I just got a G2. perm rooted it. and everytime upon booting up it has signal for 1 second then literally just disappears and never comes back. can't choose mobile network or anything because it can't search for it. tried doing *#*#infor#*#* and it says GSM ONLY and everytime i try to change it to WCDMA PREFERRED it keeps reverting back as soon as i exit. the only way i've been able to get signal back so far is to connect to wifi and enable wifi calling, then after disconnecting i'm able to get signal and i'm able to check the WCDMA PREFERRED option but awhile ago i was on wifi calling then left my house and it was disconnected but wasn't able to get signal again.
can anyone help me with what i should do because although i might be able to get it back through wifi calling, this will be very problematic whenever i'm not near my normal wifi locations...
thanks for the help
Eh... I would try reinstalling a stock rooted rom.

Is it factory unlocked? Have you used an unlock code? Have you tried the full radio s off, super Cid thing?

I wonder if your SIM card is faulty, needs cleaning, or is just a bit loose in the socket.

This is what it sounds most like to me. Also try to install another rom since you have it rooted now and see if that fixes the issue. Make sure you do a Nandroid backup first though!

I never put an unlock code and I'm still on tmobile. I called them and so far I haven't had trouble with signal as much but my number doesn't show up under status in about phone settings...it just says unknown. Its only on this phone though, my n1 shows my number with this sim.

No it wasn't. For the past couple of days since calling tmobile, its been significantly better but today I did randomly have that same problem of no connection, but mostly right now my problem is my g2 not being able to read my phone number in "status" under "about phone" settings but it does on my n1. When I called tmobile they tried sending my number ota 3 times with no luck...

During the first 30 days you can go to a TMO store and get a new phone, pretty much "no questions asked". I'd go ahead and do that if I was you. Oh, go to a corporate store though, not a mall kiosk.
While you're there, get a new SIM, too. All free of charge.
If you still have the same problem after that, I'd try an exorcist
Is this problem solved now ? I got the same problem but have no chance to return it back.
If there is the way to solve it, could you please inform and share
Thx

My signal problems seemed to be resolved, at least for the past week. It was resolved by calling tmobile customer support and they did some tests. However, my phone not recognizing my phone number under settings> about phone> status, is still a problem. Even tried getting a new sim and still didn't solve the problem. Did numerous OTAs with tmobile that didn't work. My number still shows up on caller id and stuff its just that menu thing. Sounds insignificant but some apps use that to determine your phone number. Also, when putting my sim back into my nexus one, it does show my number...

hi everyone,
I got my S3 from Bell two weeks ago, it worked fine most of the time including calls, sms and data.
but occasionally for whatever reason the phone cannot make call or send sms, no ring for incoming call also. it shows "not registered on network" when I try to dial. at the time showing this error, there was signal on the bar.
maybe after long time, it can registered itself into network again, but most of the time, I just restart the phone and it works fine again.
I called Bell and they asked me to replace the SIM card, so I did, but I still see this error. So I think it is not SIM issue.
anyone has idea what the cause could be? or is there anyway to fix it?
I tried to search online before I ask, just couldn't find a solution so far.
so post here and hope anyone can help,
thanks for the help in advance.
I've had this issue as well.

I had this problems with rogers as well. Same as you I contacted rogers they told me to remove the sim and replace it. Worked for a while but kept happening. I got fed up and rooted then installed kyan rom and haven't had the problem since. Not sure if it was rom based or if the factory reset before flashing resolved the issue but haven't had it since. Hope someone figures this out though because it's annoying especially on a new phone that is stock.

Good to hear you had fixed it.
I might try factory reset to see what happen.

Had this problem on bell a few times the first 2 weeks I had my phone. Went to the bell store and without hesitation they told me to change the mobile network mode from gsm/hspa+/lte
To just gsm/hspa+.
Reason given was the Lte network where I was using my phone (west island, montreal) wasn't strong enough. So my phone would switch between networks until eventually it got in that state. Personnaly I think the problem was more signal penetration into the computer lab I work in.
It's been 2 weeks stable so far. A co-worker reported the same problem to me last week and he took my advice and hasn't had the problem since.

Thank you very much for the tip. I was wondering that too, because I noticed that the network icon at top bar keep changing between H+ and LTE by itself. and I wonder why too.
I will try and see what happened.
thanks

SAMSUNG i747M not registered on network
I had this samsung s3 i747M from canada. Got it unlocked here in Pakistan. Placed a local sim in it. It recognizes the sim, registers it, makes calls, but then after a while, it shows "not registered on network". i restart, it registers network again, then loses it again. It keeps doing it. sometimes it is registered on network, but can't make or receive calls.
I have tried a number of things but the problem is not resolved and i'm fed up to the point that i want to throw this phone away.
The original rom had android 4.3
here's the list of things i have tried.
* changed the network mode to "GSM only" and "WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)" - NO USE
* Factory data reset a few times - NO USE
* tried a custom rom (it was so bad, i deleted it, don't even remember the name) - NO USE
* stock rom 4.4.2 from "sammobile.com" - NO USE
* tried flashing different modems from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898" - NO USE
* tried changing the options from *#2263# to my network's specifications - NO USE
* tried sims from different networks - NO USE
PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT HERE, I'M DESPERATE
@qamar_ish, what ROM is on your Samsung phone?
Originally it came with android 4.3. Currently it has this kitkat rom, which i downloaded from "sammobile.com".
the filename is this:
I747MVLUFNK2_I747MOYCFNK2_I747MVLUFNK2_HOME.tar.md5
It said on the webpage that it is the stock rom for SGH-i747M

Does your carrier require an AWS-compatible phone? Does the i747m support all frequencies provided by your provider?
I'm not sure about whether an AWS phone is required or not. But it certainly supports all the frequencies provided by the networks here. I checked it by using the code *#2263# and the options have the frequency supported by my networks here, that is "ufone" and "warid"
PS. I'm not an expert on this thing, whatever i'm doing, i learnt it during the last week..

Does your phone show the imei# from the dialpad? Is it possible there is something wrong with the phone's imei #?
It does show the correct imei when i dial *#06#. It had lost its imei initially when i got it unlocked, but got it fixed from someone.

Do you know why it lost the imei during the unlock process? Does the imei # in the phone match the imei # on the label under the battery?
I dont know how it lost imei. The guy who fixed it said that the imei is corrupted and he fixed it. Now it shows the same imei as on the back of the device.
I have never had a Samsung phone lose the imei if the phone was unlocked using a code, assuming that is how your phone was unlocked.
Did you try re-injecting the imei with the efs folder? It can be done using nvwriter.
Ok. I will try that. Can u guide me how to do it? Or share a link or something.
And thanx for helping me out here man..

Hi Guys,
I will try to make this as short as possible. I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S3 that was rooted and running the liquid smooth rom and activated on Simple Mobile. It worked great for a little over two weeks, but when my wife went to use the phone this morning it would say "Not registered on network" when she tried to make a call. I thought this may be a carrier issue so I contacted Simple Mobile. I started looking up this issue online and found that many people were in the same boat if they had either lost their IMEI or had a blocked IMEI. I got a little worried since I purchased the phone on Craigslist so I called T-Mobile. They confirmed that the IMEI is clean and can be activated. I decided to unroot the phone and return to stock. I used ODIN to flash firmware build IMM76D.T999UVALEM. Initially it got stuck on the boot screen so I did a factory data wipe and all was okay. I also reset the binary flash counter prior to reloading the stock firmware. When all was said and done the phone booted back up and the device status was back to normal and all seemed right in the world except there was still no voice or data. I thought maybe Simple Mobile just sucks so I went to a T-Mobile store and activated the phone on a prepaid plan with unlimited data. The device powered up and immediately sent a voicemail notification, but did not activate. Under status I have Network: Unknown, Mobile Network Type: Unknown, Service State: Out of Service, My Phone Number: Unknown, ERI Version: Unknown. The IMEI is there and correct.
At this point I have taken this to the edge of my ability and I could really use some advice. I fear that this may be an issue with the device and if so I do not know what recourse I have to get it fixed under warranty since I bought it used. At this point I will try anything and all suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated!
Check your apn settings. Go to settings -> more settings -> mobile networks -> access point names. If you're still on t-mobile then press menu button and select reset to default. If you're on someting else find apn settings for your network and copy them in the right places. Besides that and hardware problem I don't see any other reason, but I'm not an expert on that and I think there are people who will have some ideas on how to fix it.
Good luck

Hi Hajme,
Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention above, but I did verify the APN settings and everything looked good. The odd thing is that even if the APN was whack, I should still be getting voice. I contacted Samsung and luckily they are going to take it in on a warranty claim, so hopefully they can work it out.
I have the exact same problem but for verizon. If anybody knows a way to fix it please let me know. Thanks.
T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 - Searching loop problem for Mobile Network
I am having the same problem this morning! I have unlocked the tmobile sgs3 and i have been using the phone for the past three months using another carrier sim. I searched all the forums and couldn't fine a solution for it! There was no problem with the carrier sim, cos I tried it on my other phones and it worked fine. I have flashed cm10.1 nightly build , aokp , stock ics rom and stock jelly bean, still having the same issue... I have even reseted the binary counter, still no use ! I went into service mode using *#197328640#, found that the carrier name was "unknown". There was no no problem with the antenna, I could still receive other carrier signals . The thing is it does not register , It keeps on going in a search loop! The product was purchased from T-Mobile and is unlocked! What should I do?

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, the reason i've joined is that my Galaxy Note II has a major problem with it...
Early august I rooted it, but then put it back to it's original ROM, it was working fine for a week or so, and then it wouldn't make any calls.
I can access 3g, used a different SIM card Three and it does the same thing. I've rebooted it from scratch about 4/5 times.
Today I found it in my drawer and wanted to try it again, I put my SIM card in and the same thing still happens.
Any suggestions?7

Thanks!
So what happens when you try to make call? Does it say not registered on network, give a different error message or something?

It says "not registered on a network"
Thanks.
What about your IMEI ? Most probably it will be fine as you still able to use 3G. In certain when IMEI is correct and you are unable to make Call, possibilities are
1.Device get banned due to tempered IMEI (usually happens if you have purchased old and may be stolen)
2.Network locked.
Talk to your operator about these.

I did buy it from the market, it can't be locked as it doesn't work on a different carrier so I don't know why that would be?

Best not to ask this question.
Changing the ID of a phone IS ILLEGAL.
Dr.ketan is the expert but, as long as your phone is not blocked. whenever I get that error, I simply go into settings do a network search and then re register on my network. I presume you've tried that already?
