Best Custom ROM for my nexus 5x !! - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using stock Rom with elementalx kernel. Still facing lag and poor performance.
Please suggest me which Rom with which kernel should i flash in my Nexus 5x to get good performance and battery life enhancement.

I am using PureNexus with 0 issues and go all day on battery. I only play one game so I cannot say it will work for you as I only check in on it every now and then. ElementalX is great! Favorite kernel atm. I would say back up, I use Helium for text, call logs, and the like and flash a couple and try some out.

Thanku so much . i have heard that franco kernel is better for battery performance ? Is that true ? And can i use xposed on pure nexus as well ?

I am using xposed and i haven't tried Franco's kernel yet. Try it out. Just a flash away.

I like ubermallow + phasma kernel, great battery and some nice features so I don't have to install xposed (I've always thought it's just a bit sketchy), or if you don't want more features, uberstock, which is just a more optimized version of android

With PureNexus I've a problem: the battery instead of down to 1 % always comes down to 2 % . It happens to you?

Actually, never had my battery that low lol

I believe what he meant was the percentage drops by 2% each time instead of 1%. So instead of showing 99% of it goes right to 98%.

did u open up the camera and back out to make sure it was keeping ur phone awake?
how often do u have things sync?

Figured out it was largely the camera app that kept waking my phone, also I use delayed lock which drains it a lot as well

[Q] CM10 - FreeXperia Project - Battery drain

hi, i am using sony xperia s with freexperia cm9.1.
the last few times i tried fxp cm10 and experinced a big battery draining. from 99% to 70% in just 3 hours and so on... it was in standby and i just used a few times in that time...
does anyone have the same problem?
i tried it withe the cm10 version 149 and 150 from fxp and i have still the same problem...
i can't ask here because of the "10-Posts-Rule"
when i install the rom, i clear the dalvik-cache and then flash the zip..
do i need to do something else?
The drain can be high at first let it settle and check the drain after you have recharged the battery 2-3 times.. And as always if you have bad 3G coverage it will drain your battery, I always have mine set to 2G, no DATA and no Location services(gps). If I'm only using my phone in a moderate way it lasts 1½-2 days.
Yeah I've been noticing this as of late. I'm having major battery drains and can't seem to find the cause, it's like literally less than 12 hours before I need to recharge?
I'm having the same problem as well... With the Stock Rom and CM9 i could work much longer.
CM10 is eating up my battery...
its not because gps, wlan or whatever..
i've these things always on (CM9) and the battery life is good, but not on CM10
however i'am now on DualCores StockMod and it's veeeeeerrrryyyyy goood
the only issue for me is low incall volume
to all try nova kernel
I'm using that it works good.
even fixes low in call volume.
nova kernel? is it only for cm?
gonna try it tommorrow when the world is still there :fingers-crossed:
" It is for JellyBean ROM such as CM10 and AOKP ONLY."
Use PAC rom and nova kernel. I get really good battery life with that combination. Its been on for 28h now and i have 34% left.

Anyways what is your standby time?

Again, on RR
Im now stock and same happened. Im even on genysys or something rom and i got a custom simplegx kernel, but nooo it drain again.
No matter what rom or kernel I use, my battery just doesn't love me.
Latest cm and tried every custom kernel and 2 of them for stock.
Why most G4 power users that i saw have a great bl on cm and on stock rom?
This probably isn't a rom issue or maybe its not a kernel issue.
And how did i make it in Greece? Im on 2G now!
Is there any secret behind this, its annoying me like every time i see it...
Check your apps. Sometimes bad apps can really screw you. I'm on stock V20H and I get 4h-5h SoT with no drains. V20G was also really good. The old V20D had battery issues and run like crap but the newest are smooth as silk. A rogue app may be the culprit. Check your sync settings and disable any syncs you don't really need. Clearing the app cache can also help sometimes.

Desperate for battery life!

I own Oneplus 3. And the following problem happens on EVERY single rom/kernel combination i've ever tried. (yes, even stock oos rom)
When i'm at home on my wifi connection I can easily get up to 5 hours of screen-on time, but the minute I leave my house and switch to 4G I can barely get 2 hours of screen-on time. Even with data TURNED OFF Android OS and Cell Standby use most of my battery.
I have no idea what to do anymore.
How good is signal strength in the areas you frequent....did you also get bad battery life on full stock? Are you matching roms with the correct firmware and modem?
Try to use AKT.... and use a profile like X.A.N.A....... might help you:

Signal is pretty good. First two months on full stock i got great sot but then it just got worse. What do you mean by matching firmware or modem. How do you know which one is the right one?
If u could send us a screen shot of the 'exact' drain you are currently having. What is your usage? Etc.
The ROM developers for the custom roms you've been trying will normally tell you the best firmware and modem package for that ROM....like I use a version of freedom OS based on OOS 3.2.8 with the firmware for that particular build...there is a thread on xda with a collection of all the firmwares if you do a little search. It might also be thast some apps are running rampant.
Try enabling aggressive dose. Also, post your battery usage here for more information. Personally, i prefer using Greenify with Xposed IF you are on marshmallow, else try using Greenigy with root on Nougat.

Facebook is the biggest cause for battery drain. Hibernating that should be your first priority. Furthermore, try disabling messaging apps that support GCM (whatapp, hike etc) It might cause you some delay in receiving texts but i guarantee a better battery life.
this battery drain doesnt sound normal.
you should check the logcat (App: CatLog for example) if there many errors somewhere that happen again and again and drain your juice.
what system are you running now?

Do we have a rom with quick charge and is compatible with HDR+ Google camera?

Here is the dilema:
Currently I am using the latest RR5.8.5. It is the final version of Nougat and will not be updated. I am quite happy with this rom. The only problem is that I can not use the latest HDR+ google camera (always FC). It seems that the AOSPA is the best compatible rom with HDR+ google camera. But as far as I know, there is no quick charge feature in AOSPA. All the Oreo roms are still at the early stage with huge amounts of bugs. I don't want to return to EUI 5.9 (marshmellow) either since it is not officially supported anymore. Do we have a good rom with both QC and HDR+?
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.

Just my take , I had onnia for a while however it was not compatible with all variations of Google camera. Switched to paranoid and got better call column and every single modded Google camera app I have installed has worked. Also quick Charing works great. While charging your led flashes letting you know it's in a wyci change state and when it goes back to normal speed your led.goes solid, which usually happens around 90%

"SOT?"
Can you describe what this means? it's not clear.
Edit: Nevermind are you referring to battery life?
If so, it was better with stock. However, in my opinion the stock rom was too restrictive. For example, I missed alot of notifications while using the stock rom.
Next, I installed Greenify with root using Magisk. : With excessive usage my battery life is at least one full day and with casual usage the battery will last for days.
With Paranoid, quick charge is incredibly fast. In fact, much faster than what stock provided.

thanks for reply , can u show how long SOT in paranoid and SOT in stock rom ?
Don't forget that we have BlackScreen kernel which works on many different roms. Its Alucard governor is very good to the point I ditched Advanced Governor Tweaks. It had idle drain issues but fixed since a few months ago. I highly recommend it.

I can but not at the moment. I just woke up and checked my battery that was fully charged 6 hours ago and it's still at 99%.
See screenshot, and I will send another one at a the end of the day.
FYI, I did not save any battery records from when I was using stock, nor did I make any effort to studiously track and graph out usage. My comments are based on my best estimated guess.
In my opinion, current battery life using Paranoid is better than any other phone that I have personally used and I have over 100 apps installed, including substratum.
I also use the phone for some multi-track audio recording, some games, a lot of YouTube and a lot of music listening.
I don't really pay a lot of attention to battery life because it is has been a non issue. Obviously the battery will last much longer if I am just listening to music or just talking on the phone.
After I installed, paranoid I noticed battery life was slightly degradated, so I installed Greenify.
On a typical day of heavy usage, the battery life will last from wake until bedtime: 17-18 hours, and still have 20 to 30 percent left when connecting it to the charger.
Next, I have not timed the quick charge. But I estimate that it will charge from 20% to 90% in approximately 30 minutes. Which in my recollection is much faster than charging using the stock ROM.
At the end of the day, it's totally worth switching from stock to a custom ROM. In my experience, Paranoid is a great option. I haven't tried the Omni ROM.
From what I have read, Paranoid is one of the few Roms in which everything works.
Although paranoid has 4 themes built in. Substratum allows a greater degree of control with theming. Again, battery life is very good and If you don't like the ROM there's many options. Plus it's very easy to just go back to stock.
