I am planning on buying a Lg Nexus X5 and I do not understand the difference between the two models. Both seem to be black, both seem to have 32 GB storage. So what is the difference? (Context: As a former HTC One S user and considering recent trends e. g. in SSD-production, I am suspicious about differences in products, that for most people seem to be the same. HTC One S was delivered in two models with different processors and nobody noticed until you went to xda ...)

Hi all
Which WP7-devices will come this fall?
Only rumours yet, or already real devices?
Thanks

I wonder which ones will be making their way to Verizon. I love my trophy, but it's such a low end phone. I would like some a bit more powerful from big red. Too bad they have an odd relationship with MS.

wp7 doesn't need extreme high end hardware to work well like android does (and still doesn't work as smoothly as wp7)

True but it would be nice to have some higher end phones on the CDMA networks. The HTC Trophy and HTC Arrive are nice phones but I would like to see an HD7 style phone or a Samsung phone. I'm getting tired of HTC's use of subpar screens and cameras.

I agree, it doesn't need extreme hardware, but at the same time. There's quite a few people out there who are sold by keywords like dual core & GHz. If a sale person shows you a 1 GHz 1st gen SnapDragon (WP7) & a 1.5 GHz Dual Core latest retail gen SnapDragon (2.5 GHz Quad cores aren't too far away), which do you really think the average person will choose if they don't know anything about either WP7 nor Android.

the arrive and trophy both have SLCD screens and it was proven that there's only a minor difference in quality between SLCD and AMOLED. as for the cameras all the pictures and videos I've taken have had pretty good quality.

Super AMOLED Plus screen are far better than SLCD. There's a video somewhere to puts both side by side & SLCD is nowhere near as good. The SLCD looks like it has a grey washout over the entire display. I still do prefer HTC's though for other reasons.
Sadly, most consumer are clueless about advantages & disadvantages of different OS's & that no 2 CPU's are the same. Perfect example is a 2 GHz AMD is not as fast as a 2 GHz Pentium. The AMD does usually give better performance for your buck though. So, in the end they look at the hardware specs & prices. Of course they'll pick the more powerful one when both cost basically the same (retail). The Android Dual Core may even be cheaper, because of contract pricing deals. Sadly, this is one of the main reasons that WP7 is doing sad bad on sales. I say, MS, why not just make it latest gen Dual Core compatible. Sure it don't need it, but imagine how fast it'd be. Not a damn thing would lag, lol. You wouldn't be able to keep up with it lol. Also, we need 4G LTE. I know it supports it. The icons & registry are in there. It's that the hardware doesn't support 4G LTE.
Not sure if this is the right section to post in as I have a slightly off topic question.
I'm looking to replace my desire as I have had it for nearly 2 years. The natural phone to get would be a sensation or galaxy s2. But these phones are too big, I don't need a 4.3" screen.
So I'm after a phone that is similar size to the desire but with a higher spec such as dual core and 1gb RAM.
So far, I found a Motorola atrix which meets my requirements, are there any others?
Thanks

One of the high-end Sony Ericcsons? I would stay with HTC though.
I would definetly stick with HTC. If you don't want Sensation (which is the best choice now imho) maybe Desire S/HD could be fine. Im just not sure if they have dual-core processor,
To be honest the list is very scarce...but I found a few phones that might meet your criteria.
Motorola MOTO XT882 and T-Mobile G2x have similar specs. They are both dual core phones, display size for both is 4.0 inches. In terms of internal memory both have 8 GB storage but 512 MB RAM.
As a wild card, there is LG Connect 4G MS840; that ticks all your boxes and will be released next month. However, is only CDMA device.
I am due an upgrade in the summer. Ironically, the bigger the better for me. The desire is on the small side and quite old now.

Thanks for the reply, as you say there is not much available. If the atrix gets a working ICS rom, i will be getting that phone.
Wait for a proper Desire successor, just like the majority of us!
Guys I'm thinking of buying this phone since it fits within my budget of 350 euro. However I'm doubting a bit due to the warnings about the S3 chip that is supposed to deliver half the power as the S4 chip from qualcomm.
I'm not a heavy gamer and although the screen and camera seem to be a huge plus these are not my most important criteria. Preferably I'd like my phone to last and be as quick and responsive on regular tasks at least 2 years from now.
The phone I'm drawn to is the HTC one S, since it features the S4 chip and Dual Channel Ram. I like the thinner design, but I absolutely do not like the stupid recent apps kinda button that replaces the menu. Who thought of that?
Anyway, the price difference is about 55 euro's. The HTC being 40 euro's over budget. Would it be feasible to invest the extra money based on my main concern? Or would you not even think of the HTC as an alternative?
Nexus 4.
Simple as that.

I wish.. Although I completely disregarded the Nexus 4 due to the fact that it's the recent phone from google and thus expected it to be far beyond my budget. Main problem appears that I won't be able to order it through Google, since it is not available in the Netherlands...
I have the one xl the one s's big brother
If the recent apps button is your main concern its not a problem most custom ROMs should have it remapped to menu and on the on xl the latest update from HTC made it a stock option in settings to remap it. I'd check on the one s forum I'd bet it is the same as the one xl is.
Oh and by the way this should be in Q&

You could try getting the HTC One XL or LG Optimus 4X HD. Both are pretty good phones with decent specification akin or even better than the Xperia S. The HTC One XL has a larger screen size and the LG Optimus 4X HD packs a powerful quad-core processor which beats even the likes of the HTC One X. All 3 retail for around the same price in my country. Not sure about yours.

After having read the comments I've managed to order a Nexus 4 through Germany. I'm very curious and anxiously waiting till it will arrive
Thnx for the tips guys!
Just curious if any of the lower priced brands out there can match the G3 (or come close) to specs. I wasn't even thinking of the lower tier products until I was in a computer store yesterday and saw the BLU brand in person. I never heard of it before so I started looking into it.
Let me just say now that they have the WORST website design! I think they have about 30 different models and its so hard to differentiate between them. I have no idea what tier levels they have (high end, low end, speciality, feature...ect). Its a absolute mess. Not only that the the specs vary wildly, eg: "High end" LTE enable phone has 720p display, good display model has dual sim capability and 1080p display yet 4GB storage.
OK, well my search gets better from there. Next I looked at Huawei. Lot of nice phones but pricey, some coming close to the G3 price, and a lot of their LTE models aren't compatible with TMO USA.
Xiaomi look nice, but they have like 3 phones in their entire lineup (exact opposite problem of BLU) and none have LTE.
Finally I thought I found solace in the OnePlus until I got to the part about getting an invite.... WHY... WHY!
Sorry for ranting on. Is there anything else I am not counting.
Hi guys I want your thoughts and concerns about the new nexus coming up. I am eagerly waiting for the upcoming Nexus devices and I would like to know If anyone else is going get them as well?
I really don't have any "concerns" per se, since almost all the info out there is just rumors. I don't even think its been fully confirmed that HTC is making the 2 Nexus devices, but its a pretty sure thing, along with:
- HTC is making two Nexus devices, Sailfish and Marlin
- Both will have Snapdragon 820, and similar internal specs (same RAM, camera module)
- The 2 will likely have different price points
- Some leaked images of prototypes
Other than that, we can only speculate. I'd probably opt for the higher price point device, and not interested in a plastic/polycarb body (as one is rumored to be, the other aluminum).
Beyond that, if its the usual HTC quality, but with Nexus benefits (direct updates from Google) than you can count me in as "interested" but obviously going to wait until release and reviews before even coming close to any decision on getting one.
I'm among those interested as well, but I'm not a sure sale. The leaks do look promising, though.
I like HTC hardware probably second only to Samsung, so I'm thrilled to hear that HTC will be making both 2016 Nexus devices. I, too, will probably go for the bigger, metal-bodied, variant if I decide to upgrade, as I actually like my phone to have some heft (and I want the larger 5.5" display). I have had excellent service from my M8, and I expect the HTC manufactured Nexus device will be no different.
That said, I'm not thrilled about a return to bottom-firing speakers (something I've grown to love about my M8), and while I haven't removed the SD card in my phone since I installed it, having a separate storage device during upgrades/mods is a factor. I could live without it, though.
Price-wise, the bigger "marlin" will probably end up being about the same price as the 10, though upgrading it to 128GB will no doubt shoot it over.
The real advantage of the Nexus devices is that they are directly supported by Google, which means no waiting on updates and patches. ROM support is virtually guaranteed, as the boot loader is readily unlocked directly from the OS. (no websites/software required, like HTCdev or Sunshine) However, I have to admit that there are actually Sense features I really like, and which are missing in generic Android. It's a tough call.
