Im looking for a stock rom with no changes to it that allows me to keep root. I Looked through all the older threads in development but it seems there have been updates and such. Right now I am running CM 6.1 and it seem my batt is dying way faster then it did on a stock rom. I'd like to compare them and such. If anyone has one or can point me in the right direction i'd be happy! Thank you!

Yes, I am experiencing higher drain as well. Search the development section for cr_mod, look for the CR_Mod OTA 1.35.something. It's the rooted stock ROM with a wireless tether built in, OTA update and all. That's what your looking for. I flashed dumfuq's OC 4.0 kernel over the stock ROM and got better battery life than the stock HTC kernel, so I also recommend doing that. I'm on cm6.1 stable now, so I can easily modify themes, since it's AOSP based, and also so I can use the gingerbread latin_IME keyboard, since you need at least froyo to do that.

Hey thanks! I went back for about 8 hours and hated it. Im back on CM 6.1 and im getting terrible battery life still. IDK, I am going to try and reformat my SD card and reflash at a full battary etc. I migh ttry the kernel, but, I really don't want any OC of any kind, just maybe a lower standby setting, something in the range of 50mhz while the screen is off or something.

I cant see how formating an sd card could help. Anywho, cm 6.1 has the oc kernal already built into it. You dont need to flash any kernals, just use setcpu to adjust the speed.

50 MHz is too low. 245 is the lowest option

I said try flashing dumfuq 4.0 over it because I THINK, not positive, but I was speculating that cyanogen had modified the kernel slightly that was causing a battery drain issue, because I stopped having so many issues with it when I flashed dumfuq's 4.0 kernel over it. Sounds weird, but it helped. I still have an occasional glitch where something is holding a wakelock on the system and it won't go to sleep, which is really annoying, and I think I traced it back to the music app, but still not sure there. I've been off of the charger for over an hour, with just 11 minutes of screen on and screen is 71% of the usage while cell standby is 11%, that's what makes me think flashing dumfuqs 4.0 fixed it. Cyanogen must've made a modification.
So, also @ the OP, go into spare parts battery history and see what is using it. If "running" is up above like 30 or 50% then you have something holding a wakelock, go to partial wake usage, and look at the app or UID that's got the wakelock. Rebooting normally gets rid of the lock for me, like I said, haven't quite figured it out yet.
First issue is the battery life drains really fast. Is there any fix for that or is this only due to destroyer v2? Next the GPS doesnt work & just says searching for GPS...Next that cool little animation when you press power that looks like a TV screen turning off no longer works..if anyone can help please let me know!

You need to wipe batt stats when switching ROMs, esp between Sense and AOSP. I would try charging to 100% and wiping stats. If that doesn't help, try charging for 8hrs, unplug, turn off, charge for an hour, unplug and turn on for two min, turn off and charge for an hour.
For GPS, google CM7 gps fix or ##gpsclrx#. Edit: nevermind, here it is:
Backup destroyer
wipe everything
Flash or restore sense ROM
dial ##gpsclrx#
let phone reboot
open maps and get a lock, let it stay locked for a few min
go back to recovery and wipe everything again
restore destoyer
For screen animation, check spare parts settings and make sure window animations are set to normal. Then check menu>settings>cm settings>display and make sure screen off animation is checked.
I never changed anything for the animation to stop working...It just stopped working all the sudden & still wont work no matter what I do..
Try a savage zen kernel for bat life I used .1.2 bfs and got 18+ hours on moderate use. Titanium backup wipe andreflash rom. I had a bug and that fixed everything

But did you look at the things I mentioned? If the animation is on and spare parts window animations are set to normal, wipe and reflash.

I agree! I had the Destroyer on my phone with the Sav-Zen kernel on it as well and it worked great on battery life!
Does anyone get the issue of the phone going off on its on after a few seconds? Also whenever browsing the web the phone dims on its own after a few seconds & I have it set to 1 minute....
What savage zen kernel were you guys using? Can you link me? Comparing the sprint lovers sense rom to CM7 battery life is horrible with cm7. w/the same amount of usage on sprint lovers my batt lasts all day whereas the cm7 dies half a day..
I get better battery life with the Tiamat Kernel.
How much better batt
how much better? Is it equal to Sprint lovers sense rom? What tiamat version are u using? jsta are you on CM 7 or something else?

I would stay on stock or try faux for overclocking and undervolt i here good things about franco.

that is the problem with us xda folk, doesn't matter how good something is we will make it better, faster and better , just get a non overclocking kernel if you're worried and don't tick any "apply on boot" till you know things are stable.

ncx-217 V7.5 Is my favorite kernel, it has improved my battery life by almost 10% Right now im running IceColdJelly and nxc-217. I highly recommend this kernel!
Hi!
I'm running the Domination (build 6) and the faux-007m, and it's great! Super smooth and a lot of juice. Charging every other night :good: good enough for me, then... Good luck finding your super combo
@schmuts
Have you tried faux? In that case, what made you go with ncx? (I know they're both nice )
@bjornops Yes, i used faux-007 when i used to use the CM10 Domination. But when i switched to IceColdJelly AOKP ncx-217 it is also made for IceColdJelly.
thanks all
im on 010m
If battery life is what you're after, go for the ncx 0.99 (older version). This is the non-2.17 kernel base.
I'm now using the CM10 Nightlies rom with ncx-217_v7.6 AOSP karnel
and it seems the best combo for battery life.
I undervolted a lot (-100mv) and working on 1GHZ speeds and able to get 4-4.5 hours
of screen time. (with wifi use) The best for me so far ...
Are you getting better results with viper?
I'm getting nearly 5 hours of on screen time with the stock kernel and OrDroid ROM.

How are you using your device to get those 5 hours?
Mostly wifi/3g/2g?
Push? Auto sync?
Downclock?
Do you mainly surf/play games/video?
What screen brightness most of the time?

I have 3G and Wi-Fi always on. (No turning off wi-fi when phone sleeps)
I have Facebook, Mail, Gmail, Twitter all syncing and push notifications on.
Stock kernel, so no speed tweaks.
I don't play action games. Mostly Words with friends, Draw Something, Seige Hero, Solitaire, Fruit Ninja. That's basicall all the games I play. Most of the time I am on Tapatalk, Facebook, Instagram, RSS Readers and news services.
60% screen brightness
WOW! that's fantastic battery life!!
I could never get such numbers on the stock rom.
(And I'm a VERY economic user)
Is that orDroidX that different then original sense ?

It's a Sense based ROM, but has some of the 'project butter' stuff from Jellybean. You can also install it with the De-Sense option that uses Nova or Apex as the launcher.

Just wondering what the best kernel is to flash to the stock UCLJ3 rom?
I'm suffering crazy battery drain since updating. I've done a ton of things including a full wipe and reflash, and it's still happening.
Only thing I havent tried, or done before is flash a kernel...
Any recommendations?

Haven't had any trouble with the battery drain using IcePop rom! but of course flashing any new rom, you have to let it settle for 1 to 2 days / charge cycles for the os to stabilize!
I've been running it since day of release.... Using battery apps all reports that the Android OS using a heavy % and/or the phone isnt always going into deep sleep.
And its happening even before I put a google account on or install any apps.
I suppose I could go back to G9 or the H2 release... might do it as a test, to see if it really is the J3 release thats causing me problems.

When I was unrooted on stock I would usually get about 16 hours a day on batter. I rooted and used stock rom and same battery life. My battery life started draining after I started flashing roms. I had goodness rom and had great battery life for about a week. Then it started draining like nuts. So I switched. I am now running on FREEGS3 I did a complete wipe and to no avail I get bad battery life. I used titanium backup and removed some bloatware but still only getting about 7 hours of battery life. I stay on wifi at home. It drains faster if I am connected to 4G. What am I doing wrong here? I thought freegs3 was supposed to have insane battery life. Any help is appreciated...
Not a clue you provided 0 information to help us help you. Specific rom build, kernel, settings for screen, sync, etc battery stats in a screen cap
Download better battery stats and open it and let it sit in the background for a day then check the stats and post a screen cap that'll give more info to go on. No one can tell you why your battery life sucks from "my battery life sucks, help"

What evil said for sure...but I can tell you it has to b your settings or a rogue app because I get insane battery life from FreeGS3 v2.0.0. I don't have LTE available too me yet, but I always leave screen brightness on high, auto sync on, Wi-Fi, data and Bluetooth always on and with moderate use I routinely get 15-16 hours and one time with lite use I got 1 day 3 hours. I did disable the connection optimizer through titanium backup.

Info
Sorry for the lack of info in the last post. I'm still new to all this. I've rooted a Droid Charge, Galaxy Nexus and an EVO 3D but never used the forums for anything other than finding ROM's, so forgive my ignorance. Any ways, here's some info.
ROM: FreeGS3 JellyBean v3.0.0 - I installed it with the stock rom and the stock kernel it came with, but replaced the kernel to include bootanimation supper.
Kernel: LJ7KernelWithBootanimationSupportFIXED.zip Which shows up as below under "About Device" in the settings.
Kernel version
3.0.31-329968

As for screen settings, I have all of the power saving options enabled under power saving mode in the settings; CPU power saving enabled, Screen power saving enabled, Background color enabled, Turn off haptic feedback enabled. Automatic brightness is on also enabled.
Here's a screenshot of the battery screen under settings. This is after a full charge. I just downloaded BetterBatteryStats and will repost the results tomorrow. Going to let it run all night as I use it.
Thanks and sorry again. Will try to do better.

Here's some screenshots I took a little bit ago. The media thing has disappeared from the battery stats altogether. The settings under my google account were all checked, but I did uncheck as you see in the screenshot. I also have a samsung apps account but disabled the sync in it already. Those are the only two accounts I have. The "Media" already disappeared before I unchecked picasa and google movies and tv, neither of which do I use. I do use google play music though. Could that had been what was appearing in the battery stats earlier as media? Other than these few settings in my google account and the samsung account I don't know what else could be syncing. What is the "Internet" sync for under the google account and should I uncheck it?
Thanks

I dunno guys. It has gotten sporadic. The other day my battery lasted 9 hours. Then I charged it and it only lasted 5 hours. One time I check on the battery under settings and it said that the "Android OS" was using most of the batter. The last time I check it I got a screenshot and it said that the "Phone" was taking most of it and I didn't even call any one. I'm thinking of just doing a true wipe, and unrooting the phone and counter reset. Just to see what battery I get by going comoletely stock. Then maybe rerooting it. At the moment, I don't know what is happening and I really don't think the rom or the kernel has anything to do with it. I installed betterbatterystats and I don't know really know how to read the data.. I'm just stumped... blegh...

EvEFreeze the Sprint connections optimizer.
I've read those power saving mode things are counterproductive so i don't use them.
One thing that drastically helped me was navigating to system/bin using a file explorer, locating gsiff_daemon and qosmgr and renaming them to include .bak at the end. These are know battery hogs although I'm not smart enough to tell you why. You can always rename them back if it doesn't work. Be sure to reboot after renaming.

I did locate qosmgr as I noticed it was going nuts when I would display the cpu usage under developer options. I have heard of the other one but haven't noticed it running. Oh well may as well give it a shot. I have the connection optimizer turned off so it won't keep searching for a wifi connection and I can just turn wifi on and off as wanted. I do, however have the power saver options turned on. They worked great for me when unrooted. Hmm. Next task will be to locate that other file and rename it. Worth a shot.
