Unfortunately, this device does not OTA be updated because it is not within the region of the United States, because the update is launched by mobile operator AT & T, who personalize the software to be working within USA. Other than that, the software was modified to its original configuration:
cidnum: 11111111 <----- This CID does not match the M8 phone AT & T US .
To try to return the device to the original software, you will have to repay the aforementioned parameter to the original configuration. This is a fairly easy process. At this time, HTC officially does not support changing the cidnum: 11111111 our devices and that is why websites should explore support third-party development to find a straight answer about modifying the cidnum.

Hi there
thanks for answering
could you tell me how to do it
Best regards
No need to change the CID to update to Marshmallow.
If the bootloader indicates LOCKED or RELOCKED, simply try to run the Dev Edition Marshmallow RUU posted near the bottom of the following: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
If the bootloader is UNLOCKED, you will need to relock it before RUU, with the command: fastboot oem lock
Also, be aware that RUU will wipe the phone. So backup any personal data you want to keep on computer, cloud, etc.

One possible hitch, is that you may have to first find and flash the 6.12.1540.4 firmware zip before you can RUU. This isn't normally a requirement for running an RUU, but for some reason folks are encountering this on the MM RUU.
Let us know if you get an error message (and what number, or other error info) when running the RUU.
Not work

But to summarize:
1) Download this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087009972
2) fastboot oem rebootRUU
3) fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Where "firmware.zip" is the actual file name of the file downloaded in step 1 (you can rename the file if you like).
4) Run command 3 again
5) fastboot reboot-bootloader
6) Run the RUU again

I gave step by step instructions. You'll have to be more specific what part you don't understand.
In other words, I don't understand what you don't understand.
You run the fastboot commands the same way you did fastboot getvar all (to get the data for your Post #1).

You ran fastboot command to get the info you posted in Post#1 above, didn't you?
You run the commands from the directory wherever fastboot.exe is located (that location depends on how you installed fastboot).
Find that folder in Windows, then Shift-Right Mouse button, click "Open command window here".
firmware.zip also need to be located in that same folder (where fastboot.exe is located).

Clockwork recovery
Soooo i bought the M8 secondhand with Cyanogenmod installed, however, i couldnt do any updates due to error status 7. i tried the normal fix (delete code which checked authorisation of phone) but to no avail. since then the error came back and i managed to get a different error on reboot: "root access possibly lost. fix?". I've cleared cache(s) and done a factory reset. No matter what i pressed it would be in a boot loop. I can still get to bootloader and recovery. then i tried to change the recovery to TWRP however when i try and fastboot, my device is not recognised by my laptop so i cannot add the ADB driver to the device.
sorry for sounding very vague / idiotic, i have no idea what i have done and no idea what i am doing to try and fix it. that means sadly i will need to be spoonfed the fix. if you need any more details or pictures of the problem let me know
thanks in advance

Are you trying to update to CM12.1? If so, the error is for a reason, and not to be bypassed in the way you describe.
If you are on an hboot older than 3.19, I don't think it will work with CM12 and 12.1. You'll need to update hboot (and rest of firmware, preferably) to proceed.
Also, CWM may be too old for CM12 as well.

Not sure what you mean here. Are you trying to install HTC Sync (and corresponding driver) by connecting the phone?
You can just do an XDA search for "simple adb" and you will find a couple really easy adb/fastboot installers.
how do i see what hboot i am on? and how would i update it?
i've installed HTC Sync but it doesn't recognise my phone being connected (so i cant view any files on the phone) and i've installed a simple ADB/fastboot but i can't see the driver option when trying to add it to my phone on Device manager. i have got to the stage whereby i have the ADB/fastboot folder and have the TWRP file in the same folder, just i cant get any further.
where would i begin getting to cyanogenmod 12.1, or would it be easier to revert back to a basic android os?
i know this is probably incredibly frustrating for you as i am a complete novice, but i greatly appreciate your help
i would post pictures to help but i cant as im a new member, i will when i can

This in itself does not mean the phone is not connecting by fastboot. And fastboot is the important thing here, so we can update TWRP, etc.
Try rebooting into fastboot mode, and try the command and see if your phone's ID is returned: fastboot devices
If you don't get the phone's ID and just "waiting for device" you do indeed have some type of USB connectivity problem.

Boot into bootloader, andyour hboot number is listed near the top of the screen.
Since you are s-off, its fairly easy to update the firmware (and I would suggest to update all the firmware, not just hboot) by flashing the proper firmware.zip. But let's determine whether that is even the problem, before we worry about flashing firmwares.
hboot is: 3.16.0
also my phone is detected by my laptop so all is well there
i have installed a simple 15 second ADB file but am unsure how to proceed from here

Your firmware is very old, so will need to be updated to run CM12.1. Also, newer versions of TWRP will not run with your old hboot.
Do a fastboot getvar all, and post the output, but delete your IMEI and serial numbers (as these are private info). Need more details on the phone (particularly CID) in order to know how to proceed.

I'm going to suggest WWE/International firmware. The updates are available way before O2 updates.
Download this firmware (it also includes TWRP2.8.4.0). Rename it to firmware.zip and place it into your fastboot folder.
Next, boot into fastboot and change your CID to superCID (it won't flash with the O2 CID)
fastboot devices to make sure you are connected (a bunch of letters and numbers/your serial# means you are)
fastboot oem rebootRUU (a black screen with the HTC logo means you are in RUU mode)
fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (eight ones) You are now superCID!
Now flash the firmware
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
If you get "error 90 hboot pre-update" (and you probably will with how old your current firmware is) run the same command again and the firmware will flash properly. The first run only updated your hboot.
The process will stop at 75% to 90%. That's normal and gives you a chance to check your console output. The last few percentage is the reboot.
The bar will fill to 100% after you enter fastboot reboot-bootloader
That's it. Good luck!
thank you both so much! so now do i just download the appropriate cyanogenmod version and flash it over?

I'm having a problem being able to launch apps on my One M8 ATT... I Don't have any apps on my home page and ATT Ready2Go keeps crashing on me. Can someone give me a command line so I can launch SunShine on my device through ADB, that way I can S-Off and go back to a different ROM.
Why would you need s-off to install a different rom ?

The phone won't allow me to install anything through an RUU. Every RUU I've tried fails with a 155 Reason (Incorrect RUU) and shows "Loading zip file fail!" in the bootloader. A friend of mine has been working on it, got SunShine installed on the phone. But we want to run it to get the phone in to S-OFF. I'm not too savvy with ABD and that's what he's been using to talk to the phone. I also can't transfer items to the phone via USB even though I have drivers and MTP is running. The phone is a mess and I'm trying to avoid sending to HTC to restore it ($$$$$), or just telling my carrier that I "lost" it and pay the deductible to get a new one. Feels like I'm really close to fixing the phone, just not quite there yet.
If you know of a ROM I could try to flash, I'll give it a shot. I'm running out of options and time. Before I just get a new phone. My friend has helped me out a lot, but it's just not quite there yet.

You need to relock your bootloader in order to run an RUU while you are S-On.
In fastboot: fastboot oem lock
Then run the proper RUU again.
I'd link you to the proper RUU, but you haven't given enough info.
In fastboot: fastboot getvar all and post the results minus your IMEI and ser# (private information), unless you already know what the proper RUU to run is already.

The RUU you need can be found here.
Scroll down to the Manual System Update Instructions, and read them. The RUU download is at the end of the instructions.
You can unlock the bootloader again through HTCDev.com. After you are unlocked, flash TWRP from here in fastboot, then use that recovery to flash SuperSU from here.

I can NOT appreciate and thank you for your assistance in this! I went ahead and locked the bootloader and restored the original image with the RUU you linked me to, yesterday. Couldn't wait to try, haha. I had to sweet talk the HTC Live Chat person to tell me if I could use the RUU for the same software version as I had. Phone has been working like a champ. I'm gonna give it another day or two to settle in, do a few backups just in-case the flash doesn't go well.
I will definitely unlock the bootloader again and flash TWRP and SuperSU. But I imagine going S-OFF is just off the table right now since I'm a bit stripped of funds. I can afford it, haha, but my funds are already allocated towards adulting and such.
Again, THANK you for the support! This has been a learning experience.:good::good::good::good::good:

reflash your device firmware which will install the stock adsp, or use the HK/BS switcher that available in development section and choose to install Boomsound ... or find any flashable adsp zip.
On non-sense rom like cm14.1, flash firmware or flash adsp only no need to change to Sense rom.
Bs/Hk switcher only when on Sense rom, won't work on cm14.1

You don't really need the whole stock ROM (if it is RUU), you only need firmware.zip which has adsp.img in it.

You need the verizon adsp, not sure if GSM one is same.
Later when I'm home .. I'll make one for you based on VZW firmware.
I'll be home in 3 or 4 hours.

Sorry I don't get you .. this is a BEFORE getvar ?
What's the current ? If there is a new one .. let me have a new one. I need to see the current one to know your device better.
I never see a M8w changed to M8x before.
If you only change CID&MID to Asia_WWE but not flashing any X.XX.707.X firmware .. your firmware still M8w only CID/MID is the problem which is really easy to fix.
Anyway, for now you want to fix the sound problem only, right ?
I get back to you tomorrow after you give me more info ... time to bed now .. good night.

You don't need the full firmware to fix the sound problem.
Your getvar has mixed details - version-main is Marshmallow but the baseband is lollipop. I will give you the Marshmallow adsp first then see whether that will fix your sound problem.
If you want to change back to stock MID 0P6B62000, here is the code
Code:
echo -ne '\x30\x00\x50\x00\x36\x00\x42\x00\x36\x00\x32\x00\x30\x00\x30\x00\x30' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=1 seek=16384
For the CID - I suggest you change it to SuperCID 11111111
You can do these CID/MID changes later. Below adsp is flashable on any CID/MID (GSM)
Same how-to as the previous one for OP.
NOTE : If anyone else downloaded this 0P6BIMG.zip, you need to edit (use Notepad++) the mainver: 6.18.1400.1 to your current firmware no.
if not then your bootloader will show OS-6.18.1400.1

UPDATE:
I solved the problem reinstalling stock firmware (I had to re-lock bootloader, my device is S-ON) then re-unlock bootloader and re-install recovery image all via fastboot.
Once done this, I reinstalled my backup from recovery... and the problem was solved, audio is back..!!!
-
I have no audio in phone too. I don't know if it the same issue as is being fixed on this thread, but my phone is not working either. I can use sim data, texting, but cannot make or receive calls, and no audio works.
In case this can be fixed by your flash zip file, i would ask if it is possible for one to me made that would work with my phone.

Has the phone been modified with custom ROM, or ever s-off, change CID, flash another carrier's firmware, etc. (to the best of your knowledge)?
The main version 6.13.771.4 (which indicates the current firmware) doesn't correspond to O2, as far as I know. The "771" versions correspond to H3G carrier. Firmware numbers for O2 should have "206" such as 6.13.206.5. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how the "771" firmware could have been installed unless it was modified with s-off, change CID, etc.

How exactly did you "update" (or try to update)? Please describe step by step, using as much detail as possible (exact file names, results for each step, error messages, etc.), the exactly what you've tried to do.
Also, please do fastboot getvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number before posting).
Also, is the bootloader locked, unlocked or relocked (as indicated near the top of the bootloader screen)?
OS number 3.xx indicates you are still on KitKat.
Don't try any other modifications until we get more details about the phone; and give you specific instructions. Specifically, you have the Verizon variant, which is different from most other M8 versions. And if you are following guides intended for other versions, it can be a big problem. Flashing firmware (with s-off) for anything but the Verizon version can results in no network, and possibly even permanent damage. The situation is probably reversible, but we need more details to see what you've done.

As far as I know, there is no Marshmallow update for your device variant.
If you update it using Verizon firmware/RUU .. you won't get any network.
You need to install the correct RUU for your device and your network may work again.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67506065&postcount=25
He can change back to SuperCID later but still no point to have SuperCID on this device variant .. you can't change it to any other firmware.
LRA RUU & OTA sometime won't play nice with SuperCID/SuperMID

now after i saw @ckpv5 post i get it
to change MID to the proper MID for your device you need a rooted rom on the device
or just custom recovery TWRP ( recommended )
then after flashing TWRP reboot to recovery and allow system modification
then connect the device with your PC and open cmd window, and type
adb shell
press enter then just copy the next command and paste it in your cmd window ( don't try to write it by your self ) and press enter
Code:
echo -ne '\x30\x00\x50\x00\x36\x00\x42\x00\x32\x00\x30\x00\x30\x00\x30\x00\x30' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=1 seek=16384
after sending the above command type exit and press enter
then in TWRP menu choose to reboot to bootloader and change CID to LRA__001
follow this post instruction to change CID
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67506065&postcount=25
after you changed MID & CID proceed to flash again this RUU.zip from this post

Is there a solution without s-off
Tried Stock rom:
RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_4.16.154 0.8_Radio_1.24.21331147A1.09G_20.68.4196.01_F_rele ase_411207_signed.exe
RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_4.16.401.10_Ra dio_1.25.214500021.06G_20.68.4196t.01_F_release_41 7003_signed.exe
RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.154 0.4.exe
with bootloader locked/unlocked state;
with s-on:
Failed
Tried zip
0P6BIMG_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_6.12.401.4 _Radio_1.29.214500021.12G_20.72.4196t.01_release_4 64360_signed.zip
Failed
Tried nandroid backup
M8_UL_TWRP_Nandroid_6.12.401.4.zip
succefully flashed backup but stuck on htc logo
Failed
Please help
What is the problem? Is it not booting into the ROM?
when there was boot.the phone at the startup gave (unfortunately------- has stopped)error and also no back key home key visible.
wiped the device. it was all same.
tried RUU it was the same
unlocked the boot loader
and flashed
stock recovery
twrp recovery
then tried nandroid backup restore
the restore was succefull but the phone wont reach startup (tried 1Hour max)
one peculiar thing i notice.earlier when it was booting to startup i was unable to copy anything to internal or external memory as it would say device not ready or disconnected.but i was able to browse the folders.
My opinion partition problem.Need others help to sort out
Note all the files i have mentioned is checked with md5

None of these will ever work on your device, in the s-on configuration. The RUUs containing "BrightstarUS" are for the US Developer's Edition. They won't run on your phone, as they will fail CID and MID checks (your device has CID and MID - can't change these with s-on).
The one labeled "Europe" is for an older version (Lollipop) than what is installed on the phone (Marshmallow). This will fail version check. By definition, you can't "downgrade" by RUU with s-on
with bootloader locked/unlocked state;
with s-on:
Failed
with s-on, its absolutely mandatory to have a locked or relocked bootloader to flash RUU. Unlocked bootloader will make it fail
Tried zip
0P6BIMG_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_6.12.401.4 _Radio_1.29.214500021.12G_20.72.4196t.01_release_4 64360_signed.zip
Failed
This is the correct RUU for your version, and should run with s-on. Saying it "Failed" with no other info, is not enough. Were their any error messages, other outputs, etc.? What commands did you use to run it? Were you in fastbootRUU mode?
I would suggest trying to run this again, with the bootloader RELOCKED, and you also need to use htc_fastboot, as the "generic" fastboot will not work with RUU.

I can't tell what you are referring too, as the statement is really vague. Can you give more details?

Its best if you posted the solution, and what the mistake was. Useful for those helping (to see whether we sent you on the right path), as well as anyone else reading which may have the same or similar issue.
No mistake is that silly when it comes to these devices. Its often just specific knowledge that was missing, or a detail you didn't catch before (which is an honest mistake, either way).
