Porting VibeUI from Lenovo K4 Note - Elephone P8000

hi every one ,
VibeUi , is one of the most amazing and fast Ui you might see , its smooth , colourful and eyecandy it can make us all reThink again about our p8000 , Elephone gave us
a little taste of it last September but it didn't continue its work in fixing some major issues , like the Bluetooth and sim activation , but now we have a better chance to make it work even better ,
The Lenovo K4 Note is the closest smartphone to our Elephone p8000
It has the same processor Mtk6753 , same dimensions and the fingerprint and other specs , so developer wont have hard time porting VibeUi to p8000
here is the stock rom for the K4 note
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/stock-rom-lenovo-k4-note-t3312345
here is also the opensource code files for the K4 Note
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105347
so , is there anyone intrested to make our dream come true???

sure some of the developers of the P8000 will be interested and we can help . Thank you very much for the contribution. I hope soon enjoy this great rom .

I will try to port this. Expect results in 12 hours.

I think P8000 already has vibe...

you could also try to port the rom. everyone started somewhere. and we (the devs) already don't have much time. we do it only in our freetime. and i personally will sell the phone very soon, so also no time to try the port. sorry
PS. maybe i will make a tutorial how to port roms on the 64bit MTK chips. but i don't promise this, everything depends on time

Kernel sources for the M2

Does anyone know if huawei have released the kernel source code for the mediapad m2? I would like to start a port of cyanogenmod to it.

Would be great ... I think the hw is okay but the original sw is ....
I've sent huawei a kind email reminder that the kernel sources need to be published . Let's see if I get an answer at all. Having CM on the M2 would be a great thing
You guys never even bothered to just go to Huawei's website and looking for downloads? The kernel is right there at the bottom of http://m.huawei.com/enmobile/consumer/tablets/detail/mediapad-m2-en.htm , just select the Downloads-tab. It has been there for months by now.
You won't believe how many sites I've been through to find the kernel. That one I never went to. Thanks again for the link!
[edit]
Well... it's not really the kernel I was looking for. It's for the M2 10". It has additional fingerprint reader, bigger screen, etc. If you do the same for the M2 10 inch variant, you get "No results found" in the download section.
After finding the right person to contact, they said the kernel sources should be available as of 12th September 2016. Let's see if that happens. I'll update this thread when I get the sources.
Wow, this would be awesome! I am wondering why such a great device has no additional ROMs.

Those are for the M2-8 variant. The M2-10 has more hardware (stylus). Would be really keen on getting the board config for the 10-inch variant
They finally put up the source code for the M2 10-inch variants!! Even for both flavours (M2-A01L and M2-A01w)!

SM-N7502 Not even getting KITKAT, How can I get it myself?

Hello,
My friend owns a Samsung Note 3 Neo (N-7502) and he wants to update it because it never got any updates from Samsung from the day he got it (Still running 4.3 and other versions at 5.1.1 already....)
I know there's more than a topic of discussions about this, but there's no answers so I thought the people who could help didn't notice this...
It could be CyanogenMod or anything else, just something newer, better.
He could sacrifice the usage of the 2nd sim card for now if that's the only way.
Please if you know a way, help.
Thanks
My girlfriend owns one too. I've searched in a lot of places, but people said that installing something of the single SIM variants on a dual SIM one won't work. If someone knows how to make it work, please tell us.
*Bump*
I've searched a lot for a solution but I couldn't find any.
Would installing a different model's (N7505) rom work?
Would it even boot up?
It is a totally different phone
Duos variant is qualcomm based while other variants are exynos so no ROM other than stock will work for it for now
There is some hopeful trials to build cm12.1 ROM by Firelord but till the moment we are speaking there is nothing
Hope for the best
Best Regards

I had higher hopes.. According to PhoneArena the 750 variant is the one with Qualcomm and the duos (7502) is similar to 7505 processor wise.
Is that wrong?

I'm not sure developers will bother.. But I hope they will.
I don't understand the reason for this... Qualcomm is the most popular processor manufacturer of CPUs so it'd be easier to create a ROM or edit an existing one to work on this phone... I don't understand why the exynos ones are getting more attention.

According to https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ MSM8228 board is used by Samsung G800H (Galaxy S5 mini) and N7502. Also google shows HTC Desire 816 Dual Sim based on the same board and looks like that's all. But these other devices already have custom roms.
Please build a ROM for sm n7502 dual sim variant

Can any of the following Roms be ported to our device!!?

This is a request to @wzedlare and @EypCnn. If possible and if your time permits, kindly try to port the following Roms to our device:
1. Flyme os(recently there has been official ports for many devices by meizu)
2. Color os
3. Miui or any other similar roms not close to stock or LOS.
You guys are already doing a fantastic job for p2 and looks like when Lenovo abandons( or already abandoned??!!) us you will be there keeping our device vibrant. Thanks.
I think it's more important to fix the WiFi tethering and notification led issue first.

Yes of course. That has to be the priority. Was just feeling a bit jealous after going through oneplus 3 n redmi note 3 development threads. I think our p2 also deserves more or less similar treatment.

D-Load a version of the Stock ROM ( 9.5.17.0 if you can... ) transfer it from you computer and flash it..
reboot phone to twrp mode and make a backup of your data if u want data not to be lost.
flash your custom rom,and again go to twrp mode and restore your data excluding(system) and reboot the device.
try it,it worked for me without loss of data.

Not 30 Minutes Ago I pulled the trigger on the Samsung Galaxy A70.
It's only about 6mm taller than the XRN5.. but, packs a 6.7 inch SuperAmoled Display that is simply Incredible.
Samsung's OneUI coupled with a Samsung app called Good Lock.. gives you almost endless tweaks without root access.
The Snapdragon 675 / Adreno 512 SoC along with Samsung Pay having NFC and MST capabilities and 6 GB of Ram / 128 GB of Storage sealed the deal..
Honorable Mention To:
The Redmi K20 Pro
The Asus Zen 6
The OnePlus 7
A little more expensive.. faster.. but not as feature rich as the Galaxy A70..
I'll Stay In Touch.. You've Done A Fantastic Job Helping So Many With The XRN5... Keep It Up Boss! :good:

I just seen that Dark Mode has been implemented..
That's cool.. I've always used Xiaomi's Theme Store.. And I LOVE Dark Themes.. but it's nice for those that like to go from light to dark depending on the time of day.
And Yes.. I've so missed Amoled Displays.. I had a Note 4.. and would STILL be using it if I did not Cheap Out and buy a dang $1.00 car charger & cable..
It burned my Note 4 out! That's been almost 3 years ago... So, I can't wait to fire that puppy up for the 1st time and see 6.7 inches of pure black heaven.. :highfive:

Hi There X..
I think.. if you ask 10 different people.. you'd get 10 different answers..
In my case, Having the Note 5 Pro "Rooted-Stock" has been pretty much perfect. 100% Stable & Fast with Nova Prime and Animations at 0.5.. Viper sounds great.. Quickboot works like a charm.. And Greenify rounds out the reasons that I rooted the stock O.S.
So Why Move On From What Seems Like A Perfect Fit?
1st) Samsung SuperAmoled Displays.. ( My New Device Has A 6.7 inch Screen )
2nd) Samsung Pay (NFC / MST Technology Works ANYWHERE a Debit / Credit Card is accepted ) Google Pay.. Not.
3rd) Samsung OneUI ( In conjunction with an app called Good Lock ) provides Endless System Tweaks without root.
4th) Samsung 's AR Emoji's!!! ( Super Fun To Play With! )
5th) Samsung's Bezel- Less Design..( I'm cool with the Infinity U-Notch.. and you can hide it )
6th) I recently purchase a new Camry.. with Scoutlink Technology.. Toyota doesn't acknowledge Xiaomi devices at all... The Salesperson and I Brought a OnePlus 7 Pro out of a T-Mobile store to see if the Camry software would acknowledge the connection.. No Problem it linked to the OnePlus 7 Pro instantly.. as did a $100.00 Samsung J3 Prime device... Toyota Simply Does Not Acknowledge Xiaomi..
Well.. I think that pretty much sums up my thought process..
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro wins a lot of battle's..
But The Samsung A70 Knows How To Win The War.

Okay that makes Sense. I'm totally different
1. The 6 Inch Screen is totally okay for me and I prefer IPS LCD More. (Sounds maybe weird, but yeah xD)
2. Never used any of the paying technologies, never used NFC on any phone at all and I not really feel like I need it, I still prefer paying with real money that I can hold in my hand, oldschool, but that's how I am xD
3. I'm really in love with MIUI meanwhile and since the S4 I never used Samsung ever again. But yeah the settings I can manage on MIUI are more than enough for me. (I use my phone unrooted since I not like Magisk and I never unlocked it, all offical still and pure Stock since over 7 months, now on offical MIUI Pie
4. Not really Something I personally need ?
5. Even if you can hide it, I hate all types of Notches and avoid every phone that has it and it doesn't matter for me if it's bezel-less or not, so long the phone fits my needs.
7. Cannot say anything to that, since I don't own a car, I don't even have a Driver license with 29 xD Cause here in Berlin/Germany I not really need it since I get everywhere in Berlin just by bus and train really cheap per month.
So as you see, my Points are totally different and as you maybe see I will take good care of my Redmi Note 5 so long as possible. ? And you take good care of your new phone.

Will there even be Custom Roms for Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro???
I really don't like MIUI and the only reason i want this phone is because i wish to install a custom rom to it. My favorite being Resurrection Remix but at this point, LineageOS would be fine too.
Any information on the matter?
Is there any rom even being developed for this?

this happened over 2 months ago and yet there is nothing. "need for testing" hmm okay.
Is it because of the Mediatek chip and them not sharing code?
It seems like there will not be any stable enough custom roms for this phone even tho it was realeased 4 months ago, there is still nothing.
Makes me a bit sad. So great specifications but no custom roms. Damn Mediatek! [if its their fault]
@zaiross At the moment, the main problem is a bug that results in hard brick which can only be recovered by a service centre that has an account authorized to flash in EDL mode (the lowest level of service/flash protocol, even lower than Fastboot). So no development because if a ROM Dev causes the hard brick, they have to pay a fee to service centre to get reflash using EDL.
Also does not help that MediaTek seem not interested in the smaller development community. MediaTek have said they are not interested in a similar partnership with the Linux Code Aurora community that Qualcomm works with. It's a pity they're not interested as I believe it would help increase popularity of MTK chips and increase sales over time.
a programmer could modify sp flash tool so it would bypass asking for authorized account. that would be worth to achieve smth for long time than paying services for bricks
I said this before and I'm going to say it again, you will likely not see any further development for this device in the foreseeable future. Sure POSP is stuck on testing but do any one of you honestly see anyone contributing to testing when they will most likely brick the phone during the process?
This is a dead phone. Some of us have sold it and moved on. I will follow suit soon. I recommend you do too.

thank you, I said the same thing month and half ago and nobody listened me.
mediatek is just a waste of time for any development: customs and gcam
move on and buy Redmi Note 8 or Mi9 Lite or Mi 9T, they do have too many developments and working gcam without need of hard working like wyroczen, and nobody will waste money or dismount for unbricking.
Hey brick problem isn't Mediatek's fault...
I get many smartphone with Mediatek's.
All of them were unbrickable...
On every others, you failed your installation, you opened SP Flashtool and reinstalled the previous Rom.
No code were needed.
If you really do a crappy work, you had to reinstall IMEI in addition...that's all.
But hardbrick was totally impossible on any other Mediatek's device I used.
Then comes the problem of developpers...maybe they had to change their mind...yes maybe it's harder...yes maybe they will have less help...
But the other chipmaker's behavior is too dangerous to keep this situation.

I shouldn't trust xiaomi. It's a pitty what they do to their customers.

I shouldn't trust xiaomi. It's a pitty what they do to their customers.

Since when does Xiaomi claim to support custom roms from the community with any of their phones??
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T seems nice enough.. It has Qualcomm chip in it. Should people with Pro switch to that for example? Or perhaps Xiaomi Redmi K30, Realme X2 or Oppo K5 ....
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro seems great because of specs but MIUI really sucks ass, and like ariber14, i too bought this phone in belief of getting a custom rom to it sooner or later. :/

thank you, I said the same thing month and half ago and nobody listened me.
mediatek is just a waste of time for any development: customs and gcam
move on and buy Redmi Note 8 or Mi9 Lite or Mi 9T, they do have too many developments and working gcam without need of hard working like wyroczen, and nobody will waste money or dismount for unbricking.

I agree with @RenatoNismo and @Helhound0. It's a shame because the Redmi Note 8 Pro is so powerful and a great value proposition, but it's so easy to brick, and Custom ROM development is looking so unlikely now, that it's a real deal-breaker for me.
@RenatoNismo and @Helhound0, which phone do you plan to buy next? The MI 9 Lite and Redmi Note 8 both have Custom ROMS already, and look like good value propositions too, but I'm a bit discouraged by the fact that either of them are going to feel like a "downgrade", now that I've experienced the Redmi Note 8 Pro (i.e. they have weaker chipsets, and in the case of the MI 9 Lite, I'm worried about burn-in unless I really "babysit" it and use low brightness).
Do either of you feel like you would be conceding/downgrading by choosing one of these phones, or is the freedom, flexibility and Custom ROM-friendliness of these phones "worth it" to you?
I would have also considered the Realme 5 Pro or Realme X2, but at the moment, it seems to be impossible to unlock the bootloader for European devices, which of course, makes them not an option for Custom ROMS either.
I am still using Redmi Note 2, my next phone will be Snapdragon only, no more bullsh* of development like customs, gcam, bootloader and xiaomi.eu etc. etc.
in 2015 Helio X10 was promising like G90T was at the launch date, as always like the whole story of every mediatek devices, RN2 was enough for me to learn lesson, but it's good for daily use, even without customs neither gcam which I need, I could waited for months and paid more money for redmi note 3 pro, it's still being developed.
my gf's Redmi 5 is 2 years old cheapest, is being updated and has gcam night sight working better than rn8pro

I just got my OnePlus 5T working so I'll be using that as my daily and my Moto X4 for music. I'll probably keep this until next July and sell it so i can pool in some cash from my bonus and get whatever the flagship OnePlus out at that point. But if i was to make a purchase now, I'll probably avoid XIAOMI altogether. I've been looking into the ROG phone 2 specially since it's not expensive comparing to some other flagships. I'll probably go for that.

It's not, especially when you can just flash a GSI to it.
I have gotten Havoc to work via GSI.
