Which MM rom? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an H815 with MM....The stock rom just great i like it, but the battery time is ridiculous... Okay i use lot of battery hungry apk (like Waze and GPS Tracking) but my previous phone (Note2) with stock battery survived 18-24h, the G4 just around 8h nothing more...I noticed..looks like sometimes few process get stuck and drive the cpu 100% and the phone goes warm without any serious reason.
I don't want to switch to custom rom (i worring about warrantee...) , but i will if there is no other sollution.
I don't want to lose the LG stock rom features (like knock wake up...etc...) so which custom MM rom based on LG stock MM, and have the special LG features....But has great battery time?
I need some advice and experience...
Thx!

Hi, i used "7 hd rom" a time, but support was slow and the creator a little *shole. So i switched to imperium rom + actual kernel. Feels much smoother then the "hd rom", but i cant compare the battery life.
Imperium Rom is stock based, so al LG features included, and some more

for locked bootloaders ,Genesys Lollipop is great ? ! good kernel and battery-life ?!

Personally I downgraded to stock LP and rooted. Got greenify and a few other things and now my battery life is way better then MM.

[Q] Stock 2.3.6 vs Custom ROMs

I bought my Galaxy W and instantly started modding it, currently I'm on Arco's CyanogenMod 9 EOL, I didn't have much experience with the stock ROM you actually get with the phone, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4 UX.
My question is, is the stock ROM the most stable ROM with the best battery life you can get?
I would like to have some basic info like how smooth it is, the battery life, usability compared to the later CyanogenMod ROMs. I'd like to know whether its actually the best option except being kind of out of date now.
Thank you in advance :good:

From what I know the stock rom is better at keeping the battery use low during standby but i don't know whether that's true

I think that's true..
cause some Custom ROM come with some tweaks, some can keep the processor running low during standby. some also have some kind of better ram management.
Also if you want, you also can try some other kernel. cause some can even make longer battery life
switched for a tweaked stock 2.3.6 to a custom ICS and never looked back, the performance is just much better
I would say that my battery lasts longer with a custom rom. On stock sometimes it suddenly went off.
Currently I'm fine with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2214042. And the camera isn't green.

Best Custom Rom for Stability and Battery

Hello,
What Custom Rom you guys think its best for Battery Life and Stability?
I've been using CM11 for the last few months and now im Trying Omnirom. They are both stable and use the same battery.
I cannot try every rom, so im asking here for your opinion.
I very much doubt battery life would be any different because of ROM version.
It has more to do with individual usage patterns
&
BT On/active/streaming
Brightness level/Auto
Data On/updates/push services
Calls talk time
Text/chat apps
Wi-Fi/Hotspot on/active
I'd say if your getting nearly 2h's of screen on time then the ROM is just fine.
There may be others getting more, but it all depends on how you use your device.
I don't mind charging my phone 2-3 times throughout the day(to help keep it topped up), I don't use Wi-Fi since I have unlimited data, unless it's for a large occasional download (testing new ROM/apps) have auto app updates and push services on) and leave BT on to automatically connect to my car stereo and start streaming music and also always leave auto brightness on.
Personally, I have tried lot's of different Custom Roms, and to be honest, none of them are as good as Stock 4.3 in terms of battery life and stability. Yes, other ROMs offer additional features and Android Versions that would otherwise be unavailable, but are mostly less stable, more laggy and have worse battery life. If you want customisation, you can root and use Xposed Framework.
That said!.. the best custom ROM that I have used is both FML Kitkat and FML Lollipop by MWisBest.

Recently I went back to 4.2.2 (Verizon) because no roms I could find had decent battery life. I started using greenify to help with memory, as I find that soon as it gets to about 100mb free, the lag is terrible.
So in your opinion FML Kitkat vs stock on battery is worse? I briefly tried FML Lolipop but felt it was too early in dev and buggy
thx,

Yeah, I've always found that stock Jelly Bean has the best battery life. But your experiences may vary with usage.
I have used CM11, PA, Shiny ROM and FML so far. I cannot compare them to stock, since I haven't used stock due to lack of customization features.
IMO, Shiny ROM + Dirty V Kernel with Nephilim's settings had the best battery life. On standby, my phone ran for more than 2 days without a single charge. Performance was decent, although I wouldn't say that it was ideal.
I'm currently running on the latest FML Lollipop + Smitty L Kernel with Nephilim's settings. The battery life is decent, with about a day and a half standby time. Performance is fantastic. If you value both battery life AND performance, you might as well give this a try, as it is definitely worth the effort.

Best ROM for battery life?

What's the most stable and battery-friendly Lollipop custom ROM and kernel combination for the Z1C at the moment?
I've lost track after months of not upgrading my phone and would appreciate some pointers. Thanks!
I would recommend to not use LP if you are out for battery life.
KitKat, especially this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-d550314-4-0-108latest-t2862578/page59 has the best battery life. I downgraded a while ago after it sucked down my battery every day and doesnt provide any advantages...

I agree with doenen.
Updated to 5.0.2 OTA (coming from 1 day old 4.3) and had a poor battery life. LP drained my battery from 100% to 30% in one day (12h) of occasional whatsapp, facebook and browsing.
I downgraded to Kitkat 4.4.4 (14.4.A.0.157_R2C, see here) and now I got from 100% to 20% in 3! days with the same activity (WLAN on, occasionally mobile data on, whatsapp, facebook and some chrome, airplane mode at night).
Kitkat is currently my favorite as battery life is one of my top priorities.

I generally agree but I'm currently using prerooted stock 5.0.2 and can easilly reach 2 days od battery life with the right use of Greenify and Amplify combination as well as stamina mode. I recommend you to have a look at those threads:

Thanks for your advice, but since I just purchased my Z1C I wanted to stay as close to stock as possible (also in case I need to make use of the warranty - though I am aware that my downgrading may already have voided that, but I decided to take that risk).
Thanks for the advice, guys! I'd rather be using a CM based ROM, rather than stock, cos I don't like the Sony interface too much. Are KK/LP ROMs that are based on CM that considerably worse at battery life than the stock versions?

I was using CM 12.1 nightlies for about 3 months and I can tell you it requires a lot of tweaking to make it battery friendly (I mean A LOT) and it still wasn't even close to KitKat or even stock Lollipop I'm using now. If you consider staying on KitKat I highly recommend this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743177. It's not updated for some time but it worked for me for almost a year and battery life was great.

+1 for KitSlim_AMG, if you enable conservative governor and disable a few things in play services, you should get three day battery easily.
Problem with LP is wakelocks. If you have a messenger installed, it will keep the mobile radio active all the time.
Just flash a ROM with built in wakelock blocker (eg AICP) and you're good. My battery life improved on LP since it uses ART.
Miui works great too!! Two days and more are really well for me

I've actually been using the old version of the MobileActiveRadioFix for a while now, with success I might say. Good to hear it's getting updated.
Two months since I switched to LP and I first tried stock ROM, then on AOSP.
Thanks to the stamina sony feature, I hardly noticed any faster battery drain between KK and LP stock ROM.
But with AOSP rom the story is quite different !
I've found this really interesting post ([GUIDE]Extreme Battery Life Thread(Greenify+Amplify+Power Nap))
But battery life is still not at stock ROM's level
the best ROM for battery life has to be stock. I'm on stock 5.1.1, with moderate usage 30% battery life gets used up per day
I'm on Xposed but didn't need to use greenify or amplify either. just use the stock STAMINA mode, activate to always-on, whitelist the apps that you want to continue to receive messages when screen is off

Custom Rom Performance

Hey guys.
Just want to know your thoughts about ROM performance in terms of smoothness on different roms.
I was a long time user of tylers RR build and it was really fluid.
Now i am back on Imperium since a month (because of camera) and its overall UI performance is worse that RR.
Can you please give me some thoughts about your experience in UI/ROM peformance on Rom/builds?
thx

Well I'm not surprised you experience worse UI performance on Stock based ROMs, overall in my experience the UI performance in AOSP Custom ROMs is way more fluid and smoother, but the performance in apps is slower than in Stock based ROMs. A bit longer load times, less frame rate's but a more stable frame rate in games and a bit less responsive after a long period of use. For me the camera performance and photo and video quality on Stock based ROMs outweighs AOSP ROMs and that keeps me close to Stock. I have used Dualboot Patcher for a while so I could use AOSP ROMs as my primary ROM and and a Stock based ROM as my secondary ROM so I could still enjoy a fluid and smooth UI and the camera performance of Stock when needed. I really dislike the micro stutters I experience on Stock, especially when I'm scrolling. But I dislike my phone getting slow after a long period of usage even more, which forces me to reboot my phone regularly. So because of that I am running a Stock based ROM as my primary ROM for now.

thx a lot for your feedback!
Thats a good idea with dualboot patcher, but (for me) not really practical
Your experiences coincide with mine!
In my case i also had thermal issues with AOSP roms -> cpu runs hotter quickly than on stock.
Did you also experienced such a behaviour?
Which AOSP rom do you use?
And which do you think has the best (UI) performance?
thx

No problem! :good:
Oh, for me the CPU on AOSP ROMs actually ran a bit cooler and heated up less quickly than on Stock. Although my G4 never really runs that hot even on Stock. And I forgot to mention that I get better battery life both in stand by time and average SOT while running a AOSP based Custom ROM.
At the moment I run a Stock based ROM on my G4 but I have used CyanogenMod till it's end and it's successor Lineage OS which it's pretty much the same but under a new name . I've also tried other ROMs but most of them where based on CM and are based on Lineage OS and they pretty much performed more or less the same. So no big differences.
That's why i do not use any more customs roms...
It's on the decline !
I agree with you !
-camera and video quality lost
-lost performance after a long usage
-lost customer patent and innovation
-lost the pure performance on games
-the modem is not as well as exploited as customers firmwares (sometime bad network quality on customs)
-always minors buggs and sometime big buggs
-near all devellopers wait for Lineage source (Lineage spend 1 year to build an android version and it's never "perfect"....and lots of merges,abandon,clean... on their source all the time,it's never stable and finished)
- on RR,DU...etc....you remove design customizations and you see an empty poor rom
-you loose FM radio function and there never have had effort by the dev for to port an alternative like spirit-fm radio (this dev have had big succes with some very difficult phones ,and som LG)
-you have much more chance than stock to have battery drain with some system process (the main cause of stocks firmwares drain is the google apps ! )
Maybe a custom rom is good for low and some middle-end devices (principaly for to have a light rom.....and hardwares are not the best on these devices ) but completely useless for hight-end device like G4...that's my opinion !
I use a MM firmware + simpleGX 2.0.3 kernel and i'm very happy ! Very good...

Now using Imperium v13 with SimpleGX Kernel, that combo is really good from performance view

A really annoying problem immediate help required!!

Hi I am facing a problem in my z2 plus which I purchased this January, I root the phone in march and then installed custom ROMs on a daily basis, I liked to try out the different ROMs available for my set, then I noticed that the battery life of my phone was decreasing, I thought it was because of a single custom ROM but no custom ROM gave me the perfect battery life, so if I install stock ROM will my battery performance be like it was
if you have no problem in using custom rom then use Aex 5.4+ pico gapps + nameless kernel.. this combo will give you best battery back up.. from next time onward if you wanna ask a query .. post in the query section.. not in this section
No necessarily. MIUI and ZUI has a better battery performance because this has a own saving mode. Yo always can tray to rom + Custom Kernel + tweeks , is no t magic, you must try the best combination for you specific use.

Try an app called AccuBattery. Check how is the actual condition of the battery.
Any Lithium-ion battery lose their capacity with charging cycle. So more we charge battery, less backup it gives.
Battery makes say, 20-80% is a sweet spot to save much of the battery wear n tear !! Since most of the charge cycle damage happen between 80-100%.
I am no expert, just shared few points which I leant by reading here n there. So wait for other expert to comment :fingers-crossed:
