Hi guys,
Planning to get a One M9 refurb from the Internet.
However, I do not know if I am getting an Asian/US/European version.
This brings me to my questions:
1. Is there such a thing as a US/European/Asian version? It appears like all regions use the same hardware (from my limited research)
2. Can I cross-flash Asian firmware on a US or European set? I will probably need an Asia WWE / South East Asia ROM.
Thank you!
The main difference is cdma and gsm. If you keep the phone stock you'll want one for your region so you can accept ota's. Otherwise.. Cdma and gsm..

Hello,
I bought HTC One X and found out it might be the African version somehow. The languages I have are English (Angola)/Nigeria/South Africa with not international or US versions.
How can I flash the international version/software/rom/locale...?
I have no idea what to do, I just wanted the international version, can I change my phone's software so it becomes identical to the international version?

Can't without S-OFF
I just got my HTC One X and it came with the Asia Region Firmware. I live in the US and I am wondering what Firmware is the most updated and also where I can find it.

Assuming you're on the Asia WWE version, the latest would be 1.29.707.11. Get it from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604
I am running that firmware and it's full of Asian carriers bloat apps like Singtel and telkomsel. Is there a way to get rid of it without rooting?

I've got an unlocked, unbranded Australian One M8 (HTC__039) but I'm not getting any updates to Lollipop. I've installed all the updates but the latest has kept me at 4.4.4 (Sense 6.0, Software 3.32.710.9, SDK 6.25, build 3.32.710.9 CL397296 release-keys) and saying there's no further updates. I'm not S-OFF so I can't change my CID to apply another OTA and I want to update before I start using it and have to reconfigure things again after the update. I was under the impression that HTC have released Lollipop for all unlocked variants now?
Am I doing something wrong or have HTC not released an update for my CID yet?
Your phone is Vodafone-branded, hence no update yet
It's not Vodafone branded. Vodafone branded ones carry a CID VODAP*** this is HTC__*** which are the international variants.

Well, not sure why it's listed on the Vodafone Australia support site then...

But no, it's not the European unlocked so no update yet...
No ota update
Hello,
Can some one help me out or at least try.
I have installed the stock ROM of KitKat 4.4.4 3.28.401.9 from the links provided on my HTC ONE M8. I have stock recovery, unlocked bootloader, S-ON and non rooted but I cannot receive any update of the new software Lollipop. Is there an app or something else that is blocking the update?
3-4 days ago when it was released in Europe, I have managed to download the update from the phone, but I couldn't install it because of some error. Then I decided to wipe the system and install the stock rom again and now ... no update what so ever ? Any help ?
Thanks a lot!!!

Vodafone just happen to have the latest version too. It's still not Vodafone.
I did contact HTC Australia today and it IS an unlocked Australian version, but they advised they have not released the update to Australian customers yet and HTC Australia have not been told by HTC HQ when the release will be available
Seems a bit of a poor effort to me - The phone is the same and it's unlocked so why shouldn't all unlocked variants get the update at the same time???

It's probably a network unlocked phone but taken from vodaphone. The software number does prove it comes originally from vodaphone.
Any news?
Hey guys do you have any news about Lollipop Update for the HTC One M8?
I've got an Australian factory unlocked version and in these days I checked so many times if there was the Lollipop OTA but nothing appears... Is it normal or something is wrong?
I'm worried now, I was wondering if someone of you could help me or give me more informations about it.
Thanks for your time
Hello.
I read a guide on how to convert anything to a Developer Edition device running Lollipop. I noticed something interesting: y'know that the WWE M8s are all SKU 401? Then why is the Developer Edition 1540? The CID is different too: WWE ones all start with HTC__ (e.g HTC__032) wile the Developer Edition is BS_US002? So what is going on here and why is the Developer Edition M8 different from the WWE one?

They're sold as different phones and need to be identified as such. Different updates come downstream for them. Basically the same reason my Rogers HTC One has yet another CID/MID, as do the T-Mobile, Orange, Telus, O2, etc.

OK, I get why there carriers have different versions. But isn't the Developer Edition pretty much the same as a WWE Unlocked one, just with an unlocked bootloader? And if the bootloader isn't unlocked, why does it even exist?

There are different ROMs. Yeah, they're probably almost identical, but not quite. I doubt I can get more specific than that... maybe they have different APNs installed? Possibly different levels of bloatware? It might just be that the dev edition gets updates first, so customers can pay extra to have a phone that updates a week or two before their WWE/Carrier counterparts.
I'm pretty sure the bootloader comes locked on the dev edition, just like all the other phones, and you have to unlock it at htcdev.com. I might be wrong though.
Are you facing some sort of technical issue, or just curious?

I'm just curious. I have heard that Developer Edition devices with CID BS_US002 ship with an unlocked bootloader. So, there is almost no difference, just HTC trying to sell it?
x.xx.401.x is the European ROM build, not World Wide English (WWE) as it used to be (which also used to be x.xx.405.x when it was WWE but that's going back a few years)
The US Developer Edition is their version of the EU SIM-free handset but has a different software build, CID and MID and has different radio frequencies so not all 4G bands are covered for EU use. It also only covers a few languages as opposed to the EU languages covered in the EU SIM-free version

Ok.. So .401 is the EU unlocked version, . 1540 is US unlocked with CID BS_US002 also having the bootloader unlocked (BS_US001 only has SIM unlock). Am I correct?

Yes, the US DE comes with the bootloader pre-unlocked. The EU model is supplied locked but can be unlocked via HTC Dev
I owned a htc m9u just gave to me by my relatives abroad. forgot what country he's staying.
my question is, is there any significant diffirence with the variant m9u between m9 when it comes to hardware and with updates release by HTC?
my device is running android 5.1 . SN# 2.10.709.1.
the ota always tell the my system is up to date.
Hope someone will clarify this up. Thank you!
The "u" just stands for unlocked. The only difference between that and other M9 models are the frequency bands they're compatible with. Also, the Developer Edition comes with an unlocked bootloader.
Parts M9u for M9
