I updated to MM, and retained my unlock from LP.
So, have you guys tried fastboot flashing unlock yet?
Its the new command as of MM.

I haven't been able to, ever, since I don't have a cable and don't have the know-how to make one.

Cannot seem to install custom recovery. Rooted and I THINK bootloader is unlocked.
Hi everyone, I'm in dire need of help.
I believe my bootloader is unlocked and I'm rooted using the one click method. But no matter what I do I can't seem to get a custom recovery installed. Please help me and advise me on what to do.

After you unlock your bootloader the splashscreen when booting has a WHITE background, not black. Unless you have seen and replaced the splashscreen then you haven't unlocked the bootloader and you can flash until the cows come home but it won't do any good...

Ah you're right. My bootloader isn't flashed after all. And even that isn't possible for some reason, neither the unofficial or official way is working
Oh my God, I don't know how but the official bootloader unlock tool just worked! Victory!

Congrats, just be aware now though that you are without warranty and won't be on the OTA list from ASUS...

Even if your bootloader is unlocked, still u will receive OTA updates.
My Z008 is unlocked and rooted. still i receive OTA updates. I just unroot and update the OTA and then re-root.

Official unlock tool or XDA unlock tool?
Once you unlock using ASUS's tool it removes you from the update server or so it has been said...
You can still download from ASUS site and flash through recovery but it generally don't get OTA's...

Assuming that you unlock the bootloader, root the phone and change the splash screen....
Reboot the phone.....
If Asus logo splash screen is black your bootloader is locked.
If Asus logo splash screen is white your bootloader is unlocked.

Why do you want to unlock the bootloader?
For the time being, there is no way to unlock the bootloader in MM. May be in the near future.
If you want to unlock the bootloader in MM, you need to temporarily downgrade the bootloader to Lollipop, unlock the bootloader and upgrade back to MM by the patched bootloader.

No.
To upgrade to MM from LP your firmware has to be at least 184.
You can use OTA or download the MM from ASUS site and install the MM in ADB environment with adb sideload command.
Do not upgrade MM via TWRP. MM install package does not compatible with TWRP. However, there is guide to modified the installation script in order to work with TWRP. The guide was written a year ago for Lollipop .
If your intention is to use custom rom in MM then you need an unlocked bootloader with custom recovery like TWRP.
In that case you need to unlock the bootloader in lollipop before you upgrade to MM. Like I said, there is no direct way to unlock bootloader in MM.
If your intention is to have rooted MM, then you do not need to unlock the bootloader.
You do not need to install the TWRP. You can use tethered TWRP to flash the super su zip file.

Relocking bootloader question

Hi hope someone can verify.
I'm running stock 3.2.7 unrooted with stock recovery. The bootloader is still unlocked as I tried out a few custom ROMs about a month back. I now want to wipe and sell the phone so need to lock the bootloader. Can I just do the standard OEM lock in adb or should I also sideload the full 3.2.7 update zip again?
Thanks
just oem lock it. but everything will be removed when you do that.

Thanks, I thought so but I had to check. Strange... after rooting phones and installing custom ROMs for maybe 8 years, I don't think I've ever relocked a bootloader.
It's safer to flash stock again then to relock bootloader, even if you think you are stock (including recovery) maybe you are not.
But except the booting screen, you won't gain anything from relocking bootloader, even the warranty will work with bootloader unlocked.

Thanks, but I plan to sell my OP3 to a high street store that buys and sells second-hand phones and tablets. Although it's only 3 months old and in immaculate condition, I'm guessing they may be reluctant to buy it if the start up screen says 'this phone can't be trusted...'
No choice in this situation - I will need to relock the bootloader I guess.
If you lock the bootloader, everything will be wiped and phone won't boot till you flash OOS.

Thank you. So after OEM lock, when you say flash OOS do you mean sideload a full update zip? That's what I was asking in my original post.

Ta mate. I already saw that thread but as I'm running a clean sideloaded OOS that has never been rooted, I am already back to stock. Anyway, as opinion seems to be divided on whether OEM lock alone is enough, I will also sideload a full OOS update zip again to be sure.
Won't be doing it for a few days though so it's all academic at the moment.

[QUESTION] Is it possible to relock an Mi6?

My wife and I have an Mi6, but her device came unlocked.
Problem with this is that as it's unlocked, she can't download Netflix from Playstore.
Same situation happens with other apps so, my idea is to install stable global rom and let the device locked.
Hopefully someone will be able to give me a hand.
Thanks in advance.

i found this but it is chinese hope you can understand or you can use chrome to translate it
Method1: You can flash stock rom and choose "clean_all_and_lock" at the bottom, this way you will lock bl.
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Method2:
The other way is to type
Code:
fastboot oem lock
but this ain't as safe as the first method if you have custom recovery

No custom recovery. It is seems the rom she has is beta.
I will check first option to leave her phone with latest global stable release as she's not used to root.

Hi there,
Have you already tried sideloading the Netflix app on your wife's device?
I never tried that, but I guess the app is not available only through the Playstore.

Yes, I've downloaded the app from Apk mirror.
However, my wife is not so much into technology, so she will not do this every time. This is why I want her to have global stable locked, so she can use Playstore with no problems.
thanks
