HTC m10, or just "10".
I am surprised to see no mention of the m10 on the forum yet. Do we foresee it to have as large of a following as the m8 and m9 had possibly?
I've been with HTC since original EVO 4G. What other premium Android phone have former HTC users moved on to? One Plus? Elephone?
The M8 made its name for being so developer-friendly (there was a Google Play Edition) and being a quality piece of hardware. The M9 rode that wave of popularity, but failed to deliver on the developer side and raised doubt as to the hardware quality (the Snapdragon 810 heating issue).
The M10 could be a great phone, but it has some lost ground to recover.

No it is not. I just clicked on it.
For some reason it only works in a browser - the XDA app returns an error about a bad link.

So as we all know the Galaxy S3 is due to be released this month and is the One X's primary competitor. Seeing how much support the s2 got in the development section, I'm starting to wonder whether the one X will slow down in that regard with development for the s3 being the main focus on XDA or do HTC devices have a good following?

No need to waste time with a useless reply. My question was a serious one since i prefer having variety when it comes to how i can use my one x.
Thanks for the effort...
P.S. if you look at the GNexus forums you'll see that there isn't much going on there compared to what there should have been etc.

Maybe he doubts the seriousness of your question because asking on XDA if an HTC flagship device is going to have strong developement section is like asking the Vatican if the pope is catholic.

Yup, One X hasn't been long and theres bunch of activity already in the development section.
SGS2 has crazy development support? Lmfao and my friend has it, he's too afraid to "root" and screw his device. Tsk Tsk, he's losing alot

Lol, I don't mean to be an Arsehole.
It's just you could have had a look around the HTC development section and then the Samsung Development section then come to your own conclusion.
Samsung has their Devs, we have ours, and a lot of the HTC devs have moved on to the one X, plus it's only been out 4 weeks and we're already seeing good development.
The only issue is not having S-off or kernel source from HTC.
Development will be fine, take a look at the other HTC phones. They are just as popular as the Samsung counterparts. Once S-OFF is achieved and kernel sources drop watch the place buzz.

Just have a quick look at the Sensation forum here. From a sales point it was less successful than the S2, but look at the number of actively maintained roms. Not to mention the number of posts in the top threads (68k on revolution for example ).
There will be enough dev interest for HOX for quite a while, but that's just my guess.

Hahahahahaha! Priceless! And also there are 1 BILLION chatolics on earth
I honestly think that the HTC is better! The camera blows the GS3 away.
And honestly when I saw the specs I was very surprised and disappointed, they basically used the same specs as the GS2 but with dual core and some silly finesses.
Ok the battery is large but the difference is not gigantic to 1800mah (HOX batt).
I WOULD still buy the GS2 over the GS3 as I do no see much improvements on the GS3... And if I own an HTC One X then forget about it.
I would just like to see the picture compression change on HOX and not be limited to 3MB.
Peace.
OKAY, so I was shipped 2 models, wasn't sure why, anyways Rogers wanted me to ship one of them back, I did so. All is well for about 2 weeks, now I've been trying to root it, and I managed to get to the bootloader and some other things, but while I went into recovery it just said 'This build is for developement purposes only Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permission. Failure to comply may result in legal action' and it wouldn't start up into the recovery to get to superuser or whatever. It just had a logo with that on it... Is this my cells problem or could it be a problem with the recovery? Thank you in advance!

None of these here in these forums. They are for One X international version. You should check the HOX AT&T forums.

Found it Thanks.
Just picked this up today. Nice handset. Is it possible to root this device and install a custom ROM. Only seen the forum for the Telstra Australian version.
Im running the stock firmware, thats is:
Android 4.0.4
Software number 2.34.61.2
You have the dual-core one xl ....then you are in the wrong forum this is the quad-core international HTC one x forum
Check the specifics and be really carefull flashing stuff from here, a brick could be just around the corner !
That's why i'm posting ... it's not clear whether the other forum is exclusively for AT&T, Rogers and Telstra. Not touching anything till I find a ROM or process that supports it.

I've recently fitted a new camera module, ordered from an Aliexpress seller to a M7. Generally it is OK except that the auto focus doesn't work. The camera is actually for a M8 (part number 13P1BCA403) and has an adapter attached to fit the M7 connector.
Does anyone know if I need to install M8 lib files to make this camera work properly in the M7?

There are files in the libs folder with 'camera' in the name. Some of the files in an M8 ROM are different in name and size to the ones in a similar M7 ROM.
I was hoping that someone would say it is OK to copy the M8 files to the M7 libs folder.
I can't change the focus at all. It is reasonable for distant views, but anything closer than say 2 metres the focus is rubbish.
It's possible that the camera is faulty, and I am currently in correspondence with the seller about that.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think that it is just one file as there are several camera related files in the /system/lib/ folder. If necessary I can move or copy files myself, but require confirmation that it is OK to do it. There is the added problem that if it does work it means that any future ROM flashing will also require file swapping. So I think I am talking myself out of using this camera and going for the latest M7 camera module 13P1BS402 instead.

Honestly I think that will be your best bet. Installing the wrong camera might never work, even with the right files. Why did you swap the camera anyways.

The original camera had the well publicised purple tint syndrome at low light levels. The replacement camera was on offer a few weeks back and described as being suitable for the HTC One M7 801 phone. As mentioned before I am taking up the issue with the seller - fingers crossed!:fingers-crossed:

Unfortunately not and the seller would not agree to a refund.
I did however buy and install another camera module for the M7 with part number 13P1BS402 and it is currently working fine.
I hope to acquire a One M8 phone soon so that I can test if the other camera (minus the adapter) will work in it successfully.
