A few weeks after rooting with cf-autoroot I started getting a notification that my phones sim card wasn't being detected, and it prompts me to reboot. Running stock root with twrp recovery. If i dont reboot it just stays in the notification bar. If i do reboot it goes away for the time being. I still have service and phone still works as far as i can tell but something must be wrong. Some days it will happen 5 times sometimes it wont happen for a week but lately its happening a lot. Anyone having the same problem? Or does anyone know of a fix? Any help would be appreciated i haven't been able to find much on it.

Same problem here. Has been happening for quite a while. Haven't had the time to research though. However yesterday it happened while I was on a call and dropped the call. So, yeah, a problem for sure.

Happens randomly to me too
Im stock not rooted and have that issue. Happens usually when im in the out skirts if a wifi network and it keeps comnecting and disconnecting

I did yes. ??
Update to the newest version of galaxy tools it reduces significantly. You can find it in the themed roms section in the Note 4 forum. When I updated I had almost no lost sim card errors. Now when I updated to lollipop I have no Sim Card errors but I do miss using exposed.
What does Galaxy Tools have to do with it?

Galaxy Tools does have settings that affect the sim card.

Galaxy Tools does have settings for the Sim Card you know. All I know that when I updated my Galaxy tools to the latest 3.0.8 version my problems went away. I am did not make the program so I am not going to tell you something I know nothing about. Just give it a try and see if it works what do you have to lose?
It's been happening to me the past couple days randomly. Just out of nowhere ever since the first time. Never did this before a couple days ago since I had the phone from launch day. Been on Xnote rc2 with AEL 7.2 kernel.
Edit: I just updated to newest galaxy tools, I'll report back on a day or 2. Strange though that it could be that because nothing has changed at all on my phone in weeks, and for this to just start out of nowhere.
Seems fine so far, updated galaxy tools to newest, and pressed unlocked SIM, whatever that does. I'll report back again if I get the SIM notification
Did you guys try new sim cards?
Please reply back with your results.

I did. Everything is fine so far. I updated to newest galaxy tools. I had pressed the SIM unlock button to see what happens. I don't even know what that did, but I haven't had no SIM detected again.
Here is the thread for galaxy tools. I updated to newest. Also the name of the app changes to idoneapps.

I am glad you had an open mind unlike some closed minded people. Sometimes you just have to experiment and find out what you added to fix your problems. Galaxy tool does unlock the Sim Card for international travel and when I updated my updated my phone to the latest 4.4.4 ROM I started having problems. So figured maybe it might have been the Galaxy tools. So I tried updating it and I have not had any no Sim card problems for almost a month now.
settings/More Networks/Mobile Networks......set Network Mode to Automatic......this is what stopped mine from doing that sim card error over and over

Tried this. Thought it might have worked but only made it about 1 day before the error reappeared.
Edit: i have also gotten a new sim and tried galaxy tools (though I'm not exactly sure what settings i was supposed to mess with). Still get the error.
My Fix
Same problem with the sim card. I'm not rooted and have not used galaxy tools. I opened up the back and re-seated the SIM card (took it all the way out and put in back in) and for the heck of it the SD as well. I haven't seen the problem yet (going on 2 weeks).

Randomly on Saturday my phone decided it didn't want to have any service so I reflashed the rom which didn't help, I then went to build 29(this is open kang) still no luck so i went back to build 28 and m4 still nothing, I am now on liquid smooth and I still cannot get service. They are both GSM roms and I baseband is not showing unknown. Anyone help?
Luke
Do you have powersave options in the rom? If so, try turning that off, it did work for me (on AOKP 29).
All you need to do is download your radio and flash it! You can find your radio in the development section of the galaxy nexus forum

ndualls and
Neither of the above worked any other suggestion? This just happened out of the blue originally not from flashing
Since it happened out of the blue, did you check with your provider if they have issues? (maybe too obvious, but just checking).
You can try and remove the battery for around 5 mins, and then restart, this way you'll get a clean boot (if Im correct).

Exactly the same mate
A long shot but: Do you have your min CPU on 350 by any chance? Try to change it to 700. A lot of people have these kind of problems and this usually helps...

Im running out of options
You did try going back completely to stock yes?
Edit:
Are there any APN settings visible under accespoints? If so, check with your providers settings to see if they are set correct.

I have tried going back to stock but the toolkit does it and then it just goes back on the old rom
You might want to check with your network to make sure your phone hasn`t been blocked/barred
The same thing happened to my Galaxy S2 which i i bought from Ebay about a year ago. I tried everything to fix it but later found out my phone was blocked when I took it to a Samsung service center.
I would never buy a phone off Ebay again. people sell you the phone and then report it lost/stolen so they can get a replacement.
Also check you IMEI hasn't been changed
Still no luck with this, have even gone back to stock and it hasn't changed

Hey guys, I bought a Galaxy Nexus almost a week back but as its not launched officially in India its not under warranty and so I can't get it replaced.
Out of the box it came with ICS. Everything was going fine including Bluetooth file transfers. But the phone went to a boot loop (stuck at boot animation) when I tried to activate Bluetooth. Mind you that Bluetooth had been working fine, I got this issue all of a sudden.
I went into recovery mode and recovered my phone but all data was lost.
Later I updated to official stock ICS. Again the Bluetooth worked fine for few days and later suddenly went into a boot loop. I recovered my phone but this time too lost all my data.
Now I'm obviously very scared to use Bluetooth. Some people say that its a faulty firmware and I should flash another firmware.
What shall I do? Could this really be a firmware issue? And if yes then which firmware shall I flash and how to flash?
Currently I'm on stock JB on my GSM GNex which is unrooted and has a locked boot loader.

Never heard of this. With all data lost, do you mean the /sdcard partition as well?
I'm sorry I didn't get you. GNex doesn't have a SD card slot, right?

Correct. That's why I said partition.

Well this is my first Android so I don't know much about partitions.
Well when I wipe my phone / factory reset, ALL my data gets removed including images, music, videos, contacts, messages, calendar events, 3rd party apps, etc.
Someone please help.
Bluetooth Boot Loop
Im having the same problem.. Please let me know if you found a solution.. I'll give you update if I find one myself..
The list of Android units that I have encountered this was with
2 units of Asus TF101G and 1 unit TF300T
My TF101G was fixed when I installed a Custom ROM (Revolution HD)
I'm open to rooting my phone but not to unlock the bootloader to keep the warranty..
Hard Reset fixed it but after a few days when I activate the Bluetooth it will start with the Boot Loop.. It's very frustrating to install apps and everything.
Perhaps is it related with the files I installed?
Afaik, bluetooth radio is controlled by the baseband. What version are you guys using?
Im currently using TF300T
Asus Official WW Jellybean ROM
I think It's not related with the JellyBean coz I expereienced it with ICS before when Im using TF101G
The baseband of my GNex is I9250XXLF1. I am on official JB (4.1.1) on yakjuxfw.
Please help me, this is really annoying and I'm very scared to activate Bluetooth now.

You are on the latest baseband and Android version. And since you are completely stock and the problem also manifested itself on ICS, I'm going to say you are probably having a hardware issue there.
That's really sad to hear. And as the GNex is not available officially in India, I can't get it replaced either.
BTW you said 'probably', what can be the other possibility?
Well I too have something to elaborate. Both the times (on ICS and JB), the problem occurred while activating Bluetooth from Notification Toggle (downloaded from Play Store). It's not that whenever I used Notification Toggle did the problem occur. Several times Bluetooth successfully got activated using Notification Toggle.
So as much as I feel that it could be a problem of Notification Toggle, I feel that the opposite is possible too.
Another thing is that I had downloaded a paid app for free from a torrent website. Tapatalk to be precise. Many of my friends suggested that and I wanted to try it out and so downloaded it from torrents. On both bootloop occasions, that 'pirated' copy of Tapatalk was present in my phone.
Now I have purchased Tapatalk, uninstalled that pirated copy, uninstalled Notification Toggle and now I just tried three Bluetooth transfers with my system (2 send and 1 receive) and they took place perfectly. Is it possible that the pirated copy of Tapatalk was causing the issue?
I know it's not ethical and even against the XDA rules to discuss about such pirated copies but I didn't want to hide anything when asking for a solution to my issue.

If the problem happens again, I think you have to return it to where you purchased it from as it may be a hardware defect. Let's just hope it doesn't happen again. And I know you mentioned India does not officially sell the Galaxy Nexus. All the best!

and yes, it happened to me too. Its bootloop, then i took the simcard out, then power on again, but takes a long time, only X logo for more than 10 minutes. Then its going to menu. Then, well, i check the settting, turn on the bluetooth again, bump ! it happened again.
FYI, device not rooted, bought three days ago, and its LOCKED.

Not just in the GNex, it also happens with me in my HTC One V.. I can't find a fix anywhere on the internet? There's no one who can tell why this happens? I change ROMs but still it happens in every ROM! :crying:

i need help guys.. only 4g data works. i can't make or receive calls/text.
not quite sure if i did something wrong in my mod flashing or if i simply got a phone that doesn't work because i bought it off e-bay. and before i activated i installed [JB 4.2.1] XenonHD mod. why? because i didn't have a sim card and wanted to mod it like i was going to anyways.
let me explain to you what i did any, maybe you may see where i went wrong.
i received my phone in the mail yesterday. i realized i would need a sim card because i was on 3G. so i could not activate right away.
i then proceeded to unlock the bootloader using the v10.1.0 nexus tool kit.
after that i used the option on the tool kit that let me use a custom CWM to install a mod. it was the touch one, sry i can't remember the name (derp)
i then installed from zip - the XenonHD file and the Gapps, 4.2.1 version.
i deleted data + cache + dalvk cache
booted up phone and it worked!! (my first mod yay!)
waited two hours for my brother to bring me sim card. he called to activate
the person he was talking to said it wasn't connecting right and would probably have to wait 15 mins.
since then only data has been working. not any of the actual phone capabilities.
so do you think the phone i bought is bad? did i do something bad?
THANK YOU for reading! i know its long..
update!!! i flashed a stock image. 4.1.1 and i have everything working!! ..but i really liked that mod! would it hurt to switch back??
update: went ahead and did the exact same steps to mod my phone. it works as it should this time. I think something went wrong with the activation process. 3g to 4g. hopefully this helps anyone who has the same problem in the future

I put my sim card in (im overseas, so its an international simcard) and the phone recognized my sims network. Well, next I tried making a phone call and thats where I found the problem, the phone simply wont make or receive a call. It tries to, but it hangs up. Sms also doesnt work. Wifi is fine. Everything else is fine. The phone is baseband version VUAMDL. I already flashed the same modem with odin to no avail. Does anyone have a suggetion of what to try next? Thanks a lot!

I have the same issue, mine is the wind m919v version. after two days of loading software and custom roms and fashing radios I got no service but had 4g and data working. I ordered an unlock code from a site and successfully unlocked it and it worked all last night perfectly with calls and txt. (weird cause its a wind phone and im on wind) Today Iwoke up to data working and emergency calls only again. I checked with another sim and the phone was carrier locked again. only this time putting in the unlock code didn't fix it. It unlocked it again but no service for calls or txt. so the phone can work it has to be something screwing up. so frustrating

I would suggest you try another ROM for the time being.
If you still get that issue on another ROM, I would suggest flashing stock, testing and go from there.
Didn't start doing it until I flashed c-rom. Guess I will try another custom ROM. Had my phone for 6 months before I rooted and flashed c-rom and have never seen that message before until now

I know this is probably too late but this recently happened to me on my nexus 5 through at&t service. Ive been using mahdi ROM 4.4.4 for about 5 months now and this just started recently. In mahdi, a built in app called "heads up" (similar to Hover) started displaying, in a pop up, "Restricted Access Changed" so I pressed and held the notification and chose "App Info". It then took me into my dialer settings in which I cleared the data and my data and phone service was instantly restored without reboot. It hasn't popped up once since and that was days ago. I tell you though, before I did what I did it was popping up like every 2 minutes at times. You've probably moved on from this but I see many people having this issue so I thought I'd share what worked for me.
