:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:41 AM ----------
Ah... I read past part of the question. Get the assembly if the outside is damaged. if you gonna make it all pretty, then the extra 10 - $15and make it look factory refurbished. I just replaced mine last week and it looks brand spanking new.
I recently bought a cracked oneplus x in hopes of fixing and using it. So I went ahead, heated it up and took the glass off. This went fine. I set the heat around 90-100° C and the glass came off just like it would from any other phone. The display is only glued on on the sides/bezels unlike Samsung phones in which the whole panel is glued down. This obviously made things easier. To my surprise the loca came off pretty easily with some rubbing alcohol. Before removing the glass you have to take off the soft keys, which are glued to the glass. These are connected to the back of the screen assembly by a connector which you can see in the pictures. It was when I went to buy the part I realized I had made a mistake: I couldn't find any. So I am stuck with this for now, and if anyone knows where I could buy the glass please give me a link. Regardless, I hope this is informational and helpful to anyone who might want to attmept this in the future.

I was hoping to do a glass only repair with loca uv glue since the glass alone is substantially cheaper. Thanks, however, I atleast have that as a backup, since it is at a pretty reasonable price for an amoled panel, if it takes too long for the glass to be available.
till now .it seems only this site sell the oneplus x lcd display.it looks like a professional website and can be trust

Maybe you should go to aliexpress.com and the keyword is oneplus x glass screen

I bought the glass by itself, and I'm hoping that I would be able to recreate your result, so if you can tell me a bit more about the process that would be nice!
Did anybody get more details pics/instructions on just replacing the glass, mine arrived today and I would like to get it done?

Please any one suggest me how to replace only the front glass of one plus x
This is above and beyond being that the part for glass+LCD is like $30 on ebay.. Like you're risking the fact that the adhesive is like a little worse and a sunny day could easily destroy everything. If you're going to repair this phone, do the glass and LCD together.
Thanks for your reply...

If you only need the glass it is available on ebay :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Front...317149?hash=item235e06281d:g:DGgAAOSw6n5XwQUT
I have few questions, what did you use to heat up the display ? I don't have a heat gun, will a hair dryer do the job ?
Also are there any ribbon cables which I need to be careful about while doing the process?
Thanks in advance!

And since it has a super amoled. I dont want to take any chances.

Totally agree with all of you, I recently purchased just the front panel glass and really wanted to replace it, only for my local phone repair place won't do it without the lcd and digitizer... If someone can post pics or tell me if a hair dryer will do the job, I would give it a go myself
