Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S III from T-mobile, running CM 10. Since last week I've been having trouble with it after I updated the CM 10 rom. For some weird reason I cannot receive calls while I am using my data connection, incoming calls are always sent to voicemail. I tried the ##DATA# code to try to turn off the DDTM mode but later on I read that I cannot access this menu unless I am on stock ROM, I tried to flash T-mobile's stock ROM with Odin but the process kept getting stuck with no progress at all.
I kept looking and I came to the idea that my problem was my IMEI, which when I checked, was 0. I restored my IMEI and now I have my IMEI number and everything but I my internet connection is still stuck on EDGE and I cannot receive any calls. I even tried updating my modem I tried several different T-mobile modems for my phone and none of them can take my phone off EDGE.
then I tried changing the network type with the *#*#4636#*#* the actual network type option that it has selected is WCDMA preferred, I went ahead and selected LTE/GSM/CDMA but that option doesn't stay!!! I am going nuts here!!! I want my 4G connection back, I have tried everything with no luck at all.
I just hope that somebody out there has gone through this and found a solution cause I am losing all my hope and I don't want to take my phone to T-mobile since I cant flash it back to stock rom.
If anyone here could please help out I will be extremely thankful.
Thanks in advance.

It's more to it than simply injecting your IMEI. You have to inject it, back it up, and then restore it.
Well i had to enter my IMEI manually to generate a .txt to write it to my phone because the one i had before was corrupted cause it was 0.
Was thete any other step that I skiped doing?
I figure i wouldnt make a back up before injecting my IMEI manually cause i didnt have one.
Am I screwed??

Yes, you skipped two complete steps. There's three steps, again, Injection, Backup, and then Restore. Go back to Peoplearmy's thread and follow it completely.

I've shown him an easy way to find answers to future questions he may have. Now stop telling me what to do.
But on a serious note, the search function on XDA works extremely well. If I ever need to find something, I type it in that box and 95.7342% of the time, it pops right up in front of me.
Search is a beautiful thing.

I have actually searched quite a lot since I've been having this problem from a few weeks now. Only thing is that whenever i find a possible solution i doesnt fix it since it seems it is something else. I am trying now to do peoplearmy's post to see if this one does the trick. The first time i put manually my IMEI i did it following a different thread so I hope this one fixes the problem.

Poeplearmy's post is the industry standard for IMEI recovery. Just remember that there are more steps than just the first post. I'm sure you'll get it worked out.

I did this method, I cant actually check if my 4g is working since unfortunately at home I always get EDGE so I will check later when I go out.
I have a question, I did check on the dialer my IMEI but I saw a picture of somebody on peoplearmy's thread and their IMEI included a /0# at the end and I realized that mine doesn't.
Does the IMEI need to have that /#0 at the end in order to work or is it ok? I just want to make sure since I can only check my connection speed when I go out.
thank you

As far as I know, your IMEI should just be a simple number. If the IMEI you're seeing on the software matches your IMEI on the back of your phone, then you're good in that department. If you also followed the steps for the backup and restore. Then you're good. The backup is important, because it allows for the restore. The restore has some (stuff) that adds all of the settings back to allow you to connect to 4G. Does that make sense? It's a three-step process when you lose your IMEI for the first time.
Inject, backup, restore. It has to be done, because the restore really does add something back to make it work properly.
Should you lose it again in the future, you can simply just restore and be right back.

Hey guys, I restarted my phone today and have no service. Checked imei with att rep and shows unknown. Took the battery out and all that and still shows unknown and no service. It is not rooted, nothing is changed. Just stock phone I've been using since Monday.
Any ideas?
Edit: Okay so after talking to the rep he was no help. Telling my SIM card is the issue. I did a factory reset and I'm working again.

Whoa, I haven't had the Note 5 for almost two years now, so I'm not sure of how much help I can be. What does your current baseband and IMEI field show? Do they show as Unknown?
So I installed CWM-SuperSU_v0.87.zip, got Wicked v10 loaded and my SD card stopped working. Tried clearing cache/resetting to defaults. Didn't work.
Downloaded T999UVDLJA_T999TMBDLJA_TMB and restored to factory. external SD started working again but now I'm in 2G mode.
I noticed my IMEI had been wiped, so I restored that using NV-items reader_writer...
I didn't back up anything before I did this, and I'm probably going to pay for it. I don't care if I have to ship this off to a trusted member to get it fixed, I'd rather just not have to spend another $300 to get a 4g phone again.
If anyone has some input, I'm all ears. I'm not completely daft, just careless.
What phone do you have?? If all was right with what you installed and you have checked you have "3g/4g" enabled not just GSM then follow all the steps in the recovering 4g thread. This has been brought up about 1000 times in this forum about restoring it and still not seeing "4g" just follow steps and read up.

I'm running basic stock firmware/rom now - so I don't even have an option to turn off/on 3g/4g. My network mode is set to 'LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto Mode'.
I tried using the search function on the site, but it's broken - figures =D If you have it bookmarked could you toss that thread my direction?

I've actually already recovered the IMEI using that method, but I'm thinking that my phone has a damaged/corrupt ERI.

I know your pain. I was testing roms last year with my g2x and we ported a o2x rom and it made me not be able to send sms over 4g, only 2g lol. That was a huge pain haha. Whn the search function pops back up and I can look closer I'll get into it, at least for today.

I have the same problem with my IMEI disappearing an only being on 2G. Did you have a backup of your IMEI or how did you restore it with the NV-items reader_writer? I am curious because I don't have a backup of my IMEI and I have that util...but the other utility to re-write the file to be uploaded seems to have disappeared off the internet and the only copies I have found have been infected with multiple virus'.
Thanks in advance.

Didn't take any sort of precaution... I just started flashing ROMs without reading anything. I actually ended up hard bricking the thing and I'm now waiting for the phone to come back from a JTAG repair. I ended up buying another S3 off of craigslist and doing a nvbackup and andromodizer backup before I did anything else. I'm now running cm10.1 with 4g. I'll probably just keep my 2g'd phone as a backup. My only guess as to the now MIA program is that it could be used to circumvent IMEI blacklists... Which sucks.
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, the reason i've joined is that my Galaxy Note II has a major problem with it...
Early august I rooted it, but then put it back to it's original ROM, it was working fine for a week or so, and then it wouldn't make any calls.
I can access 3g, used a different SIM card Three and it does the same thing. I've rebooted it from scratch about 4/5 times.
Today I found it in my drawer and wanted to try it again, I put my SIM card in and the same thing still happens.
Any suggestions?7

My screen is cracked at the top left corner of the phone, at first I thought I might have broken the aerial, but then how would my 3g work?
Thanks!
So what happens when you try to make call? Does it say not registered on network, give a different error message or something?

It says "not registered on a network"
Thanks.
What about your IMEI ? Most probably it will be fine as you still able to use 3G. In certain when IMEI is correct and you are unable to make Call, possibilities are
1.Device get banned due to tempered IMEI (usually happens if you have purchased old and may be stolen)
2.Network locked.
Talk to your operator about these.

Hi Thanks for the reply,
I did buy it from the market, it can't be locked as it doesn't work on a different carrier so I don't know why that would be?
Can you change the IMEI number on the device at all???

Best not to ask this question.
Changing the ID of a phone IS ILLEGAL.
Dr.ketan is the expert but, as long as your phone is not blocked. whenever I get that error, I simply go into settings do a network search and then re register on my network. I presume you've tried that already?
Edit - did you read this thread?

Like the title says, I have Wifi issues with my PXL. For some reason the WiFi always turns off on its own. Not sure what it is or why it's doing it. I've gone through the settings and I don't see anything about WiFi turning off with weak signal or anything like that.
Does anyone else have this issue or do I have e a defect device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/help/wi-fi-calling-npf26j-t3506122/page1
Mine does the same thing and under the wifi settings I have the option selected to keep wifi on during sleep, but my wifi still goes off. Because my email app every time I turn my phone screen my email app shows no network then when wifi goes back on my email app shows it was last updated many times hours earlier to the time I last had the screen on. And I know nothing is shutting my email app off either, its all a problem with the wifi.
Also I have had issues connecting to open network wifi's such as walmart and kroger, it would connect but show no internet and every time it did this the wifi was working perfectly fine on my Htc 10 which was right beside my pixel xl. I had to mess around with it removing the wifi network then re adding back and forth then they started working. I also had to enable the wifi assistant to get them to work which I should not have had to.
So I believe they have wifi issues on the pixel xl. I"am on the x software and on verizon.
