Long story short, I was using Package Disabler and accidentally had the Emergency Launcher frozen. Then tried using Ultra Power Saving Mode. Couldn't exit UPSM and reboot. The phone got stuck on ATT logo.
I can't remember why at the moment, but I ended up having to use the Odin file to reflash the latest firmware. Now, the phone app and stock message app (text message) take about 10 seconds to open.
I've cleared the apps' cache and data, and also cleated cache from tecovery. I can't think of what else to do now other than to reflash. I'm thinking of trying the Kies firmware repair, but not sure if that'll help.
Any ideas?

Fixed. I just needed one more factory reset it seems. All my apps and data have been reinstalled and now the dialer and messages apps open in under a second.

I'm on ei22 running mostly stock and no matter what I do text and email force closes. I've reflashed, formatted sd. Please help!

You reflashed EI22? could be a bad flash / bad dwnload........r you able to ODIN back to EC05, then flash the delta zip 'EC05 - EI22' update --zip in xda development-- bringing you to stock EI22?
otherwise, could be a systemwide issue w/ sprint's towers (they have been down w/ frequency in the past few weeks out here in the mid-atlantic)..........call + make sure service is ok.
r you getting any error messages? (ie, as an example: 'Google Services Framework'?)
make sure email client icon is visible, go to your settings>account+sync>
try to un-check + re-check sync buttons.......sometimes this helps.
another look: settings>applications>manage applications.......will show if google apps are actually there: check 'all' box above, find, tap + hold dwn 'Google Services Framework (ie, AS AN EXAMPLE based on fc or error message)'.........fr appl info window clear cache (not data).......then back to home screen check you results.
do you have a file manager?........try downloading OI File Manager fr mkt (good one).
These are just a few things that you can do, but fr the sounds of it Odin to EC05 delta to EI22 is prob your best bet............good luck.
(Btw, what is 'mostly stock'......r you rooted?)
Download Titanium Backup. Open it and click the center button at top. Scroll to email and click it and hit wipe data. Repeat for Messaging (mms) and for Google Framework Services. You will have to reset up your email account but it should no longer FC.
Tried that, no luck. I am rooted

Both apps are still FCing? I would suggest a Factory Data reset then is about all that is left to try besides Odining back to stock and rooting again.

did you restore an earlier version of the email app? i restored my data only after flashing stock EI22 and it worked. also check you market apps for updates.
When this has happened to me I usually have to restore the app only. Open it. Then I try a restore app + data. This is being done through titanium.
Worst case I have used a file manager (ES works well) and replaced the app on the phone with the apk inside the rom I am loading.

Using Titanium, I backed up my galaxy S3 and did a restore on another galaxy s3 (both t-mobile ver). Now when I boot the new one I get "Unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped". After hitting OK a few times I get Unfortunately TouchWiz has stopped. Then back to the first message. I can't get past this msg. What do I do?
Flash again.

What exactly do I Flash ?
Flash The rom you already have in the devicr. Or if you are all stock then just do a factory reset. If that doesn't fix it go to the store they will figure something out.

It provably has to do with the user id did titanium ask to change your id upon start?
Try also going into recovery and fix permissions
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Titanium never asked me for any kind of ID.
As for going into Recovery - well the problem is that I can't to to anything, I can't get past this message "Unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped". I hit OK but it just bring it up again, or another message similar. But the point is that I can't get to anything. I even have trouble powering down cause the message needs be cleared before I press on Power Down, so it take a lot of trial and error before I can power down.

If you hold power for sbout 10 sec, itll restart. To get to recovery from power off or as soon as it powers down at restart hold vol up, home and power buttons. When you see the blue text at top of screen let go of power but keep holding other two.
Once in recovery you can factory reset, or if you have a custom recovery clear cache and dalvik cache and reboot first. If that doesn't work then reflash your rom without wiping. If still not working try factory reset/clear data.

Try going to settings>applications>running>all and scroll to "contacts" open it and choose "clear data" - then go back to "contacts storage" and do the same thing.
Your phone should now be working. Works for me.HTC ONE S.Good luck.
I had the same problem and had to go to each app that would fail and uninstall and reinstall. Clearing the data didnt work for me. Phone ran good and then got the tmo update and had to uninstall reinstall again.

This worked for me! Thanks a lot Be aware that all your contacts will be wiped, and be sure to sync with Google account BEFORE you update your phone. I had sync turned off, and for some reason I missed contacts storage when backing up with Titatium, so all contacts added the last two months are gone.
thanks alot

i had this problem when i flashed KIES_HOME_L710VPBLJ7_L710SPRBLJ7_329968_REV03_user_low_ship.tar after using triangle home. to my galaxy s3 MB1
Thanks!
Had the same problem after a reflash with COMBINATION_I535VRBLK3_I535VZWBLK3_381038_REV09_user_low_ship_NOWIPE_FIXED. All the other suggestions had not helped and was about to wipe user data and reset but tried your fix first. Seems to have done the trick!
For me was a little different. As the Contacts app had done nothing but crash on launch, the app was not in "running". Had to find it in "All" instead. Did the same thing for the Media Storage app.
No more errors. :good:

So this started happening since last week or so. This doesn't seem to be a firmware/version issue since I've had this issue on both LJ2 and now on MA6.
Sometimes, during normal operation, my GO SMS stops sending SMS messages (it tries to send it but it never does). Once that happens, if I press back to go the inbox, it says No messages found. Now if I open the stock Samsung Messaging app, it says the same and is unable to send any messages.
When I restart the phone, everything works fine.
Any tips? Any solutions?
same with me..? im just using stock message app..
Try cache and dalvik wipe.
Try factory reset next.
If you have rooted then flash stock rom next.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Already tried dalvik cache wipe.
Factory reset too, you can say (I did a full wipe and flashed a new ROM)
And yes I'm rooted. But no one else seems to have this issue :s Why me! Something's wrong with Android's Messaging service.
You look Indian
Maybe I can recommend you to update to dmb2

i actually have the same issue, been going on for me sin dll7. And I still can't figure out what causes this.
After rooting my phone and customizing it with xposed, wanam and removing bloatware I get the message:
(Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped.) when clicking the contacts app.
1. This only happens if 4g lte is on! (not 4g or WiFi)
2. If I remove my google account this no longer happens.
3. the dialer works. not contacts, favorites and storage.
4. I've cleared the cache of contacts and conytacts storge.
5. I've cleared the phones cache.
Does anyone have any other suggestion based on the information I've provided?
I know I can factory restore (and I have) but once I customize with the above apps it happens again.
I've had that happen several times on my towelrooted Note 3. Sometimes even a reboot doesn't help, but if I keep trying long enough, eventually it will open.
turn off volte i have a same problem

I've had this problem with the brand new Note 3 after rooting too. Are you on latest NK3 4.4.4 firmware with NE6 kernel?
The point is I couldn't fix it and just odin to an original firmware and the problem was gone.
Factory restore and cleaning the cache won't work. I've tried already. Only flashing back to stock with Odin.
"turn off volte i have a same problem"
Thanks for this... just tried and worked. Tmobile Puerto Rico on 4.4 2

My phone is also towel rooted.
I turned off VOLTE and I can open contacts now.
But what does volte have to do with your contacts not opening?
Everytime someone calls my phone, and i go to swipe the green icon across, it nevera wants to swipe over far enough to activate the call. No amount of swipe, tapping, cursing seems to fix it. Ive turned on the sensitivity thingy thru the display menu but that doesnt work. Im almost a year into this stock Note 4.

Rooted or un-rooted? If rooted, could be kernel settings.

All stock....nothing changed. I like my warranty and ins odlly enough havent had to use it yet, unlike my G3 i was on my 4th phone before year 1.

Partial solution: goto Settings, search "answering", click on answering and ending calls and select answer with home key and/or the command "answer". Done.
Not good enough? Other potential fixes:
Goto stock recovery and delete cache and dalvik and reboot phone.
-or-
Factory reset.
-or-
Open Dialer, dial *#2663# (You most likely don't need the S-Pen to dial but using S-pen may help for those that mistakenly flashed the wrong custom recovery and need this to restore touch.), then update the touch FW by pressing "TSP FW update (General)". It's harmless to restore if not needed but maybe it helps. Maybe just a refresh after update is needed?
None of these will void the warranty but you may consider backing up with KIES or Helium before factory reset. No root alternatives. There's also Drive, Samsung and Google backup and restore but not so data app friendly on restore.
