Installing the unlocked HTC phones ROM on a branded device AT&T ? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello smart people,
Please I need to know if i can install an international /( unlocked) phones roms on my HTC one m8 demo unit ,i downloaded an official rom from HTC roms website and hoped it can help me out get out of the installed rom that i have on my device which is only a basic rom used for the demo units. first is there any risk to damage the device since its an AT&T device add to that its only a demo unit, without the need to root and flash the CID /MID plus the recovery app and all the steps that must be applied to get a custom rom on those types of demo units devices?
thanks a lot for any one that can help me out on this problem .

Download one of the Nandroid backups and restore it via TWRP, shouldnt matter so long as its for your version, mines an International Europe version and i restored a Verizon rom on it, it worked fine with Gsm, just had issues with sound and the HK sound in particular.
Or you could always try the custom roms.

UK - HTC One M8 from Three - Flashing vanilla stock

Hi guys,
Long time iPhone user converted to android with the new HTC One M8.
I have recently purchased the HTC One M8 from my local Three store. Now the phone has a three splash screen and limited bloatware.
I understand that updates to android can be delayed as they are pushed via three.
What would be the general procedure to flash/update the phone to:
1. Remove three splash screen and associated bloatware to keep it as if it was bought simfree.
2. Would the current custom roms available achieve the above and be compatible with UK handset?

Hi,
i'm also on three, should receive mine on monday so I can't confirm for certain. But if my memory serves me correctly, the cid and mid must match the stock rom that you are trying to flash. So at this time you won't be able to flash the newest unbranded stock firmware. This will require s-off. However i can highly recommend unlocking through htcdev and flashing a custom rom. Android revolution hd is an excellent choice for your htc device and will be fine on your handset.
Hi pheonixsingh, I also have a HTC One M8 from three. I can confirm that flashing a custom ROM will remove the three splash, remove three applications and shortcuts, the phone is fully compatible.
I'd recommend you flash without delay!!!

Thanks for the prompt replies!
I think I will go down the route of flashing the custom rom, however I still have some questions about future updates to the custom rom, how would I go about updating my phone?
My biggest concern is everytime I have to update I may lose my data or personal setup as I will have to wipe the phone and install the new version? Is this the case or am I misunderstood and updates can be done via PC/OTA whereby all your personal apps/settings/data is intact?
When updating ROMs, on most occasions you can retain your application data by not formatting the user/data partitions. However when the changes are significant the author may recommend a full wipe.
The first time you root and install a custom ROM, you will lose all data on your internal sd card so back everything up on your PC or external SD card.
After you unlock (S-OFF) your phone for the first time you will never be asked to format your sdcard, which contains camera pics or any other files you've placed. You'll only lose applications which you can download from the play store again. For me it's never been an issue when I owned a Nexus 4 and 5 I used to hop between ROMs daily.

I
I have one of these on 3 the only thing is the splash screen. Any idea where I can get a copy of the stick firmware
The custom firmwares are all well and good, however when a new base comes along, which happened often on the One (M7), carrier phones i.e. 3, would sometimes need to wait for them to issue the official update, as the base firmware is different on the WWE rom. Hopefully we will have S-OFF soon and then that won't be an issue for a lot of us.
I have come from Samsung and the nexus. So is it not as simple as flashing the stock unbranded firmware

[Q] 16GB Optus (Aus) Version of G3

Has anyone here used it?
I was wondering what firmware etc it was on as i get one this Saturday. I'm also assuming we arent lucky like the t-mobile version and have an unlocked bootlater as default? I Have always been addicted to flashing roms haha, been doing it since the HTC Dream (I.e the G1) days with jesusfreke root.
Having come from a Nexus 4 where it is easy to return to root/relock the bootlader if you need to send in for a warranty, What is it like for the G3? If i put TWRP on there and something hardware wise goes wrong, is it easy to relock etc? I have read about the LGFlashtool but notice a lack of availability of the Optus Firmware to use as a backup
Cheers

[Q] Installing ROM

DEVICE HTC one X
Android version 4.1.1
HTC Sense 4+
Hello XDA World,
Wonder if someone can help me. Recently I tried to install a custom ROM of KitKat on to my android device. It got stuck in a bootloop and did not work. with restoring my backup somehow got curruptted or I made a mistake along the way and got a new handset.
The problem I got is this, with my new handset its running the software noted above. However, when I had my old handset it was running 4.2.2 and sense 5. If I do a check software updates its says my phone is up to date. If i go to HTC dev site they say 4.1.1 is the latest I can have, but other networks have 4.2.2.
If I install one assigned to another network, would affect my phone and network connection?
On a side note is there any other recomment custom ROM's to get a newer version of Android that would work on a HTC oneX.
Many Thanks for any help possible

Has anyone rooted a Bell Canada HTC 10?

Hi everyone,
I've been researching for a couple days and I'm pretty much ready to root my phone. I have the Bell Canada version. All I want to do is unlock the bootloader, root it, and install Xposed. From what I can tell, I shouldn't have any problems. But I've been seeing a lot about the radio not working, and I'm concerned I might be screwing myself since there is no RUU for the international version of the HTC 10. Which means, as far as I can tell, that if I screw up my phone there's no going back. I haven't seen many threads addressing specifically the Bell/international version, so I want to be clear before I try anything. I have much experience rooting phones, but I'm new to HTC and it seems much more complicated and risky.
So I have a few questions:
- Has anyone successfully rooted the Bell/international variant of the HTC 10 without issues or radio loss?
- Further, has anyone gotten Xposed framework working?
- Is there a way to revert the phone back to stock/fully functioning in the case that the radio stops working or some other problems arise?
Thanks in advance.
I plan on getting one soon and root it. Would be fun to know if someone did it already.

Were you guys able to root and/or flash a ROM on the Bell model?
I am running Leeroid ROM on my Bell HTC 10. Very easy. Unlock bootloader, install twrp with fastboot and you're gold
Xposed works great too. Never had an issue with radio since rooting. I do have a minor problem which only started happening since i removed the rom encryption and my lte wont work until i go into mobile networks and reset apn to default. Once i do that my lte works like normal until i reboot and have to repeat the 10 second process.
And you can always save a twrp backup of your stock ROM if you want to go back.
sweet, thanks for confirming! Did you manage to get a Sharp display by chance? I have a feeling that literally all of the Bell ones are of Tianma.
Bell user here. I'm on stock rom with latest update with some mods. Phone runs pretty good now,
1.90.666.4 OS
Sunshine > $25 dollar paypal (S-OFF)
TWRP for recovery
AcoustiX_Audio_ZeroInfinity_v30 (make speaker louder)
ElementalX-HTC10-0.25-Sense (Plus $3.00 EX Kernal Manager Paypal)
Tweaked_pnp_thermal_ivicask_v19
I've rooted my HTC 10 using sunshine. I'm currently on Leedroid's ROM.
As anyone successfully restored to stock? I need to do so to unlock. I want to use a different SIM.
There was a bell ruu somewhere around. Just run that and you'll be back to full stock.
Do you have a link?
No but @xunholyx might be able to help
I have the 2.41.666.3 RUU. You can download it here.
Thanks a lot. I also need a stock recovery. Is it included?
Yes. RUUs always contain the stock recovery. They restore everything to stock. Also, it will wipe your phone, so backup anything you don't want to lose.

Issues with HTC 10 from AU / KDDI in Japan

Good morning,
I've recently moved to Japan and purchased an HTC 10 from AU / KDDI. The version information is as follows: CID KDDI_801, MID 2PS670000 / htc_pmeuhljapan. This is my first time dealing with a non-US phone. I've unlocked, s-offed, etc and installed CyanogenMod on my US HTC phones. I've managed to S-OFF / Unlock the AU phone. However, I was unable to root without TWRP or backup the stock recovery. So I flashed TWRP onto it, rooted and that whole deal without issue. I've also backed up my System Image / Boot.
This broke my OTA updates (surprise surprise) but I found an update here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/htc-10-au-japan-ota-zip-file-t3490829/page2 and attempted to flash. I cannot flash the entire zip file, however, my phone will take the firmware file within. This seems to update the firmware from 1.28 to 1.95. However, this breaks the phone's WiFi (WiFi won't see any networks), but seems to re-install stock recovery.
Still, the OTA updates failed. So I reflashed TWRP recovery and restored my backup. WiFi works just fine again. After I restore the backup it says OS-1.95.970.4 in download mode, however, in the OS itself it shows the old build number 1.28.xxxx. Does anyone have an applicable copy of the stock recovery I can throw on there and attempt to get an OTA update? If not, would international ROM's work with this phone or do I need to find Japan specific? I know they have some of their own bands so I'm not sure of compatibility issues. If you need any additional information please let me know. Sorry if any of the questions / circumstances seem ridiculous, again, I've never had to deal with a non-US phone so there's a bit less information available.
i also use htc 10 of Au japan, can you upload an stock or backup of stock of it. my phone cant boot now
is this phone water proof?
