HTC Sync is the best way to get the USB drivers, there's a link to it in that guide. It's in the Support section of the HTC website.

Thank you. But I have tried this one too. I installed the G2 driver, but when I run adb on cmd, it gives me no device found.
cntrl+alt+del and force close the adb tasks... and retry.

Have you checked the guide I linked to above ? Use the drivers from HTC Sync, as in the guide, that should work fine.

Did you take the adb.exe and adbwinapi.dll and copy or move them to the \windows\system32 directory so you can run adb from any dos directory prompt.
You know what? I didn't even think about that. Ill give it a shot as soon as I go home. Thanks

dont know how adb still doesnt find my semi-bricked tmobile g2 phone. Once im in fastboot and hook up through usb it installs the adb android interface drivers, but once i go into adb and put in adb shell or adb devices its stil saying device not found. im using the usb wire that came with the htc evo shift which is the same exact usb as the g2 from what i know.

cannot install adb?

Hello, i downloaded android-sdk_r08-windows and then ran 'sdk manager' but i dont know what to do next. Can anyone help me?
Install the ADB Tools kit from the list of available packages
I downloaded 'android SDK tool, revision 8' is this the one?
That's the one. Bare in mind the actual adb app won't be in /tools as guides say it will be - it'll now be in /tools/platform-tools
Seems Google changed it's location
WHen i connect desire it asks me for driver, what should i select? Pls bear with me, im new with htc phones
still waiting for reply....can anyone help me?

HTC Sync is compatible with all HTC devices, it's just that the Desire has problems connecting with the new version Sync. Use the HTC Sync that came with your phone (on the SD Card).

[Q] Root/Re-Flash ONE M8

Hey guys.
I got an HTC ONE M8 today, I've had a lot of android phones before (majority being samsung) and one being a Nexus 4.
I know how to root on Samsung using Odin on Windows.
But I'm not sure and don't understand how to root my phone, also I don't know how to flash a Google Play edition ROM (or a ROM which looks like Stock).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oli
If it helps, my software number is 1.54.401.10.

I have Mac OS X though. Samsungs used to be so easy to root and flash firmware on. Why does every method seem so hard on this?
I have tried to install the ADB and fastboot on my computer and every time I go to type in "fastboot oem get_identifier_tag" it just says that the fastboot command can't be found?
Please can someone help. I cannot find any way to do this on a mac computer.
locate fastboot
Should tell you where fastboot is installed. I guess it's not in your path.
Have you followed the instructions for unlocking boot loader on HTC dev site I suggest using the all in one toolkit as mentioned

If I were you I'd stop right now before you do something you might regret until you have enough know how to carry on. Why do you want to flash another Rom so soon? Sense 6 is pretty good.
To use fastboot or adb run the command from the same folder as the binary .

Easiest way to get the HTC driver is to install sync manager from htc.com.
HTC Driver only (without Sync Manager): http://ul.to/pj4mzk0j
tested without problems on Windows 8 x64 and windows 10 x64

Thank you very much. HTC app doesn't install drivers on my win 10. It just hangs right after asking to install.

It's an elevated install so you must give it admin rights to install.
I installed HTC Sync fine on Win10 PRO. As others mentioned, install HTC Sync, then uninstall just the Sync app, it'll leave the drivers installed.
or
Use the naked drivers mentioned earlier in this post.
