Just got my att HTCm9 and unlocked the bootloader
Installed TWRP from the cyanogenmod website
now TWRP seems to work fine, except When I go to Install CM it goes
comparing SBL1 version 1.2.50.1.36 to 1.2.50.1.35
then shows a bunch of ****ed up characters, rectangle boxes n ****
assert failed: hima.verify.sbl1 (1.2.50.1.36) == "1"
E:Error executing binary in zip '/sdcard/cm13.............'
error flashing zip
and now I am stuck here... Not sure where to move forward or what to do
Don't use latest version of Twrp if the zip of the rom don't included the new script for the flash.
Twrp 3.0.0.0 (or below) should works fine...

Agreed, twrp 3 or 2.9.0.1.
Another tip: you MUST be on 6.0 firmware to install a 6.0 rom.

I can install ANY rom (cm10.1, Omega 9.1, Revolution 6.0, etc) except for Stock. I tried via CWM, TWRP, adb sideload and Odin. I also tried 3 different .zips (Greek, French DLL4 and DLL7).
I always get the same error:
E: Can't open rom.zip (bad) Installation aborted
Very frustrating.. help?
Have you made sure the rom files are complete? Check the MD5 for each rom u downloaded
Indeed.looks like a bad download.

Hi,
difficult to believe 3 zips are corrupted. As far as remember (but not sure as I didn't flash for a long time), if you downloaded them from samfirmware, you can't flash them through recovery: you need to unzip them first before flashing xxx.tar.md5 as PDA with odin.

hi what stock file are you trying to flash ?
and are you using oding to flash the file ?
Okay, just rooted with Odin, have CWM v6. Everything went fine, rooted fine, running stock rom.
Went to flash CM 10.2 Nightly, got assert error.
Used Odin to flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41503727&postcount=13716
That was supposed to update my bootloader. Flashed successful, "PASS" from Odin.
Pull battery, start CWM, wipe data. try to flash CM 10.2 again, and get:
E: Error in /emmc/cm-10.2-20130927-NIGHTLY-d2att.zip
(Status 6)
Installation aborted.
What do I do now?
It lets me install 10.1 just fine.
What version did u update from? The link u posted is lk3, the newest is ucdmg2...
From another forum:
http://goo.gl/H2XYQ3 (link shortened)
"Status 6 is basically trying to read a file that's not encoded in UNIX"

the flashing script might have been modified afterwards by a UNIX-incompatible editor, which makes it unreadable by Android.

Hi, everybody.
Currently I'm running CM12.1 (temasek's Lollipop) on my phone. I have installed the latest TWRP to.
Yesterday I'll decided to make a little experiment with the new MIUI V7 and the Xcelerate kernel.
So, I after a full (advanced) wipe, I'll add the MIUI .zip folder to install. After a few seconds the TWRP announces me with red letters that it cannot install the zip file.
It says: it can't find the MD5 file, failed to extract dir from "system" to"/system". Error executing updater binary in zip (the MIUI v7 armani zip file was downloaded from an european official MIUI forum...)
Why?
Am I do something wrong?
Should I reinstall first the MIUI Recovery?

Had the same problem when I renamed the miui.zip file, when kept the original file name then the flash was successful. Otherwise try to flash miui recovery and flash it through that.
yes it had happened for me as well............ from recovery reboot to recovery.. it will ask to use supersu just swipe and install now it will b done.....
n miui 7 is great for now after trying all roms (kitkat n lollipop)
miui 7 + xcelerate kernel + dolby atmos + viper4android + xtrememods = exclnt redmi 1s (camera is grainy though)

Sorry, I have missed the topic, and cannot remove the post.
The actual device is Mi4 LTE
I haven't renamed the file, but installation is still unsuccesfull. Also tried to replace the file to the storage root, and rename, but result is the same: unable to install system.
TWRP is 2.8.5 since 2.8.7 was unable to install Ivan's AOSP ROM.
Also tried to download a full (fastboot) ROM, but MIUI site is unusably slow.
It fails to install Rom, when I go to reboot TWRP it says Kindle doesn't have root. Is there a way to check for root in TWRP. When I go to install Cyan nightly ROM i get stuck at; detected filesystem ext4 for /............ then Error; Error executing updater binary in zip
Then I downloaded a cyan release and it fails right away with Error executing updater binary in zip
I think it has something to do with not verifying root first.
If that's the case what steps should I take to get root?

CM usually has root built in - the reason you're getting the "no root" error is likely because CM isn't flashing properly. This might be the case because your TWRP version is out of date. Download the latest TWRP zip from this thread, then flash it from TWRP, reboot back into TWRP when prompted, and then try flashing CM again.

My kindle fire refused to flash CM11 saying that it wasn't compatible with my device, but once I updated TWRP, it flashed just fine.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ using Tapatalk
Fixed!
I have a rooted oneplus3 phone and I am trying to update to Android 7.1.1 from 6.0.1 so that I can install the newest version of elementalx but keep getting an error that stops me every time I try and flash an update using TWRP
Android Version: 6.0.1
OxygenOS Version: 3.1.3
Kernal Version:
3.18.20-perf+
[email protected] #1
My phone is rooted and I have installed the twrp recovery version 3.0.2-0 on it. I previously installed xposed framework on my device but flashed the uninstaller for it recently.
The error I keep recieving is as follows:
E: unknown command [logs]
Updater process ended with Error: 7
Error installing zip file /sdcard/oneplus3oxygen_16_ota_051_all_1704112009_2521.zip
updated partition details...
...done
Is there something more I need to do before I can flash the file or am I just not using the correct one? and do I even need to update my phone to 7.1.1 or will flashing elementalx do that in the process?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

is that the reason why I am getting the error? Idk why I wouldnt be able to flash it with an older version of twrp
The unknown command alone feels like an error you'd normally encounter with an older recovery. Can you try updating and see if it works?
Allways use the latest Twrp recovery. Custom recovery it's better, because you can instal what ever rom you want. I use blue-spark v.32.
I updated twrp and it did indeed fix it! thanks a bunch for the help!
