Hello fellow forum readers, im in dire need of some of your expert advice. I recently bought a Galaxy S4 from Ebay, the M919 model from tmobile. Today I received that phone, and proceeded to do the unlock guide fond here on the forum, it was succesful. I put my sim card in (im overseas, so its an international simcard) and the phone recognized my sims network. Well, next I tried making a phone call and thats where I found the problem, the phone simply wont make or receive a call. It tries to, but it hangs up. Sms also doesnt work. Wifi is fine. Everything else is fine. The phone is baseband version VUAMDL. I already flashed the same modem with odin to no avail. Does anyone have a suggetion of what to try next? Thanks a lot!
I just tried my data connection and its working fine! its only the calls! pls help!

You need to flash the stock M919 Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S4 4.2.2 Odin flash firmware.
Here is the link to the official m919 firmware: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213469534/9ff06bd/M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB.zip.html
After flashing all should be good!
Good luck!
Thanks Misterjunky! gonna try that as soon as I get home and let you know my results! :good:
Unfortunately no go.... I flashed the firmware with odin, everything is fine with the ezception of phone calls... pls help!

I'd take the battery, sim card, and SD card out for 30 minutes, then put everything back in and boot up.

I have the same issue, mine is the wind m919v version. after two days of loading software and custom roms and fashing radios I got no service but had 4g and data working. I ordered an unlock code from a site and successfully unlocked it and it worked all last night perfectly with calls and txt. (weird cause its a wind phone and im on wind) Today Iwoke up to data working and emergency calls only again. I checked with another sim and the phone was carrier locked again. only this time putting in the unlock code didn't fix it. It unlocked it again but no service for calls or txt. so the phone can work it has to be something screwing up. so frustrating

Help!
I'm an experienced use, but am totally lost here.
I got the SIM unlock code from Tmobile yesterday, threw in an ATT sim, unlocked it, no problem.
I thought it was working fine yesterday
Then when I woke up this morning, i have no network at all! Just the circle with a line through it.
Anyone have any thoughts/guesses/help? I don't know what to do!

easy test
if you still have any old phone in the house, or borrow a phone from a friend/co worker for a few minutes
just to swap the SIM card and try, then you can quickly figure out if it's an issue with the phone or the SIM
SIM unlocking a phone will not cause the network problem, unless the IMEI is black listed
is the phone able to find any network?
also you can use Odin to flash back to factory stock

at least i dont think its blacklisted....i bought it from a guy on craigslis.
but it worked fine for weeks.
why would this cause a problem?
i called tmobile and they didnt say anything,,,,
Go in to network settings and check network operators. If your phone sees T-Mobile/ATT but you cant connect then that means your phone was blacklisted for either being lost or stolen.

when i type 'search now' it doesn't find ANYTHING.
it stays on 'searching' for a while', doesn't select anything
then it comes back showing tmobile and att.
when i select tmobile (or att) it says, "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
If the phone was blacklisted, why would tmobile not say anything to me (and why would it only stop working now?)

I've been on with (incompetent) people on tmobile for half an hour now...
I would check sim card mine went bad after I took it out of my phone then stuck it in my pocket for a half hour or so when I tried using it it said same thing about connecting to network so I tried my sim in another phone and it didn't work. Use my friends sim and my phone found connection in a few seconds

change the APN settings. there are a few out there that will work but to keep it simple..
go to:
Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile networks>Access Point Names
press the menu button and go to New APN
for the name put "ATT" and for APN type "phone"
leave everything else blank

not a blacklisted phone (according to tmobile).
Since I bought it on craigslist, they wouldn't let me send it back...until I said those three magic words (cancel my account).

I did.
I now believe that this is probably related to the same bug that is causing people to lose their ISDN and have the same loss of radio connection.
see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474504 for one example (lots of others if you look)
Hello. FWIW: Not quite the same problem, but the fix for me might work for you by chance.
When I got my unlock code from T-Mobile then applied it, my phone did register with the T-Mobile network, but it could not receive phone calls.
Using her phone, my girlfriend was kind enough to help me test various scenarios: phone calls in, out; sms in, out; GSM or Wi-Fi; etc. We narrowed it down to no calls in on GSM at least.
Like you I tried rebooting, but I did not get as far as re-flashing, etc. What I did try on a hunch was clearing all user and system apps' cache with Titanium Backup. VoilĂ ! It worked.
I hope that helps you with your phone (assuming you use Titanium Backup.)
hi everyone,
I got my S3 from Bell two weeks ago, it worked fine most of the time including calls, sms and data.
but occasionally for whatever reason the phone cannot make call or send sms, no ring for incoming call also. it shows "not registered on network" when I try to dial. at the time showing this error, there was signal on the bar.
maybe after long time, it can registered itself into network again, but most of the time, I just restart the phone and it works fine again.
I called Bell and they asked me to replace the SIM card, so I did, but I still see this error. So I think it is not SIM issue.
anyone has idea what the cause could be? or is there anyway to fix it?
I tried to search online before I ask, just couldn't find a solution so far.
so post here and hope anyone can help,
thanks for the help in advance.
I've had this issue as well.

I had this problems with rogers as well. Same as you I contacted rogers they told me to remove the sim and replace it. Worked for a while but kept happening. I got fed up and rooted then installed kyan rom and haven't had the problem since. Not sure if it was rom based or if the factory reset before flashing resolved the issue but haven't had it since. Hope someone figures this out though because it's annoying especially on a new phone that is stock.

Had this problem on bell a few times the first 2 weeks I had my phone. Went to the bell store and without hesitation they told me to change the mobile network mode from gsm/hspa+/lte
To just gsm/hspa+.
Reason given was the Lte network where I was using my phone (west island, montreal) wasn't strong enough. So my phone would switch between networks until eventually it got in that state. Personnaly I think the problem was more signal penetration into the computer lab I work in.
It's been 2 weeks stable so far. A co-worker reported the same problem to me last week and he took my advice and hasn't had the problem since.

Thank you very much for the tip. I was wondering that too, because I noticed that the network icon at top bar keep changing between H+ and LTE by itself. and I wonder why too.
I will try and see what happened.
thanks

SAMSUNG i747M not registered on network
I had this samsung s3 i747M from canada. Got it unlocked here in Pakistan. Placed a local sim in it. It recognizes the sim, registers it, makes calls, but then after a while, it shows "not registered on network". i restart, it registers network again, then loses it again. It keeps doing it. sometimes it is registered on network, but can't make or receive calls.
I have tried a number of things but the problem is not resolved and i'm fed up to the point that i want to throw this phone away.
The original rom had android 4.3
here's the list of things i have tried.
* changed the network mode to "GSM only" and "WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)" - NO USE
* Factory data reset a few times - NO USE
* tried a custom rom (it was so bad, i deleted it, don't even remember the name) - NO USE
* stock rom 4.4.2 from "sammobile.com" - NO USE
* tried flashing different modems from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898" - NO USE
* tried changing the options from *#2263# to my network's specifications - NO USE
* tried sims from different networks - NO USE
PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT HERE, I'M DESPERATE
@qamar_ish, what ROM is on your Samsung phone?
Originally it came with android 4.3. Currently it has this kitkat rom, which i downloaded from "sammobile.com".
the filename is this:
I747MVLUFNK2_I747MOYCFNK2_I747MVLUFNK2_HOME.tar.md5
It said on the webpage that it is the stock rom for SGH-i747M

Does your carrier require an AWS-compatible phone? Does the i747m support all frequencies provided by your provider?
I'm not sure about whether an AWS phone is required or not. But it certainly supports all the frequencies provided by the networks here. I checked it by using the code *#2263# and the options have the frequency supported by my networks here, that is "ufone" and "warid"
PS. I'm not an expert on this thing, whatever i'm doing, i learnt it during the last week..

Does your phone show the imei# from the dialpad? Is it possible there is something wrong with the phone's imei #?
It does show the correct imei when i dial *#06#. It had lost its imei initially when i got it unlocked, but got it fixed from someone.

Do you know why it lost the imei during the unlock process? Does the imei # in the phone match the imei # on the label under the battery?
I dont know how it lost imei. The guy who fixed it said that the imei is corrupted and he fixed it. Now it shows the same imei as on the back of the device.
I have never had a Samsung phone lose the imei if the phone was unlocked using a code, assuming that is how your phone was unlocked.
Did you try re-injecting the imei with the efs folder? It can be done using nvwriter.
Ok. I will try that. Can u guide me how to do it? Or share a link or something.
And thanx for helping me out here man..

As for the problem call network operators to say why isnt working on their network.

iv been told that if i flash a different bootloader that would unlock it can someone plz confirm this for me plz tia

Hi terry1256
I'd suggest flashing a new rom as most non stock roms are unlocked. Or search xda for info on unlocking your phone and follow it. Just be patient and stay calm and you'll get it sorted mate.

So had a SGSII, flashed to CM 10.1.2. It had been working before and it had worked last week to call but didnt use it because data wasnt added onto that line yet.
This week, put the sim in, i see the signal bar greyed out with bars.. then empties out again.. it just keeps repeating this... like it wont connect. i tried that SIM card in another phone.. even another SGSII, both work. just this specific SGSII doesnt. I put another sim card into this SGSII, does same thing. I've tried clearing cache/restore to factory and flashing new rom. but doesnt work either
anyone have had this problem before?

blacklisted = meaning someone sold someone else a phone and waited a few days/weeks/maybe even months to call tmobile or carrier and report there phone stolen or lost aka IMEI shutdown .....now they (the seller) profit 2 ways a new phone from carrier and then cash from the buyer

oh no we didnt do that. the phones are all ours. just being passed from person to person. we never called tmobile.
ok so then like @soupysoup said you should check your baseband(RADIO) and make sure the last digits are MC6 for the radio flash this see if your signal comes back http://goo.im/devs/Void_Dweller/SGH-T989_UVMC6_radio.zip

A few weeks after rooting with cf-autoroot I started getting a notification that my phones sim card wasn't being detected, and it prompts me to reboot. Running stock root with twrp recovery. If i dont reboot it just stays in the notification bar. If i do reboot it goes away for the time being. I still have service and phone still works as far as i can tell but something must be wrong. Some days it will happen 5 times sometimes it wont happen for a week but lately its happening a lot. Anyone having the same problem? Or does anyone know of a fix? Update to the newest version of galaxy tools it reduces significantly. You can find it in the themed roms section in the Note 4 forum. When I updated I had almost no lost sim card errors. Now when I updated to lollipop I have no Sim Card errors but I do miss using exposed.

Galaxy Tools does have settings for the Sim Card you know. All I know that when I updated my Galaxy tools to the latest 3.0.8 version my problems went away. I am did not make the program so I am not going to tell you something I know nothing about. Just give it a try and see if it works what do you have to lose?
It's been happening to me the past couple days randomly. Just out of nowhere ever since the first time. Never did this before a couple days ago since I had the phone from launch day. Been on Xnote rc2 with AEL 7.2 kernel.
Edit: I just updated to newest galaxy tools, I'll report back on a day or 2. Strange though that it could be that because nothing has changed at all on my phone in weeks, and for this to just start out of nowhere.
Seems fine so far, updated galaxy tools to newest, and pressed unlocked SIM, whatever that does. I'll report back again if I get the SIM notification

I am glad you had an open mind unlike some closed minded people. Sometimes you just have to experiment and find out what you added to fix your problems. Galaxy tool does unlock the Sim Card for international travel and when I updated my updated my phone to the latest 4.4.4 ROM I started having problems. So figured maybe it might have been the Galaxy tools. So I tried updating it and I have not had any no Sim card problems for almost a month now.

Tried this. Thought it might have worked but only made it about 1 day before the error reappeared.
Edit: i have also gotten a new sim and tried galaxy tools (though I'm not exactly sure what settings i was supposed to mess with). Still get the error.
My Fix
Same problem with the sim card. I'm not rooted and have not used galaxy tools. I opened up the back and re-seated the SIM card (took it all the way out and put in back in) and for the heck of it the SD as well. I haven't seen the problem yet (going on 2 weeks).
