The display edges come off in a well defined 3 mm frame. The separation is under the glass!
Started in the bottom edge, now getting around. Best to be seen on the attached picture.
Anyone else seen that flaw?

Yup a good few of us have it. I got a silicone case to hide it.
There are quite a few online shops selling them. Go for a black one as all the others are transparent and don't cover the fault so well.
Is there any hint how to solve it? Only screen replacement?
THX,
Sim
I have the same, started from the top.
Has there been any progress on this?
Mine started showing the same symptoms about a month ago. At first, it was just on the sides, just a bit, now I can see it on about 75% of each side and 100% of the top border, and has also started to show on the bottom side. I don't care much because one of the first things I did when I bought the phone was sticking a tempered glass protector, so I guess the protector would eventually prevent the screen from completely separating from the body. Anyway, I've just purchased a brand new Asus Zenfone 2 and the P8000 will rest inside a drawer. I might eventually give it to my girlfriend if her already 3 year old Samsung phone stops working in the future, so that's when I'll see whether it gets worse
Mine has started to show this in the top right corner of the screen - Moto G4 might get purchased soon. At least I can buy it in the UK and get a warranty.
My screens just cracked from the groove in case by earphone jack, must be a pressure point phone was in my pocket.
Not being too technical if I want to fix this can I just buy one of those cheap tempered glass screen £1-2 ( I think there just for protection though) or do I need full screen set seem around £40.
I'm with IM7 think getting Moto G4 plus, but shame bin the P8000 just for cracked glass screen.

Slowly but surely the delamination is spreading. Headphone socket is also now broken and unusable. Oh well - it was fun while it lasted. At least the huge battery works!
Last 2 weeks has been a pain without headphone socket - 1700 miles and not able to play Spotify downloads in my car, or listen to music relaxing by the pool. Add to that a rapid spreading of screen delamination that looks like it's spreading inwards further than before.
Dual SIM Moto G4 ordered for delivery tomorrow....
Can we do something about the screen delamination? My phone is still fully functional but it looks gross...

Hi,
I have got my One X for about 2 weeks now and there are multiple micro-scrathes on its screen already... (some of them are covering half of the screen). They are only visible when the screen is off and under certain lighting and angle, but it is quite annoying - I am worried how would the screen look like after a couple of months.
I am very careful with the phone and never keep it in my pocket with any other items. I have got HD2 previously for almost 3 years and with the same usage pattern its screen hasn't got a single scratch.
I suspect it is not Gorilla Glass that gets scratched, but some kind of coating (oleophobic?) on the screen.
Is your experience similar?
Dude there something with the screen. Its sh1t. i dropped the phone yesterday from my bed and on the right top of the screen there is a brake on the screen and some scratches too.I had Galaxy S and i dropped it several times and from higher position than bed and non a single scratch i dont mention the ****ing brake.i am already thinking replacing the digitizer .its a fuking new phone its not that i have problem with the broke as long my lcd is working but u know what i mean
was the swearing necessary?
replacing the glass is hard- the screen and lcd are apparently attached and spare parts are expensive, let alone the effort required to disassemble the phone (as the m/board etc are attached directly to the screen)
the screen is also laminated - maybe this coating is getting scratched? i don't know exactly what laminated glass is, just what it achieves.
Its necessary when they say Gorilla Glass should be Gorilla Glass. Its the same screen as galaxy s.Anyway i am afraid removing the digitizer would damage the LCD too by accident and the problem will be larger. so i am not quite ready to do that.i can live with a scratch
Sorry to hear your dramas with the phone.
I have mine now over a month.
I use a flip leather case now, but had none for the first two weeks and I use my phone a lot but with no screen protector and I don't have any scratches on it.
You must have hit something with sharp edges hard.
I had a SG2, never had a screen protector and was exposed as I didn't use a flip case. It never got any major scrathes, but hundreds of tiny ones that could be scene in the right light only.
This is a much better glass in my opinion.
Hope you are able to fix yours without too much trouble.
Cheers.
I too have many minor scratches, it does not hinder its use so I'm alright with it, I was but no longer using the HTC branded flip case that phones4u have me when I upgraded. Offers no protection and is clumsy to answer phone quickly lol.

I have noticed these micro-scratches too (funny I googled HTC One X micro scratches and this page came up). I haven't dropped my phone and I haven't put it in my pocket with anything else. At first I only noticed them in the sun, but now I can see them indoors as well. You have to turn the display off and hold it at an angle to see the scratches, but they are there.
Today i returned mine after 2 weeks it had a scratch in the midle on the screen and it was visible when the screen is off...
I hope they replace it i dont whant to have a scrached phone that costs 700 euro and is suposed to have gorila glass.
And i havent droped it or put it in my pocket with other items.

Are you sure they are scratches? I noticed something similar on my HOX the other day and thought I'd scratched it at first, but the whole screen seems to have that pattern and it's far too regular to be tiny scratches. I think it's part of the screen (digitiser?) as scratches wouldn't look so regular.
Think I have a few on mine now...not gonna get too beet up about it, it's only a phone and will probably be swapping it for something else in six months..... Which will probably get scratched too, lol.

Wow I'm really surprised when I read these posts
My story I had my one x in my pocket no case or screen protector and was in a rush for the bus and just chucked my coins in my pocket not realising it was the same pocket my one x was in and ran for the bus only when I went to get my coins that I realised my phone had been bouncing around with the coins in my pocket like a washing machine while I was running
Subsequently I almost scrapped myself thinking I've commited the ultimate sin I expected to see a crapload of scratches
To my disbelief besides a couple of light scratches on the polycarbonate back that just rubbed off the screen was fine I remember think what?! That can't be right and for the whole bus ride I was furiously examining the screen, holding it on an angle in the light to try and detect even the most minor of scratches and still found nothing ever since then I couldn't stop praising the screen on the one x
The camera lens was also scratch free but I'm thinking that was just sheer luck

Guys I am forced to believe HTC isn't using Gorilla Glass on all models.. I had the Thailand version and it scratched crazy easy. I now have the HTC ONE XL and i can take a key to it..
I have two minor (about 5mm in length) hairline scratches on mine. Inspected my screen at an angle with powerful flashlight just to barely notice them after having read this thread.
I'm not going to be bothered by those, but I am going to do an occasional inspection and if I notice a trend I'll put a screen protector on.
I have some screen protectors for the phone and even applied one, but tore it off immediately because the bare screen is much better to the touch and does not have that stupid rainbow effect the protector had.

maybe some problem from there not using gorila glass.
Get a screen-protector ! I did as soon as I got my phone, why risk it

Yeah, these are definitively legitimate scrathes, very irregular, there is no pattern.
They seem to get worse and worse every day...
A $2 dollar screen protector would have prevented this. Just saying.

I am tired of reading about problems in HOX. I start to think I have another phone no one x. I have it 1.5 month. I have no problem at all.
I am not using screen protector and case. Just a poutch.
Twice I had drop it from the base of the car and hit the screen in different places. No problem.
Usually I put in my pocket without the poutch. There is no scratch on the screen and polycarbonate.
See this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3ri6vrmPbc&feature=player_embedded
So I accidently broke my screen and the touch stopped working. Thought I buy a new one off ebay but there are so many of them and half is probably copies. Does anyone know of a legit seller?
I wish I had the answer for you. I'm in the same boat so I hope someone knows of a good supplier that can provide a screen with good quality. I've looked at many that are available on Amazon and eBay and it appears none are GorillaGlass and tend to break easily.
Has anyone had good luck with a particular part?

I ordered this one (link below) a couple of weeks ago. I looked at a few and this was by far the best quality I found. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is oem compliant.
http://m.repairsuniverse.com/oneplus-one-lcd-touch-screen-assembly-with-frame-replacement.html
It's like $45 don't waste money on the FedEx for UPS shipping. With all the bad weather they take longer than the post office.
Another thing luckily they sent me but its like a dollar to get another one is the black double-sided adhesive because you're going to have to take this thing apart more than you expect.
Ifixit has a pretty good tutorial just make sure to read it completely so you don't break a cable end.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/OnePlus+One+Teardown/26484
To the top left of the rear facing camera /top right of the ear speaker after you get the logic board out, pull out the little gray rubber square.
If you can, use a heat gun liberally. Don't try to half ass it and pry out the power button and volume button flex cables, you WILL break them! Learned that the hard way with the power button. In the event that you do, this was the store page for the power button flex I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hig...utton-Wire-Flex-Cable-Repair/32548508603.html
For installation, you won't find it online, but just use a soldering iron to melt solder off the broken flex cable, remove, and solder new flex cable.
Does this screen get close to the original brightness and color saturation?
I ordered one from ebay about 6 months ago and the screen brightness is about half, compared to my wife's undamaged oneplus one, and the colors seem pale.

I have two these phones so side by side with the stock display is it close to similar as you're going to get.
If you drop phones as much as I do, go for the tudia case. It's big bulky and feels like cheap plastic but it is probably saved my screen a dozen times this month, and their description is BS do put the thin tempered glass protector on it so it fits snug for touch
I bought my oneplus 3 about 6 month ago. About 2/3 months ago, i dropped it once from chair height which had full tempered glass and a thin cover (barely protects phone). When it was dropped, there was only a small dent or crack at the bottom left of tempered glass.Mobile worked fine without problem. I can't remember any other drop incidents with my 6 month of uses.
About 2 days ago i got a touch problem at the lower part of the screen. Especially at the left and right bottom corners where it won't register a touch. The phone was in excellent condition without any dents or scratches. There was not water spilling or any kind of water exposed. I claimed for warranty as it was for 1 year and they changed the display without any problem. Here where i live have local re-seller who sell oneplus products as we don't have official oneplus. All went fine but i am concerned about the built quality of this phone as it's already opened after 6 month. I have bought several phones in past and all worked fine even if i drop or used them for several years. This is the first phone i had problem with.
So i want to ask if any of you have trouble with this phone.Anyone had RMA and repaired their phone? i am thinking of selling it already as it's opened now. There is small rubber thing that is loose inside usb-c port. Usb-c cable plugs in well without any issue but i think rubber thing(maybe grip for water resistence?)will come of after sometime of uses.
i havent experienced any issues with phone so far. also dropped it once out of my hand, all good.
Yeah I had my display replaced and my entire back cover because the volume keys were damaged at the same time the screen shattered. I had it sitting on my lap as I exited my car and it fell face first on the concrete without any case or screen protector. I sent it off and had those items replaced and the phone is like brand new again. I haven't had any problems or quality assurance issues after having two main components replaced. If you sent it to the authorized repair center you have nothing to worry about. They did a great job. Good as new!
They even sent me a free case and left the screen protector on the new screen or installed one for me if it didn't come with one which was really awesome

My replaced screen too came with screen protected pre installed. Screen protector was better than original one when i bought the phone as it doesn't cut side of the screen as it did when i bought the new one. Thinking about applying tempered glass for better protection but the applied screen protector is really good as it covers side of the phone.
Hi everyone,
I am seriously considering buying the Moto Z2 Force as a replacement of my old Moto X 2014 (I still love it but my screen got a bit shattered one year ago:crying.
The only thing that is holding me back is that screen peeling problem I heard of. So, after reading some threads I would like to see how spread the problem is by proposing you this survey.
In case you had the issue, it would be very useful for me to know how you solved (got a replacement, removed the shutterproof screen protector, ...?)
Thanks a lot!
Here I am, replying to my own survey!
Unfortunately, not as I would like to...
I bought it and on day 2 I noticed this issue https://youtu.be/KfEjQWtvckQ which is how everything starts I suppose...?? So, I think this will be a "In the first month case".
Now I have to think of what to do:
Keep it and wait for it... (what then?!)
Send it back to seller asking for a refund => Buy another model, other brand (It would be really sad though)
Send it back to seller asking for a change with another one (what if the new one will have the same issue?)
Removing somehow the screen protector and the glue (any tutorials? Will it void the warranty?)
Any suggestion is much appreciated
Thanks a lot
I knot sure what that video was suppose to show. But to me it showed nothing of importance.. I have had my z2 Force for about 2 months with no issues.. Use a screen protector or a case with one, and you should have zero issues.

The video is supposed to show a problem with the shattershield screen where the outer screen protector lense is detached from the inner layer.
Some people on Lenovo forums reported screen peeling issue after experiencing something like the video shows.
On the same forum, some other people claim they had a screen protector on when the peeling started.
Anyway, I contacted Motorola Support and they:
Confirmed that if you remove the outer layer, the warranty is permanently voided for the whole phone... Not good
Suggested me to refer to the seller for a substitution since I am in the first two weeks after buying the phone
Still deciding what to do...
I tried the tempered glass screen protector I ordered.
It doesn't adhere correctly on the top of the screen but especially on the bottom, near the fingerprint scanner.
So, the screen is not perfectly flat.

Have the same issue and can hear that. But it seems to be normal. I can push in the screen a little bit. I think it's not the original foil of the top, which is pelling. I think it's hearable because it's plastic and elastic. I can see (by screen on) that's not the foil while I'm pressing the screen in. It's more the complete screen. Would it be the foil, I wouldn't see what I see by pushing in the screen. Plastic is easly elastic. That's all.
Here is an update.
Yesterday I received the other plastic screen protector I ordered.
It fits perfectly, since it's not as rigid as glass.
Since many of you have the same "clicking" noise while pressing the screen, I think I will try to use it in the next days to see how it goes. I have some weeks to think about keeping it or sending it back to the seller.
Hope everything will be ok, I'll keep you updated

It's not the foil, right? That's the plastic which is"clicking". I'm short-sighted and I'm pretty sure that I can see that's just elastic at the bottom. Looks so that the foil is ok and 100% save on the screen. But it's nice to have a elastic screen  No scratches after month. So, don't need a screen protector. The quality seems good. It's like wings of a airplane. Elastic, too And there is all ok, too. Normally

I am not sure it's the foil or not... However, I don't think is the screen which is moving, that's probably more a refraction effect. We should ask to those that removed the protection layer, if they where experiencing this and after the removal it stopped.
Foil or not, if the "clicking" sound is so common even in devices without peeling issues, I will give it a try.
I just need to use it, only time will say if it was a good idea to keep it :fingers-crossed:

Screen is moving down at the bottom, for me it's 100% so. And if I do it carefully, I can see it without hearing it. But yes, would be nice if anyone can test it without the foil. But, I can trust what I see, all real. So, it's the plastic. Hope anyone else can confirm this.
Another problem, what I have seen. I have burn in at the bottom. The navigation buttons keeps/burn in. Now I have set up the moto fingerprint navigation and it should gone next time. And that's really good. Works very well. And the space of the screen is now bigger, nice effect.
But, good to know with the burn in. This smartphones are made for a short time, maybe 2 years. On my computer monitor I have never seen burn ins like that. So, it's a market/business. Screen not made for working over years
And what really is very very good is the battery. Have last time good 8.5-9h sot. So, that's better than many people think.
But back to the screen. That's the topic here. Maybe we have to bring it to the repair center after 1.5 years. Maybe because burn ins, peeling and so on. We will see

What am I supposed to be hearing on my device lol? And idk I just personally call it a 2nd gen screen cause it's easier to explain it like that to the people that I live around in my area ??there not to bright lol. I do know it's not the original shatter screen stuff that was peeling. it honestly was pretty hard for me to understand what my moto agent was saying to me when he explained it so I only caught bits and pieces. My model number is still xt1789-04 TMobile variant. I don't have a clicker also

Looks like you haven't cleaned your phone since the day you bought it with all that dust on it. Get a microfiber cloth and Zeiss eye glass cleaner which is safe for all eye glass coatings so it also safe for your phone. Then put it in a good case. I use the 3 piece OtterBox Defender Pro which also comes with a holster. No case is just begging for disaster to happen the first time you lose your grip and drop that thing on the floor. If it's in a case there won't be any dust getting in the cracks because it won't be exposed.
Didn't buy a pretty phone to put it in a fat ass case.

Got the same gap on my S20 Ultra LTE Black version which I purchased yesterday :-
My S10+ also had same gap on exactly same location, Link of the topic : https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/help/gap-left-corner-s10-t3935197
So samsung also have bad quality control now.
This is the reply I received from Samsung :-
Of course he gonna say that's fine XD I worked for samsung customer care and we had briefings where they told us always to push the narrative that's it's fine so we get the least amount of RMA's.
I cannot fit a fingernail between mine, definitely not part of the design
There is a thick gasket inside there which will raise the glass.

So is it still safe from water and dust or ? I have noticed dust going in that gap but they are just stuck there. Been trying with the service center since few days for getting a DOA but there is a very low chance to get it. Even my S10+ which I bought last year had exactly same gap at exactly same location.. maybe something wrong with the manufacturing. Idk how they could manufacture two different phones purchased/manufactured in a gap of 1 year.

That's a generic answer that makes absolutely no sense. If that were the case than all the phones would have a gap.
If you can I would return it and exchange for a new phone.
I have no possiblity to return it to store and get a replacement. None of the offline authorized resellers for any smartphone brand in my country have a replacement policy. I went to the service center but they just sent the snapshots of the gap to their HQ for a RMA and told me that they will call me back within 48 hours with the response of their seniors, however I received no response from the service center yet, its been more than 72 hours. I had already sent an email to Samsung India CEO's Desk and they are following up my case with the service center but I think that it's all just their drama.. they are very reluctant to not issue a RMA for such an expensive phone. I wish I hadnt switched from Apple to Samsung knowingly that there will be 90% chance that all my Samsung phones purchased after 2018 had gaps.
Mine doesnt seem to have that gap or at least it is not as visible, i have black color - if your screen uniformity is acceptable i wouldnt risk replacing phone as you may get one with poor uniformity and that is then a problem
I looked at mine, also grey, it is not like yours.. the gaps is al the same, corners the side, bottom and top.
So I don't think yours is part of the design.
Maybe it wasn't enough to fail at there inspection but I wouldn't be happy with that.
Yeah it seems like that, + the black colour makes the gap look more wider. I have submitted my device to service center yesterday along with the box, bill and accessories. They said that they will be processing the DOA and issue me the certificate today to get a replacement from store. If possible I will try to get a Gray variant this time.
