Problem with VPN after froyo upgrade

Hello all
I previous was able to connect to my works Cisco VPN using VPN Connections However I just upgraded to EC05 (via a method that preserved /DATA) and I cannot get it to work correctly.
Ironically after updating tun.ko I get the message that I am "connected" but none of the traffic seems to be routed via the VPN- its as if I'm surfing the web without the VPN running- in other words I can surf but can't get to any protected areas.
Any ideas?
I'm hoping to avoid a hard reset/fresh install of EC05 but maybe I have to do one to troubleshoot?
EDIT: For whatever reason VPNC Widget seems to work (except after disconnecting I have to reboot to get the internet to work correctly-seems to be a known problem with this app- it does not rewrite DNS upon disconnect) so I guess I will stick with that in the meantime

I love fixing my own problems!!! I would thank myself if that was possible!
Turns out I was using an old version of busybox- once I updated it I was able to use VPN connections again with proper routing!

[Q] wlan problem after 2.3 upgrade

Since I upgraded my DHD to Android 2.3.3, I have the problem that my phone does connect to my wlan, but gets the IP address 10.0.0.4, though the modem says it has a 192.168.178.21 address. The internet connection on my dhd does not work.
The phone is just as default from stock, no alternative software nor root kits installed. I just installed the android release that came with the default updates.
Anyone an idea how to solve this problem?

which network is your wlan on the 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x

My network is 192.168.x.x. So when my DHD gets IP 10.0.0.3, my internet does not work.
When I log on to my fritzbox dsl router, the phone is stated as connected with IP 192.168.x.x, but the phone itself says it has address 10.0.0.3...

[NEO] Strange wifi problem. Connects but no internet.

Hello. I have xperia neo for 1 week. It is great phone and great upgrade from my X8 but i see a strange wifi problem. My firmware is latest version - 4.0.A.2.368.
At my home phone connects fine to my wireless network and everything is stable. I do not see any disconnects, reboots or other problems. My router is linksys wrt320N and i connect at wireless N speed - 72Mbps.
When i try to connect to the wireless N network at my office the phone connects fine but i do not have internet access. I have IP assigned by the router, network is shown as connected but i do not have connectivity. I tried with 3 different browsers and with the market and nothing connects. At the same time i can connect with my laptop to the same network and i have internet. My colleagues with other phones also connect and have internet.
I tried setting static IP address on the phone but this did not help. I read that if i set static IP in router's settings assigned to the mac address of the phone this will help. Unfortunately i can not test this because i do not have access to router's settings. Also at my home i did not make such settings and everything is working fine.
Previously i have seen this problem with my X8 and the same work wifi network but it was not always present. It was present with some custom firmwares and not with others.
If you have any ideas or have seen this problem please help.

Having the same device from Globul I never had such problems for the 2 weeks I'm using it. I had some disconnects but i put the blame on my router.

I think I've found the issue (by facing by myself)
The version neo is shippe (2.3.2) has a serious bug on AES encription.
Actually only the upgrade to 2.3.3 (no clue about upcoming 2.3.4) can fix the WPA/AES issue.
So the actual solutions are:
or change your wifi securty to WEP, updathe the phone via OTA
or use the Windows Software and update to 2.3.3.
Please note that if you use the Control Power widget it has been removed in 2.3.3

This was my problem when I had just bought my Arc.My phone couldn't surf the internet with my personal wifi network although I tried to use many browsers and also Android market. Then I reset and reinstalled my router, everything works well ^^

Ask your office IT staff to do a simple power cycle on the router and try connecting again. That may solve the problem.

[Q] Phone disconnects from shared wifi after a while

I have had this issue for rather a while (when using stock FroYo, stock GB and now ICS), tried different things (Intel MyWiFi, Connectify, Virtual Router) and it still happens, googled a whole lot now and then but still cannot resolve this, so any help would be really appreciated.

What happens:
Device would connect, things would be fine. Then after a few minutes PC client would show that the device is disconnected. On the phone, it would show that the phone still connects to wifi but it does not have internet access.

Anyone? At least please tell me if you experienced that, if it was my phone's fault or my laptop's fault.

[Q] Problems tethering with Galaxy Nexus portable hotspot in android 4.2

I am having a problem tethering my laptop and my desktop computer to my Galaxy Nexus ever since I installed the 4.2 update. My Nexus 7 tablet does not seem to have any issues connecting.
My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T60-2007 which has an Atheros 42T0825 wifi chip. It used to connect to the Android 4.1 Galaxy Nexus hotspot without any problems under Win XP. Immediately following upgrading the Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2 the laptop had problems. The laptop would connect to the tethering wifi hotspot, but would not be able to browse the internet (or in a few rare circumstances, would browse extremely slowly with frequent errors that would prevent web pages from loading).
I tried a factory reset on the Galaxy Nexus (which still left the phone at android 4.2), and there was no change in behavior.
I tried removing the wifi password and running the hotspot as an 'open network' and there was no change in behavior.
I tried a Windows XP reinstall on the laptop (to Windows XP SP3) and there was no change in behavior.
I replaced the wifi card (with and identical model) and there was no change in behavior
As a last resort (and because the laptop needed it), I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a new SSD and put in additional 2 GB of RAM.
Now although the laptop can still see the hotspot, it cannot connect to it. Even though the correct password is typed at the prompt, it gives a 'Network Security Key mismatch' error and will not connect. The laptop can connect to the hotspot if it is set as 'open', but will not connect to any sites or web pages (i.e. same problem as before with Win XP).
The laptop *does* work with the Galaxy Nexus via USB tethering, which suggests that there is some kind of wifi issue, but the laptop connects to my home wifi network (Linksys E3000 running stock firmware) just fine.
My desktop computer (running Windows 7) exhibits the same behavior as the laptop under Windows 7.
I was able to get a Macbook and a Dell Latitude laptop to connect to the wifi hotspot and successfully browse the internet (I will have to look up the model numbers later).
I am writing to try to find out whether anyone has noticed any similar problems/incompatibilities and whether anyone might know the causes.
Is there a problem with the b/g/n connectivity of my laptop? Did the wifi hotspot b/g/n configuration on Android change with the 4.2 update? Might a bad install of android 4.2 on my phone be to blame? Maybe there is a problem with g or n protocols? Which does the 4.2 hotspot use?

i am also facing the same problem when i try to connect to any wi-fi network. it stucks on obtaining ip address. even though the password is correct. even i tried hotspot way to connect. via different s/w like connectify even i tried to make hotspot via cmd shell commands too. in that same it is not able to connect.
i dont know what the problem. i am currently using 4.2.1 rooted JB. i am planning for factory reset. but as you did earlier and no success so i might not do.
even with open wifi network it is not able to connect..!! it happen after the update..

The inability to either create a mobile hotspot and connect to it is why I went back to stock rooted 4.1.1. I have tried Muzzy and AOKP and could not create and connect to a hotspot using native tethering or Wifi Tether. It has been a while since I checked the forums, but did not see a solution that helped me
PS - I was trying to tether mobile devices not laptops though

My issue resolved on its own...!! Don't know how..!! but now I can use WiFi tether and also reverse tethering too..!! Reverse tethering is really too handy thanks to xda members for making awesome apps.

I have not been able to get any form of wifi AP to work since flashing over to 10.1 CM. it turns on the AP and I can get wifi to link but can't get an IP and any kind of connectivity to the internet... so far, I haven't been able to find any help for the issue but I'll keep reading!
this was after a wipe data & cache install of 10.1.
